Flash builder 4.6 : aapt tool failed - AndroidManifest.xml:33: error: Error parsing XML: not well-fo

This is happening with a "fresh" installation of flash builder 4.6 and it's driving me crazy:  During "export release build" I get the error: "Error occurred while packaging the application: aapt tool failed: c:\users\alfonso\AppData\local\Temp[...]\AndroidManifest.xml:33: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formet (invalid token)  This happened while importing a project build into another computer.  If I create a BLANK air mobile project and I copy the application manifest on the old application EV ERYTHING WORKS FINE. As soon as I touch a single line of code in the application manifest I get the error. And also I get the error even if I UNDO the changes into the -app.xml  Any help would be really appreciated  Thanks  Alfonso Florio

Having same issue here. In my case I'm just trying to place a local video file; hear audio, t see no video running it within Flash Builder and the ADL simulator on my Mac. It's very frustrating that everything Abobe has posted on this is targeted toward the Flash player runnung inside a damn browser... don't they realize we need a IOS solution for the 1000s of iPhones and iPads out there? Very frustrated with this.

    Hi,
    Please deselect the option of Flash Player in the installer before beginning the installation and see if installation is successful. (Please uninstall Flash Builder and reboot before trying to reinstall)
    If that doesn't help, please run the CS5 clean tool with option to uninstall Flash player and FB, reboot after cleaning and now reinstall FB (selecting Flash Player also)
    CS5 Clean Tool can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
    Please let us know whether this helps.

    And , i transfer my project to a Windows XP host ...Oh, My god .....it  works , the  IOS package produced normally.
    SO......so.......i cann;t say any word now .....is  adobe hate windows 7 (32bit,i tested ,same problem )  and Windows 2008??
    Raymond

    I constantly had issues with this.  I managed to run into the max for increasing the heap space.  I was able to get beyond the limit by flagging the FlashBuilder.exe file to allow it to allocate to higher memory address ranges.  I'm on a 64 bit machine, so the only limitation was the 32 bit FlashBuilder process.  Anyways i was able to get from 1024m up to 1720m.  Also note that FlashBuilder 4.7 Beta is out and it is a native 64 bit application, so you will get higher addressing there.  I just found it to be too buggy for my every day development tasks.  Also missing the Design view really hurts development.  I hope they put that back in.
    Here's more detail on how I got beyond the java heap ceiling.

  • Flash Builder 4.7 conditional compiling failed

    I installed Flash Builder 4.7 on my windows xp machine, and tried to migrate projects from FB 4.6. However in one of my projects I use conditional compiling, but I'm getting errors.For example in FB 4.6 I have this sample code:
    public class MyClass{
         CONFIG::DEBUGGING{
              import com.package.SomeClassOnlyForDebugging
         function someFunction():void{
              if (CONFIG::DEBUGGING){
                   SomeClassOnlyForDebugging.create();
    When I compiled it in FB 4.6 everything worked fine. However when I try to compile it in FB 4.7, then I get error on the conditional compiling only inside the function and not on the import statement. The only way I have found to overpass it is to go to Project>Properties>ActionScript Compiler and disable Enable strict type checking. But this is not a permanent solution.
    Am I doing something wrong, or is there some other way to do it?

    You should to do like that:
    function someFunction():void
    CONFIG::DEBUGGING {
         SomeClassOnlyForDebugging.create();
    without if.

  • Build & Capture TS (MDT) - Capture fails at PrepareOS (sysprep) with "Boot Image package not found"

    Hi all,
    I'm searching for a while on this one now... I'm unable to perform a "ZeroTouch" Build & Capture of my reference machine to get a master image, with Capture Media it seems to be working, but this is a manual step...

    Can anyone give me a clue or just something...? I really don't know what my next step, to make this work, could be...
    Thanks!

    The error Torsten pointed out gave me some clue... After much digging around on the web, I've stumbled upon this
    article which led me into adding the following TS-variables:
    SMSTSDownloadRetryCount: 5
    SMSTSDownloadRetryDelay: 15
    It seems to be working now on all types of hardware...

  • Flash Builder 4.5 Fails to Start

    Folks,
    I have just installed Flash builder 4.5 on a windows vista machine. When I launch the flash builder, I get the message"Failed to create Java Virtual Machine" and flash builder doesn't start. In the past, I have installed, Flex Builder 3 in the same machine earlier and used it without any issues. can some one help me!!!
    Thanks
    Tvp

    Hello guy's.
    About this error I know that comes from the ini configuration file that is in Flash Builder default folder:
    (in my case)
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.5\FlashBuilder.ini
    so those 4 parameters are like - how many RAM you want to use to create the Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
    My default parameters are:
    -Xms384m
    -Xmx512m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
    -XX:PermSize=64m
    also I have 16GB RAM, i5 processor and x64 bit machine... so, when I duplicate those values here I get the same error like tvp_82 has.
    It seems that Xms and Xmx cannot be bigger from (Xms512m,  Xmx1024m).
    Just for a record ... there are another config files inside the "sdks" folders with the same parameters for the JVM:
    (in my case)
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.5\sdks\4.5.1\bin\jvm.config
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.5\sdks\4.5.0\bin\jvm.config
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.5\sdks\3.6.0\bin\jvm.config
    Inside those files there is only 1 parameter (java.args=-Xmx384m -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false)
    And be sure that your FlashBuilder.ini ... and those jvm.config files are with same value (like in my case - Xmx384m)
    IMPORTANT:
    Howewer I know this because when I start using Flash Builder everything works perfect until my project grows up.
    Now I am so close to my first release of my project and I cannot compile the "Release Build"... I can create only "Standard Build" and "Fast Package build"
    I get this error when I try to create IPA build for iOS devices:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/948366
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4171044
    Like you see, already spent a month, but still nothing from Adobe... or just to give me directions what's happen with this error.
    So.. the errorcan be result of my project code, or by JVM small memory.
    Howewer I need to know what is the problem before I do changes in my code.
    Anyway I don't have time to recode my app... if I am not sure that - my code is the problem for this error.
    So please if you are familiar with something like this... post me.
    Thank you guy's and I think that I help you with your issue.
    Regards

  • Flash Builder will not debug app with .ane on Android Device

    Hello ,
    I'm having a big issue with the overall stability of Flash Builder 4.7 on my Mac (OS X 10.7.5)
    I developped an extension on FB 4.6 for iOS and Android and it was  working good. In the meantime I updated to 4.7, and since then I keep on running in to lots of problems when debuggin or compiling.
    Now my extension needs to be extended, and suddenly the complete project stopped, because debugger refuses working on android devices.
    The error I get is:
    An internal error occurred during: "Launching MyAppWithExtension".

    What I tried so far:
    - Creating new workspace
    - Running Flash Builder with -clean parameter at startup
    - Reinistalling Flash Builder using Adobe Clean Tool
    - Stripping all metadata from the project (keeping only the source files) and make a complete new project setup.
    All to no avail.
    There's a good chance, I have a problem in my .ane code, but how am I supposed to find out, if debugger isn't working?
    BTW, I can make an release build of the project, but it hangs after the splash screen. I don't know, if it's a build or coding error, though.
    Ironically, I convinced my my employer to update FB to 4.7 due to the advanced iOS debugging features, but now I already spent about 10 times more working hours in finding workarounds to debugging / compiling issues than these features will ever be able to save me.
    Maybe anybody here has an idea on how to solve this issue ?

    Ok, this is an old post but i still needed a couple of hours to find a solution, so here we go:
    - Most likely you have TWO executable build targets in your project (two mxml that you can launch). If so, go to the Project settings > Flex Applications and remove the one you don't need so you only have one.
    - My case was a bit complex though - i was using an ANE and Coldfucion server. In this case change the Output folder in the Project Properties > Flex Server > Output folder to something like "temp" instead of "C:..." generated by Flex Builder. The Android device gets confused by a "C:" reference but still can understand a local "temp" folder
    I hope i have saved your day

  • I cannot install flash builder 4.6.  Installation hangs while unpacking files

    Below is the information from the event viewer.  I am using Windows XP SP3.  I don't know, but I wonder if it has something to do with our roaming profiles.  The place it seems to be trying to unpack to is \\EssexHQVM\Desktops$\user.name\Desktop\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 Installer, which has a special character in it.  I can't find any way to have the file unpack to another location, it doesn't prompt for a location.

    So, the best solution that I have come up with, which is a poor solution, is to run the .exe file on a machine that is not connected to our network and wait for the files to unpack.  Then copy the files to a thumb drive and move them to the computer that I work from.  I can then install Flash builder with no problem.
    This is a kludgy work around that ought not be.  How hard is it to have the unpacking routine prompt for a location?  That would allow me to give it a location to unpack that would not cause a hang up.  Or, failing that, why not unpack in the same location as the file that is doing the unpacking?  Then I could simply place the file in a good location and let it run.

    Hi,
    Try running the CS5 Clean Tool before installing:

  • Flash Builder 4.5 Java Heap Space Error

    Hello everyone,
    I've downloaded Flash Builder 4.5 trial a few days ago. Let me first tell that I like the new features a lot and they help to speed up the development process noticably. I thank Adobe for that very much.
    However I did not notice any performance boost over the Flash Buidler 4. Even worse, the 4.5 version seems to run much slower and use more memory than Flash Builder 4. I constantly keep getting Java Heap Space errors and needles to say, the tool just crashes and I have to restart it.
    Here how my experience working with the new version looks like. I start the Flash Builder 4.5 which has my current project open (for the record, I still use Flex 4.1, and the project includes roughly 300+ classes and 30000+ lines of code (AS and MXML)). At the beggining everything works fine and pretty fast. UI, code completion, snippets and all other good stuff works pretty fast. However, after each build, FlashBuilder.exe process eats up from 50 to 100 megabytes of memory and does not seem to release it or reuse it. So after a 5 or 10 builds it already appears to be using over 1 GB of RAM. At that point the editor becomes sloppy - it can't keep up with my typing, code completion popups takes a few seconds to show up. And a few more builds - the Flash Builder freezes and after a minute or two I get Java Heap Space error.
    I've tried increased the JRE heap space used by the Flash Builder (flashbuilder.ini, flashbuilderc.ini, eclipse.ini) to -Xms512m -Xmx1024m as well as permanent generation heap space to -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -XX:PermSize=256m and the mxml compiler (jvm.config) to -Xms384m -Xmx768m. However this did not solve the problem. Maybe just postponed it a bit.
    Am I the only one observing such behaviour of Flash Builder 4.5? Does any one have any other ideas how to fix this? (by the way, I work on 64bit machine with Widnows Server 2008R2, 4GB of RAM and 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).
    Thanks in advance.
    Michael

    I'm seeing nearly the same thing.  I also have a very large set of projects similar to what you are describing and I do have Java Heap Space errors (The details show an error of "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread" occurring for me)
    I had similar issues, although they are more frequent in the 4.5 builder, in the 4.1 builder.  In 4.1 builder, I didn't get the exact same detailed error regarding threads.
    I did install my flash builder into a clean instance of eclipse 3.6.2 vs using the standalone install.  That shouldn't make a difference though.  In 4.1, I tried he standalone install and saw the same issues I saw in the plugin version.
    I'm also using the 4.1 SDK in Flash Builder 4.5 (It appears that is what you are doing).  I've been attributing the crashes to the following bug in the 4.1 SDK, although I have applied the files in the bug report and still have the problem.  I'm hoping when I'm able to switch to the 4.5 SDK it may help.  (I can't switch yet because from what I can tell, it requires 10.2 Flash Player and my company is currently only on 10.0)
    The Bug Report I'm referring to is: https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-26366
    I've bumped up all of the memory settings you've referred to and it helps the environment run longer, but it still eventually crashes.  One thing I definately do is make sure that the "Build Automatically" is unchecked.
    The machine I'm running on is an Intel 2600K with 16GB of memory running Windows 7 64-bit, so I don't think hardware is the issue.
    No real answer, but your not alone in having similar issues.

  • ASC2.0 & flash builder 4.7 inconsistencies

    I am trying to upgrade my Ant build script to build my project.
    First I managed to get the project to build and run fine within flash builder 4.7, fixing the errors that come up.
    But now when I installed the AIR 3.4 SDK with ASC2.0 and use the ant script, I get a new code error. This could possibly be that the ant script is building more things than flash builder but I don't think so.
    Anyways the error is in this file:
    http://code.google.com/p/as3yaml/source/browse/tags/0.4.1/org/as3yaml/Emitter.as line 134
      [mxmlc] Error: 'var' is not allowed here
        [mxmlc]         private static var defInit0 : Map = new HashMap();
        [mxmlc]         ^
    This code looks a bit strange, but any input would be good, I find it at least strange that this does not happen in flash builder 4.7 but happens when I use Air SDK 3.4 with ASC2.0
    UPDATE:
    Managed to fix it just by putting these static variables outside of the static scope. However now When I am trying to package the app (IOS packager) I get Initial window content is invalid.
    what is there now is the name of the SWF file, that I was building.
    Any ideas what maybe causing that?
    Are the parameter and compatability issues listed somewhere for the new command line tools (in this case adt packager)?

    Hi ,
    Were you able to build ipa successfully using AIR 3.1 in FB 4.6 ?
    Is the issue reproducible for a particular project or on all the projects ?
    Please share the build.xml , debug and release swf, app.xml file .

  • How to Setup Flash Builder ActionScript only project for iPad?

    Hello!
    Can someone give a short guide on how to setup an ActionScript only prject in flash builder such that it can be compiled using adt and deployed to the iPad?
    i created successfully iphone games using FlashIDE and PFI.
    now I'd like to create an iPad app using Flash Builder (ActionScript only). but I fail to load the compiled IPA to the ipad, keep getting different errormessages thus i think something with my projectsetup is wrong

    Yes, in Terminal you type a single line which is made from the path to the adt application, some parameters, and paths to other documents. Here's the full list of things:
    /Location/to/AdobeAIRSDK_2.6/bin/adt
    -package
    -target ipa-test
    -provisioning-profile /Location/to/Provision.mobileprovision
    -storetype pkcs12
    -keystore /Location/to/Certificates.p12
    -storepass password
    NameOfApp.ipa ApplicationDescriptor-app.xml
    -C /Location/to/swf  NameOfApp.swf
    splashscreens
    icons
    That "-C" line is clever, it does a directory change to the folder you give it, so after the -C /location/to/swf part it will then look in that same folder for other documents, and for where to build the IPA file.

  • Flex, Air, Flash, Flash builder, ASC2.0

    After the decision of moving Flex to apache, and with the release of Flash builder 4.7 I am getting a bit confused about what is what anymore.
    Flex development is moving to apache, yet the compilers, packaging tools and more seem to live inside the Flex SDK.
    Air SDK has previously gone on top of the Flex SDK and seems to be an addon on the Flex SDK.
    However in flash builder 4.7, AIR SDK is set as the compiler even for web projects, although the result is a .swf file with no dependency on AIR.
    On top of things now you can get AIR SDK with ASC2.0 that still can build web applications (non-air)
    I am sorry if this is a stupid question, but Isn't this getting a bit complicated and terminologies getting mixed up?
    Am I right to assume that things are moving towards the following:
    AIR SDK - Compiler and core framework/Api for AS3 code that targets either web(swf), air or air mobile (this would be bundled with Flash builder), have command line tools, to build & package applications.
    FLEX SDK - Frameworks for RIA apps (mxml files etc), but ultimately not necessery unless your doing those kinds of apps.

    In the Flex/Flash world, everything eventually gets compiled to SWF despite how the source is written.  SWF consists of media assets as well as bytecode that can be executed.  This is very similar to the Windows world where EXE/DLL files may be a compiled product of C++, VB, Delphi, etc code.
    ASC 2.0 is a new compiler that produces more optimal bytecode.  While Flash is fast, the current ActionScript compiler does not produce good enough bytecodes that gets the best out of Flash player.
    Adobe AIR provides additional capabilities outside of Flash Player to make the applications more desktop friendly.  Flash Player is constrainted by browser security, therefore capabilities such as are local file read/write are limited.  While the security makes sense, when it comes to desktop applications where security model is different, it makes sense to have extentions that enrich the user experience.  Throughout the years, besides API additions, AIR grows to include capabilities such as packaging SWFs for mobile devices.
    Flex is just a framework that's designed to make building business applications easier.  However, business applications can be built without Flex framework.
    p.s.  I am not an Adobe employee, but I have been trying to clear this confusion for many people.  It seems that Adobe's PR is not keen on communicating with developers, while they are awesome in terms of catering creative professionals.
