Flash Builder 4.7 Packages AIR iOS Standard Even Without Changes

"Note: If you have not changed your code or assets since the last debug IPA package was generated, Flash Builder skips the packaging and debugs the application. That is, you can launch the installed application on your device and click Debug to connect to the Flash Builder debugger. This way, you can debug repeatedly without packaging the application every time."
This appears to not be working in Flash Builder 4.7.  It always worked fine in 4.6.  Basically it packages the application every single time I click Debug, regardless of whether anything was changed.

Hi Brent, I've got a bug filed in this thread, including a project where I've isolated the probem to a single swc lib:

  • Bug in flash builder 4? ( export air release build )

    Hi every one, I am working on a air application using flash builder 4. I tried to export an air release build and I chose my certificate and every thing seemed to be fine, but whrn I clicked on finish button, nothing happend!! I mean it did not do anything, no error message, nothing. after a lot of time I found out on of my images in assets folder starts with space. that was it!! flex 4 could not export the release build for that reason !!just make sure your file names do not start with space!!
    Anyways I thought to post it here maybe it saves some time for someone.
    cheers

    I had the same issue trying to export an air project:
    Start to export the release then nothing append, no .air file generated, and the compiler asking me again and again to choose files to be exported.
    The issue came from project-app.xml file containing leading space within tags.
    For instance <systemChrome> none </systemChrome> must be change to <systemChrome>none</systemChrome>. (Note the spaces around "none").
    The workspace log file might help in case of silent failure. flexWorkspace/.metedata/.log.

  • Flash Builder 4.5.1 Creating iOS Mobile App creates components not Spark views

    Hi
    I have Flash Builder 4.5.1 on Windows 7 using SDK 4.5.1.
    Following many of the Hello World video tutorials (including what's on Adobe TV's website) I create a new Mobile based Application in Flash Builder. I set it up to be a View Based Application targeting iOS and iPhone (although the problem is for any iOS device).
    I follow all the instructions and yet the MXML that's created at the end is component based and not targeting Spark Views. This floors running or viewing the app! Code for both Application class and View is as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <components:ViewNavigatorApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                                         xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:components="spark.components.*" firstView="views.MyMobileProjectHomeView" applicationDPI="240">
        <fx:Declarations>
            <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
        </fx:Declarations>
    </components:ViewNavigatorApplication>
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <components:View xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                     xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:components="spark.components.*" title="HomeView">
        <fx:Declarations>
            <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
        </fx:Declarations>
    </components:View>
    I have no idea why Flash Builder is creating code that's namespaced to components and not the spark framework.
    The code that's created in the course is below and yet if I import their project and try and view in Design view Flash Builder tells me 'An unknown item is declared as the root of your MXML document. Switch to source mode to correct it.':
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:ViewNavigatorApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                                xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" firstView="views.HelloWorldHomeView" applicationDPI="240">
        <fx:Declarations>
            <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
        </fx:Declarations>
    </s:ViewNavigatorApplication>
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:View xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
            xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" title="HomeView">
        <fx:Declarations>
            <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
        </fx:Declarations>
        <s:Label text="Hello World"/>
    </s:View>
    Please help
    Many thanks in advance
    David

    Here's the solution:
    The problem did not exist on an installation of Flash Builder on a spare MacBookPro.
    On my main computer (the one with the Flash Builder issue) I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Builder 4.5 (then updated to 4.5.1). Creating an iOS Mobile Application now creates the correct code.
    I have no idea why it was creating dodgy code.
    The only difference with the new Flash Builder install is that SourceMate 3.0 is not installed yet. Perhaps something had gone wrong in the Adobe Updater when going from 4.5 to 4.5.1, who know...all speculation...anyhow it works now!

    Hello,
    Please follow the steps in the release note section: How to overlay the Adobe AIR SDK for use with the Flex SDK
    Please let us know how it goes and if you run into difficulties.

  • Flash Builder On A MacBook Air?

    I'm thinking of jumping over to the dark side of and buying a MacBook Air
    Is anyone using one of those for Flash Builder development?
    Or do I need to get a more powerful MacBook Pro for that?
    Thanks
    Mathias

    Macs are not remotely as functional as Windows 7 machines (you have to use command line for basic stuff, and just wait for the first time you drag and drop a folder over a folder with the same name and all the files that weren't in the folder you dragged go *pouf*).
    Not to mention, the new Lion OS has deliberate borked most Adobe software.
    Get more machine for your money, and stick with a PC!

  • Flash Builder 4 and Adobe AIR 2

    I'm trying to figure out how to use AIR 2 with Flash Builder 4.  I was initially under the impression that FB4 has AIR2... but the when I create a File object and try to call the function openWithDefaultApplication().  An error occurs saying the function doesn't exist.  This is the AIR application I created in FB4.  Am I doing something wrong or do I need to install AIR 2 somehow -- and if so, how do I do so?

    Hi Sumeet,
    Unfortunately we don't have support for sidecar installs with native installers at this time.  I've seen this come up before but when I searched the ideas.adobe.com site I couldn't find a specific feature request.  We are aware that there is interest in this feature, but I'd like to encourage you to add a post to the ideas.adobe.com page or over at bugbase.adobe.com and let others know so we can vote on it.
    Thanks,

  • The new context-help in Flash Builder 4.5 is horrible... anyway to change it back to FB3?

    See the picture below: (you will have to click it to see it better, because the Forum doesn't show it properly)
    Problem number 1: at Debug Time, I do not see a tooltip with the value of "Credits", even though it is a PUBLIC VARIABLE inside the Player Class. It is NOT even a property! In Flex Builder 3 all accessible members had their values indicated at Debug Time. In Flash Builder 4.5, they broke it and instead of seeing the value of Credits, I see that stupid tooltip which helps at exactly nothing.
    Problem number 2: these hover tooltips appear way too fast. As soon as my mouse floats over practically anything in the code, I get that annoying huge tooltip. I tried to find an option which configures the delay with which that hover tooltip should appear, but I found no such configuration option.
    I hope somebody can help me with some suggestions.
    Thank you in advance.

    You can disable the asdoc hover by toggling Preferences -> Flash Builder -> Editors -> ActionScript Code -> Show in text hovers.

  • Acrobat 9 standard save without changing pdf version

    Hello,
    I have a question, is it possible to save an edited PDF file (the original is in an old format PDF 1.3/1.4) in the same format it was before editing?
    When I have edited the PDF with acrobat 9 standard it automatically changes the PDF version to 1.6.
    Thanks in advance

    There is no PDF Optimizer under advanced in acrobat 9 standard
    Saving in older file format is only a acrobat pro option?

    Bolded appl descriptor versions

    Status Update - don't know if this is a bug, design flaw, install problem or my misunderstanding.
    I got it to work by first changing my Flex library to 4.5.0 - still didn't work with current
    app and update mxml files using "2.6" for their namespace versions. But I did at least
    get the popup error number 16815 - indicating an error in the update version namespace.
    By leaving my application namespace version at "2.6" and changing the update version to "2.5" ... bingo!
    I got my new update installed autiomatically.
    Is this how it's supposed to work - or are my runtimes mixed up?
    Will this work the same using the Flex 4.5.1 SDK? I'll find out shortly
    Hope this helps others.

  • Flash builder 4 upgrade from Flex 3 Standard

    Hiya.
    I would like to know from Adobe if the upgrade options available a wrong or not? I've just bought an upgrade from FB3 Standard to FB4 Preminum (from Eligibility chart is SEEMS possible). The installer when I entered my FB3 Standard serial says it's wrong. At this point the possible answers are two for me: the upgrade processes on the site is wrong or there's something wrong with the installer. A would like a clarification as soon as possible.
    Thanks.

    I run into the same problem.
    For me it was the only option available at the adobe online store (upgrade Flex3 -> FlashBuilder4 Premium)
    so the registration number didn't work, saying that i have the wong product to upgrade (Flex3 standard)
    I had to open a case for software destruction to get a refund for what i've allready payed and if i want the FlashBuilder4 serial i have to re-buy it at the online store
    Custumer support told that this is the only solution.
    It's a little bit annoying.
    That is not a critic to the support team (was very friendly) it's just annoying that i can't get a standad serial for my purchase and that i have to wait some weeks to get the refund...
    So be carefully while purchasing the upgrade and look twice to choose the right option at the store.
    (Hopfully the right option is now available...)

  • How to use single ant build script to package the application with and without native extensions

    Hi,
    I am using iOS native extensions for Adobe air. For this I am listing the extensions in the application descriptor file. Since the package with native extensions are meant to run only on device, I want my build script to work without native extensions too to be able to run on simulator. Is this manadatory that I need two separate application descriptors/basically two build scripts to compile and package them? Please suggest and let me know if more explanation is needed.
    Thanks,
    Swathi.

    Hi
    This is a known issue addressed by CR205204
    As you said, IBM actually does not have rt.jar in its JDK - they have moved contents of rt.jar into various jars.
    IBM is not using org/apache/crimson/tree/ in their JDK at all.So the error shows up in the end of build even if it succeeds
    You may need to add crimson.jar to wlwBuild classpath, since it is not part of IBMs JDK.
    Note: the build will work even w/o crimson.jar giving a non build related IDE exception in the very end.
    Thanks
    Vimala

    Update:
    My previous proposed solution (of installing the 64-bit JRE) resulted in a different problem. After multiple attempts and restarts I was unable to work in the Flash Builder IDE as it became unresponsive on load. Each time I had to use Task Manager to close the application.
    Apparent Solution:
    Close all applications running in Windows
    Uninstall all versions of JRE (Java Runtime Environment)
    Uninstall Flash Builder 4.7
    Reinstall Flash Builder 4.7
