Flash Builder Charts

Any one ever have this.  Data source retruns data to grid. And datasource returns data to graph ($ value by month) $ values show on Y axis month  name show across X axis but the graphical bars do not show. And there is data values in the datasource and they are returned to a grid using same data source but not showing as bars on graph. Pie chart does same thing.

Can you attach mxml ?

  • Chart causing error 1009 when enabling compatibility mode in Flash Builder 4

    Hello.
I'm trying to use the chart components in Flash Builder 4. I'm using Flex SDK 4, but had to turn on the "Flex 3 compatibility mode" for some off-topic reasons.
I simply created a new application and copied the code from the DateTimeAxis class example: http://www.codigoactionscript.org/langref/as3/mx/charts/DateTimeAxis.html#includeExamplesS ummary
When running the example, the following error is reported (sorry, it is in italian: it's simply the "null object" error):
TypeError: Error #1009: Impossibile accedere a una proprietà o a un metodo di un riferimento oggetto null.
    at mx.charts.chartClasses::CartesianChart/updateMultipleAxesStyles()[E:\dev\4.0.0\frameworks \projects\datavisualization\src\mx\charts\chartClasses\CartesianChart.as:2598]

Is there a solution to this bug? We really need to use charts AND keep the Flex 3 compatibility mode.

I use SDK 4.1 but I also get the error: (Flashbuilder 4.0.1 in Flex 3 compatibility mode)
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

  • Flash Builder : managing multiple charts projects for one XHTML site

    Hello,
I build several Charts that have to be integrated in some static web page.
2 or 3 charts are integrated in the same page ...
    In Flash Builder
    - i have one project per chart
    - i must change the compilation options (option -services -locale etc) depending on wich platform i deploy (because i use an AMF Server and i have to configure the locale also) :

              - Linux pre-production server
So it takes me a lot of time to build each project for the local host or for the pre-production one ...
Is there a way to create a compilation profile to avoid re-typing each compilation option (like in netbeans per example) ?
Is  there a way to build several projects at the same time ? maybe in  separate directories ? (in my case i would like to build 3 or 4 Charts  that will be available on the same HTML page even if they don't use the  same services ...)

  • Building Flash Bar Chart

    HI
I am building a flash bar chart which works, I load data from
    a txt file.
When I load whole numbers, the chart works fine but when I
load a number like 7.5 it stays at 7 or
    goes to 8.
I am using the flash time line as the reference on the bar
chart. My question is there a way to get the .2, .5 decimal spots
to match up correctly? how can I do this?
    Thanks
    -Pablo

If you are using Apex version 3, it uses Anychart version 3.
    If you want to use the custom XML option on your chart you need to know the XML spec. If you look on the Anychart website, their documentation is for Anychart version 4 and will not work! Check out the version 3 documentation at;

  • Flash Builder 4.5 Standard Charting

I'm trying to decide which version of Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 to purchase: Premium vs. Standard.
I know in the past, Standard put a watermark on all charts being built. Is that still the case with Adobe 4.5 Standard or is non-watermarked charts included with Standard?
Any other reasons I must go with Premium?

    Hi,
Charting (without watermark) is now available with Standard license.

  • Problems with Dashboard Demo App in Flash Builder 4

I imported the Adobe Flex Dashboard app into Flash Builder 4 using SD 4.1 and selected "Use Flex 3 compatibility mode", but there are still some issues after import.
I'm not talking about having to create the "libs" folder and re-generate the HTML templates. I know why that needs to be done. I'm also not talking about the IStroke and IFill errors you get for the number of arguments to the apply() and begin() methods, as those interfaces changed in Flex 3.5.
But when I get the app launched, the chart datatips are just a black rectangle (no text) and the combobox entry text is invisible.
I'm going to try and fix these, but I thought selecting "Use Flex 3 compatibility mode" meant no changed required?

Here is a simple example. Create a new project in Flash Builder 4 and in the project properties  compiler section, select "Use Flex 3 compatibility mode". Then launch the app, hover over a column in the chart and you see black rectangles, not data tips. Why is this and how to fix?

  • New to programming. Should I use Flash Builder 4.6 to create CRUD interface to MySQL?

Having just acquired Creative Cloud subscription, I see that I have access to Flash Builder 4.6 Premium. I haven't figured out yet if I will eventually have access to Flash Builder 4.6 for PHP when / if it is released.
I am relatively new to programming. I want to create a desktop application, perhaps a web application, to manage a MySQL database. I am not, at this time, concerned with mobile applications. I'm primarily interested in just managing the MySQL data -- CRUD (create, read, update, delete) operations.
Hopefully I've provided enough context. My question concerns whether learning Flash Builder 4.6 and Flex programming is an appropriate choice. Alternatively, I could just focus on learning basic PHP programming or perhaps learning to use one of the PHP frameworks (CakePHP, CodeIgniter, or Zend). It seems like learning these frameworks will take time as well, so I don't know where I should begin.
I would really value your perspective. Are the Flash Builder related technologies here to stay? Is Flash Builder primarily suitable for mobile applications (rather than desktop or web)? Would it be more or less difficult to learn Flash Builder and Flex than PHP and one of the PHP frameworks with a view to building a MySQL CRUD application?
Thank you, so very much -- for your time and expertise.
    Kevin

    Kevin,
I am a big fan of Flash Builder.  You can build great desktop web applications as well desktop applications that run on AIR (installs locally to the desktop).
I found it easier to pick up Flex (now Flash Builder) primarily due to the resources (Learn Flex in a week video tutorials http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/videotraining.html ) as well as a big developer community that posts a lot of how to's and walk throughs.  In my personal opinion, I think the power of Flash Builder/Flex framework is the ability to create what traditionally was seen as desktop apps within your web browser.  If you're looking to create a basic crud interface, skipping Flash Builder and just doing it in PHP may be the way to go.  If you're looking to add visualizations (ie graphs, charts) or highly interactive user interface to it then Flash Builder would be a good way to go (though keep in mind that you will still need PHP (or some other server side application layer like coldfusion) to interface with your mysql database  but Flash Builder's dataservices creates some sample php classes for you to handle CRUD using Zend).    There's lots of amazing things you can do with Flash Builder.  I'd recommend checking out some of the samples from Tour de Flex to get a sense of what can be done with Flash Builder.
A couple of notes though - You can build and package native mobile apps with Flash Builder but if you're looking to create web apps for devices like iphone and ipads, Flash Builder isn't the solution since it compiles web based apps to Flash and we all know how idevices don't play nicely with Flash.

  • Flash Islands Tutorial I - Confusion with Flex/Flash Builder Versions

    Hi Guys,
i am new to the Adobe Flex/Flash Islands technology and tried to implement Tutorial I by Thomas Jung. Unfortunately i am confused by the various different versions for flex and the corresponding IDE's.
As far as i understood SAP at the moment only supports Flex versions up to version 3.3 for NetWeaver 7 EHP1. Furtheron the Adobe Charting Components (used in the Tutorial) seem to be part of the Flex Builder Professional Version only.
So i went to the Adobe Website and looked into the products and download areas. All i found was Flash Builder 4.5 Premium and the various Adobe and Open Source Flex SDK versions. I am using Flash Builder 4.5 as a trial right now. Unfortunately the Charting Components are not included.
So the question i have is whether the Charting Components (e.g. <mx:BarChart /> )are included in the non Trial version of Flash Builder 4.5 Premium or whether there is any possibility to get them as an Add-On. Or do i have to use Flex Builder 3 Professional (i found no information about this on the Adobe Website)?
    Additional Hint:
I found out that when i compile the poject with Flex SDK vesion 3.6 or higher, the compiler knows the <mx:BarChart /> tag. Also in that case the view designer is working. However FlashIslands is only supported up to Flex SDK 3.3. But when i choose 3.3 the <mx:BarChart /> tag and some other related tags are unknown.
This is a really anoying issue.
    Best Regards,
    Dirk

    HI Dirk,
wtith Web Dynpro, you can only use Flex SDK version 3.3 and downwards. You can download the SDK here [http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/DownloadFlex3]
Flash Builder ships with Flex SDK 4.5 which is not compatible with WDA flash islands.
As for the charts library, which Adobe referes to as the Data Visualization Component, it is also available as a separate download which can be unzipped into the same directory as the Flex SDK -- the library is available here [http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=flex3sdk]
I must say I am also confused, because as far I can tell data visualization component is not included in 3.3, but SAP makes no mention of this. Hopefully someone else can enlighten us on this issue?

  • Are Flash Builder 4 data services production grade, or demo grade?

I've experimented a bit with the data services feature that Flash builder 4 beta 2 offers. Frankly they seem to be just about what I was waiting for. We build a lot of data centric applications and anything that reduces the amount of code required to wire things up is great. I do have some questions re the data services as implmented in beta 2, and forward. Note I've almost no hands on with Flex, any version, at this point.
With Flex Builder 3, there was a crud wizard. From what I read the code it generated was not considered production grade. I hope that the data services feature shown with beta 2 would be considered robust enough to use in production? I am sure that there are many different ways of handling data services in general with Flex, so I am not asking if it's the best approach or makes any other approach redundant. I just mean, could the tooling around the data services feature of flash builder 4 remain a viable approach for getting at data, once a flex developer was past the training wheels stage?
Another aspect I'm curious about is whether the data services features of Flash Builder 4 would remain relevant if one was using some other data access system? I can't really phrase this question properly because I don't really understand Flex or the various data access technologies that everyone is using. Hopefully the quesiton makes sense...if one was NOT using the data services wizard or whatever it's called, would whatever data services one was using show in the data services area of builder? It would be cool of course if they did.

    Hi,
When it comes to runtime performance of the applications created using Data Centric Development ( DCD ) wizards, they perform same as the ones created without using DCD.
Even the code generated by these wizards are easy to read & maintain with proper inheritance, packages & overriding. But, if you are planning to use any of the MVC style frameworks, the generated code may not fit so well right now. We are already working on improving the experience for people who are using these frameworks.
Overall, using DCD gives a lot of productivity gain with its unified wizards & advanced UI Authoring workflows including Automatic Form Generation, Charts, Master-Detail views, Paging, Client Side Data Management etc.
Please let us know if you have any specific concerns in the generated code.

  • Only LiveCycle Data Services 2.6 or higher is supported in this version of Flash Builder.

    Hi guys!

Only LiveCycle Data Services 2.6 or higher is supported in this version of Flash Builder.
Any suggestion? why Flashbuilder is not detecting correct version?
    Thanks

    Hi Tom,
    Thank for reply.
In my application I was using Flex 3.0 and LCDS 2.6.  I need to  generat PDF
generate and save 100% at client side. so I used Flex Gumbo  to use
filestream.save since flex 3.0 doesn't support filestream. Using Gumbo let
me filestream but gave me an "direction" style declaration for charting
component .. mismatch with previous version. To overcome that I used Flex 4
flash builder. That gave got rid of direction but gave me LCDS 2.6 version
error. I have copied my older workspace  to another location and using this
workspace for Flex 4. I am using LCDS 2.6 though it give me same error. I
have almost given up, really dont know what needed to be done. Thanks for
    your help.

Hey guys, I'm brand new to this as well and you probably don't need an answer now but I found this anyway:
Flex Builder and Flash Builder both function as Plug-ins to Eclipse, though each also comes in a "stand-alone" flavor - which is still eclipse, but with a lot of the Eclipse functionality torn out for a smaller footprint.

  • What is new in Flash Builder 4.7 Game Development beta 2

I just installed it, I thought it would include some version of monocle.
Are there any changes other than a support for a product not available yet through labs?
If Not, when will we get monocle to test with it?

In this build you can create SWFs that support profiling with Monocle, but you will need to download Monocle separately as it is not a part of Flash Builder.
The telemetry API usage via monocle is possible only with the AIR SDK 3.4, so out of the box AS3 projects would support creating SWFs that can be used with monocle. To make it work with MXML (or rather Flex) would will need to overlay the Flex 4.6 SDK with the AIR 3.4 runtime.
