Flash button help

I have no trouble making a button. My problem is this. I make
a button symbol. Place two instances of the button on the stage.
Now I want to change the fill color of just one of those buttons.
But when I do that, it changes both instances on the stage. I
thought that that would only happen if you changed the instance in
the library? How do I change the color without the other one
changing?

If you are using AS2, look at the online help section for
getURL. If you are using AS3, then look at the online help section
for navigateToURL.

    navigation bar has flash buttons as the links to other pages i have

    What will happen to those who do not have Flash installed?
    What will search
    engines (which don't read Flash links) do to spider your
    site? What will
    screen assistive devices (which don't read Flash links) do to
    navigate your
    site? What will you do when you move or rename a linked page
    (DW cannot
    manage the links)?
    Most experienced people don't use Flash navigation for these
    reasons.

  • Flash button help PLEASE

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!
    Ok, here is my problem in short. I am fairly competent in
    flash. I am able to export a flash button out in flash 6, but am
    not in flash 8 or 9. The button just turns dead after i upload the
    button into dreamweaver even though its working when i export it
    out in flash.
    I did ALOT of experimenting. The button that was exported out
    in flash 8 or 9 can work with "_blank" but not "_self". I did
    exactly the same thing for flash 6 and it works!!! This is so
    frustrating.
    I was hoping to export it out in flash 8 or 9 because it has
    additional graphics in it.
    Can anyone please tell me what is wrong. THANKS.
    (dead button means when clicked on nothing happens)

    If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
    not be spidered
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
    a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
    It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
    Your link doesn't work.

  • Problem with Flash Buttons Help me

    Sir
    i design some Flash buttons but it is save as .swf extension
    if i save as jpg or gif then animation not working as well as
    effects.
    sir
    how can i call the flash buttons in java plz guide me
    JButton mybutton=new JButton(how can i pass swf extension button);

    kglad
    what I did was place the code with the trace evt into the action script under the label on the timeline I have for album1. With AS3 I guess that's the new way of doing it.
    I then saved the file and output it for preview in flash as well as html, and I got no response on pressing the button apart from the normal animation and sound I have associated with my buttons. I also looked in the output window and no information came up, which in response to Ned's help, means my buttons are not connecting.
    Damn, I have tried everything and retraced my steps from scratch, but I am missing something.
    Nonetheless I also opened up dreamweaver cs4, and made a test HTML like you mentioned yesterday, and I inserted my flash file(banner) onto the webpage. Went to preview it, through dreamweaver cs4, but everything else but my buttons work. I have graphics, sound and animation but no damn links work.
    Thanks for your help
    Regards

  • Flash Buttons HELP!

    I am trying to make a button that when clicked will make text
    appear. Does anyone know were to find a tutorial or how to do this-
    I can only find tutorials on how to make a button that links to a
    url. I am absolutely retarded with flash and I have been working on
    this for like two hours :(

    OK.... make a movie clip. Call it Button or something.
    drag it onto your main movie. Select it and add this action:
    on (rollOver) {
    this.gotoAndPlay("up");
    on (rollOut) {
    this.gotoAndPlay("down");
    on (release) {
    getURL("website.html", "_self");
    Now, double-click on the movie clip to open it.
    Make three layers ("shape", "actions" and "labels" )
    Draw a colored box on the "shape" layer (this will be your
    button)
    on frame 1 put a Stop action on the "actions" layer
    on frame 5 put a Frame Label called "up" (no quotation marks)
    on the "labels" layer
    on Frame 15 put a Stop Action on the "actions" layer
    on frame 20 put a Frame Label called "down" on the "labels"
    layer
    on frame 30 put a Stop action on the "actions" layer
    Now select your "shape" layer, click on frame 5 and hit F6,
    click on frame 15 and hit F6, click on frame 20 and hit F6, click
    on frame 30 and hit F6.
    OK...now you need to make some sort of animation happen with
    your boxes. From frame 5 to frame 15. and the reverse, from frame
    20 to frame 30.
    So when the user rolls over the movie clip (that you called
    "button"), THIS (the movie clip) will gotoAndPlay the frame called
    "up"
    and then it will stop playing at Frame 15 where you put a
    Stop Action. When the cursor rolls off, THIS will gotoAndPlay
    "down" ...
    get it? If you don't understand what Frame Labels and Actions
    are, then you first need to do the Flash Tutorial.

  • Need help using flash buttons

    Can anyone help me with flash buttons? I am trying to build
    my first website, and my five flash buttons (inside a 5 col. table)
    for page navigation work fine in testing all 5 web pages with
    mozilla firefox, and they look the same on the index page when
    testing with IE-7. However when I begin navigating to other pages
    in IE-7, the flash buttons disappear, and the 5 cols in the table
    where each flash button was placed now are not equal sizes anymore
    like they are on the index page. In my files area on the right, I
    notice 3 out of the five buttons I created have about 15 to 20
    "generations" shown there, with numbers 1 through 15 or even more
    to qualify them tacked on to the end of the names. Where do these
    come from, and why are 2 out of the five only have 1 "generation"
    each? I never expected this, and I think it has something to do
    with the problem, but maybe not. Please help me if you can!

    If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will

    It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
    Your problem is caused by navigating away from the previewed
    page. In
    general, this is not a good thing to do, since root relative
    links will not
    work as expected when you do that (locally).

  • Help with flash buttons actionscript 2.0

    Help please, I am not sure what I am doing wrong here. Each button has this script
    on (release) {
    getURL("http://www.mysite.com/index.html");
    Once they work I want to import them to dreamweaver.

    Do you happen to have any kind of rollover code tied to anything that is containing the buttons?  I don't see the sense in having Flash buttons unless you have some form of animation associated with them, possibly triggered by rollover interactions.  If so, the rollover may be blocking access to the on(release) interaction.

  • Help Brining Flash button to Dreamweaver/webpage?!?!

    Hello all,
    I've created an animated button in flash cs3, and wanted to bring my work onto a webpage. I am using dreamwaver cs4, and want to know how, the only thing I know how to do on dreamweaver is bring in the whole movie clip, but this just won't do... PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
    ps: just bringing it onto a webpage is my question...

    When you say, "just the button," to what are you referring?
    If just the image of the button, export (from Flash) an image.
    If you need it to work like the flash button you designed, you will need the whole .swf file (and any auxiliary code).

  • Help! Flash Button Troubles

    O.K., Hello again everyone got yet another rookie question so
    hopefuly y'all have the answer... I am using Dreamweaver MX and
    using the preset Flash Buttons that come with it the "slider"
    button in particular now I have edited this button and specified a
    link (photoshop.htm) coming from (index.htm) but when I upload the
    files to the server and try to test it, my index.htm comes up and
    is perefect but the button will not link when clicked, it does
    everything it is supposed to except take me to another page. I
    inspected the code and saw no reference to the page it is to link
    to, so attched is the code for y'all to see. Pleez HELP!
    -P.S.- also with these buttons I must click to activate them
    is there a way around having to click on them before they will
    animate?
    .

    Don't use Flash buttons. That answer is simple! 8)
    There are several really good reasons not to use them -
    1. They are inaccessible
    2. They can't be spidered
    3. They aren't usable by those who don't have Flash
    installed.

  • Need help converting this html code into code that will work as a flash button

    I have some html code that is for a button in html that when
    pressed sends you to a certain url but also somehow adds an 'id
    value' and a 'website value'.
    How can I convert this code and or put it into a flash
    button?
    Disregard the gif info...that's just for the html graphic
    that goes for the button.
    [HTML]<form
    action="https://secure.verotel.com/cgi-bin/vtjp.pl"
    method="post">

  • Help my Flash Buttons

    I'm using flash buttons in my web site. In lieu of underlined
    text. Well they work fine in the development tool but when i put
    them on my site they don't work at all????? What could the problem
    be????Tried different directories still dont work????

    Graphics (GIF/JPG/PNG), or CSS-styled text.
    > why are they on ly on hobby sites????
    Because -
    1. Those who don't have the Flash plugin installed will not
    see the link.
    2. Those who require screen assistive devices will not see
    the link.
    3. Search engine spiders will not see the link (so your site
    will not be
    indexed).
    4. If you move or rename a file to which this button is
    linked, the link in
    the button will not be automatically updated to reflect the
    change you just
    made.
    5. They look creepy.
    6. I can't remember this one.
    7. It's a maintenance problem for you (I just added this so
    the list would
    look longer).
    Do those work?
