Flash CS3 Publish

I am having a bit of trouble using Flash CS3. I have created
my flash file, and published it to my hard drive. There are two
files, one is the flash.swf file, and the other is index.html. With
Flash MX I used to put these two files on my server and everything
worked fine, however, this is not the case since I have gotten CS3
- when I go to the domain it gives me this message: [Not Found The
requested URL /public_html/Bluevision/ was not found on this
server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while
trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.]. How do I
fix this?

I believe that refers to the timeout limit when a for loop or
recursive function goes into an endless loop (default is 15 sec).
Should not affect your coding unless you need to alter the
limit.

In Flash CS3, does anyone know how to export keyboard
preferences + Flash commands? Are these settings stored in files

Without the error, I can't imagine a way to help you. ;)
Flash CS3 publishes to ActionScript 3.0, 2.0, and 1.0 just
    fine for me.

  • Error publishing Air in Flash CS3

    Hi All
On the Adobe Air Flash CS3 wiki page
    http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/AIR:Flash_CS3_Professional_Update:Getting_Started_wit h_AIR_for_Flash_CS3_Professional)
I found a simlpe tutorial "Creating an Adobe AIR application
    in Flash"
I thought well this can't be hard can it?
However when I use the Publish Air File button in the 'AIR -
Applications and Installer Settings' window I will get the
    following error:
"namespace is invalid in the application descriptor file"
Now I have tried to look into the XML file but I cannot see
    any problems.
I also tried to use the descriptor-template.xml which came
    with the Air - SDK
However also that will not work.
Has anyone got an idea why I get this error?

    Hi FragFood!
I received the same error "Namespace is invalid in the
application descriptor file" repeatedly on many computers
(XP/Vista) and here is how i repeatedly worked around it.
I made a step-by-step sheet explaining exactly how to install
Flash CS3 (9.0) with the Latest Flash Player (v9.0.124), and with
Adobe AIR (1.0) as of today (3/May/2008).
If you have already installed Flash CS3
    Uninstall Flash CS3
Goto all the "Program Data" folders, RENAME/DELETE the "en"
    folder
Goto "Program Files" folder, RENAME/DELETE the "en" folder
Now to get the latest version of Flash CS3 installed!
Please follow these steps exactly; each one is extremely

  • Any version of Flash (cs3-cs5) will not publish my file..

    Hi all,
this is the first time i encounter this problem.. I had the problem where a file would not open correctly which was also addressed at this forum. But this one is different. this file was created (from what i remember) in Flash 8, then opened/saved in all possible flash versions for updates in time.
While it will open just fine, it will not publish. The publish window with the percentage will open up for a split second, then it will close with no messages whatsoever, no actionscript errors, nothing. F12, the same thing again. No possible settings could solve this. I am willing to send the file for testing of course, have tried to publish using Flash cs4 and Flash cs5. I thought of going back to Flash 8 by opening the file and saving to a previous version but as soon as i open the file in Flash cs3 (while the file has been saved as cs3) it will not open the file with an error message that i cannot remember right now.
So the problem might lie in how Flash cs3 saved the file, but it will open just fine in cs4 and cs5 so the file is not corrupt in any means..
    any ideas?
    George
p.s. I tried deleting EVERYTHING off the stage and the library and yet it wont publish.. tried copying all frames on another empty file, couldnt publish either...

  • Can't do Publish/Publish Setting a movie in Flash CS3

I installed Flash CS3 while still keeping Flash 8. When I try
to publish/publish setting a movie, an alert pops up saying 'No
valid HTML Templates are available to complete this operation'.
Probably there was a conflict so I uninstalled both Flash
CS3, Flash 8 then installed Flash CS3 but the problem still comes
    up. What is that?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey,
First of all, thx for the answer.
The publish location is fine; it publishes to the same place,
like b4 the problem. Nice thought though.
What kind of problem could it have? And can it be fixed?
I've tried to rename it. Nothing.
It's a template that I've bought and I have the source file
in a ZIP, so every time it happens, after i've done some changes, I
copy them one by one, and then I publish it again and I'ts fine.
    I'm sick of doing it...
What it be possible for you to check the file?
    Thx,

That description is about as wide open as it gets! ;)
    Troubleshooting
is often like a detective story: the more clues one has to
    work with, the
more confidently one can begin the chase.
Well, my problem is that the cs3 starting to crash doesn't
really have an explanation for me. but I will put details here.
    > I run vista business 32 bit
    > I didn't have problems until today,using flash cs3 for

    I don't have CS3 installed on Vista, so I'm afraid I can't
    provide any
offhand suggestions. Since you haven't seen problems until
    today, the first
thing that strikes me is: what happened with today's FLA that
    was different
from your previous efforts? Did you import an unusual
    external asset (even
if only unsual for you)? Maybe you imported a corrupted JPG
    or PNG. Maybe
    a bad font?
I did nothing with the fla that started the crash, I imported
some bitmaps and when trying to publish it, it crashed. Also, I
created another fla, imported some random jpgs 2 I believe, tried
to export it to the same folder, and cs3 crashed, saved the fla
with another name garbage.fla No fonts were used
    > Hint:
    > If I save the same .fla in another folder, flash cs3
    doesn't crash
    > when publishing. why? this looks that is happening in
    the root
    > of the folder
Believe me, I'd be asking these "why" questions myself in
    your shoes.
What you're describing doesn't sound like a well known issue,
    so my hunch is
that something is awry with this particular FLA file --
    something not likely
to be easily reproduced. Since you can publish when saving to
    another
folder, I would run with that workaround for the time being.
    After saving
to a different folder, try using File > Save and Compact,
    then move the FLA
back to your original folder and try again. Or ... try File
    > Save As from
the new folder, and save the copy into your original folder.
In your duplicate post, you mentioned starting a thread of
    your own
(this one) but not hearing any responses. Obviously, I can
    only speak for
myself in this reply, but it may be that you didn't get
    responses because
your question is on the vague side. It doesn't describe a
    common issue
(like, for example, "Why can't I mask dynamic text?" [answer,
    "Make sure to
    embed your font outlines"]).
When I read these forums, I tend to skim the subject lines
    looking for
descriptive summaries. Many people post questions like "How
    did they do
this?" or "Help!" or "Flash question" ... none of which
    describe meaningful
topics. In my opinion, your subject line is useful, because
    it briefly
summarizes your question. That's a good thing. When I read
    the actual body
of your post, though, I quickly realized there wasn't enough
    (for me, at
least) to give you a solid answer. In this case, I've tried
    to give you a
few pointers anyway, but I'm only hazarding a few "try this"
    type
    suggestions.
It may be that others who read your post felt equally unable
    to answer
your questions with confidence -- at least, as stated.
Well, I did some research on the internet and there is a
quite more few people having the same problem, here is the other
    forum I found:
    cs3
    flash crash when publishing
I am sorry that I didn't post any more specifications of what
I was doing, but what I was doing was not something different or
unusual of what I have been doing for the last week at least. I was
just working with dw and flash together importing the .swf into an
html and launching the html from dw.

  • Publishing in Flash CS3

I am having a bit of trouble using Flash CS3. I have created
my flash file, and published it to my hard drive. There are two
files, one is the flash.swf file, and the other is index.html. With
Flash MX I used to put these two files on my server and everything

trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.]. How do I
    fix this?

    Todd,
Not sure what your exact publish settings are or the contents
of the movie... but you might want to set your publish settings to
Detect Flash Version in the HTML panel. CS3 will output a file
called AC_RunActiveContent.js and should be in the same folder with
the current file. Try and see if this fixes the problem...
otherwise give some more details about what is in your movie
    regarding any file accessing, etc.
BTW: Perhaps your server is not setup to run flash?

  • Problem with FLVPlayer in Flash CS3 (need to save out as Actionscript 3.0 SWf file)

I am using Flash CS3 and am trying to publish a SWf file that
makes use of the "FLVPlayback" component. I need for this SWF file
to be published as an Actionscript 3.0 file, so I have set my
publish settings to Flash Player 9.0 and Actionscript 3.0, but keep
    getting an error as follows:
"WARNING: The component 'FLVPlayback' requires ActionScript

Has anyone encountered this?? I am doing something wrong? I'm
pretty comfortable within Actionscript/Flash 2.0, but am only
beginning my first steps into the relam of CS3 and AS3.

Gotcha. You must have started the document in AS2, then
    changed the
publish settings. Each version of the language has its own
    version of the
FLVPlayback Component (written in the relevant language).
    Start over and
compare two compleley new FLA documents: make one for AS3 and
    one for AS2.
Open the Components panel and note the differences between
    the two. There
are a different set of Components depending on the language
    chosen for the
document. Drag the FLVPlayback Component from the Components
    panel in an
AS3 document, and you'll have the AS3 version.

  • PLEASE HELP ASAP! Button in Flash CS3 not working

I need help desperately. As soon as possible. I only know the
VERY basic's of flash, so I need it to be simple!! I am using Flash
CS3, but the only coding I know is from Flash 8.
1.I simply want to just be able to type out text that will be
my button. (I clearly know how to do this)
2.Convert that text to a button. (I know how to do this as
    well)
    3. Apply an action to the button. (I keep getting the error
"actions cannot be applied to the current selection")
    4. Have that button go to a specific place in the timeline
that I have named (It has the red flag next so I know where to send
    the button to)
    5. This is the ONLY code I know is even close to what I need
    to have it be at:
    on (release) {
    //Movieclip GotoAndStop Behavior
    this.gotoAndStop("graphic");
    //End Behavior
Is there a way to upload the flash files? If so I will
upload, because I know this sounds simple enough, but it wont work.
    Thanks
    Ashlee

You are trying to use AS1 in your movie, and the movie's
Publish settings are set to use AS3. You can use your current code
by opening the Publish Settings, going to the Flash tab and then
selecting AS1-AS2 in the Actionscript option.
A better, long term solution, would be to read through the
tutorials that come with Flash CS3 to learn the proper coding
    techniques to use with AS3.

  • Can I use AS2 in Flash CS3 ?

Is it possible to use in Flash Cs3 the AS2 and not just AS3 ?
I am only trying to do a web link from a button to some web
    site.....
    I wrote
    on (release) {
    getURL ("

and nothing happen....some women here asked same question a
month ago...people told her it is different from the AS2.....still
    I cant used AS2 in falsh cs3 ?
    or can I ?

you can mix as1 and as2 in an swf created in flash cs3 or you
can use as3 in a swf created in flash cs3. but you cannot mix as3
with either of the other two languages.
use the publish settings to choose which language you want to
    use in your swf.

  • Flash CS3 - Odd button problem

Hello, Ive upgraded to Flash CS3 and I'm having a problem
    with buttons.
When I open up my site, the old buttons work fine to navigate
the site and open up URL links. I have the actions on their own
layer instead of having an onRelease on each button.
However, when I create new buttons, they don't work.
I've even tried copying the existing working buttons,
applying the exact same actionscript to figure out what's going on,
but that also doesn't work, those buttons won't open up the URLs.
Am I perhaps using the wrong publish settings/flash player
    choice?
    Thanks

The answer is "skins" just search under "Creating skins for
some instances" in the Flash CS3 help file.

I wonder if your publish settings were configured for
    ActionScript 3.0
in Flash CS3 and you didn't realize it? AS3 is different in
    quite a few
ways from AS2, so that would be the first place I'd check. My
    hunch is that
you were trying to use AS2 in an AS3 document.

  • Flash cs3 newbie help - setting up a clicktag

I am just about to pull my hair out - please help as I don't have that much hair to pull out.
I created a flash file in Flash CS3 and was told I need to add a click tag for an agency who want to keep track of the click throughs for the ad.
I have created the invisible button layer and set up the 'hit' and tried and tried and tried to select the button and add some action script to it.
(which I have seen three different codes to use)
Each time I export it or publish it I get the error message: mouse events are permitted only for button insances on release. I have read and understand I need to assign the code to the button and not the frame but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to do that.
I select the button (which I have converted to a 'button') and F9 or left click to get the Actions panel and once I am there and try to use the '+' to add code, it automatically shows 'Current Select/Frame 1 in the left side of the Actions panel. I get that it is adding the code to the frame but how do I get it to add the code to the button???
So my question is 1) how do I add the code to the button and not the frame and 2) what code should I use?
Any and all help is GREATLY appreaciated!
oops...forgot to add I am using AS2. Thanks!

Kglad - thanks so much for all your help.
I spoke to a friend who corrected what I was doing.
Here's an explanation for those who may find the thread...
Click on the invisible button you created and press F9 (opens Actions)
(Ensure it says 'Actions: button' at top)
    Put this code in:
    on(release)
    var clickTAG="http://www.yourwebsite.com";
    if (clickTAG.substr(0,5)=="http:")
    getURL(clickTAG, "_blank");
Seems it's always a simple answer for a baffling question.
    Thanks again.

  • Flash CS3 timeline display problems

I have just upgraded to Flash CS3 and immediately noticed a
problem when viewing and working with the Timeline window. When I
click on a frame (keyframe or other) it highlights that frame
completely white, which means I can no longer tell what type of
frame it is. The same happens if I highlight a series of frames,
they are all white and hard to interact with. If I highlight a
series of frames and attempt to Right-Click, I can rarely get a
sub-menu to show for quick options like 'Remove Frames' and 'Create
Motion Tween'. Most of the time my Right-Click is ignored
    completely (ie nothing happens).
I have searched Google, Flashkit and Adobe site for help with
this, but no love. Has anyone else experienced this problem? The
rest of my CS3 install is working perfectly.
