Flash CS5 format to Flash CS3 Format

Hi.
I'm using Flash CS5 and i need to save the animations i am making on Flash CS3 format.
How can i do it?

Get a copy of Flash CS4 (or find someone who has it) so that you can save from 5 to 4, then from 4 to 3.  If you used any features that are new since CS3 they will be lost.  If you need to find CS4 you can trial versions at http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html

  • Something is corrupted: Code auto format, Flash CS3

    Not sure if this is the forum to post, but thought someone
    here would know where and kindly direct me if I'm in the wrong
    place!
    I have had Flash CS3 Pro installed for a while, but am only
    now using it regularly as AS 3.0 projects were few and far
    between...
    However, now that I am, I am being driven insane by the code
    autoformat that strips out parentheses and breaks all my code by
    changing the meaning of code. As far as I can make out, this is
    specific to my machine - implying something is corrupt. So, I
    uninstalled all versions of Flash and reinstalled CS3 specifically.
    The trouble is, code formatting is still dangerously buggy
    and now (because I have uninstalled Flash 8) I no longer have code
    formatting even for AS 2.0!
    Has anyone come across this before?
    Any ideas how to get past it?
    G
    PS: As an additional piece of trivia that may be related,
    Flash player is now not correctly reported so I am getting "Install
    flash plugins" warnings from a couple of sites even though I have
    it and it works fine.

    Hi,
    Sorry, but you are not understanding me - I do not have an AS
    2.0 formatter because the formatter I have with CS3 breaks code no
    matter what version of ActionScript I am in - the Flash 8 one
    didn't.
    As for using non-standard coding, here is an example:
    halfWinPositionWidthRelative=visibleImageW / (2 * fullWidth);
    Is formatted to:
    halfWinPositionWidthRelative=visibleImageW / 2 * fullWidth;
    To give you an idea of why this is so bad:
    var visibleImageW =50;
    var fullWidth = 1500;
    trace(visibleImageW / 2 * fullWidth) // traces 37500
    trace(visibleImageW / (2 * fullWidth)) // traces
    0.0166666666666
    As another symptom (more an irritant than a problem) all my
    "new WhateverClassNameIAmUsing();" declarations get formatted to
    "new WhateverClassNameIAmUsing ;"
    This means that I _cannot_ use the auto formatter for any of
    my work as it _breaks_ my code - resulting in endless loops, random
    madness and absolute corruption of all the work I have done.
    I have compared with another CS3 user and the results are
    specific to my machine - which is why I want to find out how to fix
    the corruption on my machine.

  • Flash cs3 unexpected file format ... how can I open this .fla??

    Hi there,
    Someone sent me a .fla file that I can't seem to get opened in my Flash CS3 program.  I think it's because it was made in CS4 which isn't backwards compatible with CS3.
    So, now I'm wondering if there is a way I can open the .fla file in CS3.  Better yet, is there some kind soul here that could possibly open the .fla in CS4, and save it as a CS3 and send it back to me?
    I would normally just ask the guy to do this himself but he left on vacation today and I haven't had a chance to try and open the file until now.
    Thanks
    Mike

    upload your fla and post a link.

  • Project created in Flash CS3 & Flash CS5 crashes both Safari & Firefox

    I have a user with a brand new image including Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and the Adobe CS5.  When creating a project in Flash CS5 and then trying to view it in Safari & Firefox the plug-in crashes which then brings down the browser with it.  I went and installed Flash CS3 (as this is what he is used to using) and the problem still persists.
    Any ideas?

    anyone?

  • Loop then stop Flash CS3 vs Flash CS5

    I recently upgraded from Flash CS3 to CS5. I'm creating a banner in Flash CS5 using ActionScript 2.0. I want it to loop 3 times then stop. I'm using the same code as I did in CS3. When I view it using Flash Player, its fine but my client is saying it loops continuously when they view it. Has the code changed since CS3? Here is the code I'm currently using:
    ON FIRST FRAME I ENTERED:
    var count;
    if(!count){
         count = 0;
     THEN ON THE LAST FRAME I ENTERED:
    count += 1;
    if(count == 3){
    stop();
    I'm Action Script challenged, so please be specific. Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello kglad,
    Thanks for confirming that the script was fine. Seems like there was something wrong with the swf file, not the script. Thanks for ruling out the script as the problem source.

  • Getting Flash CS3/CS4 AIR1.0 app to work in Flash CS5

    This is a question in regards to Flash CS5 but since it's specific to AIR I'm posting here.
    I have a Flash CS3 AIR 1.0 project and I can't get it to compile in Flash CS5. If I recall I installed some extension for Flash CS3 to be able to create AIR apps. It was an Adobe extension.
    The app involves two SWFs. The first is the main app, Main.fla, the second is a window panel template, Panel.fla. The Main app would compile and include the Panel.swf which it would instantiate and load into new windows to create a paneled app.
    I was able to open Main.fla and publish in CS5 with no problems. The profile even says AIR 1.0 in the properties panel, although when I click edit it shows AIR 2.0 selected in the dropdown, and there is no option for another version of AIR -- which version of AIR is actually being created? Not important as long as it work...
    The Panel.fla on the other hand I cannot get to compile. The profile still says AIR 1.0 in properties but the dropdown in the publish settings says Flash Player 9, and when I compile it breaks on any AIR references, for instance:
    1119: Access of possibly undefined property nativeWindow through a reference with static type flash.display:Stage.
    I have this classpath:
    $(AppConfig)/ActionScript 3.0 AIR 1.0/Classes
    But apparently that is no longer good. I've looked in all the Flash CS5 directories I could find and there is no such dir.
    The issue here is that Panel.fla is NOT an AIR app, it's a SWF which runs in an AIR app. How should get this working?

    I changed the profile of both to AIR2.0, and it still shows AIR1.0 in the properties panel. I'm able to publish the Panel.swf now but it also generates an unwanted panel-app.xml -- unwanted because panel is not an app, it's merely a SWF to run inside the main app.
    Is there a better way? And why does it still say AIR1.0 in the properties panel?

  • Any version of Flash (cs3-cs5) will not publish my file..

    Hi all,
    this is the first time i encounter this problem.. I had the problem where a file would not open correctly which was also addressed at this forum. But this one is different. this file was created (from what i remember) in Flash 8, then opened/saved in all possible flash versions for updates in time.
    While it will open just fine, it will not publish. The publish window with the percentage will open up for a split second, then it will close with no messages whatsoever, no actionscript errors, nothing. F12, the same thing again. No possible settings could solve this. I am willing to send the file for testing of course, have tried to publish using Flash cs4 and Flash cs5. I thought of going back to Flash 8 by opening the file and saving to a previous version but as soon as i open the file in Flash cs3 (while the file has been saved as cs3) it will not open the file with an error message that i cannot remember right now.
    So the problem might lie in how Flash cs3 saved the file, but it will open just fine in cs4 and cs5 so the file is not corrupt in any means..
    any ideas?
    George
    p.s. I tried deleting EVERYTHING off the stage and the library and yet it wont publish.. tried copying all frames on another empty file, couldnt publish either...

  • Horrible drawing performance in Flash CS5.5 compared to CS3 on Mac

    I have decided (again) to try and move on to a later version of Flash. I was on CS3 for a very long time, and so far did not have any reason to upgrade mainly because the new versions are just terrible. But I never give up. So I was told that Flash CS5.5 is the most OK to upgrade to, and with some extensions I can get it running almost like CS3. So I setup the app, the shortcuts, the extensions, the workspace, it takes like half a day, and then I discover, that I literally cannot draw on the damn thing with my Wacom pen. Because the performance is just cr***p !!! Drawing tools in Flash are so bad anyway, but now it is even worse. When I draw a curved line Flash CS5.5 just cannot process it and creates many corners with straight lines. It is obviously seen when drawing fast lines - look at the attached pictures how CS5.5 performs much much worse than CS3 (I have reduced Smoothing to 0 to get a clear idea of what's happening). What is the matter here? It isn't even funny! We buy all those new technologies for thousands of dollars to discover, that I can draw better with a mouse on Windows Paint from year1990?!
    I'm on MacBook Pro 17" i7 QuadCore, 2.3 Mhz, 16 GB RAM, and the Wacom tablet works perfect on all other apps. I assume there is no way that the problem is somewhere outside Flash CS5.5 itself, especially that CS3 shows much better results. I am gonna try Flash CS6 just to compare, but I didn't like many things there too, so probably I'm going to stay in Flash CS3 forever...
    Flash CS5.5:
    Flash CS3:

    I have the latest Wacom drivers for my model - it's the same driver for all Intuos and Cintiq models. Besides, as I said - the performance is perfect in all other software, except Flash. And also as I said - in Flash CS6 the performance is better than CS5.5, but not better than CS3... It is acceptable though, because it's rare that I will draw such fast lines - in my case I can see a clear difference in performance if I draw fast or slow. I have tried to compare results on my older MacBook Pro and I get similar results...

  • Converting a CS3 project with assignments to CS5 format

    Hi,
    is there an easy way to convert CS3 assignments to the new CS5 format?
    We have a huge (370 pages; 70 assignments) publication that runs once a year.
    Last year we were working with InDesign/InCopy CS3 (5.04).
    This year we have to produce the new issue in CS5. Production is starting soon (1-2 weeks) and we want to re-use the old publication as much as possible. Therefore we want to start with last year's layout and just make the necessary changes. Layout/Design is pretty stable and won't change much.
    Unfortunately, both InDesign CS5 and InCopy CS5 can't check out the old assignments - they have to be converted. On a smaller publication we already re-created the assignments but I really don't want to do that with 70 assignments unless abolutely necessary. The whole thing is pretty complex...
    Is there a way to re-create existing assignments in the new format? I'm not too afraid to start scripting something but I hope there's an easier way. I guess we aren't the only ones facing this problem.
    I'm greatful for any hints in all directions.
    Best regards,
    Mike

    Anne-Marie and Bob,
    thanks for taking the time to answer - had to digest that, though
    Weeeeeelll I fear it's not that easy.
    @Bob:
    Over here the project (publication) isn't done until it's printed. So we have to cope with last second changes.I fear that we will never be able to exactly estimate when it's time to unlink the InCopy stories. Probably nothing that's new to you...
    But I see the point...
    So we should unlink everything now and rebuild the assignments from scratch for the 2010 issue? I will have to test that. It's PIA but if it gets the job done... The last thing I want is to have the file break down in mid-project.
    @Anne-Marie: yes, those are real actual assignments, all created from the layouted pages (the format is pretty strict with the space each article/segment gets so that was pretty clear from the beginning). One .inca per assignment (one assignment per article/segment) + several .incx for the text frames it contains. Overall number of .incx files: 1059.
    What I (we) want to do is to take the old version, archive it (done that) and start a new issue thats an exact copy in the beginning. But the new one has to be in CS5.
    I'm not really comfortable with going the idml route - we have about 50 linked (and formatted) excel tables in there that are very sensitive to minor changes. In fact, I dare not to touch them at all if possible.
    Will saving to idml keep all the formatting? Just getting the tables to work took about a week but saved us about 2 weeks of editing time and a lot of pain. We absolutely can't lose them. But I guess trying it won't hurt...
    Anyway, you have certainly pointed me in the right direction - I will have to discuss it with my colleagues before actually doing anything to the files.
    Many thanks,
    Mike
    ps:
    I had the impression that when you "save as" an InDesign  file with assignments in it it always re-creates new assignments instead  of using the old ones. We had some hassle with that "feature" when we  tried to make backup copies of the first InDesign/InCopy projects we did.

  • Flash cs3, cs4 and cs5 always not responding in windows7

    I have installed adobe flash cs3, cs4 and cs5 in windows 7, but it is always not responding when I run them. While they are running normally when running on my WindowsXP. I had to reinstall them several times, the result remains the same. Is there any problem in my windows 7 ? can someone help me? thanx.

    Problem is not in your windows 7 OS, since i was working CS4 and now i m working with CS5 in windows 7 only. And i feel more comfort with this new OS. May be you hardware configuration might not be support to new technology like windows 7 and Flash CS5. Beca it is need high hardward configuration

  • Anyone know Flash CS3 embed font's Glyphs Range!! with font class(no TextField )

    I have add some font by Font class in the library
    (TextFeild.embedFonts=true)
    but the font's glyphs looks not enough.
    when i use text String " ü ä ö ß π
    à â ç è é ê ë î ï
    ô ù û œ "
    only the "π" and "œ" is can be visible.
    Font.hasGlyphs also return false;
    if i only create a TextField, and Click the Embed button
    selection glyphs range.
    the text will be fine.
    but i won't use TextField by drag to the stage
    i heard in flex:
    @font-face {
    src:local("Arial");
    fontFamily: myFont;
    flashType: true;
    unicodeRange:
    U+0041-U+005A, /* [A..Z] */
    U+0061-U+007A, /* a-z */
    U+0030-U+0039, /* [0..9] */
    U+002E-U+002E; /* [.] */
    so what can i do in Flash CS 3?
    thanks a lot
    i really tried working on this.maybe i just need go back use
    the .....TextField.

    Im not sure if u can do it with flash cs3.
    i change a little ur code to :
    package {
    //import flash.util.describeType;
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    import flash.text.TextField;
    import flash.text.TextFormat;
    import flash.text.AntiAliasType;
    import flash.text.TextFieldAutoSize;
    import flash.text.TextFormatAlign;
    import flash.text.Font;
       public class Test extends MovieClip {
          // be sure this is pointing to a ttf font in your hardrive
          [Embed(source="arial.ttf", fontFamily="foo", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype")]
          public var arialfont:Class;
          public function Test() {
              Font.registerFont(arialfont)
                var format:TextFormat          = new TextFormat();
              format.font              = "foo";
              format.color                = 0xFFFFFF;
              format.size                 = 130;
              var label:TextField         = new TextField();
              label.embedFonts            = true;
              label.autoSize              = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
              label.antiAliasType         = AntiAliasType.ADVANCED;
              label.defaultTextFormat     = format;
              label.text                  = "Hello World!";
              addChild(label);
              trace(label.text);
              label.setTextFormat(format);
    and it works fine with flash cs4, only first time it will ask to confirm flex sdk location ( have to have flex sdk to use embed, u can downlaod it free from adobe.com)
    hope that helps

  • Flash CS3 + Air 1.0 = no test?

    I just installed the new AIR 1.0 plug-in for Flash CS3. I've
    been developing an AIR app in Beta3 and when I open one of my FLAs
    since the update, I can't test or debug my movie from within Flash.
    Is this no longer supported? or have I botched that really
    annoying 4,000 step
    "uninstall/manuallydeleteabunchoffiles/install/butdon'tinstallthisbeforethat/nowyoumayins tall"
    process?
    Any help on how to remedy the problem would be greatly
    appreciated...

    jcedens,
    Please try deleting the application descriptor file
    (swfname-app.xml) that is in the same directory as your swf, then
    test movie again. The problem is because the xml file is of a Beta
    format. Another way to reset it to the release format is to open
    the application and installer settings dialog. Also make sure
    adl.exe is not running in the processes (ctrl alt del, select Task
    Manager > Processes).
    Thanks,
    San

  • Flash CS3 "slides" - any way to convert to newer version?

    Hello,
    I hope this is the right forum for my question.  I'm working on a massive project of manually converting very old Flash CS3 FLA files to Flash CC or Flash CS6.  I’m required to preserve all animation and functionality, but several thousand of these files were created in the discontinued “Insert Screen Type -> Slide” format.
    Is there a tool or workaround that would allow me to quickly convert an FLA file containing these old Flash “slides” directly into individual slides in a newer version such as Flash CS6 or CC?  My current process is extremely tedious and involves:
    opening up the original file in CS3
    selecting one of the many slides within the file
    copying all Frames from each slide within original file
    creating a new Flash file in a newer version of Flash for EACH ORIGINAL SLIDE
    In the new Flash file: creating Layers to duplicate all Layers of EACH slide in original Flash file
    copying EACH SLIDE’S individual frames and pasting them into similarly named Layers in a new file
    unfortunately, half the time the animation is not preserved and I end up recreating the slide from scratch
    There must be a more efficient way!  Surely there is a way to preserve the endless hours of animation done by the original creators.  Is there a tool that will export say, 100 slides into 100 new individual Flash files?  I’ve used Captivate and Dreamweaver for years but I’m relatively new to Flash, so maybe I’m overlooking a simple solution.
    Any assistance would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Lisa

    Save as a Flash 8 FLA, then find someone with Flash 8 to save
    it as a Flash 7 FLA.

  • How to export height quality gif frm Flash CS3?

    Hi,
    When i export a .GIF movie from Flash CS3 , the movie quality is not good, here is some dot dots in the gif movie.
    How to export height quality gif ? . Kindly explain pls as soon possible...
    Thanks & Regards
    Mohan

    GIF is a color restricted format with on/off support for transparency. There's really no settings you can tweak to output a better GIF. You have a drop-down during GIF sequence export to allow transparency, select the amount of colors (up to 256) and you can choose dither to save a little filespace. The only 2 things in there that really matter are dither and amount of colors used to export.
    If your content is very similar (e.g. not a lot of complex gradients/shadows/etc) and is limited in color use turning down the amount of colors used and dithering is your only option.
    Make sure you're exporting the GIF via "Publish Settings" so you get a single animated GIF and not file->export->movie because this creates a separate sequence of GIF images for each frame.

  • Flash CS3 Pro

    I just started using flash to import some movies to make my
    movies smaller by exporting to a flash movie. I'm no pro with
    video. I"m just doing this as a hobbie when I'm away from work.
    I just installed Flash CS3 Pro mac and here is the problem
    I'm encountering. After importing my video from another file format
    I make whatever necessary edits while in flash I then export to a
    .swf but only my local machine can play the swf file. I see two
    options under exporting options for flash 1) is local files only
    and 2) network access only. Can someone please shed some light on
    the issue?
    I copied the files over to my pc and the PC will not play the
    flash movie. I uploaded them to my servers on the web and they
    cannot play the movies either. I'm lost at this point.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
    T

    How did you import the video? Did you embed in in the
    timeline or create an FLV which loads as an external file? If you
    did the latter, you'll need to include the FLV file in addition to
    the SWF.
    Here are some great tutorials on Flash video:
