Flash CS5 Pro/Flash Builder 4 Workflow

I'm new to using Flash Builder as an AS3 editor for Flash Pro projects. I've followed multiple tutorials on the workflow between the two but keep hitting a snag.
For example: If I create a new FLA file, edit the document class and select Flash Builder as the editor it opens FB and opens the new ActionScript Class dialog. All of the proper data is filled in but the "Finish" button is greyed out. If I browse to set the package to the default and click OK it displays an error at the top of the dialog saying "Super class flash.display.MovieClip cannot be resolved for the selected project." This happens any time I enter "flash.display.MovieClip" in the Superclass field when creating a new Class or attempt to edit the class definition of a MovieClip in the FLA library. Why is it not recognizing references to flash.display.MovieClip? Even when I use the FB code editor it doesn't code hint anything in the flash.display package. Any clues?

I re-linked playerglobal.swc in my ActionScript Build Path and it's working now.

When I start Flash cs5 there appears a small box which tells me that it is importing files, where I didn't ask for. This happened after I imported a video animation from Photoshop Cs3. Hi, My name is David and I followed a course creating my own website from Lynda.com by Paul Trani. After that I created my first own webste. After I finished it, everything was working well in flash and firefox. I have only one problem and question concerning the feed back form for sending info from my website to my emailaddres. I created my website “LisbonDreamWalking”in Flash CS5 pro. I herein have a contact page, where people can send an email for a walk in Lisbon, date,the number of people etc. Now I want through my ISP / host funpic.org, that the input, info text fields to be sended to my emailaddress [email protected]. My mail URL adress iss: http://lisbondreamwalk.li.funpic.org This is a free host, so they don't work with forms like in the course, and I need some additional info for the php. I lost the serial number of my Flash Cs5 PRO

Posted yesterday a problem about my serial Flash Cs5 Pro. I do not have this number. I have this program for many years and this serial should have been lost on my old PC. Recently, however, every time I open the program, I asked is the serial. I can not open the program and have a number of unfinished works and other some customers. I need to redeem this number and count on the support of you. How should I proceed?

Find your serial number quickly
If you registered the software when you originally installed it then you might be able to find it in your Adobe account online in the Products section.
If it's a Windows machine then try running Belarc Advisor

Open flash cs5 in flash 8

Is there any way to open a .fla file saved in flash cs5 in flash 8? or convert a cs5 to flash 8 file?
I did some school work on cs5 and the moderator is going to be marking it using flash 8.

Hi,
Unfortunately, there's no easy way to save a CS5 file as any other version than itself and CS4. I always keep a copy of previous Flash versions in order to be able to save them back to the version I want. It's a cumbersome, but it works. If you can send the file to me I can save it in Flash 8 format and send it back to you again.

Best practices for Flash CS5 and Flash Builder 4 integration?

With Flash CS5's new XFL file structure/format, what's the best way to structure project files for Flash CS5 integration with Flash Builder 4? Flash CS5 autocreates a folder named after the xfl file as the outer container, and then all the assets/xfl within it. Should this folder be used as the project folder for Flash Builder 4, or better to nest the xfl container folder in a "real" project folder? I would presume the latter, since you might have multiple XFL files in one project. I was hoping to see some automatic linkages between document class of the Flash CS5 XFL file and any default ActionScript class created by Flash Builder, but so far I seem to need to specify a document class directly in Flash CS5's environment and making sure that the path to a default class created by Flash Builder is correct.

Most likely, you know that, but just in case, you can integrate new Flash project into existing Flex 4 project from within the Flash Builder by choosing either Flash Component or Flash Container from the FB Design view. In such workflow Flash Builder opens the Flash CS 4 (I assume that should be the same for CS5) and takes care of the integrating the newly created Flash project into original Flex 4 project.

Flash CS5 error: Flash can not parse this document

The amount of times Flash CS has crashed on me and ive lost documents is unbelievable now. Yesterday i closed down Flash CS5 normally (no crash or anything) and today i load my file back up and it says in the output "Flash can not parse this document" with an error saying an error occurred opening file bla bla. I had a backup of the file too ALSO that does not work with the same problem. The last time this happened to me i was told it was because i had a document on the network so ive been working locally on my drive ever since and this problem arises again.
The project i was working on was important and i want a solution to this problem please.

Upgrade an iOS app made in Flash CS5 to Flash CS5.5

Hi, I developed an App and I published it on the Apple App Store about a month ago, when I was still using Adobe Flash CS5.
Now I bought the latest version of Adobe Flash, the CS5.5 and I want to upgrade my exiting app with the Retina Display support.
The problem is that when I try to upload my IPA into Application Loader, it gives me a strange error... it says that I can't upgrade my app because I'm using an higher mininumOSVersion......in fact Flash CS5 has got a 3.0/3.2 minum and the CS5.5 4.0/4.2........How can I change them and upgrade my app???
Please, help me it's for an important company...

Here is my understanding of the updating rules for iOS apps. Once you publish an app targeting a specific OS, any further update to that app must target that OS. Since Flash CS5.5 only targets 2.6 and later, which has a dependency on iOS 4 or later, you are as you discovered stuck. I think you solution is to create a new version, "My Awesome App HD" and then publish via CS5.5 to get the performance and Retina support you want.

Opening a Flash CS5 in Flash CS4

I just bought Flash CS5 for own computer. I already have CS4 on the computer at work. Unfortunately I get an error when I tried to open a CS5 project in the CS4 at work. My boss is unwilling to buy CS5. Is it truly so that you cannot open a CS5 project in CS4 or is there a way to adjust a project in both systems.

How do I completely uninstall Flash 8 Pro & Flash 8 Video Encoder

I have Flash Pro 8 & Video Encoder 8 as well as Flash 10
on my Mac and want to completely uninstall, including preferences,
etc and reinstall. Can someone help me with the steps involved...

You'll need to go back into Flash and build the links into the buttons before you create the swf's. Look in the Flash help docs regarding the getURL function as far as the code you'll need for linking. If you have problems, post in the Flash AS1 and AS2 forum.
Beyond that, don't be surprised if some feedback arises here regarding using Flash buttons.

Flash cs5 suddenly flash selects whole timeline

hi
suddenly my flash document will not let me select a range of keyframes. Clicking on any frame selects the whole timeline.
Control click will select an individual frame. So I have the option of selecting 1 frame or whole timeline and nothing in between.
Span based selection is not turned on.
I have tried restarting but problem persists. I can go back to an older document and edit that timeline as normal, but I have done an awful lot of work since that older vesion.

I have a trial version of flash builder (eclipse plug-in) and registered flash cs5 pro

at first it did asked if I want to edit the file in flash builder or not, and it didnt work.
now it won't even ask.

I gave this a shot, using CS5, and when I started a new AS3 file I got the appropriate prompt asking me which application should edit my file...

When I chose Flash Builder, (which I had already running), it opened the new AS3 file there with no problems. Interestingly, when I closed FB, and with Flash Pro created a new AS3 class, I wasn't prompted (and the AS file opened in Flash Pro) - so it does require that FB be running, or else Flash Pro will be the default editor.
For the issue of Flash no longer prompting you "Who" will open a new file, you can change that here:
Edit > Preferences > ActionScript > Several items down is the Class editor. Change that to Flash Builder
If you still have problems...Are you able to successfully launch Flash Builder 4 by itself? Or has the trial expired?

For the round-trip workflow between Flash Builder and Flash Professional to work you need to install (and use) Flash Builder 4 as standalone, not as a plug-in to Eclipse.

Publish timestamp error - Air 2 Flash CS5

Hello, I use Adobe Flash CS5 Pro to create AIR presentations and when I try to build an AIR application, Flash fails to create the timestamp for the self-signed certificate and shows an error "There was an error connecting to the timestamp server. You might not have a connection to the network, or the server itself may have a problem".
I've tried publishing at home and the server seems to work, so I guess it's something related with the company firewall. Can anyone provide any information about what might be blocking a connection to the timestamp server? Is there some other setting that I can change (other than the JRE proxy settings)?

Our timestamp server url is https://timestamp.geotrust.com/tsa, however this isn't a normal webserver so it gives me a 404 when I try and navigate to it. I'm not sure is there is a way or utility to verify it's online other than going through the ADT process.
