Flash cs6 debugger won't stop on breakpoints - productivity killer bug

hey all
help me before i punch the screen out of frustration!!!
Flash cs6 says "Breakpoint not set; No executable code at..." and won't stop at the breakpoint although i checked everything (believe me i did). I also googled for answers.
This is a bug since it comes and goes randomly (mostly comes, rarly goes).
The actionscript side on my project is very large - so you may not be able to reproduce this yourself. (i suspect this is something to do with a lot of actionscript, memory stuff - like code completion problems).
Is there anyway to clear some kind of FLA metadata that might hold the debugging info?
thank you!!!

Hi Amy, thanks for showing concern. No, there were no such scenario with my SWF since I had created a new AIR type of project with Flash CS6 installed. I don't know how really we can explain this problem (debugging) with a newly installed software; but simply the debugger never worked with the installation, so I just removed and moved to MacOS where it was working at least.
I am not sure even if the Flash CS has some dependencies - if I consider its the issue with my PC (installation).

  • Flash debugger doesn't stop on breakpoints

I don't know why but i've got fla files that I can't debug.
I'm able to launch debugger and the swf file is correctly run when I do it, but if for instance I add a trace in my code and add a breakpoint on it, it will appear in the output but the debugger doesn't stop on the breakpoint.
It's a pretty big project that uses a quite numbers of external swc libraries, home produced for the most, and I can't figure where could this bug come from. All the more if I create a simple fla file with a simple document class attached to it the debugger works perfectly.
So if anyone already encountered the problem or got an idea over any reason that could make the debugger to not stop on breakpoint, I'd appreciate.

I'm back but I have still not found the cause of the problem.
I answered if the fact I work on a server could be the cause, but moving my files to local didn't resolve the problem.
I also have the problem sometimes even without using swc libraries, just with as3 source files.
I even tried to add the breakpoints manually in the Flash's xml debug file but successless.
However, I found a little trick that can be helpful. When the debugger bugs like that, instead of adding breakpoints, I throw Errors, and then the debugger stop on the line where the error is thrown, giving you access to the content of all the variables at that point. But you still cannot use step by step.

  • Debugger won't halt on Breakpoint in any project

In my Cs6 Flash (I still use it because it supports TFL) the debugging function suddenly stopped working. Debugging mode will not be shown on breakpoints. Throwing an Error brings it up but breakpoints do nothing. I compared this in cc and there the breakpoints did still work.
How could I find a solution to this?
I saw another thread here with this question marked as answered but the answers didn't work for me.
One thing I did before this stopped working tried to open a fla from recent files that I moved to another folder. Don't know is this has anything to do with it.

And next day it doesn't halt on my breakpoints anymore.... very strange.
    Edit:
Found out breakpoint does work when I add it while the swf is already running.

  • IPhone proejct: XCode debugger will not stop on breakpoints

I've got XCode 3.1.2 on OS X 10.5.5. I have an iPhone project that builds fine but the debugger will not hit any of the breakpoints I set. I've tried all the standard fixes that I find on the net:
    1. I've turned off 'Load Symbols Lazily' in XCode preferences
    2. My active config is Debug
    3. Optimization level is 0 in build settings
    4. I've cleaned all targets and rebuilt
    5. I use Build and Debug (as opposed to Build and Run)
I thought I might have inadvertently tweaked settings on my project. So I created a new project and that one has the same problem.
I'm hoping that I am missing something easy here. My debugger was working just a few days back but all of a sudden it has stopped.
    Thanjs in advance

Occasionally I run into this problem, and it is still a mystery to me.. however, if I put a break in the appDidFinishLoading, or some other very early method, it always seems to work, and then the other breakpoints work too! I wish I understood why.

  • CS6 InDesign Won't Stop Spinning Beach Ball After Opening

My Mac was acting up tonight and it told me some InDesign-related files were damaged in the process. Now when I open InDesign or an InDesign file, I can’t do anything with the application because the beach ball keeps spinning after the application is launched and I have to force quit it. I tried deleting the preference file and uninstall InDesign and install it again and no luck.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I just uninstall and reinstall InDesign and saw this error report:

  • CS6 Debugger not at breakpoint

This is really strange. The CS6 debugger would work as expected but now it does not settle at breakpoint. I have reduce the code to the simplest below.
Debugger was working last time I used it.
When I "Debug Movie->Flash professional", the breakpoint with yellow arrow does not come up on screen, It is still the red dot where I set the break point.
However, if I step over it, the out does show the out "Hello there"
I rebooted my PC and updated to Flash professional 12.0.2.529 to no avail. Does it have anything to do with file decompression (in Output message) ?
    Please Help !
    Thanks
    Sean

I installed CS5.5 and the problem went away. Adobe folks should take note - CS6 has a very basic debugger bug.

  • LED won't stop flashing, even when there are no new notifications

The LED on my BlackBerry won't stop flashing, and I can't work out why. I have no new emails, messages, Facebook notifications, Twitter mentions, appointments/calendar events, and the LED didn't flash for new articles in the TIME magazine app any way. None of the other apps have anything to notify me of either.
I updated the OS some time ago, so I can't see that being the cause for the problem, which means I can not work out why the LED is still flashing, unless my BlackBerry is broken.
Has anybody else had this problem?
    Running OS v4.6.1.310 (Platform 4.2.0.127)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi danphynes,
Are you still experiencing this issue? If so, what color is the LED? Can you verify that the LED coverage indicator is disabled in Options -> Screen/Keyboard? Is the LED flashing red continually or does it stop for periods of time?

  • Flash CS6 won't launch.

    Hi there,
My Flash CS6 won't launch anymore. I've used it before but am not able to anymore.
When I start Flash CS6 the loading screen pops up and disappears after a few seconds without starting the program.
    Solutions I've tried without results;
    - Opening a Flash file directly to start Flash
    - Reinstall Flash
Im running Flash on Windows 7 64-bit.
If anyone can help me to get it running it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Luuk

  • AE won't stop flashing "amber"

My Airport Extreme won't stop flashing amber and it is no longer broadcasting its wireless network, which is bad news for me. All of the wired Ethernet router features are still working, as the device is attached to my cable modem and all network devices (i.e. my Mac Pro, BD player, DirecTV receiver) attached to the Airport Extreme via Ethernet are seeing the internet and working, but wireless is dead. Airport Utility cannot find the device, so I can't even do a manual setup, because that option is grayed out. I've tried restarting the unit several times, but to no avail -- it just restarts and begins flashing the amber light. What should I do? Is my AE's wireless functionality dead?

No clue why its doing it, maybe some corrupt settings?
But if you want to fix it, I would recommend doing a factory reset. To do that press and hold the reset button on the back for 10-15 seconds, until the light stats flashing very fast, then let go of the reset button and let the airport reboot.
That should fix your problems, only downside is that you'll have to set it all up again since after a factory reset all your settings get wiped out.

  • Flash won't stop looping

I have imported a 4 second SWF into Captivate 4. I want it to play through once then stop on the last frame of the SWF. The SWF has a stop embedded on the last frame. The problem is; it won't stop, but keeps on looping right through the SWF stop. I tried placing a 'Next' button with a "Pause after n seconds" on it and used varying intervals from 1 to 5 seconds for the pause to take effect but, you guessed it, the SWF just keeps on a-rolling along. The screen does stay put and does not continue until the 'Next' button is clicked - but I'm trying to get the SWF to play nice, and it won't!
It seems to be the opposite problem to this post > http://forums.adobe.com/thread/607598 where they want to keep it looping, but it stops instead. Unfortunately there's no answer in this post so I can't reverse engineer a solution!
Caviat: A colleague created the swf to my spec and I'm assuming they did in fact put the stop where requested. Will post an update if they did not do this.

Your mismatched timing might be due to the frame rate of the Flash SWF not matching the frame rate of the Captivate movie.
Check with your Flash developer again to find out what the frame rate was (e.g. 30 frames per second).  Get him to match it to the Captivate project.
The issue with Flash animations needing to be on the main timeline has been documented before in these forums.  It wasn't an issue in Cp4 but has become so in Cp5 because the new architecture actually loads all the animations at the beginning of the movie. This means that by the time you reach the slide where you want the animation to play, it's already played long before.  This only affects SWF animation that have buried the animation inside a symbol, which is what Flash developers often do to make it all easier to resize and reposition as needed.  When the animation is happening one level down from the main timeline, you can trigger this animation to work properly in Captivate 5 by using some ActionScript in the Flash animation's main timeline.  Here's how:
Create your animation as a symbol on a single keyframe so that the animation happens on the level one level down from the main timeline.
Give the animation symbol an instance name (e.g. Fred).
Add a new layer to the main timeline for ActionScript.  You're only going to need two frames on the main timeline with keyframes on each one.
Put a stop(); action on the second frame so that it stops the main timeline.
    On the first keyframe put this code or similar: Fred.gotoAndPlay(1);
What happens here is that when the Captivate SWF loads it will load your animation and start playing it but it will be stopped at the second frame of the main timeline.  When it gets to the slide where you want it to play, it will begin playing again, hit the first frame and then the AS code there will tell the Fred animation to play from its first frame. Hopefully there will be a stop action on its own timeline to terminate it as well.
I've had to use this trick several times when trying to use the Right_Mark and Wrong_Mark tick and cross SWF animations that come with Captivate 5.  They've obviously not been updated to work properly since the change from Cp4.
    Hope this helps.

  • Audio error message on playback and P Pro CS6 won't stop playback. Have to force quit.

Hello: I'm getting an audio error message on playback and P Pro CS6 won't stop playback. Have to force quit.
Earlier in the project, I would crash when moving audio up/down tracks or up/down time line.
    Any thoughts?

That screenshot will help us figure out what's going wrong, but I won't have any news until at least July 8 because our offices are shut down next week. In the meantime, two suggestions:
Download CC and see if this crash occurs in the new version.
Google cpp-99 premiere pro audio prefetch. I got several hits, but not dig into them to see if any had a solution or workaround.

  • [4.0 EA2] Debugger not stopping at breakpoints/not working at all

When running the debugger in SQL Developer either the debugger immediately connects then disconnects after executing the code WITHOUT stopping at breakpoints or the debugger hangs and the only actions I can choose is to terminate or to pause.
The first issue happens a lot more frequently. I am attempting to debug a procedure in a package where the there are several breakpoints throughout the code including at the very start. After checking my tables in which the procedure acts upon before and after running the debugger I can see that the data has been altered so the debugger has ran through the procedure and executed the code without stopping. I have checked this on very simple code where the breakpoint code has been called and have experienced the same result.

    Hi
Have you compiled for debug? - Yes
Are the breakpoints definitely on code lines?- There are several lines of code which have up to 5 consecutive breakpoints
You can also set the preference Tools|  Preferences|Debugger|Start Debugging Option to 'Step Into'.  That should stop at the first executable line. - This worked thank you, I can now access the debugger and test my work.
On swapping the preferences back to 'Run Until a Breakpoint Occurs' (which it was originally set as) the debugger now correctly stops a the breakpoints. I didn't make any changes to the code/debugger parameters or anything so I'm rather confused to why its suddenly started working .
But anyway thank you for the help,
    James

  • Flash CS6: Android debug "unable to connect to the debugger"

I'm using Flash CS6 on a Windows 7 machine. I'm trying to debug on a Nexus 4 (yes, USB debugging is enabled on the device).
When I select "AIR Settings > Deployment > Debug" and publish, the app is installed on my device but it just shows a black screen for awhile, then finally a dialog on my phone appears that says:
    Adobe AIR
Unable to connect to the debugger (MyPC.home)
    Enter IP address or Hostname:
    [text input]
    [OK] [Cancel]
Neither IP or hostname seems to connect the debugger.
If I press Cancel I can use the app. I can also deploy the app as "Device release" just fine. I just don't get any debug output in Flash Pro, which makes debugging really hard since I can't see exceptions or trace actions.
I'm basically stuck and unable to debug. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi Arun,
You are sure the details that you have configured for the portal are correct?
The Developer Studio that you are using is the sap SP level as EP?
There is no proxy server between you and the portal? Check your Dev studio settings via Window>Preferences>Workbench Proxy settings.
