Flash CS6 Missing Frame/Background while in Symbol editting

Hi everyone,
So in class today I was working on CS6 Flash when I accidentally exitted editting mode when I was working on a symbol.
After going back to the editting mode, my frame disappeared and looks like this now.
When in fact, it should look like this instead.
Much help is appreciated!

Anyone run into this problem? The project is fine when I preview it, but when I export it (or send it directly to YouTube) it comes up with missing frames (black frames.) It just flashes to black intermittantly with the missing frames.
Very strange ... thanks for any and all help!

The same thing happens to me and have no idea why, the other videos ive made have come out good but since this one had more videos than pictures, it flashes a black screen but cant find no where how to fix that.

• Flash CS6 crashes while loading

Hi everyone,
I have problem with loading fresh installed Flash CS6.
Yesterday I reinstalled system (win7, 64bit), and start downloading and installing Adobe programs. Everything worked fine, Flash started, I made few banners, and gone to sleep.
Today, when I started computer, I got notification that there are some updates, also for Flash.
After installing that I can't start Flash. I'm clicking on icon, I see welcome screen, and while 'Initializing fonts' everything just dissapear. No error, no alert, nothing.
Any idea?
Thanks,

• App packaged with Flash CS6 windows installer can't be installed offline because of missing AIR RT

Hi all
I've build an Application in Flash CS6 and AIR SDK 3.5 for desktop and packaged it as a windows installer. When i try to install it on a windows 8 pro tablet with no internet connection (in my case an Acer Iconia w5) a window pops up, telling me that i need adobe air and i should download it at www.adobe.com/go/getair_de. I thought the AIR runtime is packaged inside the windows installer, so you don't need AIR preinstalled on your PC. I've added a screenshot of my setting:
Any help would be great

I think what you're looking for is the captive runtime.  For that you'll want to select "Application with runtime embedded".  This does however mean that you'll need to use your own "installer".  This could be as simple as zipping the folder up or just copying it over.

• Any ideas for reducing lag in my animation (flash cs6)?

I'm creating something for a local college in Flash CS6 and it lags in a couple spots (in the very beginning after clicking enter and after clicking on a location on the map) and it would obviously be really nice to get rid of that lag. The only thing i know to try in order to help with lag is to break down all grouped artwork and to convert tweens into frame by frame. I've done this and it hasn't changed anything so I was hoping someone else would have another idea. Ive uploaded the swf and flash file to dropbox. What is in the dropbox is not the final product I need to add the videos thats are going to be in it (they pop up once you press the play button) but other then the videos that is as complicated as the file is going to get. This lag started happening from the get go of working on this project once I had the barebones of the menu system figured out. It hasn't gotten any worse since then even after all the things I've added.

Unfortunately, I know of no completely satisfactory way to organize this information. In what follows, I discuss memory management first with sub-topics listed in alphabetical order. Then I discuss CPU/GPU management with sub-topics listed in alphabetical order.
That may seem logical but there are, at least, two problems with that organization.
I do not believe it is the most helpful way to organize this information.
Memory management affects CPU/GPU usage, so everything in the Memory Management section could also be listed in the CPU/GPU section.
Anyway, I am going to also list the information two other ways, from easiest to hardest to implement and from greatest to least benefit.
Both of those later listings are subjective and are dependent on developer experience and capabilities, as well as, the test situation and test environment. I very much doubt there would be a consensus on ordering of these lists.  Nevertheless, I think they still are worthwhile.
Easiest to Hardest to Implement
Do not use Filters.
Always use reverse for-loops and avoid do-loops and avoid while-loops.
Explicitly stop Timers to ready them for gc (garbage collection).
Use weak event listeners and remove listeners.
Strictly type variables whenever possible.
Explicitly disable mouse interactivity when mouse interactivity not needed.
Replace dispatchEvents with callback functions whenever possible.
Stop Sounds to enable Sounds and SoundChannels to be gc'd.
Use the most basic DisplayObject needed.
Always use cacheAsBitmap and cacheAsBitmapMatrix with air apps (i.e., mobile devices).
Reuse Objects whenever possible.
Event.ENTER_FRAME loops: Use different listeners and different listener functions applied to as few DisplayObjects as possible.
Pool Objects instead of creating and gc'ing Objects.
Use partial blitting.
Use stage blitting.
Use Stage3D.
Greatest to Least Benefit
Use stage blitting (if there is enough system memory).
Use Stage3D.
Use partial blitting.
Use cacheAsBitmap and cacheAsBitmapMatrix with mobile devices.
Explicitly disable mouse interactivity when mouse interactivity not needed.
Do not use Filters.

• Error message in Flash CS6

I'm getting an error in Flash CS6 when trying to add web address.:The following JavaScript error(s) occurred:  SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list. I've opened new job and clicked on Publish Settings and ticked 'Permit Debugging' as suggested elsewhere on a Adobe forum but no luck. Any answers would be great.

you opened a fla and created a button and opened the snippets panel without problem, correct.
then, in the actions panel while the button was selected, you click actions>click to go to web page, correct?
and that last click triggers the javascript error, correct?
if yes to all 3 you have a faulty flash pro installation.  uninstall flash and then reinstall.
if you did anything else, other than exactly what i listed, explain what you did.

• Where are the Flash CS6 features for animators?

It looks to me that Flash CS6 is quite a letdown to me. Almost none of what I wanted went through.
No 64-bit support (Seriously? Yeah, even 32-bit programs run better in 64-bit OS*, but native 64-bit support is still desirable), no Photoshop application frame (Why, Adobe? Why Photoshop and Illustrator and no one else?), and I don't see any new drawing features featured in the website. The only thing I (remotely) liked would be the maximum canvas sixe finally going up to 8192 pixels.
Just saying that this release is quite a letdown to me. It's basically CS5.5 with extra export options that I'm never going to need.
I'll see how much 3D support this version will have. Maybe that part will change my opinion.
* The idea of using a 32-bit OS in a modern multimedia workstation is a joke. You can't use more than about 3.5 GB of physical RAM across the entire OS. If you're using multiple 32-bit applications, 64-bit OS is more desirable. And I'm talking about Windows here; I don't know how Mac memory management works.

I would like to see all these features:
•Ability to sync MovieClips to the timeline (through some checkbox option)
•Authortime Pixel Bender filters (imported to Library and available in Filters Panel)
•ToonBoom's brush tool
•Independent X, Y, Z keyframes (behaving like every other property curve)
•Ability to parent one MovieClip to another (instance-based, author-time, like parenting in After Effects)
•3D depth sorting
•Abilty to toggle “Layer” blending independent of blending mode or filter
•Moar blend modes! (Including AND and XOR)
•Motion Tweens and Classic Tweens on the same layer
•Polystar Tool options inside Properties Panel
•Polystar Primitive (with Corner Radius, Inner Radius, etc.)
•Ability to change Graphic symbols’ Play/Loop/Frame settings mid-tween (maybe even keyframed in Motion Editor)
•Mutiple eases per property per tween span
•Easier quadratic curves in Motion Editor
•Ability to exceed 100% in the “Advanced” Color Effect (left column)
•Custom easing for Shape Tweens
•Ability to toggle between constraining proportions and constraining values themselves in the Transform Panel’s “scale” property (the latter was the behavior pre-CS4)
•Make selecting Tween Spans the same as selecting other frames by default (frame-based)
•Ability to import WMA and WMV files
•Access of Shape properties in ActionScript (an inverse to the Drawing API)
•Muting of individual sounds and/or layers with sound
•“Angle” setting for blur (to make it bi-directional)
•For loops in Pixel Bender
•Special blurs for different properties (rotation, skew, scale, etc.) to simulate motion blur
•Illustrator's symbolism tools (shifter, scruncher, sizer, spinner, stainer, and screener)
•Diffusion curves (Orzan et. al. 2008)
•MIDI support (including MIDI events in ActionScript)
•Embedded video (works like bitmap sequence)
•Distort transformation for symbols/vector-y 3D
•Weighted strokes

• How to import illustrator artwork to Flash CC, each shape as a separate symbols in Library

This feature was there at previous versions of Flash, but Flash CC simplified the import from Illustrator dialog window,
and I can't find a way how to do it...
I would like to import each shape from the illustrator file as a separate symbol in Flash's Library.
Thanks,
Koby

Hi Preran,
I've read the article, but it doesn't provide a way to do this in Flash CC.
It states that some functionality is present in Flash CS6 and earlier versions, and looks like it is not present in Flash CC.
Hi Amy,
Yes, I have the Creative Cloud (CC) version.
I saw that the CS6 version has the functionality I'm asking for.
Were you referring to the CC version as a "crippled"? Would you recommend using CS6 over the CC version of Flash?
Is it because of this "feature" or because of other features as well that are missing from the CC version?
It looks to me that the Mobile simulator works better in the newer CC version...
(simulates better touch screen wipes, long press, etc)
Question: If I start with CS6 version, then continue in CC version (like you wrote above), will I be able to return to the CS6 version (for importing more AI files) after I saved my project as a Flash CC version...?
Thanks,
Koby

• Flash CS6: Objects always go to back

I'm having an annoying problem in Abode Flash CS6. When I draw something with the brush tool, whether it's an object or a drawing, it automatically goes to the back of the stage, and no matter what layer it's on, or where on the stage I draw it, I can't bring it to the front with Ctrl+Shift+Up Arrow, unless I convert it to a symbol, but since I'm a frame by frame animator, I don't want to have to do this every time I want to solve this problem.
Okay, so now the problem seems to have gone away, but it does come back every so often. Is it just a setting I inadvertently turn on? Can someone explain to me what's going on?
Thanks in advance.
-Ben

Windows 7 64-Bit.
I held Ctrl+Alt+Shift and it deleted the preferences, but I could reset them from the Menu.
Maybe there are some parts in my animation where there are lots of shapes on one layer, but I work on multiple layers, and the problem seems to occur randomly, even when there's only around 5 shapes on the screen, and they're usually not all on the same layer. The .fla file is pretty large though - about 100mb.
Okay, it seems I can avoid this problem by clicking on the object I want the shape to be in front of when I draw it. I'll keep this in mind in case this is the solution.

• Flash CS6 continues to freeze on launch, even with Update or fontinfo.txt fix.

Flash CS6 freezes as soon as it gets to the work screen, whether I open it via a file or by the program itself.  This is after I updated Flash CS6 through the Update 2... twice!
I also emptied out fontinfo.txt, set it to read-only... and when that didn't work, I just deleted the file.  Nothing's changed.  The only way to get Flash to work a 2nd time is to restart my computer again.
What am I doing wrong?  I would appreciate any help.

Well, it's been a while since my last report, mostly because I haven't been using the program as much... however, today I needed to use it and well... it happened.  And it happened on a blank document too.  I made sure that all my other applications were closed at this time, and when I rebooted it, it continues to freeze.  Here is what I saw on the task manager.  Seems to be pretty similar to last time:
I use Flash to do Timeline animation and sometimes vector art.  The program has crashed before on a reset of preferences.  You also noted that there is a Flash.exe instead of a Flash 32.exe, I don't see it in the task manager at all... I only see the Flash 32 that I've been posting.
Perhaps I may be missing something, but the reasons for crashing that you listed do not seem to be the reasons why I am crashing and freezing.  While I can understand loading up a bloated file and having it crash the program, I have never seen this program until CS6 freeze once, and then from then on out, until I restart the computer, it will freeze time and time again.  It's bewildering as to why that is happening.
The Application doesn't seem to be sucking in a ton of memory.  The application will crash out-of-the-blue.  Sometimes when I simply click into the program on a blank doc (like this last crash), it will freeze up.  And if the program isn't even able to work with a blank doc, I don't think the content of ANY file is the problem.
I'm really at a loss.  I might have to downgrade back to CS3.  This is one of my most used programs, and if it's impossible to have it run smoothly without me having to restart my computer every few hours, I'm not really sure what to do.

• Fade in from black (pink flash in-between frames) in premiere pro cc

Hello,
when i fade in from black I get a transparent pink flash in between frames as the effect is happening.  The footage has a white background which makes the color very noticeable.
I have tried key framing opacity, and using a levels, and the same result occurs.
Any thoughts??  Thank you all
I'm using a 2008 mac tower with quad core and 32 gigs of ram.  Os X.8.5
Eric

CC 2014, source is 1080mts and the open CL was on.  I believe that was the issue, as well as other things the way the transparency and the blacks were interacting, after turning off mercury playback it fixed the black issues.  Havent been on the project in question for a while to check if that fixed the pink bars as well, though.

• In Adobe Flash CS6, I have a blue box appearing around lines drawn with the line tool (and other tools like brush etc). I can't figure out how to disable.

In Adobe Flash CS6, I have a blue box appearing around lines drawn with the line tool (and other tools like brush etc). Whenever I try to use a tool,  a blue box appears around the line and I have to double click it to manipulate it, which opens just that line in a semi burred screen where all the other objects are semi-grey in the background. I can manipulate this line in this screen but nothing else at that time which I could do about 5 minutes ago. For exampe, I no longer can join up 2 lines drawn by the line tool together. For some reason this started randomly (probably due to a accidental shortcut combination) and I just can't put it back to what it used to be. I have inserted a video hopefully showing what I mean. Any help would be appreciated.

• Importing problem w/ mini DV (missing frames)

Hi all,
I have two different sets of mini DV tapes (shot with 2 different cameras). They are both game footage for football. Each set provides a different angle (wide angle and tight angle views). I imported both onto iMovie however I had problems with the tight tapes.
The wide angle tapes import just fine but when I try the tight tapes they don't register in the "frame boxes" to the right of the monitor. To be clear, the video itself shows up in the monitor just fine but doesn't appear in real time within the frames...and eventually it does but when I play it back the video is missing frames and is very jumpy.
Because the wide tapes work I know I'm not doing some basic thing wrong- I'm curious as to why the tape from the tight DVs doesn't register. I know the two cameras were different so consequently the two mini DVs are different. Does this have anything to do with the settings of each? It's very odd...any thoughts?
-Greg

Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
Were the poor tapes shot at LP or Super-LP speed?
Could the heads in the poor (narrow) camera need cleaning? (Camcorders, especially Sonys, sometimes replace poor frames 'on-the-fly' while you're watching in the viewfinder, or on a monitor, but that doesn't happen when the poor recordings are exported via FireWire.)
What happens when you swap the tapes between the camcorders and then import? ..In other words, is it the tapes or the camcorders?
(NOTE: a Super Long Play tape swapped into another camcorder may not play back properly because of discrepancies in head alignment ..which may be causing the poor importing anyway - tape and heads shrink and expand in temperature extremes, so shooting a Super LP tape outdoors on a cold day and then replaying indoors in the warmth may produce poor tape/head alignment.)
Which cameras were they, and what happens when you swap the tapes between cameras?

• Flash Cs6 incredibly sluggish save time, & unable to save document as

I am using Flash CS6, animating on ones with the brush tool.  my timeline is 100 frames long, there arent keyframes on every frame, but there are a lot of them.  my .fla file is 79mb.
there is only one thing in my library - a 15 second .wav audio file...
Saving the .fla file takes about 2 1/2 minutes!
after the 2 1/2 minutes I get flashed the "cannot save document as...   please try saving with a different name or on a different volume".
contrary to the error message the file does in fact save perfectly fine - in that volume with that name.
what is the deal with the save time being so outrageously long? the program is equally sluggish with copying and pasting keyframes - though thats less of an issue than the save time.
please help me, i can send you the flash file if your willing to look at it.
ps: I tried opening the file in cs5.5 - the save time was slightly faster, but not by much.

Sujai, here’s what I found:
1.       The student’s project is 58 mbytes in size. This is mostly because she used the flame deco tool to create a frame-by-frame animation of a rocket.
2.       At school students have networked folders. The network is 1 gbit, and the server is in the same building.
3.       It took 3 minutes and 40 seconds to save her project. At the end of the Save operation, we got the error message that it didn’t save properly (And, if we have auto-save on, this happens every 10 minutes). . However, the file was properly saved, and could be opened.
So, it appears that Flash has problems saving files of this size, at least in our network. This surprises me, because 50 mbytes is not that big.
I was able to get around this problem by having the student change her flame animation to a movie clip, and Tween the flames. It doesn’t have quite as cool a look as the frame-by-frame, but it’s more efficient (and only 6mbytes in size).
Thoughts? JR

• Effects not automatically rendered in background while working on other things in v6.03?

Hi all,
I am relatively new to PP CS6, so pardon me if this has been asked before. I've searched thoroughly on the net - there are similar questions, but not identical ones.
i'm using a pretty powerful rig to edit my videos and here are the specs :
i5 2500k
16gb ram, allocated 14gb to PP, set to performance mode
gtx 560ti with 1gb vram, set to MPE mode from the hack
video source : iPhone, Galaxy Note 1080p, Canon 550D DSLR 720p videos

As seen in the image above, there's a small 'red' unrendered area in the sequence. I have added the warp stabilizer effect to a few of the clips, and most of them turned yellow after awhile, which means i can playback the seq smoothly without choppiness.
However, at times, I'm not sure why these effects, even AFTER being rendered, still shows as RED and would be extremely choppy when i play it. CPU usage rams up when i first add it and it does the processing. As of now, it is idling and does not finish rendering the RED areas. is it supposed to be normal?
I have to hit render entire work area for it to finish rendering all areas (which means I cannot do other stuff in the meantime!), and rendering takes EXTREMELY long. for instance, a 2 minute iphone clip takes around 40minutes to render ( minimal effects ).
i thought the MPE might be a problem, so i tried disabling it and ran on software. turns out it's even slower than usual.
any idea what i can do to make my CPU work full force in the background to render those RED areas while i'm editing other parts of the clip?
Thanks!

1st, go to the CS5 Benchmark http://ppbm5.com/ and view the results... an i5 computer is not "a pretty powerful rig" especially for DSLR video
