CS4 Default Classpath

Where do I find the default search path for .as class files
in Adobe Flash Creative Suite 4? I have a windows install, I think
it's beta, and I'm trying to make a class available by default
without having to drop it into each project's working directory. So
far the tutorials for CS3 and before have left me stumbling over
menu options and terminology that has changed between versions.
When I go under Edit -> Preferences -> ActionScript
-> ActionScript 3.0 Settings... , the obvious field, "Source
Path," is empty. The Flash IDE does not appear to set any
environment variables on install, so how do I find out where to put
this .as file so the class inside is available by default?

You can set as many class paths as you would like.

  • Default CLASSPATH?

I have been working with the J2EE tutorial and have had to set my classpath to point to the j2ee.jar file. No problems.
However, when I went back to run some old java programs, I got the "NoClassDef" error. On a hunch, I unset the CLASSPATH, and it was able to execute the java programs in the current working directory.
This leads me to believe there is a default classpath that will at the minimum search the CWD.
I plan to add "." to my classpath, but I was wondering if anyone can explain the rules of classpath (ie what should be in it and what it defaults to.) There may be other things I need to add to the CLASSPATH.

    Maybe this will help.

If your system does not specify a system Classpath, java defaults to . (CWD). Also, you can use the -classpath option of javac and java commands.

  • Flash default classPath / sourcePath

I'm developing a utility application that gives all kinds of tools for flash designers. Some of the features requires me to install AS2 and AS3 classes and some include files.
So the install processes needs to place actionscript files where flash IDE can find them.
Includes and AS2 classes are easily placed under the user folder and AS3 classes are a bit harder.. In CS3 the default sourcePath is under the Flash IDE install directory, however CS4 doesn't seem to have any default source path directory when installed.
The more 'elegant' solution is to save the classes to the utility application directory and edit the classPath / sourchPath, but I just can't find a way to do that
    So I have 2 questions:
    1. Is there a way to edit the classPath / sourchPath?
    2. Is there a default directory that CS4 is looking at when compiling an AS3 project?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Getting code into CS3/CS4 default include path

    Hello!
I have a series of AS3 classes that I want to install into the default directory that Flash looks for when, in code, one writes:
    import com.flashsim.FStEng.Three.*;
In AS2, there is the Classes/ directory within the Configuration folder.  Very easy, nice.  In AS3, that folder is not consulted, and I understand the Flash IDE does some kind of internal mapping.
I have created a SWC and added it to my Library path.  However, I would like to package the SWC in a (code-only) component and put it in a folder that Flash is, by default, looking at to consult swc's.  Alternatively, if there were an "include" directory, I could put the as files.  However, when I try to put the SWC in the Configuration folder's Libraries, or ActionScript 3.0/libs (the "libs" I had to create), or I put the as files in the Include folder, my Flash code cannot access the stuff being imported.
Is there any default place Flash looks for where I can put a SWC or code?
    Thanks!

I don't know what the deafults are as far as where Flash looks for things, though you may be able to get an idea of that if you set about creating your own paths for Flash to check.
You can create a folder for any classes you want to utilize and add the path to that folder into your classpath(s). Here's a for instance (though you can decide on your own structure). Let's say you want to create a folder called AS3Classes to store all of your class files. You decide you want to locate it in your FlashDesign folder. So the path to that folder would be (merely an example)...
    C:\Documents\FlashDesign\AS3Classes
To add this path to your classpath(s), In Flash, select Edit -> Preferences -> Actionscript (in the side list) -> AS 3.0 Settings (button)
Click the + sign in the classpath interface and enter that path as a new one. You're done there so click the OK's to make a clean getaway.
Next, in that AS3Classes folder you can add another folder named myClasses. which you can dedicate to classes you create (you can add other folders for other classes you acquire from others... you'll find the AS3Classes folder handy if/when you do).
So, for your package you only need to define...
    package myClasses {
The classpath will take care of the rest when things get searched for. Just place your class file in the myClasses folder and you're ready to use it...
    import myClasses.ClassName;

  • [Mac InD CS4] default save location?

I just upgraded from InDesign CS3 to CS4 on a Mac running OS 10.6. When I open an InDesign document and do a save, the dialog does not direct me to the location of the old file. Is there a way to set a preference so that "save" brings me back to the location of the old file?

Yes, I understand that. I would just like InDesign to default to saving in the same location.
So, would I. Tell Adobe: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&promoid=EWQQL

  • CS4 Default Image Editor

    Hello,
I am receiving a lot of emails with pictures attached. So I have set a program to view these files very fast (similar to Windows Fax/Image viewer). When I want to edit an Image within CS4 and click on "edit with external editor" the 'default' program above mentioned comes up instead of Photoshop. I know there"s a drop down menu and I can chose to open with Photoshop instead.
My simple question: can I tell CS4 that only Photoshop is the default image editor when I work within Indesign?
    Thanks
    Matt

Peter's right, but "image" covers a wide variety of different kinds of
files. I have .jpg set to open by default in the Windows Image viewer,
but .psd and .tif are set to open in Photoshop. I have .eps set to open
in a text editor, because I get eps files from all over the place, and
if I view it with a text editor I can usually figure out whether the eps
file came from Illustrator, or Photoshop, or some other source.
What I've never figured out about extensions is how to change the file
association for files that have no extension at all. I get a lot of Mac
files, many without extensions, and for some reason the default program
associated with extensionless files is Winamp.

Now here's a strange thing. I installed AI 14 on my laptop and set up a new
Document Profile exactly as I had done on the G5. On the G5 when I request a
new document it defaults to "Custom" albeit with the settings I had
specified. On the laptop it defaults to my named New Document Profile. So why
is the Profile name not displaying on the G5? Mystery. In a minute someone's
going to advise me to trash the preferences!

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Default Capture Format?

Okay, this is probably a really dumb question but how do you change the format premiere is capturing in? I have a canon HV20 that I'm trying to pull the video off of tapes and the default format is mpeg and I can't seem to figure out how to capture avi for the best quality to edit in. I can export the clip in anything I want but the capture seems to be locked into mpeg.
    Thank you, happy new year!

Ann's answer is correct, but only partial.
Premiere can't change the format of what's captured, as capture is just a transfer of what's on tape. In your case, MPEG is what's on tape, so that's what Premiere captures. And while you can have the camera do the conversion as Ann suggests, you will end up with standard definition media. If that's what you want, fine. But there's no way to end up with a high definition "easy-to-edit" AVI during capture from that camera. If you want HD material that's easy to edit, you'd have to pick up a Panasonic HVX-200A or an HPX-170. No other cameras in the sub-$10,000 range create easy to edit HD media. They all create the more difficult to edit MPEG type of files.

  • How to get default full screen mode in CS4

When opening a file from Bridge, it opens in Photoshop in Standard Screen Mode. How do I get it to default open in Full Screen Mode? CS3 does that, but the CS4 default to Standard Screen requires an annoying extra step for me for each image to change to Full Screen Mode. I've tried defining a new workspace while in Full Screen Mode, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

    >It's in the way of the desktop.
If you used exposé, there would be no problem.
    >Like now: I'm browsing a clip art library in Safari. Find the photo. Drag to DT. Drag to dock and open in PS. How would I accomplish that with an application frame?
To start with, you could drag the image straight into your dock icon to open, no need to access the desktop, but besides that...
If it works anything like in windows, when you switch to safari, with your browser window floating on top of photoshop, you simply drag the image out of safari anywhere on to the grey frame. It's even easier than having to go down to your dock to target the photoshop icon. If you're using safari full-screen, click and drag the image to an exposé hot corner set to applications, then simply drag it on top of the photoshop frame. (at least I hope the frame will make photoshop show up in exposé now. As it is in CS3, without an app frame, you can't access photoshop with exposé unless there's already a document open. With a frame enabled, I'm assuming that photoshop will now show up in exposé, with or without a document already open. I don't have CS4 to verify, so I'm making an assumption that it will work the same as it did in windows.)

  • Adobe After Effects CS4 Third Party Content only installed on one of two computers

    Hello,
I installed Adobe Creative Suite CS4 MC on two systems. One system lists "Adobe After Effects CS4 Third Party Content" in Add/Remove Programs. This left me a bit baffled as to what this content is and why it only installed on one machine (i.e., assuming I did not erroneously selected or deselected it during the default install). I thought it would be reasonable to install the missing content on the second machine but I cannot find an installer listing "Adobe After Effects CS4 Third Party Content" in the CS4 default or custom installer.
Could someone please tell me what this content is used for and how I can install it on the second machine?
    Thank you...

    > It should by no means be shown separately in the install database
That's not true for one case.
If you install After Effects in trial mode, the third party content won't be installed. But it leaves the third party content installer on your machine so that when you add a serial number the plug-ins can be added. This causes a new installer to run, so it will be registered (and need to be uninstalled) separately from the main installer.
Frederick- Verify that both machines have the third party plug-ins that Mylenium listed. If it's not on the second machine you probably have it in trial mode and need to serialize. (If not, try uninstalling and reinstalling After Effects from the Master Collection package.)

  • PS CS4 problems with OpenGL drawing enabled

I've just upgraded from PS CS3 to PS CS4 (default 32 and 64 versions) and I'm having problems with seeing image files above a certain size (even moderate size) with OpenGL Drawing enabled. Disabling OpenGL Drawing results in very slow image display (very easy to see the blocks being drawn one at a time), much slower than with PS CS3.
I'm running Vista 64 with latest updates. I'm trying to get PS CS4 32 running properly first, but PS CS4 64 seems to be having similar problems.
GeForce 9600 GT video card with latest driver 178.24 (updated yesterday and rebooted many times since then). That card is in Adobe's list of tested cards.
Main monitor (where I display Photoshop images) selected as primary in the driver dialog.
    I put palettes/panes on my 2nd monitor.
I use Ultramon for 2nd monitor taskbar functionality. Turning Ultramon off doesn't seem to help, although I may need to disable Ultramon from launching on reboot.
No plugins installed yet in PS CS4 (32), as per Adobe kb advice.
4GB of RAM with Memory Usage set within Photoshop's Ideal Range.
For testing, I've been opening a few different size (px and bytes) RGB image files in Photoshop by dragging them from an Explorer window into the Photoshop window, then clickin in the Photoshop window to make Photoshop active and show its palettes.
First with OpenGL Drawing enabled in Performance, default Advanced Settings.
    JPEG, 3600 x 2600 px, 4.5MB
    - opens and displays ok (short delay before palettes appear)
    - zooms and rotates smoothly
    TIFF, 2 layers, 800 x 600 px, 16 bits, 2.5MB
    - opens and displays ok (short delay before palettes appear)
    - zooms and rotates smoothly
    TIFF, 1 layer, 3600 x 2600 px, 16 bits, 54MB
    - doesn't open properly, shows checkerboard instead of image, with checkerboard in navigator and layer icon in layers pane
    - histogram is fine
    - zooming and rotation are not smooth (jumps to new position/size)
    - duplicate layer caused PS CS4 to stop working, with a close program dialog
    - open PS CS4 32 again, no OpenGL message today, and OpenGL Drawing is still enabled (although I got the OpenGL Drawing message more than once yesterday)
    TIFF, several layers, 3600 x 2600 px, 16 bits, 306 MB
    - doesn't open properly, shows checkerboard instead of main image
    - icons in layers pane look fine, same as navigator image
    - checkerboard zooms and rotates smoothly
    - duplicate layer is still checkerboard, back one history state stopped working / close program dialog
    - started PS again, opened 1 layer TIFF, closed and tried to open multi layer TIFF again, but stopped working / close program dialog again
I then tried the same images with OpenGL Drawing disabled in Performance.
    3600 x 2600 px JPEG
    - ok, but slow, blocky redraw
    2 layer 800 x 600 px TIFF
    - ok, but slight delay in redraw (smallest of all the files, both in px and bytes)
    1 layer 3600 x 2600 px TIFF
    - opened ok, but slow, blocky redraw
    multi layer 3600 x 2600 px TIFF
    - opened ok, but slow, blocky redraw
From what I've read in various Adobe kb notes, it sounds like there's some kind of conflict with my video driver, but I haven't been able to figure it out. I even tried the registry plugin from the Adobe kb to disallow OpenGL Windows, but that didn't seem to make any difference. It didn't even stop me being able to select and use OpenGL Drawing in PS CS4.
Any help would be much appreciated. I'm tearing my hair out here and I'm feeling a bit like I've blown my money on the upgrade so far.

I had another look at PS CS4 64 and those smaller (by file size) images that I can see with OpenGL Drawing on rotate and resize in a jumpy way, not smoothly like in PS CS4 32.
The multi layer TIFF that showed the images in at least the layers pane and navigator when using PS CS4 32 only shows the checkerboard in the layers pane and navigator in PS CS4 64.
Either way, neither version is anywhere near working properly.
Oh yeah, and I made a typo on the RAM. It's 6GB and not 4GB, not that I think that would make any difference.

The Canon 5D Mark II requires at least version 5.2 of the ACR plug-in.  See http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407111.html
The CS4 default installed ACR 5.0 so you have to upgrade the plug-in.
