Flash Doesn't Load on Safari

I am running Safari 4 on Snow Leopard and instead of loading flash, every time there is a site with flash all I see is a gray box that says flash which usually loads when I click on it. Flash displays correctly on all the other browsers on my computer and I have recently redownloaded Safari from the install disk. How do I get it to display correctly?

HI,
Since you have installed Safari from the SL disk, go to the Apple Menu / Software Update... make sure your system software is up to date.
Now uninstall and reinstall a new copy of the Flash player plugin.

When you are finished uninstalling the old Flash plugin, go here and install a fresh copy
of Flash Player plugin.

As with any software installations, repair disk permissions.

Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
And try Safari maintenance.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Also... always a good idea to keep an eye on available disk space.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

  • I have latest version of flash but flash doesn't work in safari!

Why do I have latest version of flash but flash doesn't work in safari!I have flash for mac.Your help will be appreciated.

If you're talking about using Flash on your iPod, you can't. There is no version of Flash that will work on any iOS device. If you're talking about using Flash on your computer, you may want to repost in the correct forum.

  • Flash Doesn't Work in Safari - Need Info On QuickTime MIME settings I think

    Hey Friends,
I just upgraded to Leopard, LOVE IT but some of my favorite sites now come up with a ghosted QuickTime logo and question mark. I've had this issue before with FireFox and I never figured out how to configure my preferences to correct this.
I think it has to do with my QuickTime preferences and MIME settings. Possibly my Safari preferences. Can someone advise the correct configuration? I would really appreciate the assistance. No YouTube+ No WatchTVSitcoms.com+No CNN.com=NO FUN
    Safari'd Out in San Francisco

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them).
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

I have osx 10.9.1 and safari 7.0 and i have downloaded and 'successfully' installed flash multiple times over the last few weeks. it still does not work on safari and every site gives me the message 'flash out of date'. the same sites work on firefox though. i need it to work on safari too.

  • Flash doesn't load properly on a particular website

    http://garth-marenghi.mybrute.com/
I had previously been using the website without any problems, but when I browsed it yesterday, parts of the website that use the Flash plugin wouldn't load in Firefox. It just appears blank. I've attached a few screen shots to show you what I mean. Also, right-clicking on the Flash area brings up a box  with "Movie not loaded" in greyed out letters.
I haven't installed any new software on my computer, no flash blocking software or anything like that, and the version of Firefox is the same one I've been using for a while now (final version of Firefox 2.0). I haven't experienced any problems with it prior to this. Every other website I've browsed has worked fine (Flash loads normally), except for My Brute. The site works in Internet Explorer without any problems, only Firefox is affected.

Ok, it just started working again. Still no idea why it stopped working in the first place. I spoke with other people who reported no problems viewing the site, so I'm sure it was a problem at my end and not a site-wide problem. I haven't changed any settings here either though...
Anyway, I'll leave this topic as it is and give it a day or so, just in case the problem returns.

  • Pages that load in all other browsers do not load in Safari

Our Web application uses HTTPS and a Thawte-issued 256-bit AES SSL certificate. In IE, Firefox, and Chrome, the pages of our Web application load absolutely fine. In Safari 4.0.5, the pages do not load in the browser. When looking at the source for the page, there absolutely is content there, but appears to be cut off after a certain number of lines. I've tried a couple of pages, and there doesn't seem to be anything incorrect about the HTML at the line directly after the last one that Safari was able to pull back.
I read in some forums that this may have to do with content chunking and/or variable content lengths. I read in others that it may have to do with serving images from non-HTTPS servers while using an HTTPS connection. I think the former sounds more likely.
Has anyone encountered this issue before? This is not the known "page doesn't load in Safari, but then does when I access it in another browser" issue. It doesn't matter how many times I successfully access the pages in other browsers. They are never rendered in Safari.
Does anyone know how to control the behavior of Safari (or even of Apache HTTP Server 2.0) when it comes to responses of variable content lengths and/or response chunking? Or am I completely off the mark?
    Thanks,
    Mike

It turns out that Apache's mod_jk.log, which is used to store the output of communications between Apache and Tomcat, had become full. Once it reaches 2 GB, Apache can't write to it anymore. Once we stopped Apache, stopped Tomcat, rotated out that mod_jk.log, and restarted both Apache and Tomcat, our Web application started working again in both Safari and much more reliably in Chrome.

  • Firefox crashes as soon as Flash video tries to load and Safari shows the error "Plug-in Failure"

I am unable to use Youtube or view Flash video on any sites.
Firefox crashes/quits as soon as a video tries to load and Safari shows the error "Plug-in Failure".
I have uninstalled Flash, downloaded a fresh version and installed, but no joy.
    I am using OS X 10.6.6.
    This is what I have tried so far;
    1. Repaired Permissions.
    2. Restarted with external drive and run Disk repair.
    3. Restarted with external drive and run DiskWarrior.
    4. Completely uninstalled Flash plugin. Robooted. Reinstalled Flash plugin. Rebooted.
    5. I even installed an earlier version of the plugin to see if there was some incompatibility with the latest version.
    6. Created a new user login and tried from there. Same problem.
    Any ideas?

You have what is necessary for Flash Player to be working. Firefox had some issues last year but it was after loading a video or the website. I had not heard of it lately and even last year don't recall it happening on the Macs.
What is happening with yours sounds like a direct conflict with some addon/extension.
Here is the link from Firefox describing what happened last year. You might want to see if there is anything more current.

I'll get the Mac troubleshooting guide in a minute and post it also.
Any adblock or popup blocker software would cause this also.

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Safari/History.plist
Click Go then move the History.plist file to the Trash.
Now type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Safari doesn't load redirect page

    Hi everybody,
I have an activation mail for subscribers.
It contains a link like :
    http://oneSite/do/something?param=yeah&url=https%3a%2f%2fanotherSite/do/somethin g/else%3fparam1=tata%26param2=titi&trolollo=true
On ipad using safari (and only there) clicking it does the redirection (I can see the correct url on the new tab) but doesn't load the page. It stays blank.
It also appens on ipad simulator.
However using "open in a new tab" or pasting it in url bar works well they're not really userfriendly behaviors.
Has anyone an idea about a workaround  ?

  • Safari doesn't load pages containing html5 canvas on iMac

Suddenly Safari either is very slow to load or doesn't load some pages at all.
I have tracked it down to be pages containing html5 canvas element.
This happens only on iMac and Macbook Air. It doesn't happen on iPad nor on Safari on a Pc. It will happen on the Mac computer both when the pages are out on the internet and when the pages ar locally stored. It's driving me absolutely mad!
I've tried emptying cache both through Safari menu and by removing Safari's Cache.db, I've reset Safari preferences, restarted, and changed DNS to Open DNS (though it seems strange it should be an issue since the problem also occurs when I run the site on localhost).
If I open the page directly entering the url in the adressbar it works fine, it is when I try to access it from a link on another page on the site it doesn't load. If I press reload it will load fine. The link from other pages can be either an html <a href="url"> tag or javascript window.location or window.location.href neither works. The weird thing is it worked fine until just yesterday. And it works fine on every other machine except the Macintoshes. WHY

    Hi Carolyn,
Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried everything you wrote now, however the problem remains.
One thing I've noted though is that the page actually loads but it takes very very long time, and sometimes when the pages have been loaded the images doesn't look quite right until I hit the reload button.
I've been thinking about another thing, there are a lot of effects like round corner, shape and text shadow, can it be these that cause the problem? I still think it is very strange though that it all of a sudden stopped working and that running it on PC or iPad everything is just fine.
Another thing to add is that the computer is very new just got it like 2-3 weeks ago, and haven't hardly added anything except got Xcode, macVim, firefox and Filezilla.
Also just before the problem appeared I ran a page with javascript that had me caught in an endless loop of alerts. Got that fixed, but ever since that some pages won't load correclty...
Is there possibly anything else I can do to fix this?

  • HT5271 Adobe flash 11.2 install but Safari 5.1.7 not loading pages

I'm very frustrated after spending an hour looking into why, once installing updates, Sarfari no longer loads pages.  I have the most current version of Adobe Flash, so that should not be an issue.

    Hi..
Make sure there is not an earlier version of Flash on the drive. Safari 5.1.7 disables prior versions, but make sure and try uninstalling then reinstalling new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Quit then relaunch Safari. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Then try a Flash based video.

  • Safari doesn't load monitor profiles

I'm using my mac book pro's internal display with an external display connected through mini display port. I calibrated both of them, but safari 4.0 doesn't load the profiles while firefox does. I looked through safari preferences but I found nothing about color management or monitor profiles.
    Any comments would be apprecieated.

Just tested on mine and it's working.

  • Safari 6 intermittently not loading images or doesn't load pages.

Not sure if anyone else is having any issues like this. Safari doesn't load pages at all or pictures just do not load at all. It seems like if I restart my browser and try to go to the page again I can get pages to load but not always. Its not the Internet speed or the speed of my computer. I'm thinking it might be an issue with the Virus Scanner that I'm using??? Avast. Any Ideas????

I had the same problem until today and I hope this helps.  I'm always emptying the caches and probably in a hurry I did not noticed that instead of emptying the caches I went a little bit farther and hit the disable images button.  So, go to Develop Menu and make sure that disable images is uncheked.
