Not sure about customising it, again as i havent used it. So
not sure if this could be of use to you.

  • A good Flash E Commerce solution for AS2 and 3.0

I have a client who will want an e commerce area for his site. Does anyone recommend a  good Flash based program out there that will allow you to constuct an e commerce solution in both AS 2  or  3 . I know that is a lot to ask for but at this point I really need something that will not break my budget, I can use easily multiple times with different looks .

the only difficult part is the back-end securing transactions.  you can off-load that responsibility to a third party like paypal and make your own custom shopping site.

  • Flash & E-commerce software

I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on the best
software to use to add e-commerce to a flash website.
And, how easy is adding e-commerce to a flash website?

  • Explain Flash E-commerce

I've been tackling flash for years but this is the first time
I've had to incorporate a credit card payment into a site.
I would like to have a link that opens up a secure page that
is all flash and that collects the credit card info and then sends
it for approval. How does all this work? Is the card number and
amount just sent as a string to a specific site for approval?
What's an SSL certificate? Do I need e-commerce hosting? A merchant
account? A step by step of how this all works would be great!
    Thanks everyone...

yeah me too. i need the exact same thing. PLEASE HELP

  • Hello, I have 2 questions.....

I tried to download "Flash Remoting MX Components" from this site,
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashremoting/downloads/components/
but there was an error when I tried to install it. I have Flash CS3 and a Mac OSX and was trying to download it to complete a tutorial on creating an online store from this site.....
    http://www.flash-db.com/Tutorials/store/ShoppingTutorial.php?page=1,
anyway, my first question is has anyone else had this problem, and what can I do about it. The second question is, I was looking at a site that was the best of Flash e-commerce sites...
    http://pelfusion.com/showcases/25-beautiful-and-creative-flash-e-commerce-sites/
and was wondering if how they made them, are they all Actionscript, or a combination of that and a server side language like php, or do they use flash remoting or what. Anyway, if anyone has the answers to either question that would be great. Thanks WEich1213

If you look at this forum post I believe they address getting the components to work in CS3
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/153457?tstart=0
Remoting requires that you have a back server technology to talk to. What remoting does is give you the ability to call functions that are on your webserver technology natively in flash.
for example you have a .NET deployed DLL in a webapplication that has a function called getUsers(string username, string password)
You could create a remoting object to your server gateway and call that function directly
    RemotingService.getUsers(myname, mypassword);
Then you could create an authentication movie for your site that is flash based and can talk to your database.

  • Want to use Flash on company site - need numbers!

    Hi guys,
I work as a graphic designer for a pretty major e-commerce
site. We're working on a redesign of our homepage. Myself, I want
to incorporate flash. Nothing major but possibly using it in a
ticker across the top of the page and maybe one day doing flash
based splash pages to other areas of the site.
I like flash and have used it on other sites before. However,
I'm running into a roadblock. My superiors are very hesitant to
(finally) take the leap into flash design, as they believe not
enough internet shoppers have flash installed on their machines.
I sent an e-mail with links to the census page on adobe.com
that states that flash is installed on 97% of internet enabled
computers. They don't believe it. In fact, one of my superiors
believes that number to be only 9%. I've tried to do some of my own
research but I'm having a hard time building a case. I desperately
need independent research that illustrates what I'm sure we all
know already: not only is the flash plug-in installed on the
overwhelming majority of internet enabled computers, but that users
who are savvy enough to shop online are exactly the type that would
have flash installed in the first place.
This is a shot in the dark but I'm hoping that someone out
there may have come across an article that may help my case.
    Thanks much; I'm desperate!

The numbers on Adobe's stats page don't always refer to the
    *latest*
version of Flash Player -- that's an important note -- but
    certainly, the
    numbers are good:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/player_census/flashplayer/version_penetration.html
Here's the methodology used to derive those numbers:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/player_census/methodology/
Are the naysayers on your end willing to cite a reference or
    two? ;)
    > In fact, one of my superiors believes that number to be
    only 9%.
Ummm. Where is that number coming from? Has this person not
    visited
Amazon.com? They use Flash content. That's a pretty major
    e-commerice
site. His this person not heard of MySpace (et. al.), YouTube
    (et. al.),
and the like, all of which support (and sport) Flash content?
    How about
cnn.com? Check out any of the major TV outlets, abc.com,
    fox.com, cbs.com,
etc. I'm preaching to the choir, though ... I realize that.

    research that

This might prove difficult, because it sounds (to me) like
    you're up
against an emotional reaction more than anything else. If no
    one jumps in
with the article(s) you're looking for, how about turning the
    argument on
its ear? You mentioned that the Flash content you're after is
    "nothing
major" -- more eye candy than anything else -- and if that's
    so, why not use
something like Geoff Stearns' SWFObject to detect Flash
    Player and serve up
    an alternative if necessary?

  • Need help determing hours needed to complete flash website

Hello everybody. I am fairly new to Flash, and I have chosen to use it for my final project to graduate with a CS degree. I did some basic animation type stuff around 5 years ago in school but nothing major. I want to make a website for a non-profit organization for my project. I know what I want to do, but I need to give my advisor an estimate of how many hours it will need to complete it. I have no idea how to even start to figure this out so I hope someone can help me out.
Here is a general outline of tasks I want on the website:
    Message board
    Blog
    Embedded video
    Photo gallery
    Archived news
    E-commerce store
    Guestbook
    Counter
    Polls
Applications - games, instant messenger type thing (if I have time)
I would really appreciate it if someone can break these tasks down and suggest how long each would take or everything together. Thanks in advance.

This may be one posting that doesn't get any replies, so I figured I'd offer this just in case rather than let it sit unattended for a week or so.  If you are only familiar with Flash at a basic level, for all the things you list you are likely going to have to spend the entire semester (or two) dedicated to this, day and night. I am not exaggerating.
I have over 8 years of experience with Flash and recently spent that kind of time, two months solid, creating a web site, implementing things that I have never implemented in Flash before, things such as you list (though not as many), things that require learning more than just Flash to get thru... server-side scripting, database interaction, dynamic content generation, etc.  If you have experience with these aspects, then you'll be a step ahead in that regard, but you'll still spend a good amount of time to get them to interact with Flash.
In my case, the design work was primarily based on my own ideas and design approaches, though I did have to do some Googling to get over some humps.  You may be able to 'borrow' from other people's designs to help reduce the workload.
You may get lucky and get input from someone who does this type of stuff regularly and can provide you their estimate for each item, but it is not likely to be applicable to you.
I know this isn't what you are looking for, but it is probably a realistic assessment.

  • Unwanted line in DW when adding a Flash item...Help!

  • Dreamweaver CS5 E-Commerce Book/Resources

    Hi,
I have recently completed my Adobe Dreamweaver and Flash CS5 certificate but the course only covers the basics for an information based website. I would like to learn about databases i.e for logins etc where people can add their details to the database and it allows them to login. Also i would like to learn about online payments and adding a basket etc to my site to process products etc.
I need a book/resource which i can use to learn how to make an e-commerce site, but have looked and cannot find a book for what i need.
Can anybody recommend any books that are sold in the United Kingdom that i can use for learn how to do this in CS5 and that still follows the latest web standards i.e CSS etc.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Many Thanks

As for your other question of "can" this be done (Credit Card Processing from EJB). I would never say anything can not be done. Explain your problem with more detail and I'm sure someone in this forum can lead you in the right direction.
If reading that book does not help you figure out how to use ANT, then I would suggest taking a course from your local Java experts.

  • Flash player/swf flv files behind members area not showing up

    Hi-
I am having problems with my swf and flv files. I have tried both going through adobe and JW players. My specific problem is this: I am posting to a non-mobile me server and these flash files are going behind a ccbill members area that you can only get to by signing in as a member through a paying website using ccbill. I saw Bob's post on the 11th and tried deleting the extra / I saw in my html files as well.. but that did not work. The pages come up without the flv or swv files. Have tried both. Shows up fine in iweb but when published it's not there. No error messages. Not even a blank box. It's just not there.
Any advice? Been to Old Toad, Roddy McKay, iwebunlimited (Jason) and iwebfaq (Cédric), apple forums iweb sites. Cannot find anything specific to members area so any advice would be very helpful!

The above is there to protect Apple in case of the server goes down or otherwise interrupts access to the sites and you lose income because of it.
MobileMe is not the best server to use for a commercial site. It's very slow and erratic in its performance. A commercial server, full service login type of password protection, i.e. each user has their own password and user name instead of one for everyone, etc., would be much more efficient and faster loading. Just some food for thought.
Besides, what type of card deck has 5 aces?

  • Flash SSL connection failure IE

I am working on a very innovative e-commerce site with an all
Flash interface. We have uncovered an unusual situation where Flash
works in Firefox but not IE when calling webservices over https. It
only occurs when the certificate doesn't match the site name. It
appears that after a period of time the IE browser is unable to
open an ssl connection to the target site. This happens even though
the user has accepted the mismatch. Works fine in FireFox.
    Anyone else seen this?

RE: the talkingtree.com article, I think you're confusing
    client certificates and
server certificates. The talking tree article is discussing
an SSLv3 issue with client certs. Server certs are a seperate
    animal altogether.
There should be no issue with updating (renewing?) the SSL
certificate on "webA". Just make sure that the SSL cert being used
by "webA" now, has a "common name" that matches the domain name
you're using to address it with.
(I'm guessing you're simply using "webA" as the domain name,
    since it's all internal correct?)
One other thing to consider, what is the "Issuer" is on the
new SSL cert? If the new cert was not issued by a globally trusted
third party (like VeriSign/PayPal, or Thawte), than you may need to
register the cert in JRun's "cacerts" file. You can read more about
    that here:

  • Target another frame in a framset from flash navigation

Target another frame in a frameset with for example
    getUrl (example.html, "rightFrame");
    has Adobe released some solution?
    - Right now we migrate from Flash towards PowerPoint and CSS,
    because
the lack of answers and interactivity in Flash because of
Microsofts "security pathes" in IE 6 and 7
Right now I cant find a simple solution of how to target
    another
frame from a frame in the same html-doc from a button in a
    flash navigation.
Am I right or wrong? It looks like everyone avoid this simple
    question?
    - Why?
And I still appreciate every possible answer that could solve my
problem and a lot of problem to other
    interactive producer.

Cant target another frame in the same frameset (2 frames -
LeftFrame and RightFrame ) in the same html.doc
This is the code I have applied to the Flash button
in a frame called navigation in LeftFrame:
    on(release){
    getURL("right.htm", rightFrame);
For some reason I can't get the page to open in the target
    frame (RightFrame).
It will only pop up in a new window. (_blank)
Microsoft has done a some security restriction since februari
    2006.
The problem is that you cant use flash navigation in the same
    frameset no longer.
I´ve serched everywhere and it looks like there is no
    simple solution to this problem.
Adobe suggest that you Work around with Javascript.
But what´s happend if the user disable JavaScript in the
    WebBrowser?
Isn´t that obvious - it´s a strategic issue for the
    Interactive webbindustry.
    It´s a crossroad - which way webdesigners/developers,
    markering managers
e-commerce managers.., want to choose to work along with
    databases, content
    management system and so on.
If Flash not can provide an easy way of targeting another
    frame in a webbrowser for
its customers, the customers have to choose a another
solution - CSS+php or even worse
    - PowerPoint.
I already migrate to CSS, PHP and PowerPoint because of
Adobes late response of Microsoft so called
    "..because of security reason".
At least I hope Adobe is interested of producing a motion
tutorial of how to solve the problems by
Javascript or whatever complex and not user friendly
    solution
    they come up with.
    Do you understand now?
If you can provide a simple code below - please tell me -
    I really appreciate that!!!!!
Code on flash button in LeftFrame:
OnPress (I appreciate some bright solution here or som e link
to how I solve the problem.)

  • Flash or Dreamweaver?

    Hi all,
I'm working on multiple sites for my media company while my
webmaster is taking a break. My main site was hand coded and
accesses my servers using PHP/MySQL. Question is . . . since my
company's product is media - ringtones, video, wallpapers, etc.
should I consider using Flash rather than php docs. I have very
little experience with Flash. But since I'm starting out on a
number of sites, I thought if I'm going to change it would be good
to do so now. All sites are totally e-commerce with shopping carts,
tours, samples, etc. I'm looking for fast, clean, simple but
elegant interfaces and as little grief and glitches as possible.
    Thanks in advance.

    Both
Flash whilst cool has a few issues with SEO etc... so for
    maximum
accessibility (including google) try a combo of both! Flash
    will be able to
give you the multimedia aspect that would appeal to your
    audience!

  • E-comm in Flash?

I need to integrate e-commerce into an existing Flash site.
I've been searching for days trying to find books, tutorials,
anything that can hep me and haven't found anything except
companies trying to sell me their already built Flash carts. Can
someone please guide me in the right direction? I want to do learn
this myself, not have someone else do it for me.

Wow, i'm a retard! I've been searching with "E-commerce in
Flash" and other variations of that. Now there's all kinds of new
results for me to weed through. Thanks for showing me the light
    dzedward!!

  • Flash vs flex for android development

I've seen some videos using Flash and others using catalyst/Builder. I'm not sure which to start learning, I'm very interested though. I'm comfortable with flash (and have new 5.5 creative) but feel like builder/catalyst will eventually be more powerful.
what are the advantages and disadvantages of them (is there somewhere I can read up on this if it's too long of an answer?)
are there any good websites or books that really dig into the actual code from beginner to advanced? I don't even know where to look, the documentation is just very overwhelming. how would you advise even beginning? I don't want to get into bad habbits. i.e. learn in Flash then find out that I am limited by the program, or learn bad coding practices.

I suggest checking out the Flash Platform page on Adobe.com for additional information.  Flash Professional, Flash Builder, and Flash Catalyst are targeted towards individual workflows for building rich Internet applications.  If you want to build data-driven or e-commerce applications and leverage the Flex framework, I suggest checking out Flash Builder.
