My flash movie runs fine in ie, ff, gc but not pda's / smart phones

Not a fix. But inserting the same backgorund image used in flash project to the cell properties at least gives me a still image of
the info.

Fullscreen Flash movie not showing up on Mac

My flash movie is set to 100% width and height and it is
working fine on my PC on IE 6,7, FF 2, Safari 3, and Opera, but on
my Mac, the movie will not show up unless I change the 100% values
to actual height and width values. Does anyone have any thoughts

Flash movie not displayed correctly in IE 8 on some Windows OS

Has anyone seen this problem?
I'm using CS4 to export a basic flash movie with embed tags pre scripted...
And the issue is that on some OS systems using Vista or Windows 7 and IE 8 as a primary browser, it appears that IE 8 is not displaying the flash banner completely.... its CROPPING it off... This is very strange because the banner works fine in FireFox, IE7,Opera,Chrome but not I.E.8 on some OS systems...
If you google "Flash not displaying correctly in IE 8" you'll get alot of people with the same issues but no real definate fix...
Are there any suggestions as to what i could try?
Do i need different flash embed tags? Or is this a user issue?

I'm sorry, i forgot to explain that I didn't upload the flash published html because it did and produced the exact same results.
The flash published still got cropped off on 1 vista os(I.E 8) running from a laptop and 1 windows 7(I.E. 8) latop os...
Its good to hear that you're able to see it clearly... however in my QA efforts, i've been asked to fix the issue or drop the flash banner all together.
I've tried every which way, i've even converted the embed tags (not uploaded by the way) to a js script and it STILL gets cropped of on 2 ie8 run OS systems...
And now i'm not sure what else to try on my end.
I'm currious if because this is an XML driven flash banner, this may be an issue? But it still doesn't explain why some people can see this in IE 8 as you can and others get a cropped banner like in my screen shot sample.
Again i invite everyone in the forum to take a look at the sample links, as i'd be curious to see who else is seeing this.
By the way "kglad" Thank you so much... please keep the suggestions coming... but everything you've suggested, i've tried.
This is very perplexing. Is this a setting issue? or is there some setting on the user side i'm not aware of? Either way, as usual... the flash developer is blamed so i must find a solution.

Flash movie not play on FireFox

I built couple flash movies ( using flash 8) on the website : http://www.hoaxinh.com
For some reason, they do not automatically play in new Firefox. The movie only play when use click on "play" button.
Should I have to convert these movie using higher verson of flash? could you please help?

Hi, ive made a flash site in Flash CS4 .The flash movie doesnt load either on my computer or on web server, but only in IE 8 ??, in all other browsers(FF,Safari,opera) it works????

If you try any in IE8, they stop half way and do not give a smooth stream. I am wondering if I have to stream differently and not via the progressive download stream as I have??!

IE7 & Flash Movie not displaying FF works fine

Hi,
I have an issue with IE7 and my Flash video movies. When I
use IE7 (7.0.5730.13) the 6 videos (flash movies) on the page do
not display all 6 BUT in FF they all display and my navigation menu
works fine. The video boxes/placeholders change when I refresh the
page in IE7, but again, not all 6 show like in FF and the menus
won't work properly.
Any help! Please use common/dummy talk so I can fix it. The

The movies are MASSIVE. I Think you are just not waiting long
enough. It
took >15 minutes for FF to show all of the video frames.

Flash movie not showing in IE

On the home page of one of my sites, I have included a small
Flash movie which displays (almost0 perfectly in Firefox, but just
appears as a small white box in IE (it's over on the right side of
the page). Any ideas?
Also, the motion of the movie is a bit "jerky" and not as
smooth as expected. Is this a known problem?

The smoothness of a flash movie is dependent on the number of
frames per minute you have set. Generally, more frames per minute =
smoother movement.

Flash movie not showing up in IE8

Hi,
I have a flash movie on a login page that shows up fine in every browser apart from IE8 (surprise surprise!), where I just see a red cross in a square. You can see what I mean if you look at the page in IE:

The movie was created in Flash 10 with ActionScript 3. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why it is isn't working in IE?

OK, here's the problem. From the time the .swf file starts to download until it is completely downloaded is the flicker time.
So the browser draws the container, puts the little x inside until the entire .swf is downloaded.
I verified that by deleting my Temp Internet files cache and while opening the page, monitored the download via ZoneAlarm firewall indicator lights. The empty container is displayed when the download starts, and the .swf is not displayed until the download is complete.
So to resolve... incorporate a preloader into the .swf or use swfobject.js and provide an alternate image that gets downloaded/displayed first while the .swf is downloaded.

Flash movie not working in FF V2.0.0.16

Hello all,
I am building a site that uses various flash elements and
also displays a flash movie. My issue is in IE the page and
everything loads fine. However in FF (I have v2.0.0.16) the flash
logo and movie thumbnails display but not one of the auto play
movie on the page. Instead the movie section is just blank. Yet
when I right click on where it would be it gives me the flash menu
settings (zoom in, quality, etc).
Also all other flash elements on the page load/display fine
and also the site works fine in IE??

Flash movie not playing in Catalyst

I'm a novice to FC, but have some website design experience.
With that said, I'm having a hard time figuring my problem out. I created a interactive tour for the non-profit organization that I work for, everything works perfectly when I preview it in catalyst. However, when I publish it to dreamweaver and import it two things happen when I preview it in a browser. 1. the sound that I have during a mouse over doesn't work. 2. All of my five panels have short 2-3 min. flash movies that will not play.
If I play the swf in dreamweaver everything works, it's just when I preview it in a browser that it fails. I have tried both the "insert swf" option and the html code. In the html code the sound happens during a mouse over but the videos still won't play. I have tried to look through the flash code but can't find the link to my media. Please, Please help.
One more note: I have tried to save the movie in both FLV and FL4 format with no luck either way.

Due to Flash Player security restrictions, you usually can't use the same SWF file both for previewing locally and for uploading to a website. Basically, the rule of thumb is:
If you're looking at a file:// URL, you need to use the run-local folder's contents
If you're looking at an http:// URL, you need to use the deploy-to-web folder's contents
So, when working locally in Dreamweaver you'll want to use run-local, but then substitute deploy-to-web when you're ready to upload your site to a webserver. If you want to make sure your substitution worked, you can always upload to a temp "staging" folder on your server and then test it in your browser before going fully live with the content.

Error Msg: Flash Movie not Loaded

Hi,
For some reason my flash movie will not load. I right click
it and I see the following
"Movie not loaded" it is greyed out. I can run this same .swf
file from my local hard drive, but when I try to view it from

it does not work. I am using Windows XP Home edition which uses IIS
5.1
The HTML page I am running and the .swf file are in the same
directory so its not a path issue.

Hi,
Its quite strange, after further testing, the code works just
fine at my hosting company, but when I run it locally, the flash
movie does not load.
I am running XP Home with IIS 5.1 I believe. I am not sure
why this is happening.

FLASH MOVIE NOT SHOWING

I have a Flash movie on a Dreamweaver page. I'm assuming it's
the only way to publish a FLASH site. I'm not a coder by any means
and am having diffuculty with this. The page loads without the
movie.

Please post a link to your page as it may be that what you
think are the correct locations amy not be. One quick note, it
appears that there is a title tag and a style tag in the middle of
the code. Did you perhaps add your flash to into the head tag of
your document rather than within the body tag?

AW/Flash Movie not playing with Skin

We inserted flash movie files (developed in Captivate-saved
as flash 6 with a skin) using the insert flash movie menu option in
AW7.02. We inserted the skin and it also pulls the captivate movie.
We published using 1 button publishing. Our self-executables work
fine. However on the web the skin appears but the movie does not
play. If we imsert the movie alone, it plays but doesn't have the
play/pause/stop/slide bar controls that the skin provides. Any
suggestions?

I had a similar problem a few months ago. I asked one of the
Captivate
engineers. Here's his response.

Open the skin Editor (Project -> Skin...) From the
'Borders' Tab, Deselect
'Show Borders'.
Doing the above two steps will result in only one output file
which will
include the playbar. However, it will overlap some part of
the content.
To use old (Captivate 1 style) playback controls, do the
following:
Open the Skin Editor and from the 'Skin' Drop down combo box,
select 'BMP
Playbars'.
If you wish that your playback control should not overlap the
content and
still output is one file, then do the following.
Turn off the borders (as explained above).
From Project menu, open 'Resize Project'
In the 'Resize project' dialog, Increase only the height by
20 pixels.
In the group below (left hand side, 'if new size is lager'),
select 'Keep
project the same size and fill bg with color' and selct a
color.
Select the position of project as top center.
Do not rescale any objects
In the above way, your output will only be one file and still
will include
the playback controls and the playback controls will not
overlap the
content.

Dailymotion embedded flash movie not working anymore

I cannot seem to get Dailymotion embedded flash movies working. The movie is just a black screen. The same embedded movie on the same webpage works in windows. (Non-embedded) movies on the official Dailymotion site still works though.
This happened only recently. I thought maybe it was a flash 10 issue, but after rolling back to flashplugin 9, the problem still remains.
Does anyone has the same problem?

Usually when a browser has an issue playing a Flash file it is due to the embedding code that is used in the html page. Can you compare your code to another page's code to see what differences there are? You should let Flash generate the embedding code rather than using some other software to do it if that is what you did. Just have Flash publkish and html page, test that page in your various browsers, and if it works, copy/paste that code in place of what you have now.
