Flash not testing movie properly

So, I have been working on this fla for weeks now. Just friday, I tested it and it worked beautifully nothing wrong! Then Flash crashed (CS- my computer does this to me all the time so I wasnt shocked, and my file was saved anyway) and I reopen it and test it again, and I got a small white window that had nothing in it. My fla is driven completely by code, but there are MC's and such on the stage that are always there. So I close out the swf that didnt work, and tested it again, this time it appeared but nothing functioned. I tested this on two other computers with the same result, so I gave up for the day. I come back to it today, same issue, but if I just test the same swf in Flash Player, everything is functional with absolutely no issue....
I test the same swf in debugger, and it doesn't function, and I get null errors, that in Flash Player don't occur (and didnt when flash was originally testing them- this is all using the exact same swf!)....Any thoughts? has anyone else come across this?
The other thing to note is that this occurs with older files as well, files that I know for a fact have no issue, and used to preview just fine....

if all your fla files fail to work as you expect, try reinstalling flash pro.

Flash CS4 "Test Movie" vs Debug/Standalone

After some rigorous testing on a file that has given me
multiple issues, I noticed a discrepancy. When I tested in Flash
CS4 using CTRL-ENTER
(Win XP SP3 - just FYI, not really issue-relevant I don't
think), the file previewed just like I expected it to, but
since it was still in development and not finalized, my code could
have (read: most likely was) been flawed. However, just to be safe
I ran it in the Debug Flash Player, and the code did not work. I
even tried using File>Publish from Flash and played that swf.
The Standalone Player's results were the same as the Debug
Player's. The code did not work.
Is there something I am missing or is this a bug? Why
wouldn't the Flash CS4 Test Movie Player produce the same results
as the Standalone Player? Thanks to all who reply.

I'm in CS4 (see title
). I always have strict mode on and I am not loading
any external data. It's all self-contained. I'm beginning to think
that it's a memory issue with Event.ENTER_FRAME, but it would make
more sense to not run properly in the Flash IDE rather than than
the Standalone Player.

Flash play works, but not test movie

Admittedly, I am still very new to Flash and have worked
through some of the tutorials. I created some animated text using
the size and rotate feature as well as the alpha to lighted it up.
I have 4 different layers with different text on each layer that
comes in at different frames. When I "play" the frames it works
great, but when I choose "Test Movie" it shows 2 frames of my work
around 25 and 26. What am I missing and/or should I have created
this another way?

Why Flash CHATROOM Test Movie Runnable but cannot run it as ".SWF"??

Here's my Flash runnable as CHATROOM
JAVA server
Flash client
RUNNABLE in Flash Test Movie (Ctrl-Enter)
But it does not respond when I put the ".swf" into the Internet and connect it back to JAVA server host.
No response at all. No connection at all.
What's the problem? What should I do??

Is the swf in the same folder as the web page that loads it?

Flash CS6 Test Movie blank

I am using Flash CS6 (12.0.0.481) on a mac, with Flash Player Plug-in version 13.0.0.201 installed.
If I test movie using ⌘↵, it produces a blank preview - This only occurs in Flash Player 10 upwards, Flash Player 9 works fine
publish preview ⌘F12 also works, but doesn't show trace commands
Has anyone experienced this before?

Crossdomain.xml allow Flash CS4 Test Movie sandbox?

If I set the crossdomain to allow all with a wildcard, running test movie on the FLA within Flash CS4 works. But is there a way to allow my specific computer instead? I've tried adding my IP address, but that doesn't seem to be working.

The SWF is attempting to load external assets using an absolute path 'http://mydomain.com/stuff'.

Can not export as swf, can not test movie

Everything was working fine, then one day, it just stopped
exporting my document. If i try to "test movie", as it is
"exporting movie" it just stops half way, same thing when i try to
export it as a swf. If i try to do this 2 times in a row, the
application just closes. Please help me, I finally finished my

if you can't publish your fla, try removing 1/2 the library
items and retry. if that fails remove the other 1/2 of library
items. see if the problem is in your library and try and pinpoint
it.

Flash CC "Test Movie"

Hello folks,
i got a problem and I dont't know how to fix it.
Everytime I test my Movie "CTRL-ENTER" the window opens up very, very small. It is totally annoying since I have to manually stretch the window everytime. Pls have a look at the screenie.
I tried to reinstall flash cc, tried to reset the configuration. I guess flash cc does nor save last positions and the size of specific windows.

SujaiS, Size is in pixel.
I find a way to "bypass" the problem. The first time I launch the test window, it's always too small, but if I keep it open and re-launch the test, window appear in the correct size. So, I don't close the test window and it work.
It is annoying and not a great fix in the long term, I hope Adobe will find a way to correct that.
Note that my timeline is empty. Everything is created with AS3.

3Gs not playing movies properly - help !

I have recently tried playing movies on my new iphone 3gs and now some movies have big green blobs flashing up all over the screen,all these movies played on my last iphone without a problem.
P.s. these are mp4's

You need to download Videora (free) and reprocess the mp4 files with 3GS as the selected output format. It's not all that user friendly (IMHO) but will do batch processing.
The 3GS video electronics is new -- and different than earlier models.

Why does the button only work in test scene, not test movie?

Hi everyone, I have a very frustrating problem with my flash project.
I have two scenes in my flash movie, each of them has lots of links and navigation within itself. And there is one button that takes you from one scene to another.
When I test Scene 2, everything works fine. However, when I test the whole movie, the navigation within Scene 2 won't work and there is no error!
Does anyone has any thought about what is going wrong?

My Scene 1 has some key frames and some gotoAndStop functions navigate between the frames. My Scene 2 has basically the same set up, but different content.
Then I use a button to jump from Scene 1 to Scene 2.

"StoreHomeBtn" is the instant name of a the button. Through this code, I want it to go to and stop at frame 1 of Scene 2 on pressing this button. It does jump to frame 1 of Scene 2, but once it goes to Scene 2, all the gotoAndStop functions in Scene 2 don't work and no errors show up.

Livetype not playing movie properly

I am using Livetype when I place a movie in background I want some text to appear which is in synchronization with the person speaking and these are a group of 2-3 words which has to appear I have to do such things in majority of my clips.
Exporting a livetype clip to FCP then positioning it correctly on time line rendering then again adjusting time in livetype and then repeated the the above step is too time consuming is there a shorter way or is it possible that I can hear the voice in livetype also while editing.

No it is not that what I want is I have a lot of editing to finish all this is not any hi fi effect I have simple edits but timings problems have made my life difficult I want to be able to add text which has same effect as the one coming in Livetype but simultaneously keep listening to the video so that while I am typing in the text simultaneously I can view the clip forward that way I do not have to worry about the clip like when Livetype window becomes active then FCP wont play if FCP window becomes active then Livetype wont play so I was thinking if some how in Livetype I could listen and view clip while listening I will edit some thing like I can be able to divide my screen in two parts on one I can keep watching the movie and in other all text editing is possible I am using 2 monitors hooked on to the same machine for larger visibility.

Quicktime not streaming movies properly

I watch streaming media a lot, and I was really surprised when the first problem I had was a quicktime streaming problem. The audio is coming through crystal clear, but I see no video at all.
Any ideas?

I'm facing different issues with Quicktime not streaming....I'm trying to access shared files over a LAN and sooner or later it's like QT loses the signal, can't buffer, and gives me rainbow wheel.
Do you see a blank white screen?
What you are quite possibly experience is a missing codec, the XVID codec.
Download it by opening Quicktime under System Preferences, going to "update" tab and clicking "install". You'll be taken to a list; select Xvid; then "Xvid component for QuickTime"; "XviD Component Binary" and then follow the instructions included.
Downloading "Perian" might be an easier solution than this--i believe it contains xvid as well.
Is anyone else having problems streaming/reading shared video since the 10.5.2 update and/or 7.4.1??? Any kind souls have suggestions? I've tried thousands of approaches and nothing works.

Flash CS4 - Background Colour Change Not Changing in Test Movie

Hello,
Whenever I change the document's background colour in Flash CS4 and then "test movie", the background colour remains white. However if I publish it the colour will be the selected colour.
It's not a huge deal since it publishes right, but I'd really like to be able to test my movie with the correct background colour.
I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.8, and I am updated to the latest version of CS4.

Could you describe the setup or link a file with the problem? I can't reproduce the problem with basic fades (obviously they should continue to work when you switch the player). Is it just in the document you're working on, or all documents you create?

Buttons work in Flash not in test Movie

The buttons are simple roll-overs that goto a labeled page in
the timeline. Simple. I've done hundreds. Have no clue why this is
happening. They work when "enable simple buttons" is activate but
when I "Test Movie" the roll-overs don't work and neither does the
action script that sends it to a certain "page". Here is the code.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

first. Is this code on the actual button? or is it placed on
a frame?
second. you mentioned that your roll over does not work. but
the code you provided doesnt check for roll over...it checks for
release.
third. Are your frame labels correctly named? it can happen
quite often that a simple spelling mistake can be the cause of
annoying headaches.
Let me know how it goes, and we'll go from there.

Buttons not working in test movie

i am having a problem with some buttons. I am new to flash so maybe it's something elementary i am doing wrong. I created a simple scene and have two buttons. "The fear" and "back'. I want the fear button to begin playing movie at frame 2 so i typed on(release){ gotoAndPlay(2);} on three lines obviously. Same with back button except stop at frame 1. buttons work perfectly when i enable test buttons but when i test movie they don't work properly
any help would be greatly appreciated

If you remove the code from the buttons do they react properly to a mouse over interaction?
What is the code that is in place?
