Flash not updating in browser
Hi,
Firstly i am not sure if this is the correct forum, basically i have updated my flash movie on my website, and the updates have taken effect in mozilla and google chrome, however in IE 7 & 8 the old flash movie still displays. I get this is down to the cache and i have tried several code snippets to correct this but nothing seems to make a difference.
Is there anything that i can do with the flash code to force the browsers to reload the the movie each time they visit??
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lee
One option would be to append a time and/or date to the end of the file name, as is done in "news tickers". For example:
xmlData.load("news_ticker.xml?blarg="+new Date().getTime());
http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx2004/newsticker2.htm
scroll down the page a ways for explaination.
Best wishes,

I am at a complete loss, flash isn't working on any browser, Mozilla, Opera, IE, SeaMonkey or Chrome. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled, yet, nothing works.

If not, please try the following:
1.) Uninstall using the uninstaller, as described here here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
2.) Reboot
3.) Download and install Flash Player from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Flash not updating on Chrome - Mac 10.5.8
Hi all,
I just ran into this problem this morning because my computer at work was "updated" from an old piece of crap to a semi-old piece of crap.
I'm now running OS 10.5.8 and was happy that Chrome was FINALLY installed – only to find that it's wonky and not running Flash.
I'm getting the same issues and windows you're seeing:
Which would lead you to:
And you'd do your install, restart Chrome... and it would still be wonky.
The problem is – you can't updated Flash in Chrome... it auto updates itself. It doesn't matter what version you download, it can't update manually.
After a little searching on the web, I found this:
So Chrome is no longer supported for Mac OSX 10.5.8 — you can either update your operating system or switch to Firefox or Safari.Beginning with Firefox 4, Macs must have an Intel x86 processor; your system is a PPC Mac.
*System Requirements: [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/4.0/system-requirements/index.html Firefox 4] [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/5.0/system-requirements/index.html Firefox 5] [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/6.0/system-requirements/index.html Firefox 6] [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/7.0/system-requirements/index.html Firefox 7] [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/8.0/system-requirements/index.html Firefox 8]
The good news is that Firefox 3.6.24 still supports the PPC Mac architecture. The bad news is that support for the Firefox 3.6.x series is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.
*System requirements: [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/3.6/system-requirements/index.html Firefox 3.6.x]
*Download Firefox 3.6.24: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
You can try the third-party product '''''TenFourFox''''' that supports PPC Macs. Firefox 8 version of '''''TenFourFox''''' is available. The product is based on Firefox released versions. All support is provided by the developer, not by this site:

*Developer's blog: http://tenfourfox.blogspot.com/

Adobe Flash not updating timely
My system is Windows 7. I have Adobe Flash set to update automatically, which it will do when I restart the computer. But if I am playing a video and an update comes out, the video will cut off and I have to stop and manually update Adobe Flash right that minute or nothing that uses flash will work. This is getting very frustrating because I have to close everything that I have open for the update to take place.
Sorry for misunderstanding. There wasn't a question in the original post.
While we don't recommend it, as each Flash update typically includes important security enhancements designed to keep your browsing sessions secure, you can modify your update settings. Open the Control Panel and choose Flash Player. Click the Advanced Tab, and move the setting from Always Allow Updates from Adobe (Recommended) to Notify me to install updates. I would strongly advise you against choosing Never, as you will leave yourself exposed to future threats. -
I've only been using Flash for about a year but this is the
first time I've run into this problem. I have a simple Flash file
(swf) that plays fine in Dreamweaver and/or Contribute. But, when I
publish it to the web, it does not appear. I've attached the code.
If anyone can offer suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.HawkYF wrote:

My computer has been turned off for almost a year. When reconnecting, refreshing, updating, etc, everything that needs to be done on the computer, i come across the problem of firefox acting as though I did not update anything. I've followed all the prompts and directions from every site, for say Flash for example, and no matter how many times I run the update program, over in firefox the page never changes from the prompt telling me to upgrade the program. The program doesn't seem to update, even though I just told it to update. It's doing this with multiple programs. Please help me. What do I do?
Thank you! I don't know exactly which of these fixed the problem, but after turning my computer off to go to the hospital, then returning home later, I found that everything worked just as it should again.
Now my only problem is with my damn Wacom Bamboo tablet and Bamboo Dock program refusing to work properly, but, that's not a firefox issue so. I suppose I'll try to fine the help place like this one at the Wacom site or something,...
I'm rambling, sorry.
Thank you all so much again. -
I can't install flash player at all, not matter what browser is in !
Hi
I have this annoying problem with my Flash Player, I can't install it no matter what i browser it is in. When eg. I have to play a video from youtube, I can't use IE (Internet Explorer) to play it in, but in Googles Chrome and in Mozillas Firefox, there it works without any problem.
Another problem is also when I am going into www.adobe.com in IE, then it says - For the complete experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser. Thank you! , the script is active in the internet settings, I have check, but it is still not working.
If I uninstall Flash Player totally, and I would like to installed it again, I can't do it,, not matter what browser, it just stops, when iI try to install it . There is no problem installing or updating, Air, Shockwave. In this matter Flash Player will not cooperate at all, it will not let we installed it at all.
New I have tryed is that I installed the new flash player 16 demo, there were no problem in the installation, but it will still work in IE. It still says - For the complete experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser. Thank you! on www.adobe.com and it still not works on youtube.com. The script is active in the internet settings, I have check, but it is still not working.
I hope anymore is interresting in helping me in this annoying problem !
Regards
PeterIt have never been enabled while I have had this issue ! Just try again to install it again, still same problem. It is almost like it comes to some kind of a time out, and then it just stops try to install ! Stranges

No sound in flash-related videos since I updated my browser and flash.
I updated my browser and flash. Before this I had no problems whatsoever with sound in flash videos. I was watching them just fine and then I installed the updates, and all of a sudden flash vids play fine, but have no volume. I tried adjusting the mixer volume on my system tray and nothing. I don't want to go uninstalling and reinstalling and losing years of settings because somebody couldn't code flash properly.

Flash Player update causes radio on-line not to function
I have Windows 8 and use Firefox as browser. The recent Flash Player update has caused radio on-line not to function. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Flash but the programme won't install. It downloads and then sticks, I've tried about 10 times! I overcame this by re-installing an older version and then my radio on-line works but when Flash automatically updated the programme the same thing occurred and radio no longer worked. I contacted Know How but they couldn't find out what the problem is either. Please can you advise me how to fix this.
Ken,
Same problem here. I use
http://www.webaudioplus.com/
as well and started experiencing the same problem after the latest
upgrade. Like you I didn't hear any clicks and pops at various
pitches until after the upgrade and have been making .swf files Web
Audio Plus for about a year.
Interestingly enough, when I play the file directly by
dbl/clicking on it, and just play via the Web Audio Plus media
buttons, the file plays just fine.
And the problem does not seem to be germane only to my PC as
though it was a sound card related issue because the same thing
happens when I play web files I have done in the past on my
assistants PC that were fine but since the latest Flash upgrade now
they have the same issues as my PC when playing the files embedded
on a web page.
I had not tried restoring (I'm on XPpro) but obviously that
only solves the problem for me. I'm starting to get complaints in
our Support Desk about this.
I appreciate your post. It's the only one I could find on the
subject.
I certainly hate to think this is something Macromedia is
going to blame on Web Audio Plus.
If I find anything in my research I'll be sure to post it
here.
