Flash Player 10.1.53.64 Update Issues in HTML renderring

Hi,
We have created lot of Flash based dynamic reports, where content is getting injected by XML. Recently we have seen lot of issues in the way the content is being renderred in flash player specifically on 10.1.53.64 update release. Just to give one example: Earlier I used to get the content as a HTML formatted text like <b>balh blah blah   blah blah</b>
All the previous flash palyer prior to this latest version used to render the above html text proplery in the html textfield element. But recently in this new Flash player same is not working
What's weird in the above html code?
User creates the formatted sentence in Java based applications text editor, which is then being passed to XML file as a string and then to Flash. When user want to embed "&" as a character and provides space after it, Flash Player 10.1.53.64 is not able to understand the html code and the string gets displayed as is in flash player.
I know the solution to problem, i.e. if I pass string as <b>balh blah blah &amp  blah blah</b> it works fine in new player. But this is just one instance of it. Earlier flash player had no problem with this string? Is it something changed in Flash Layer 10.1.53.64 which is causing some issues.
What are the things that we need to take care of for similar instances?? Has any one faced similar issues in their code?
Please let me know.
Regards,
Ashish

We too have noticed a few new nasty parsing differences in the new  10.1.53.64 player.  Not only with '<' and '>' but with  other character entities (named, hex and decimal).  From our analysis it  appears that the new player parses CDATA differently than before.  In  our case we've found that we'll probably have to add '&' to  every character entity by hooking into the XML object's 'onData' method.
Due to the  volume of content we have changing the source content is out of the  question.
As far as I can see the only bug that seems to  be logged for this is:  http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-5031
I would recommend going there and voting to have this addressed.
I  wish Adobe would acknowledge the issue by either saying it was a  purposeful change or a bug.  My vote is that it's a bug.

  • Firefox not recognizing flash player 10.1.82.76 update

Hi, I have a problem installing the latest flash player update on my firefox browser. I got the the installer page (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) and I install everything and follow all of the instructions, and flash player installs successfully, but it says it installed version 10.1.53.64. I've tried uninstalling the previous version with the instructions on this page (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html) several times, but it still shows the flash player version on the site, which means it wasn't uninstalled. I've also tried using the stand alone installer after disabling the adobe getplus plugin in firefox, but it still shows flash player version 10.1.53.64 as my current version in firefox plugins. However, I installed the flash player 10.1.82.76 update on to Internet Explorer 8 without any problems, it's just Firefox that I'm having trouble with. Thanks for the Help.

  • Why does an internet video site tell me I need to update my flash player when it is already updated?

    Hello.
Have been watching some videos on some popular streaming websites like MegaVideo and I am getting a message saying this:
"You need a newer Flash player version to use this player. Please click here and update your Flash player to the latest version or open the following link manually:
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/"
However I am updated my flash players to the lastest version. I even went to the about page to see that it actually updated. I even can see the spinning F.
I have tried everything else I can think of. Please help.
Browser: Firefox 9.01 (NOTE: I think my Flash Player was working before I updated to Firefox 9)
    Computer: 64-Bbit
Anything either info I need to let you guys know?
EDIT: Even tried it on IE9 and still get the same message.

Opps. Sorry about that. Windows 7 64-Bit. And its only any on site that has Megavideo streamed, everywhere else works fine like youtube and such. When I get home from work I will see about taking a screenshot of the video and message. Was going to do that but forgot.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • How do I prevent Adobe flash player from prompting me with updates so frequently?

Adobe Flash player is the WORST!!!  It prompts me to install updates more frequently than ANY OTHER SOFTWARE that is I use and does not support automatic background updates via the app store.  I am not interested in hearing about updates more than once a year.  How do I disable them from prompting me so frequently?

  • Flash Player 10.2 won't update

    I work on a 32bit Windows7 laptop, with HDD 500GB and 4GB Ram.
Since the beginning of Marchl, I haven't been able to update Flash Player; when I get an update warning, and try to run it, I get a message saying I already have a previous version of FP installed and that I have to close down all programs and scripts using Flash...the only problem is that I haven't anything open; on my laptop, there's only Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome (the program itself is not even installed) - which I use to watch YouTube videos - who work perfectly; I have MSN Messenger, too, but it was closed when I ran the install.exe application.
When I got that message for the first time, I followed the Knowledge Base, used the Flash Player Uninstaller provided on http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.htm to delete everything; it worked and I installed FP 10.2.153.1. I tried the same this time, too, but it didn't work - once I reboothed my notebook, the Plugin was back on.
I have another laptop, with a 64bit Windows7 - HDD 250GB and 2GB Ram - where, last time I tried a few days ago, I could update it normally.
Some can help me, please? Especially since Adobe does not have Phone support for Flash Player (don't know if that happens in Italy, only).

Hi, thanks. I think you are reading too fast. You missed this that I asked:
Thanks. Go to Tools, Manage addons and under "Show"(very light text) look in those categories for Shockwave Flash Object.
It needs to be Installed and Enabled.
Also, at Tools, Internet Options make sure that under Security it is set at Medium for the Internet Zone.
Have you had any Viruses or Malware?
I need to know if that addon is Installed and Enabled. Plus the Security Setting above.
Now, one thing on your Avast & Norton. You shouldn't have two Anti-Virus programs running on the same machine. This causes your system to be unstable. You should Uninstall one of them, but make sure you use their Removal Tool available on their websites.
Right now the most important addon you need to find is the Shockwave Flash Object. I understand Flash Player is listed in the Control/Panel Add/Remove or Programs and Features. However, that add on is the CONTROL needed to make Flash Player work!!
    Thanks,

  • What version of Flash Player in 10.4.7 update

I know Safari gets updated to version 2.0.4. Does Flash Player get updated??

    fyi, from the SU verbage:
Security Update 2006-003 is recommended for all users and improves the security of the following components.
    Flash Player Plug-in
    Flash Player
    CVE-ID: CVE-2005-2628, CVE-2006-0024
Available for: Mac OS X v10.3.9, Mac OS X Server v10.3.9, Mac OS X v10.4.6, Mac OS X Server v10.4.6
Impact: Playing Flash content may lead to arbitrary code execution
Description: Adobe Flash Player contains critical vulnerabilities that may lead to arbitrary code execution when specially-crafted files are loaded. Further information is available via the Adobe web site at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/security/security_zone/apsb06-03.html. After the new update, I 'm unable to play the flash video on few sites such as PBS Frontiine which used to work fine an hour bedfore update and I was always able to see such video since I got my N900, 4 month ago. it asks to install flash player. Have a friend who also expeiencing same issue after update. Hesitant to update my other N900 the works properly.
Is there a patch for te flash player or is this is a flaw?
Does anyone know if there is possibility of being able to reload previous SW?

you can go back to the older firmware but i think you have to flash it tho

  • Flash Player 9.0.115.0 update breaks getUrl in IE

I am aware of the other discussions that have already been
started on this forum regarding the v.115 issues:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=194&threadid =1320695&enterthread=y
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=194&threadid =1320695&enterthread=y
But since there hasn't been any activity there since mid
December i am starting a new one, outlining my problem.
The company I work for supplies flash games to one of our
customers. Their production system is setup as follows:
The main HTML page is setup with frames and located at a
certain domain (for example: fungames.com). One of the frames in
their site loads up the flash games from a sub domain
    (games.fungames.com) into that frame.
getUrl calls from the flash games that are targeted to the
games.fun.com are not working in IE since updating to v.115 of the
    flash player.
Everything is working perfectly in Firefox and also if i
navigate directly to the sudomain and try the games out.
I have tried out the following solutions and none work:
Changing the allowScriptAcces to "always" when using JS to
    embed the swf.
Changing the allowScriptAcces to "always" when embeding the
swf using the standard object way.
This is causing huge problems for our customer, making
functionality in some games unavailable and making other games
    unplayable in IE.
Please fix this in the player or suggest a workaround.

This local problem is a different security related issue than
the original problem, and has been a change that started in Flash
Player 8. this has nothing to do with the 'allowscriptaccess' tag,
which only effects SWF playing in HTML served via a web server.
    If you read livedocs:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/00001078.html
    ... you'll see that when you're in the 'local-with-filesystem'
security sandbox then any call to an HTML page is considered a
network call, and will be blocked by the security mechanism.
The workaround (for local testing) is a bit of a pain. In
fact, it's easier to just upload the HTML and the SWF and test it
on the live server than to do the workaround (which is to add your
HTML it's containing folders to the Flash Player trust
    locations..)

  • Flash Player 11.3.300.257 has issues with Firefox 13

Yesterday I did a speedtest on http://speedtest.ziggo.nl. My download value was the same as my upload value so I contacted my provider to see if there was a problem. Discovered myself that the problem wasn't my internet connection but the update of Flash Player I did some hours earlier. On Internet Explorer and Chrome I get normal download values when I do a speedtest, but on Firefox the download value is the same as the upload value. Also I get a lot of 'Flash Player is crashing' popup windows.
I use Firefox 13 on Windows x64. Updated to Flash Player 11.3.300.257.
I uninstalled Flash using Adobe's uninstaller and installed a previous version (11.2) and everything was working fine again. I got normal download and upload values when doing above speedtest. When I updated to 11.3.300.257 again, the download value was as low as the upload value again and besides that a lot of Flash error popups again.
So apparently the Flash Player 11.3.300.257 plugin for Firefox has a serious bug of some kind?

    Hey Chris,
I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
         1)  Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel).  Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
         2)  I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop.  I ran this app to install Firefox.
         3)  I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used).  I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again).  You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning:  Unresponsive script" and says the following:
A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding.  You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete.  Script:  chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.
    Hope this info helps!
    Jeff
NOTE:  As a reminder, I do not have RealPlayer installed on my laptop (and never have had it installed)

  • Flash player not detected since latest update?

This morning when I logged onto my machine, I was notified
that there was an update to the Adobe Flash Player. I went ahead
and let it install. Afterward, I went to a website to do some work,
but found when I got there that the site's flash player detection
code was failing, and I was provided with a link to download the
latest version. So, I went to Adobe's site and ran the install
again, and it went to the screen where the little flash movie pops
up to show that the install was successful. However, upon returning
to the website I originally came from, it was still not detecting
    the Flash Player!
I went directly to Adobe's website, and even their front page
isn't detecting the flash player, as it put me at an static version
of the site. I tried going into the control panel page for the
Flash Player, due to reading a forum post here saying there was som
cab file thing I might need to mess with to fix this problem, but
the control panel page just notifies me that I need to download the
    player.
When even the creator's home page doesn't recognize that I've
installed its product, that seems like a serious problem to me.
I've gone to a number of other sites with heavy flash content, and
95% of them told me to download the latest version of the Flash
Player. I think something about the player's detection process is
broken. I even completely uninstalled the player and reinstalled it
from scratch, and it's still not working.
    Any ideas?
ADDENDUM: This appears to be an IE 7 issue, as Firefox is
having no trouble getting the player detected.

After JUST posting the above message i found another thread
on this site that is focusing on the same problem. I found a
solution in that thread that worked with a few mods for XP. Again I
am running XP SP2 and IE6.
Here's the solution as posted, I think for a Vista user that
was experiencing the same behavior from Flash:
    1. Go to WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash and find uninstaller
    2. After you run uninstaller the "Flash" folder should
disappear itself...if not, you manually delete it
    3. Install the flash player again with the file you download
    from adobe
    http://www.adobe.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_msi
I followed step 1, but the only uninstaller i could find in
the Flash folder was an unistaller for the Flash9.ocx, so i ran it.
It however did NOT delete the Flash folder itself, so i did what
step 2 recommended and deleted the Flash folder altogether. Then I
    went to Adobe's site at
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
and downloaded the Flash9 installer, ran it, and bingo! Flash works
    again.

  • Flash Player can not auto check update

Why I Flash Player the 11.1.102.55 will not automatically check for updates?
I installed did not change to setup. And also see in the console check the [Automatically check for updates] is auto.

    Good morning
I am also having issues with Adobe Flash Player.
The automatic update feature, will not work for me and I find myself having to manually re-install Adobe Flash Player everytime I log into my computer.
In the Flash Player Settings Manager
In the default settings, I ticked Allow Adobe To Install Updates (recommended)
but because it never actually automatically updates
I have changed my default settings to: Notify Me To Install Updates.
And I am running the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.4.402.287.
If someone could explain to me, what I'm doing wrong and why Adobe Flash Player won't automatically update for me, that would be great.

  • Flash Player not Working, even After Update?

I noticed that whenever I tried to load a video yesterday, I kept getting the "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed" message. This morning, I installed the new Adobe update and I am still getting the problem. I have never encountered a problem running flash player until yesterday. What should I do? My browser, Firefox, is also up-to-date.

Would you also mind reporting this as a new bug over at bugbase.adobe.com?  Please include a copy of your dxdiag report, the exact url where the crashes occur and a crash log.  You can find instructions for getting the crash log for firefox here:

  • Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76 update just released (fixes SWF in PPT bug)

    Hi,
If you are using the Adobe Flash Player make sure you update to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76 ([released by Adobe on August 10th 2010|https://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-16.html]).
As well as having the latest security fixes this update also fixes the Adobe Flash Player bug that stopped Xcelsius SWFs from working when you embedded them into a PPT: https://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-16.html
FYI: Xcelsius is based on Adobe Flex and this bug also affected any Adobe Flex based SWF that was embedded into a PPT not just Xcelsius.

    Hi,
If you are using the Adobe Flash Player make sure you update to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76 ([released by Adobe on August 10th 2010|https://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-16.html]).
    Regards
    Matt
