Flash Player 9.0.115.0 update breaks getUrl in IE

I am aware of the other discussions that have already been
started on this forum regarding the v.115 issues:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=194&threadid =1320695&enterthread=y
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=194&threadid =1320695&enterthread=y
But since there hasn't been any activity there since mid
December i am starting a new one, outlining my problem.
The company I work for supplies flash games to one of our
customers. Their production system is setup as follows:
The main HTML page is setup with frames and located at a
certain domain (for example: fungames.com). One of the frames in
their site loads up the flash games from a sub domain
(games.fungames.com) into that frame.
getUrl calls from the flash games that are targeted to the
games.fun.com are not working in IE since updating to v.115 of the
flash player.
Everything is working perfectly in Firefox and also if i
navigate directly to the sudomain and try the games out.
I have tried out the following solutions and none work:
Changing the allowScriptAcces to "always" when using JS to
embed the swf.
Changing the allowScriptAcces to "always" when embeding the
swf using the standard object way.
This is causing huge problems for our customer, making
functionality in some games unavailable and making other games
unplayable in IE.
Please fix this in the player or suggest a workaround.

This local problem is a different security related issue than
the original problem, and has been a change that started in Flash
Player 8. this has nothing to do with the 'allowscriptaccess' tag,
which only effects SWF playing in HTML served via a web server.
If you read livedocs:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/00001078.html
... you'll see that when you're in the 'local-with-filesystem'
security sandbox then any call to an HTML page is considered a
network call, and will be blocked by the security mechanism.
The workaround (for local testing) is a bit of a pain. In
fact, it's easier to just upload the HTML and the SWF and test it
on the live server than to do the workaround (which is to add your
HTML it's containing folders to the Flash Player trust
locations..)

  • [ANNOUNCE] Flash Player 9.0.115.0 getURL("javascript:..") failure LIVE cross-domain

    2/21/08 Update:
There is a technote covering these two issues.
"getURL and navigateToURL issues with Flash Player 9.0.115.0
    ActiveX control"
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403072
As of today we have two open bugs specific to Flash Player
9.0.115.0 ActiveX control and the use of getURL("javascript:...")
    syntax..
I will be writing a technote describing the workarounds today
or tomorrow, but I wanted to share some of my testing with the
community so you can see what the story is.
    Issue one:
getURL("javascript:blah()") failing when the content is local
to a drive or cd or dvd. This is a legit bug, not a problem with
    FlashPlayer trust.
This post does not describe issueone , but you -can- use the
source FLA's to test issue one.
    Issue two:
getURL("javascript") failing with live content if the HTML
and SWF are in separate domains. IE6 and IE7 only.
ExternalInterface has been successful as a workaround for
that as well (in my tests at least...)
At this point I cannot provide an ETA on any fixes, though I
am pushing hard for these to be addressed in the next planned
update (no, i cannot tell you when that is, sorry).
    OK now for my testing.
Each test uses the same SWF setup, but the javascript and
html change as necessary. The results of –my- testing are
    below each link.
All my tests are with Flash Player 9.0.115.0. As most on the
thread surely know these bugs were injected in the 9.0.115.0
development process and do not appear in 9.0.47.0....
There are four tests in each version (top to bottom)
    -- button 1: getURL
    -- button 2: externalInterface passing a string via a
variable, which is caught by javascript in the HTML page
    -- button 3: fscommand
    -- button 4: externalInterface calling 'window.open' directly
    with no in-page javascript
-- Buttons 1 through 3 (top to bottom) fire an alert, put
some text into the debug text box in the SWF and open a new window.
-- Button 4 only opens a new window, puts some text into the
debug text box, but no alert (because it’s a direct call to
    window.open)
    Scenario 1:
HTML and SWF in same domain, no frames
    The original AS2 version:
    http://www.bentimagemedia.com/escalations/cs3_getURL/getURL_AS2.html
    FireFox OSX – all pass
    FireFox XP – all pass
    IE6 XP – all pass
    IE7 Vista - all pass
    The AS3 version:
    http://www.bentimagemedia.com/escalations/cs3_getURL/getURL_AS3.html
    FireFox OSX – all pass
    FireFox XP – all pass
    IE6 XP – all pass
    IE7 Vista - all pass
    Scenario 2:
HTML and SWF in same domain, frameset, calls going to same
frames – this setup has two horizontal frames with the AS2
version of the SWF in the top, the AS3 version in the bottom.
    http://www.bentimagemedia.com/escalations/cs3_getURL/frames/getURL_frames.html
    FireFox OSX – all pass
    FireFox XP – all pass
    IE6 XP – all pass
    IE7 Vista - all pass
Scenario 3: (THIS IS ISSUE TWO ABOVE)
HTML and SWF on different domains, calls going to the same
frames – same swf’s, same setup with modified HTML. The
HTML lives on bentimagemedia, but the SWF’s are embedded from
    supportflash.com
    http://www.bentimagemedia.com/escalations/cs3_getURL/frames_crossdomain/getURL_frames_cros sdomain.html
    FireFox OSX – all pass
    FireFox XP - all pass
    IE6 XP – Button 1 getURL("javascript"...) fires
function, but does not open new window.
    - all other buttons pass
    IE7 Vista - Button 1 getURL("javascript...) fires function,
no new window same as IE6.
    -- all other buttons pass

  • I encountered a problem when using Flash Player V9.0.115, can somebody help me?

Hello all, can somebody help me?
I have encountered a problem when using Flash Player
V9.0.115. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    The problem described as follows:
    1. The flash file with sound works well before uploaded to
website. The audio lost when uploaded to the website(There is no
problem with the flash file size). I have uploaded the flash file
to website for you to test. Please go to
    http://www.sameshow.com/democreator/create
a new site.swf and kindly check with it.
    2. When we open the flash movie in IE with Flash player
V9.0.47 and previous versions (Flash9d.ocx), the flash movie with
    sound works well.
    3. When we upgrade the flash player to the latest version
V9.0.115 (Flash9e.ocx), the video works well, but the sound just
can play several seconds and then stop.
    4. On Flash Player ocx V9.0.115. If we publish the flash
movie on web with 24fps, the sound just can work several seconds
and then stop, the problem is the same if we use the
TShockWaveFlash control to play the flash movie.
    5. On Flash Player ocx V9.0.115. If we publish the flash
movie with 12fps, the sound works well but the quality is really
very poor. It seems that the sound plays shorter with more frames
per second. But the flash file works well with the Flash Player
    V9.0.47 and previous versions (Flash9d.ocx).
Can somebody help me to figure it out? Thanks in advance!

    Sabrina

  • Crossdomain.xml with Flash player 9.0.115.0

    Hi gurus,
I have just spent the best part of a day wading through the
new security features of Flash Player 9.0.115.0. I use flash.socket
library, so I have discovered that error message I've been getting
will get worse, ie., next version of the Flash Player may not even
connect. So I got the good oil from
    here.
I have written a crossdomain.xml file that looks like this
    (it's in the www root):
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <cross-domain-policy>
    <site-control
    permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only"/>
    <allow-access-from domain="192.168.5.201"
    to-ports="7700"/>
    </cross-domain-policy>
Problem is that the flash player adds the follwing line to
    the \Logs\policyFiles.txt it generates:
Warning: Domain 192.168.5.201 does not specify a meta-policy.
Applying default meta-policy 'all'. This configuration is
    deprecated. See
    http://www.adobe.com/go/strict_policy_files
    to fix this problem.
From my reading I have specified a meta-policy with the line:
    <site-control
    permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only"/>
So my question is why can't it find the meta-policy?

    kcell,
thanks for the reply. Actually you are a bit ahead of me. I
have a single web-server and I'm not actually trying to cross
domains! However, the security advice says (page 4 of the link I
    gave in my original post)
"A URL policy file authorizes data loading from its own HTTP,
HTTPS, or FTP server, whereas a socket policy file authorizes
socket connections to its own host."
So because I'm using a socket connection I still need a
crossdomain.xml. For this sockect connection I am going to open up
port 843 (as Adobe recommends) on my web-server for this policy to
    be loaded when calling flash.socket.connect(...).
However, that isn't actually my problem. What I've also done,
I think, is added a line to my crossdomain.xml file that will
define a meta-policy, to prevent clients from other domains
accessing my server (also recommended by Adobe). The line is:
    <site-control
    permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only"/>, but I don't
think my SWF is reading the file because I get that error message:
Warning: Domain 192.168.5.201 does not specify a meta-policy.
Applying default meta-policy 'all'. This configuration is
    deprecated. See
    http://www.adobe.com/go/strict_policy_files
    to fix this problem.
    Sory about the excessive waffle!

  • 8/6/2012 - Flash Player 11.4 Beta Updates

Starting this past weekend, users that have Flash Player 11.4 beta 1 installed are now receiving regular updates via the Flash Player update service!
We would like to encourage everyone interested in using and testing the upcoming release of 11.4 to take a minute and install the current beta on labs.adobe.com.  When installing, please make sure you select "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)" to ensure you receive the latest updates which we will make available over the coming days and weeks.
For more information, please see this blog post:
Background Updates are here for Flash Player 11.4 Beta!! Yes, for Beta!!

    Hi Matt,
Sorry I hadn't gotten back to you.  I just searched through my email and couldn't find anything from you except a post back on the 20th of December regarding a crash when watching Flash video.  This was around the time we take our winter break though and I've been out of the office a large percentage of the time since so it's possible it slipped though the cracks.
If you have the crash dump still, I'd definitely be interested in taking a look ([email protected]).  I'm glad to hear you were able to work around the issue, though I do admit I'm not sure why setting a fixed page size should matter to Flash.  I would imagine you might run into other application crashes if this was just a memory issue.

  • Data Services and Flash Player 9.0.115

    Hi All,
Yesterday, I upgraded flash to version 9.0.115 and since then
Flex Data Services do not work. I'm using FDS with ColdFusion(an
application which is a year old now, so I know it works properly).
Just to be sure the upgrade performed properly I tried it on
another computer with the same result. Is this a known issue with
the flash upgrade? Do I need to recompile the flex app with the new
flash? If so will this break in older versions of flash player
    after recompiling?
I've downloaded the flash version 9 archive and tried
installing a previous version but it will now allow the install
since there is a newer version of flash available. I also
downloaded the flash player uninstaller found here
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
and rebooted and tried disconnecting the internet before
    installing(so it wouldn't see a newer version)
    Can anyone please help?

Ive also been having this problem/bug in Firefox 2 and 3 for
    a while.
While watching a Youtube video or any other video site, the
video will suddenly stop and freeze Firefox after a total of
watching about 15 min of content.
However, i have not been able to use Internet Explorer
sometimes any .exe after this bug happens.
along with not just videos but other sites using flash player
related material. The only way to repair my computer temporarily is
to restart my computer and restrain myself from using flash player.
Also, I attempted to resolve the issue by downgrading my
player to 9,0,45,0 only to fail.
    My computer Specs are:
    Windows XP Professional
Intel Pentium D  2.79 GHz 2.50GB of RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
    Free: 3.73 GB/69.79 GB

  • Bug with flash player 9,0,115

    Hi,
I just changed my player Flash, and I updated it to the
    9,0,115.
And now I cannot watch a video on youTube, or on others video
    player (on firefox).
After 3 seconds the média stop.
Do you have an idéa why I have this trouble, and do you
have a solution to fix that.
    Thanks.
    Matt

Yes, I tryed, and I still have this problem.
I also desinstall flash player and reinstall the 9.0.45 flash
player and I have no bug.
But it's really weird to have a bug with the 115 and not with
the 45, especially for a famous web site like youTube

  • Adobe flash Player 12 and Silverlight update

    Hi:
I recently updated to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (12) and Silverlight. Adobe is still saying it needs to be updated and won't let me run anything that needs it. My school e-mail uses the silverlight portion of this and crashes Safari.
    How do I fix this?

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 6
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 7
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 8
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

    I am using Windows 7 - 32 bit. and the IE - 32bit.
I have tried all the uninstalling and installing procedure. But it did not work for me.
In my first post I had told that i was not getting any Addon in my IE. then i figured out when i click show all add-ons, then i see a shock player addon in my IE of the lastest verion 10.2. So please negelct that fact . I have an addon too in my IE 9
    But nothing works.
When I go to the link you have provided. : http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Please note: (all the below browsers are very latest versions)
In chrome - See nothing (place is white)
In IE 9 -  See nothing (place is white)
FF -  See nothing (place is white)
when i right click on that place i get only 2 options:
    1. Movie not loaded....
    2. About Adobe Plash Player 10.2.152.26...
Even when i open the youtube. the video portions are blank. n when i right click on it shows the above same 2 options.
Kill-bit - when i checked it, i had a Compatible flag - but its values where all zeros. Still i deleted it. (So i do not think that was an issue)

    I am using Kaspersky Pure.
I have even checked everthing is fine in my Internet options- Security tab
    1. Internet -
Security level for this zone - Medium-high (Custom level - Scripting=enabled)
    2. Local Intranet -
Security level for this zone - Medium-low (Custom level - Scripting=enabled)
    3. Trusted sites -
Security level for this zone - Medium (Custom level - Scripting=enabled)
Furthere - Uninstall programme shows as follows : (Kindly have a look)
Further - My knowledge - I do not have any adblock or adblock plus. I only suspect if Kaspersky Pure, if it has an option to block it. (I am not aware of it).
Further - In my Chrome Plugin i see like this : I have a doubt here- Why i have 2 shockwave flash versions?
I even tried disabling them one at each time alternatively and tried if youtube works - still same problem.
I am suspecting might be quick time could have generated this problem. i had recently updated the quicktime. But when i checked in the help forum I got to know that quick time can cause problem, so i completly uninstalled it now. I do not have quick time in my system - but still the probelm was same.
    Please help.

  • Flash Player 16.0.0.235 breaks audio driver on Windows

There is a severe bug in the latest version of Flash Player, relating to audio playback on Windows. Ever since upgrading to v16.0.0.235, Flash has been repeatedly breaking audio playback for the entire Windows system (i.e. every application that tries to play back audio, not just Flash itself). This happens regardless of the browser in which Flash is run (tested: Firefox 34.0.5 and Chrome 39.0.2171.95).
There seem to be two "levels" of crashing the audio driver. Both are triggered by simply using Flash content with audio for a while (examples in my case would be MP3 previews on Amazon.com, or YouTube videos).
In a "level 1" crash, Flash elements on pages will just suddenly stop playing back any audio. Some content, such as Amazon MP3 previews, will just skip over all the tracks as each player fails to start audio playback. YouTube videos will play for 1 second without sound, retry using a lower-quality stream, repeat until there are no more streams left and then report that there has been a playback error. No other Windows application is able to play back sound anymore either. They will either fail with some error message related to audio playback, or simply run without sound. (Examples: foobar2000, Spotify, VLC media player...).
A level 1 crash is relatively easy to fix by killing the Flash Player process. If for example the crash happened while using Firefox, I have to kill "plugin-container.exe" or the FlashPlayer executable using the task manager. Once Flash has been killed, it will restart as soon as another Flash content is being played back, and sound will be working again, in Flash and all other Windows applications. I once tried to shut down Windows while in this level 1 crash state, and the shutdown got hung up on trying to quit Windows Explorer, which reported the status message "Playing back logoff sound", which it failed to do for 5+ minutes and just kept trying endlessly. I had to cancel system shutdown, kill the FlashPlayer process first, and then I could shut down Windows.
Sometimes after a few level 1 crashes and restores, there will be a level 2 crash. Now, audio playback will not just fail for applications, but every application that tries to play back audio will freeze completely. Firefox will freeze. It thaws once I kill FlashPlayer, but will freeze again immediately if some other page content loads FlashPlayer again. A tab in Chrome that uses Flash with audio will immediately freeze. Spotify will no longer report an audio playback issue as in level 1, but will freeze when trying to play back a track. Same for any other application I tried. Unfortunately, I haven't found a fix for a level 2 crash short of rebooting the entire system. Killing all Flash-related processes wasn't enough. Not even rebooting the audio driver (by disabling and re-enabling the audio device in Windows' device manager) did the trick.
    My system specs:
    Windows 7 Professional x64
    Adobe Flash Player 16.0.0.235
ASUS Xonar D2X audio interface (driver: v7.12.8.1794)
    On-board Realtek High-Definition Audio interface (driver: v6.0.1.6449)
The Realtek audio is normally not in use, but Flash will crash either audio driver, whichever is active at the moment).
After downgrading to Flash Player 15 I haven't experienced any crashes anymore.
Any help or insight is appreciated!
Edit: the issue seems to be Flash crashing the Windows audio service. I tried stopping and restarting the audiosrv and AudioEndpointBuilder services while in level 2 crash state, both of which failed because neither service reacts to stop/start commands anymore.

I have this EXACT problem as well. I'd like to add that when either 'level' of crash occurs, when I attempt to play a video or audio file through Windows Media Player, I receive the error message: "Your computer is running low on memory. Quit other programs, and then try again" I checked on the task manager and I have plenty of RAM remaining and this error message only occurs when I am experiencing this issue so I am sure that it is caused by this.
