Flash player detection/install failure

First time login to Share. After inputting my Adobe id and
pw, I'm taken to:
https://share.acrobat.com/adc/adc.do
The page has the title "Share beta - Flash player
installation". I see a connection occurring to
fpdownload.macromedia.com and after a short wait, the status bar
reads "Done". There's nothing visible in the browser window except
that when I move the cursor to the center area, it changes to a
text editing cursor.

  • Flash player update/install failure

I know this probably has been answered but I need help.  I have xp sp3, ie 8.  Flash player worked last night, got notice to up date. Loaded installer, tried loading the newest version and got "active x control can not be registered".  I checked and no flash player is installed, turned off norton 360, checked ie settings and they are all as the troublle shooting steps say they should be.  I dont really want to pay someone $36 who I will have trouble communicateing with.  Please help.

I can only imagine that the reason you're seeing that message then is because the ActiveX control is already registered which prevents you from registering it again.
So what you could try is to unregister it and then run the installation again. To unregister the Flash ActiveX control, go to Start | Run and then copy/paste the following into the Run field and click OK: regsvr32 /u C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Director\SwDir.dll
You should get a message telling you that the file SwDir.dll has been successfully unregistered.
If it says that it can't find SwDir.dll, make sure that the operating system can see file extensions. To check that, launch Windows Explorer (CTRL+E) and on the top line, click Tools | Folder Options | View. In the list. Make sure that "Show Hidden Files and Folders" is checkmarked. If there's a checkmark in "Hide Extensions For Known File Types" which is the next option down, remove it, then Apply/OK and then run the command again.
Could you also check to see if this file is present on your PC: Flash9.ocx It will be located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9.ocx if it is.
I don't think you'll find it because it belongs to Flash player v9.0, but you never know.

  • Mac Flash Player 11 install failure

On Macintosh running OS X 7.5 my Safari web sites stopped recognizing my Flash Player; I downloaded the new Flash Player from adobe.com and followed installation instructions but Flash Player would not install It does not appear in the Applications folder, does not get recognized as installed by my web sites. I followed Adobe Support instructions to remove old versions, reinstall Flash but nothing seems to correct the installation error.

  • Flash Player 10 Install Failure

The current firefox installer download and installed for FIrefox seems to be malfunctioning.  I initially took the support call from one of my clients but was able to duplicate it, and continue to duplicate it on my Windows 7 PC running the latest version of Firefox.
Even going out on google and trying a manual install, details listed below was unsuccessful.  Upon going though the manual procedures youtube.com which I use as a Flash testing area still comes up and says I need to install Flash PLayer 10.  Here are the manual instructions I found below:
Download the XPI archive of the Flash Player Plugin to your hard disk (right click on the download link then "Save link  as.."). XPI archives are only ZIP files containing the files used by the  plugins.
So you can safely rename the file you just downloaded, called flashplayer-win.xpi, into flashplayer-win.zip (you are changing its extension from .xpi to .zip)
Extract the files in the archive. You can use any program capable of opening .zip files (WinZip, WinRAR or the free and great 7-zip). There are also websites which can uncompress archives: wobzip.org.
Copy the files flashplayer.xpt and NPSWF32.dll to %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Plugins\
%APPDATA% is not a real folder. It's an alias. By inserting it in your windows explorer address bar, you'll be redirected to the real folder which holds your  applications profiles and settings. The location of this folder depends  on various setting that's why we need the alias and not an absolute  path.
You can open this folder simply choosing "Start → Run → Type in %APPDATA% → OK".
In case you don't have a Plugins folder you can create one and place your files there.
    Restart Firefox
    Enjoy your flash websites!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I've never had this installtion issue before with Firefox in the past, on my Windows or my MAC

This problem is now resolved, thanks to the kind assistance of Klaus Hartnegg [mailto:[email protected]]
searched my computer for *.msi and found "install_flash_player_15_active_x.msi",
Moved it to the directory with "install_flash_player_10_active_x.msi".  deleted the 10, renamed 15 to 10 (to fool the QB installer),
    deleted HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\SafeVersions from the registry.
The Quick Books Premier 2011 installed normally.

  • Flash Player Detection

I am trying to implement flash player detection using the
Flash Player Detection Kit - the actionscript way ie. using
the 'flash_detection.as' and the 'flash_detection.swf', (not
forgetting the 'update_flash.html' file also! )
I put the swf onto my 'index.html' - it being the first page
that is accessed when anyone goes onto our site - and I altered the
.as file to direct users once they had installed FPlayer8 to a page
called trueindex.html ( which was a copy of index.html without the
    flash_detection.swf on it )
All that happened when it had installed flash player 8 was to
keep going back to index.html over and over again!
Because of a desire to sort out flash player detection issues
previously, I had already changed the code on index.html to include
the java script stuff to check for version 8 ( you could look at
the source code on the index page )
I'm just a little clueless as what to do now - my main desire
is to let the un-initiated install the flash player ver8 without
having to restart their PC or do a lot of messing about!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The html wrapper code generated by Flex Builder does this
automatically if you have Project, Flex compiler, use Express
    Install checked.

  • Active X and Flash Player Detection

I am using the newe Flash Player Detection generated from
Flash 8 to look for Flash 6 or higher. It all works well when
tested until one user decided to remove the Active X control for
Flash but leave the Flash Player installed. When he came back to
the page he was able to see the Flash content.
    1. Why can the Flash Content be viewed if the Active X is not
    available?
    2. Is the Active X just used in the installation of the Flash
    Player?
    Thanks.

What does that mean .. how can he remove the flash player
    leave it
    installed.. it makes no sense.
Unless, of course, he was using a browser other than IE (eg
    FireFox) which
uses the Flash Player control add-on (Firefox et al do not
    use ActiveX)

If you use a browser that does not use activex controls, then
    the presence
of the activex version of the player makes no difference.

    Flash Player?

  • Adobe Flash Player is installing SPYWARE! ... It is called "Google"

Upon turning my PC on today, I got the standard black pop-up window from  Adobe, advising that a new version of Flash Player was available for  download, which I agreed to do.
As the installer ran, I saw that Google Chrome was being installed  without my consent! After Flash player finished installing, I tried to  stop the "Google" installation, but couldn't!
I went directly to Control Panel and uninstalled Google Chrome before allowing the installer to finish its dirty work.
Well, the application detected this and and opened  Internet Explorer,  which I NEVER use and have Internet connection disabled through my  firewall.
This is playing dirty, Adobe! No- this isn't "playing" at all! This is illegal intrusion~ This is SPYWARE!
In the past, Adobe Flash player gave the chance to "opt out" of Google  Chrome (which we shouldn't HAVE to do), but now, we have NO CHOICE,  because Google has become WORSE than any spyware or virus! And that is   they now have the trust of the world.
Remember: Power corrupts... Absolute power corrupts absolutely!
Adobe, if you even care anymore, we are asking that you do something about this intrusion.
No one has the right to install programs without the consent of the owner of the devise. And you know it!
You guys think we have no power of choice and so can't do anything about this... That's what revolution is all about!

Just started installing Flash and clicked install as one normally does.  I noticed it started installing google so i quickly clicked cancel.
I have logged this in another thread and only afterwards spotted this one.
I have since restarted the install and now noticed the PRE-TICKED tickbox for Google installation.  I think that should be made illegal.
The company I work for deals with other large companies who use flash for online videos so unfortunately we need flahs installed.
I havn't updated flash for a while, but I now understand why I have had calls from users having difficulties using the internet as in every instance they had lost their well known microsoft explorer and coul dno longer find all the menu options and icons they were uised to.
I then have tpo de-install google and re-enable explorer for them.
Google's attitute is costing businesses money and I think they are on a fine line between promoting themselves and being common criminals.  They are not doing themseves any favors though, that's a fact!

  • Can Flash Player be installed on an external hard drive?

I have this game I am trying to install on an external hard drive that requires Flash Player and even though it is installed on my computer the game keeps popping up with Flash Player is required for this install. Would you like to install it now? Is there any way to install Flash Player on my external or get the game's installer to recognize it being on the hard drive. I don't want to install the game to my computer. Thanks for any help.

Flash Player is installed on the Windows system32 and syswo64 folders; it cannot be installed anywhere else.
What does that game require: the ActiveX control, or the plugin?  If in doubt, install both.

  • Flash Player 9 installed????

CONFUSED?? I have Flash Player 9 installed, and have checked
this out on this website (all fine!)..... When I try to get on some
websites, it tells me that I have Flash Player 9, but it will still
    not display the web page!?
    PLEASE HELP!?!

Similar problem -- but using IE7RC1 - no swf files would
play. Finally used the uninstaller for Version 9, found on Adobe
site, and all worked fine. Apparently Flash Player version 9 has
some issues with Microsoft (or is it the other way around) that
causes it to not work. If you go back to previous version of Flash
Player (the swf file I was trying to play was using version 7
something) you just may find that all is now well. I've posted on
the Microsoft IE7 site same findings since a lot of other people
out there seem to be having the same problem with Flash Player.
Hope this helps you fix the problem.

This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.
