Flash Player - Terminal Server/Remote Desktop

I am running Windows Server 2003. When I login directly as
administrator, I can install Flash Player from the Adobe website.
Then when I login via Remote Desktop as administrator, Flash Player
is detected and works in IE. However, when I login via Remote
Desktop as a regular user, Flash Player is not detected. I believe
the problem is that I have to install Flash Player from the Control
Panel->Add/Remote Program. To do this, I need a setup.exe file
for Flash Player. Do you know where I can one? Thanks in
advance.

Well I had the same issues and spent 3 days looking on the internet for solutions and trying many of them and nothing worked by itself. But when I took 3 of the solutions and mixed them together it work like a charm. Below is what I did to get my terminal server users able to use flash.
1.       Logon to the server as the local administrator or with an account with admin rights that does not map a home folder like H:. if your home folder is mapped it the installer will think windows directory is h:\windows instead of c:\windows. I used the local administrator account.
2.       Download the Adobe flash uninstaller from here http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
3.       Put it in a folder like c:\temp on the terminal server
4.       Open a command prompt and go the folder you saved the uninstall_flash_player.exe in
5.       At the prompt type uninstall_flash_player.exe /clean
6.       Click the Details button. If it lists any files as "Delete on reboot", then reboot now. Otherwise, just carry on.
7.       Download the latest Flash Player (10 in this instance) as a standalone version and save it to the hard drive/ network share. Get the standalone version 10 from here: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_playe r_10_active_x.exe
8.       Use the Control Panel Add/Remove programs method to install it. This ensures that the Windows install notification API triggers correctly (as opposed to executing change user /install in a command prompt).
9.       Use regedit and find the following 3 keys and do the same for all 3 keys: right click the key select permissions, select everyone and remove before clicking apply select the Advanced button and click the Replace permissions on all child objects, click Ok then Yes on the security window then Apply. Now Add everyone and click on Read then Advance button and click the Replace permissions on all child objects, click Ok then Yes on the security window then Ok. Now repeat on the next 2 keys. (By clicking Read then Advanced it selects a few other permissions so please do it this way)
a.       HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}
b.      HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D27CDB70-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}
c.       HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D27CDB6B-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
10.   I then logged off and logged on as a standard user and went to a site needing Flash and it worked.
11.   I then had some users try it without even logging out and it work for them.
This is what worked for me on all 3 of the 2003 Terminal Servers with IE7 needing Flash 10.
I hope this might help someone else as this has driven me up a wall…

  • Flash player terminal server Nomachine very slow firefox 3.0.3

    Hello all,
I have a serious problem which i cannot reolve by myself.
When using firefox 3.0.3 and flash 9.0.124 and 10 in a
terminal server environment with bandwidth limit to 320k firefox is
slowing down because of the limit in bandwidth.
The terminal server software caps the bandwidth usage because
we run an controlled internet environment for our business safety
and there are more then 3000 users logged in so the bandwith should
    be capped for performance reasons.
When i play a flash movie from youtube or visiting sites like
    http://www.derbauer.de then the
terminal server software just tels the software that it cannot
process that much bandwidth so the application slows down.
Now i have off course multiple options:
1 disabling flash (not very nice to users)
2 raise the limit (less users in our environment or more
    costs for extra hardware)
3 asking Nomachine to drop frames are do something fancy with
    it.
4 make an option in the flash plugin to say play this video
with only 1 frame per second
The last isn't very nice for people either but flash
applications still work only viewing flash video's is not as good
    as people want.
What are your thoughts on this?
    With kind regards
    William van de Velde

EDIT: Oh, and you have very little free RAM and lots of Page Outs. So, in fact, first thing to do is to simply restart and only have FF open and test.
First thing to do is to start FF in Safe Mode and see how it's working. This will temporarily disable all Add-ons and use a clean Profile. If it's running OK there, then it's time to look at your Add-ons to find a culprit, or start with a new clean Profile.
Hold down the Option (alt) key when opening FF.
You should also get rid of the steam clean thing. Those cleaning programs, if that's what this thing is, are dangerous and not needed.

  • Cannot delegate rights to Terminal Server (remote desktop) properties in ADUC

    Cheers!<o:p></o:p>
    I am trying
to provide a junior admin with rights to modify only the home drive and home
drive path setting on the terminal server tab in ADUC. <o:p></o:p>
    I have read
    through the discussion here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/91072599-65c0-4b40-bd8b-4aa5f2bc47f6/delegate-terminal-services-tab-permissions<o:p></o:p>
This discussion describes my issue exactly. I have tried using the ADUC delegation
wizard as explained in the post above as well as using the advanced ACL editor
to prescribe read write permissions to the specific terminal server properties.
With each approach the access seems to work as the input boxes are not greyed
out after I apply the rights, but when I go to apply the settings change it
gives an operation failed: access denied message.<o:p></o:p>
The article above is marked as answered, but there are comments posted later that show
others have the same failed result after following the steps. I will also note
that when I tested either approach (wizard or advanced ACL editor) with other
property setting tabs in ADUC I was successful. This shows that either approach
should work, but for some reason only the Terminal server properties seem to
have this behavior. This is an exception situation where the standard technique does not work under specific circumstances.
    This link
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/heyscriptingguy/archive/2008/10/23/how-can-i-edit-terminal-server-profiles-for-users-in-active-directory.aspx
talks about how the terminal server tab in ADUC was developed separately, and
therefore requires a special scripting technique to modify the TS settings.
This may be a clue as to why the behavior is different with the TS tab in ADUC.<o:p></o:p>
My environment is a mix of Win2k3 and Win2k8 servers with a domain functional
    level set to 2003.<o:p></o:p>
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your post.
When configuring administrative delegations for your Terminal Server environment, a logical starting point is creation of the four global domain security groups.

  • Terminal Server/Remote Desktop 2008 R2 Printing

I have a setup where I have a TS server (2008 R2) for clients to connect too.  The Client in question is a Win7 client and the Print Server is also a 2008 R2 server.
The Print Server has a "HP Universal Printing PCL 6" Driver for a "HP LaserJet 400 colorMFP M475dn" Printer.
The Win7 client is using MS Point and Print to connected to the print queue on the Print Server. The TS server then auto creates the printer in the user session.
Now, the user is printing a PowerPoint presentation with 4 pages.  On the top of each page is a banner type image, the rest of the page is text or Excel tables.
When printing in color the image at the top prints in color on each page but the rest prints in B&W.
To correct this we can edit the text box and it will print in color
    OR
We can add the same printer in the TS session pointing to the same print queue and all works fine.
I'm curious as to what the problem is and if I can better fix it so I can use auto-created printers instead of manually creating them.

    Hi,
Based on your description, firstly I want you to check by installing latest updated driver for your printer. In addition you can also check the printer properties settings, change the device type to color instead of default to see if it works. Refer
    this
    article for information.
Apart it seems issue mostly related to printer side, so you try to contact HP service center for further troubleshooting.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Address Book write LDAP server command via terminal or remote desktop

    Hi folks.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience issuing an 'address book' setting command, to ADD an LDAP entry, via terminal or remote desktop?
In particular, I want to "ADD" a new "LDAP" entry for a specific server, on 40 workstations, using terminal or remote desktop, so that I don't have to leave my desk
I recall that you can issue commands from the terminal, starting with "write"... to add such preferences.
    Any thoughts, ideas, or inspiration?
    Many thanks,
    Derek

    Hi,
As far as I know, We couldn't use Command Shell as you list to establish a Remote Desktop. You can use
mstsc /? command to view all mstsc.exe command parameter. We can use the command
mstsc [<connection file>] to establish a Remote Desktop Connection.
However, why did you want use command shell to establish a Remote Desktop? It would be more convenient using
mstsc [<connection file>] command to establish a Remote Desktop.
If you need further assistance on this particular issue or any other Windows related issue, let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

As I'm a Citrix virtualization engineer I'd like to have an official Statement from Adobe whether or not their products can be licensed and installed on either Citrix XenDesktop (formerly XenApp) Servers and/or virtual Desktops (VDI Environment). This questions Needs answering from both a licensing as well as technical Point of view. So please Adobe, share your knowledge with us.

  • I need windows 7 screensaver to activate after terminating a remote desktop session

I need windows 7 screensaver to activate after terminating a remote desktop session
Ok, so this one is slightly complex.
I have a monitor at work which needs to display company info via a screensaver set to scroll through a series of images. This is a pretty standard thing, but where my problem occurs is that the screensaver must be updated remotely each
day via Remote Desktop, and not by a local user sitting at the PC itself. This works on XP with a bit of hacking and playing with settings. But it won't work on W7.
Ok, so the XP setup first:
When terminating the remote session, on the XP machine the system looks here:
    C:\windows\system32\config\defaultprofile\administrator’s documents\administrator’s pictures
    OR
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\ administrator’s documents\administrator’s pictures
for the images to display during the screensaver, so I placed a shortcut to this folder (whichever one of the two it is on either of the two PCs i am doing this on; for some reason it isn't always the same path across all machines)
on the desktop and had the user place the images in there. I also do a small registry hack so that after a timeout of 60 seconds, the screensaver looked in this location, found the images, and displayed as you'd expect. It always looks here after a remote
session, and ignores the screensaver configured in the control panel UI, hance these stpes were necessary.
So, now the PCs are being upgraded to W7, but this isn't working. I think it's because on W7 the desktop isn't simply being locked when a remote session is started, the entire user is being logged off. Once the session is terminated,
the W7 PC sits at the login screen indefinitely and no screensaver ever displays.
Does anyone know a workaround here? Sorry for the overly complex explanation, and if it doesn't make sense I'd be happy to elaborate. Thanks.

    Hi,
Please see if the Screen saver timeout setting helps:

  • Can I use System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection in "Windows Server Remote Desktop Session Host" without buy the license ?

Can I use System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection in Azure Virtual Machine Gallary's "Windows Server Remote Desktop Session Host" without buy the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection license ?
I want to protect my Azure RemoteApp against the malware.
System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection installed Azure Virtual Machine Gallary's "Windows Server Remote Desktop Session Host".
Now, I try to build Azure RemoteApp template by using the  Azure Virtual Machine Gallary's "Windows Server Remote Desktop Session Host" .
    Regards,
    Yoshihiro Kawabata

    Hi Yoshihiro,
Unless and until Microsoft modifies the license terms for System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection and/or modifies the Online Services Terms (OST) and/or other document explicitly saying that use is included with the Azure RemoteApp (ARA) monthly
fee I recommend you assume as that it is
not included and license it separately for ARA if that is even possible, which is a separate question.
For licensing it is best to be cautious and make decisions based on the official documents that are available that govern use of the software and services involved.  At this moment I'm not able to find a Microsoft document that grants use of System
Center 2012 Endpoint Protection with Azure RemoteApp.
When I first used the gallery template and noticed that Endpoint Protection was installed within it I had the same question as you.  I will update this thread if/when I obtain more information.

  • Bandwith Problem with Flashes over Terminal Server

I get huge problems with viewing flash on Citrix Terminal
Server. Everytime a user opens up a website with Flashes in it, it
consumes the rest off the bandwith. This slows down all other user
on the site. This happens over RDP and ICA Connection. Microsoft
dont want to have a solution for this problem. they know it but...
. The same ist for Citrix. I hope that Adobe can give me an
acceptable solution. What can i do, to tune up Flashes over the
    Terminal Server?
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • How to make the iPad camera accessible in a Microsoft Terminal Server Virtual Desktop?

We have a Microsoft Terminal Server farm which we're using to host virtual desktops. We can connect to it and use it fine for most of our purposes using any of the standard RDP clients out there but none of them appear to enable us to access the iPad camera (either) from within the virtual desktop on the terminal server e.g. passthrough via a virtual channel. Audio - check, printers - check,.. camera: not so much....  Anyone have any tips / experience setting this up or is this just technically not possible with the setup we've got?

Oh, my god!  I'm so embarrassed that I couldn't figure this out myself, after being a devoted Mac user for three decades!  It's so obvious!  Thank you so much!

  • Why doesn't Flash Player install on my desktop?

It all began with Windows Live mail which - all of a sudden - didn't load and I was advised to download Flash Player which already was in my desktop PC.After having removed the old version I downloaded the new version of Flash Player and got McAffee as a bonus beside. McAffee loaded rapidly but Flash Player seemed to load - the green colored line was full but the program was still loading for at least half an hour which has to be wrong.
I'm running XP Home SP3 32 bits on a flat screen and use IE version 8.0  128 bits.
Hoping for help from anyone and please, explain in very understandable words.

Noticed today after updating my flash player to 10.2.152.32 that my screen started flickering when switching among videos on youtube and elsewhere. I uninstalled latest version and re-installed previous version 10.2.152.26 and problem went away. I wonder if future udates have this problem fixed. For the Japanese, regardless of whether you choose option one or two, you are required you to pay the entire balance on your credit card each month. A charge card has to be paid off in full every month, a credit card doesn’t – the author seems to be using the two terms interchangeably, which they are not. The cashier recounted to me in Japanese each item she rang up, not that I understood what she was saying. Obviously she realized this because when it came time to announce the total, she smiled politely and turned the display around for me to see the price. I handed her my credit card.

  • Windows 2012 Server Remote Desktop Virtualization + Linux Clients

    Hello!
I wonder if anyone could shed a little light on this.
We want to implement a Windows 2012 Server with Remote Desktop Virtualization for our office, which has around 12 users. Our company has its core apps developed in VB6.0, and those apps use MySQL as their database. We want clients to run Linux, which will
have no other function than to connect and to Windows 2012 Server and display the remote session. Users need to work as usual, as they would in a local version of a Windows Desktop.
Can this be done? If yes, is the Standard version of Windows 2012 Server the best to accomplish this?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Add to Tim, you need to acquire CALs for every user (About 12 in your case).
Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses (RDS CALs)
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753650.aspx
Client Access Licenses and Management Licenses
    http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/about-licensing/client-access-license.aspx
In addition, although AD is recommended, you can run RDS in a workgroup.
Regarding how to setup RDS on a single server, you can refer to the following:
