Flash Player - Windows 2003 Terminal Services

We have terminal services users that are unable to use the Adobe Flash Player in their web browser. They keep getting the prompt that they need it.  The administrator can view it even in terminal mode.  I have done the user install, Add/Remove Programs option, changed the Registry keys to allow everyone read permissions and even full on the hkey classes root.  It appears that new users that connect can view Flash correctly but existing users that already had profiles can't still.  Any other ideas? Thanks for the help.

Did you ever get a resolution to your issue?  I have the same issue
.  I have tried following these steps

but the registry keys are different for Flash Player 10.  I cannot find the correct key for version 10.

I have windows terminal services 2003 and internet explorer 8.  Flash 10 has been installed and runs fine on any account that is in the administrator group.  But all my normal users get this error when trying to view a page with flash:  "You must have administrative privileges to install Adobe Flash Player ActiveX".  I have tried multiple tips but have yet to get this to work for a normal user.  Any ideas before I go crazy?

  • Crystal Reports 2008 crashes in Windows 2003 terminal Services Session

    Hi,
We installed Crystal Reports Server and Crystal Reports 2008 on a new Windows 2003 Small Business Server. Crystal Reports works when run at the physical console, but when accessed from Remote Desktop it crashes to the debugger when I try to:
    a) open an existing working report that uses SQL Server 2005 parameterized stored procedure,
    b) create a new report using any SQL Server 2005 parameterized stored procedure,
    c) access help.
All the above work fine at the physical server but I need to access remotely using RDC.
I log in as administrator, I have tried turning off DEP and I am running RDC via the mstsc command both without and with the  /admin switch to run in session 0 but there is still a difference between being at the physical console versus remote that CR does not like.
More: I have to drive a long way to get to the server to try things locally.  For now, as a workaround, I have started crw32.exe at the physical server and I can use that when I log in via RDC - I just cannot start crw32.exe remotely and run it successfully. Also, when I do run remotely, I get the entire menu bar on startup with no start page, but running at physical server I get only the File, View and Help menus but I do get the Start page.
    Any ideas?

  • Transition from Windows 2003 Terminal Sever to Mac Server

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.
We currently have a Windows 2003 terminal server hosted remotely, it's only function is to serve Quickbooks enterprise and to store documents, with a maximum of 8 simutaneous connections.
We would like to eliminate this service and do everything in-house with a Mac server. All of our 8 employees are now on Mac.
Here is my question: What would the ideal setup be? The problem is that Quickbooks is a Windows version. The Mac version is not as robust as we need so we need to stay with the Windows version.
Do we install Quickbooks on a virtual install of Windows on the Mac server using terminal service? Or should we install Quickbooks on each users Mac with virtual Windows and every file save, saved to the server without a windows install?
    Thanks again for any advise!

The quick answer is to move the server to you location. Now I am sure that statement alone will generate all kinds of responses. So I will attempt to explain my position:
    1. Running QBE on a virtual server on a Windows system is not eagerly supported by Intuit much less running it on a virtual system on a Mac.
    2. The Ideal setup would be to have QBE running on a Windows Server (that you own and control) and continue to access it via RDP.
Do we install Quickbooks on a virtual install of Windows on the Mac server using terminal service? Or should we install Quickbooks on each users Mac with virtual Windows and every file save, saved to the server without a windows install?
    3. Unfortunately QBE is not designed to work in that manner – both QBE and QB require a ‘QuickBooks’ data server this in turn requires a Windows box of some type. Also are you using the SQL Version of QBE as this will also impact which way you should go.
    4. Though you could install Windows on all your Macs the cost to do so would be more that purchasing a Windows Server and managing it yourself.
    - $80 ea for Parallels $640
    - $299 ea for Windows XP $2392
I did not include Windows Server /w TS CALs as you will need to purchase this regardless which method you select – though purchasing Windows with a server is considerably cheaper than buying retail.
Finally I can understand your desire to work in a homogonous environment, though I am concerned that the amount of time required getting QBE running within a virtual environment be it Windows or Mac and installing Windows on your Macs may consume more time than you may be able to take away from your business.

  • Windows 2003 Terminal Server, ZEN 7, and WSUS

    Hi,
We're having a problem getting a group policy to "Stick" in Windows 2003
terminal server. The server(s) have the ZEN 7.01 agent installed per
the TID's for a terminal server. We believe we've set all the Group
Policies of the users that login to these systems, yet once they are
rebooted, the WSUS update server location resets to the default
(update.microsoft.com). This is set in gpedit in:
    \computer configuration\administrative templates\Windows
    Components\Windows Update
Is this settable in a user package, or should this be done in a
workstation package? If so, could we "force" the workstation package to
override the Windows Update settings for all users, regardless of what
    user policy package they have?
    Thanks for any ideas!
    Greg

In the Properties of the WS Group Policy, there is an option to set "Loop
Back" so that the Computer GPO is set last.

  • I dream of running Dreamweaver on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server

I have a "volume" license and attempted to install Dreamweaver CS4 on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server.  I get an error message right away indicating that the system does not meet the minimum install requirements, ie XP/Vista.
Adobe volume licensing team verified that it is the correct license for installing on a terminal server, but after one hour of what would a bad nightmare with adobe "no" support (Outsourcing issue, failure to grasp and process the basic error message) I got no where and am having to resort to the forums.  I have googled on this and got no where and nothing on the search efforts on this site.
If anyone has an idea of what is going on, bug, wrong install media, please clue me in.
    Thanks!

    pziecina
Thanks for the information.  We do have AppV here and tried that approach.  While this gets us past the install minimum requirements, it does not resolve the issue of running of more than one instance at a time, per terminal server, even though our volume license allows for it.

  • Flash Player - Windows 7 - 2 Processes in Windows Task Manager - Slowing performance?

Hello...I was hoping someone could help me fix this issue.  I live on my computer for work so this affects me daily and has for many, many, many months.  Firefox works great until Flash Player launches and then everything I do in my browser slows down to a speed similar to a turtle in a chess match.  When I go into the Windows Task Manager to close the Flash Player process so I can, for example, browse a text-only page or fill out a discussion question form on Adobe's forum page without 5 to 10 second delays between instructions (moving the mouse, clicking on something in the browser, typing etc.), I find not one but two processes in the Windows Task Manager. I assume there should only be 1 process and was wondering if it was something I could fix on my machine somewhere other than doing it 15 times a day using Windows Task Manager to stop the process(es) so my machine will work properly.
I highly suspect it is the Flash Player that causes the issue as every single time I kill the process, my machine works like it is supposed to (fast etc.).  As soon as the Flash Player Plugin process(es) starts everything comes to a crawl.  Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how to fix it?  I use the latest version of Firefox, the latest version of Flash Player, Windows 7 Professional (latest updates installed), I eat right, get good sleep, give to charity, and love my mom.  What am I doing wrong?          Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hello Chris and Sameer,
thank you for getting back on this issue.
    To answer your questions first:
    - no, I have not posted this issue in the connect forums - I will do and point to this discussion
    - Sameer, I have tested the webcam on the website you pointed out, it is not working with Firefox but it is working in Chrome
I also need to give you an update on the current versions I use:
Win 7 Pro (64bit) (all updates included)
    Firefox 21.0
    IE 10.0.9200.16576
    Chrome  26.0.1410.64 m
    Flash Player 11.7.700.202
    Adobe Connect Addin 11.2 r261
I tested the webcam via FP with Firefox, IE and Chrome in the versions mentioned above. Only in Chrome I can run the WebCam on the www.testwebcam.com website. Once I start the adobe connect meeting and want to start the webcam the Connect Addin stops working with the popup as shown in post 3 of this discussion in all three browsers.
All components have been uninstalled and installed again (except for IE)  for testing with no change in the result. I have also rolled back the computer to the system recovery point furthest back in time to see if any other installation might be the cause. But no luck either.
I am happy to post the logs but would need advise where to find these or how to retrieve.
    Thanks!

  • Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 2 for product version 4.0.1.0.03

    Hi Experts,
A customer wants to know if there Are any known issues with applying Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 2 for product version 4.0.1.0.03 .
i gave him the answer that SP2 is not tested for that version hence it is not supprted. So he now asks me if Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 1 is supported for 4.0.1.0.03 , Any input would be of great help.

    Hi,
Be careful when you say SP2 is not supported.
Hyperion s policy in terms of third party products was the following (I would imagine this should remain the same with Oracle, however you may want to check with your local support team):
Hyperion products are tested against the versions specified in the product matrices. They do not actively look for issues in maintenance releases or service pack upgrades from 3rd party vendors for obvious reasons (there would be far too many). They will investigate any maintenance release or service pack upgrades as long as the vendor confirms backward compatibility.
Therefore SP2 would be supported with 4.0.1 and Hyperion/Oracle should investigate any issues you may encounter.
However keep in mind that if a specific issue you have encountered in 4.0.1 is caused by SP2 but fixed in a later version then Oracle's recommendation will be to upgrade.
So its a catch 22 situation really.
Personally I would take this opportunity to recommend an upgrade to 9.3.1 ;-)
    Hope this helps.

  • HT5390 is it possible to use windows RDP (terminal services) to remote into an apple server?

is it possible to use windows RDP (terminal services) to remote into an apple server?

    corydchurch wrote:

In the Windows world you can use RDP to remotely control a (Windows) server for administration purposes. You can also use RDP to connect to a Windows Terminal Server to run user applications on the server and multiple users can do this at the same time.
It is not possible to use RDP to remotely control a Mac server for administration purposes. You can however use Screen Sharing or VNC (if enabled) or install some other software like TImbuktu Pro to allow the same sort of thing. None of these use the RDP protocol. If your are a mainly or all Mac environment you would use Screen Sharing (Apple's custom version of VNC). You can get Windows versions of VNC and Timbuktu Pro which would therefore allow a Windows machine to remote control the Mac server.
It is however possible to buy and install a Mac Terminal server solution to allow multiple users to connect and run applications on the Mac server just like a Windows Terminal Server solution except as it is running on a Mac server it will allow running Mac applications rather than Windows applications. This is not for remote controlling the server. There are two such packages for the Mac these being AquaConnect and iRAPP. These can run their own proprietary protocol or they can also allow users to connect via the RDP protocol. This does therefore allow a Mac or Windows user to connect to the Mac Terminal Server and run Mac applications.

  • Problems upgrading to Flash player v11 on Windows 2003 Terminal Server

    Hello
I am trying to upgrade several Windows 2003 32-bit terminal servers, v5.2 to Flash IE plugin version 11.1.102.63.  This has not worked on the first two servers that I tried, and subsequently I have been concentrating my testing on just one of them.  The version on the servers prior to the attempted upgrade was 10.3.181.14.
On each occasion that I attempt the upgrade, the executable initially runs, but then does nothing.  The running process is visible in Task Manager, using no processing resource, and around 18MB of memory.  Unless I kill the process manually, it will sit like this indefinitely.  If I attempt the install again, I get a message informing me that only one instance of the process can run.
I have tried rebooting the server, I have tried running the install in terminal server install mode, I have tried uninstalling the previous version, I have tried re-installing the previous version (which works fine).  For some reason, this particular version will not run.
Any suggestions as to the next step would be very gratefully received.
    Thanks in advance.

How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?

  • Flash Player 11_8_800_94 on Terminal Server

    Hi
I have a problem with the newest Version of Flash Player on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server.
I have installed Flash as Administrator with "change user /install". Everything works fine as Administrator but as a normal User with User Rights I can not see Flash in the Plugins.
I found thousands of articels with older Versions but nothing helped me.
    Windows Server 2008 R2  64 bit
    IE 9
    Flash Player 11_8_800_94
    Has someone a Idea?
    Thanks
    Werrner

If you open Internet Explorer - In the menue "Extras" - "Manage Plugins"
Normally her are all installed Plugins listed. As Administrator I can see the "Shockwave Flash Object" and "Shockwave ActiveX Control". If I log on with a account which has only User rights this Plugins are not listed.
If I open "www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/" in the IE it works as Administrator. As User it likes to install the Flash player again.
I think that some Security settings in the Registry are wrong but I don't know which one.
    Thanks

  • New create desktop shortcut GPO is causing 1030 and 1058 errors on a Windows 2003 terminal server

Primary DC: Win2012.  BDC: Win2008. Clients: Win7, Win8.1.  Maintaining an old Win2003 terminal server to run legacy software.
Everything works fine for a look time until I added a new GPO to create a desktop shortcut on the client machines, Windows 2003 runs into Error 1030 (Cannot query list of GPO) and Error 1058 (Cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO, The system cannot find
the path specified) GP processing aborted).
Tried changing the GPO to target Win7 and 8.1 only.  Tried creating shortcut using Computer Config settings only as well as User Config settings only.  Deleting the GPO and creating it from scratch.  Nothing works, as soon as GPO is in place,
it disables the Win2003 from processing any other GPO.
No issue with the client machines or other Windows servers.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Roget Luo

    Hi Roget,
    Thanks for posting here.
Error 1030 and 1058 could be caused by many aspects.
Firstly, please run the command dcdiag on the command prompt of a DC to check if there are any error.
Secondly, make sure the DFS service is started on the domain controller, and set the Startup type to automatic.
What's more, make sure the TCP/IP Helper service  is started on the domain co, set it to Automatic and started it.

  • Installing Flash Player  Windows XP

Flash Player won't finish installing until I close svchost. The problem is that there is nothing left to close. Nothing to pull up and close. What is svchost and how do I close It?

Svchost is what manages running services on your computer. Usually there are several instances of it running. Shutting enough of them down will lock your OS up and then you have no choice but to "pull the plug out of the wall" to even shut the PC down.
Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by right clicking one (or both) of the following links. Choose "Save target as" (IE) or "Save link as" (Other browsers).
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Reboot, so nothing but Windows is running. THEN go to your downloads folder and double click the appropriate installer to run it.
