Flash Project files (FLP)

Hello. I can't seem to figure something out and was wondering
if someone could explain this to me. I use a Flash Project (flp)
for version control of my flash projects. One curious/strange thing
seems to happen when I check in my files using the flp.
When I check in a file the "date modified" on my local copy
changes to be 5 hrs ahead of when it was actually modified. Only
happens when I check a file in using the flp. I have checked all
the times for both my local computer and the server where I place
the checked in file and they are in sync. Don't know what else
could be causing this.
Has this happened to anyone else and is there a solution?
Thanks in advance!

I think it stands for "Flash Project," but not sure. The FLP
is just a
small file that stores the locations of the various other
files that belong
to the project. Think of it as an M3U playlist.

  • Converting cs3 Flash Project ( .flp ) to cs4 Flash Project

    hello;
    I have attempted to convert an old .flp to the new system, according to Flash Help instructions; but when I do, the new converted Project is nothing more than navigation-panel of the directory that contains the project ( .flp );
    old .flp's were not directories, but collections of pertinent files, in a relational tree structure that I put together for ease of authoring, such as a bunch of .as files and a few .fla files that might be associated with one_module of a larger app , where...
    some of those .as files might be coming from my papervision directory,
    some from my personal as3 library,
    and some from a local_directory
    thus I have .as files coming from distant places on my computer, and a .flp allows me to put those pertinent .as files into one quick collection; an old .flp might look like:
    my_project
    - module_1
    -- A.as ... located in C://.../.../..././//././././/./../././../?
    -- B.as ... located in C://../../.././../././././././././.../...//./../?
    -- C.as ... located in the same directory as the .flp
    -- A.fla
    - module_2
    -- A.as
    -- D.as
    -- E.as
    -- F.as
    - generic_stuff
    according to the new approach ( as I currently understand it )  an entire directory structure(s) - with all the crap that gets dropped into directories while building an app - is the definitive aspect of a Project; furthermore if there are files that are not included in that directory that I want included in the Project, I will have to also include the entire directory that includes that file ... when all is said and done my Project will consist of 30% of all of the crap that is on my computer ... I only wanted 15 or 20 files;
    consider:
    project_root_dir/sub_dir_A/sub_dir_B/sub_dir_C/pertinent_file.fla
    project_root_dir/sub_dir_A/sub_dir_B/sub_dir_C/non-pertinent_readme.txt
    now if I want to quickly open pertinent_file.fla, I have to use the Project panel to navigate down through 3 directories ... but I do that using Windows, so the Project panel has not really helped me;
    and I surely do not want a bunch of clutter, like a readme.txt, included in a project, though I do want that readme in the directory on my computer ... but not in the Project;
    am I missing something?
    thanks,

  • Extracting resourse like .ai & png files from a flash project

    Hi! I have been assined the task of extracting the images from old flash projects and am having a devil of a time doing so.
    There are lots of programs that you can extract info out of the swf files, but these don't give you the original .ai Ilustrator files that may have been used to create the presentation with, or png files with transparent backgrounds.
    Is there a plug-in in Flash that allows you to capture these items in the document?  when I drag the item from the library (lets say a .ai file) to the stage and right click and copy it, it only gives me part of the item when I paste it back into illustrator... and when I drag the PNG resource to photoshop I get it with a background I do not want.
    any help on this would be great!!!!
    I have both cs3 and cs4 so a solution in either one would be great!

    Well that is kinda what I've been doing, only its not quite that simple as doing it that way makes an image of what is on the entire stage.  What I have to do is create a new project copy over all my library items to the new project, and pull over each one individually and do it that way.... if you have a lot of items in your library (which I do a lot of times since these contain a lot of animation sequenced into individual frames) this process can be quite tedious.  Yes you can save out to .ai illustrator files this way as well.
    I was hoping for something a little more... automatic or at least where I don't have to drop each item individually on a stage, reposition, ect...
    But yes, the previous post is one way of doing it with some fooling around with.

  • Embedding YouTube file in flash project

    Hi guys,
    Could someone please advise me how to embed a YouTube video file in particular place of my Flash project, should I do this in action panel or in final html file.
    Here is exactly what I'd like to do: On this website www.aye-aye-media.com under 'Film' panel I have some movie samples, and after clicking buttons on right side I'd like to play embedded YouTube clips instead of flv.samples uploaded to my ftp. as it takes too long for customers to download them
    Thank you in advance

    ok, so, is it too difficult or too easy to do what I want?

  • Someone help! Flex Developer trying to repurpose a Flash project.. AS file placement?

    Hi everyone,
    I'm repurposing a Flash Project and received the source files not all together.
    I've found the correct file paths to place the class(.as) files for all but one..
    I get a compiler error...
    1061: Call to a possibly undefined method setOpenUpwards through a reference with static type fl.controls:ComboBox.
    Where should I place the ComboBox.as file?
    My import code is in place..
    import fl.controls.ComboBox;
    I don't see any fl.controls filepath in my project folder...
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    DK

    Okay, looks like I just needed to place the ComboBox.as inside the folders in a directory path like fl>controls>ComboBox.as.
    For some reason, I thought the fl package was a built in package for Flash and therefore you couldn't access it because that part of the code is not editable.

  • Help! understand cs4 flash "Project"

    Ok, In cs3 flash project was nice it did what i needed but
    now it seems to take more time. the reason may be I'm not using it
    for the reason usually used so new operations and features where
    not geared to my usage. sorry for any spelling problems or
    miss-usage of words.
    How I use project. I use it to batch publish 10-100 files
    while i go get a coffee.
    so why am i writing this.
    the cs4 version dose some things that i hope someone knows a
    way around.
    1. so i have my project file and all my flash files open(open
    in project not open as a document) and now i have to check off each
    10-100 files i want to publish. waist of time. i understand why its
    done but anyone know a check all function?
    2. in cs3 fash would hide the publishing visualy from me and
    just output the file name to an output window when completed. in
    cs4 it opens the file publishes and closes it then moves to the
    next one. why? i don't need to see this and i feel its slowing the
    process. is it?
    3. ok side note cause i just dont know if its possible but is
    there a way to override the publish settings for all the files to
    follow one set way. example say i have 3 flies in the publish
    settings file A says publish a jpeg and a swf, file B says publish
    a mov and file C says publish a gif to a different location say my
    desktop not the folder its in like the others. ok, now is there a
    way to make them say publish as just a swf(or whatever) to say a
    new empty folder named say new folder on the desktop. basically
    overriding the publish settings.
    ok thanks for any help and making my day shorter. if you know
    of anything that might be easer please post

  • Best practice for putting together scenes in a Flash project?

    Hi, I'm currently working on a flash project with the following characteristics:
    using a PC
    2048x1080 pixels
    30 fps
    One audio file that plays (once) continuously across the whole project
    there are actions that relate to the audio, so the timing is important
    at least 10 scenes
    about 7 minutes long total
    current intent is for it to be played in a modern theater as a surprise
    What is the best practice for working on this project and then compiling it together?
    Do it all in one project file?
    Split the work into different project (xfl) files for each scene and then put it together when all the scenes are finalized?
    Use one project file but create different "scenes" for each respective scene?  I think this is the "classic" way (?).
    Make the scenes "movie clips" and then insert them into the timeline with the audio as its own layer?
    Other?
    I'm currently working on it by having it all in one project file.  But I've noticed that there's some lag (or it gets choppy) at certain parts during playback and the SWF history shows 3.1 MB with a yellow triangle with exclamation point symbol.  Thanks in advance.

    you would only do that if it makes your job easier.  generally speaking, it would not.
    when trying to sync sound and animation i think most authors find it easiest to use graphic symbols because you can see their animation when scrubbing the main timeline.  with movieclips you only see their animation when testing.
    however, if you're going to use actionscript to control some of your symbols, those symbols should be movieclips.

  • How to export a flash project with a changing frame rate to a video

    I have a Flash project that is a series of roughly 1000 images.  The result of the images is a simple animation, and there is music imported on a separate layer.
    There are moments in the music that I wanted to line up with certain frame changes, and there are sections of the music that I wanted to match up with a faster (double-time) frame rate.
    I used this code in several places in the a code layer:
    stage.frameRate = x;
    The result is exactly what I want in SWF -- the animation speeds up and slows down at the exact right moments to match up with the music track, but it seems like it's just not possible to export this variable frame rate project to a video file?
    According to the accepted answer on this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4019538, it seems that:
    The export function in Flash Pro doesn't transcribe *frames*, rather it plays the Flash animation and records it like a camcorder
    If that's true, then I would think there is a way to record a variable frame rate project into a video -- does anybody know if this is possible?

    That or Premiere would both get the job done. After Effects might be more desirable as it has a feature called Time Remapping (right-click on the video layer, Time->Enable Time Remapping). You can add keyframes to any point in a video and then drag them around to speed up or slow down the video. That'll allow for very precise tweaks.
    Finally all I'd suggest is when you jump into your next project, make a quick dummy test project to see if the software you're using is easily capable of producing what you want. It'll solve the headache of completing the project only to land where you are now. Now you know Flash won't play nicely with scripts and Export Movie. If your desired end result was always a video I'd probably use video editing software to make the video. There's some free stuff out there if you really look, but no, it won't be as nice as After Effects or Premiere by any stretch. Although when you see how amazing After Effects is, you'll probably want to buy it .

    I have read the forum link and other such entries in this forum. I have found the following:
    1.) JFlash - a java based flash player. https://jflash.dev.java.net/
    Could'nt find the app or the official site
    2.) a few projects on sourceforge.org :
    java flash bridge where you embed the flash inside an Integrated Browser Component
    3.) SWT Flash integration.
    I do not find any of these solutions satisfactory.except the SWT/Flash integration which I havent tried.
    My question is that isnt there an easier and simpler way to :
    Embed Flash into Swing app where actionscript and java can communicate.
    I am aware of Remoting and web services. But It is a desktop app I am talking about.
    Can anyone suggest anything?

  • Importing existing flash video files??

    howdy
    quick question. if you import existing flash video files into an encore project, will this help reduce the final render time? or will encore rerender the existing flash video files?
    cheers
    angus

    Encore CS3 won't import FLV files. You must render the project to Flash.
    You may want to file a feature request at Adobe's support page asking for support for Flash-ready assets, to eliminate the need to transcode in Encore.

  • Can you encrypt a flash .as file?

    I would like to know if there is any way to encrypt a flash

    I'd like to share my insights with you guys...
    In general they can if you'll not take any actions to prevent
    it. For
    example this tool (
    http://home.flashdig.com)
    being a SWF editor, also
    allows to protect any script without backward restoring.
    Usual SWF
    decompilers do not restore such protected script too. Of
    course, it is
    possible to investigate the SWF "under a microscope" :) and
    find this
    script manually. But it will be very dificult to do it in a
    big SWF
    file.
    Another trick I ever saw was to use encryptor like RC4 or RC5
    and
    encrypt all your operators (do it somewhere outside of your
    Flash
    project) and then use a scheme like this:
    //crypt string
    cs = "qwertyasdfghjkl";
    var cr = new ascrypt_RC4();
    // here "blablabla1" is a result
    // of encryption for "loadMovie" string
    var lm = cr.decrypt('blablabla1', cs);
    // here "blablabla2" is a result
    // of encryption for "
    http://..." string
    var u = cr.decrypt('blablabla2', cs);
    // here "blablabla3" is a result
    // of encryption for "this" string
    var t = cr.decrypt('blablabla3', cs);
    t = eval(t); // getting "this" reference
    // here is our encrypted action
    t[lm](u); // it means "this.loadMovie(url)";
    Doing that we achieve a result, when none of our meaningful
    constants
    (like URL's) as well as usual instructions will be ever seen
    even if
    SWF will be decompiled. Now let's imagin, that we're using
    FLV
    streaming and receive decryption key in the onMeta() data of
    the FLV.
    In this case decryption key will not be seen to the user,
    because it
    is not saved on the client computer. Of course, user can try
    to stream
    your FLV through a third-party client or hack the Flash
    Player and get
    the onMeta() structure. but you can prevent FLV streaming
    without
    preliminary user authorization. And don't forget to change
    the locks
    on your door frequently enough :)
    Of course, you must have some knowledges about how AS
    interpreter
    works to write scripts like above. You must distinguish
    variables
    themself and their names. It's vital here.
    HTH!

  • Can I link multiple project files together?

    I'd like to link multiple project files together so that they will play one after another. Can you do that in Captivate?

    Hey Leslie,
    Yes, you can create several projects in Captivate and publish them as Flash (SWF) format. There is an aggregator project in Captivate where in you can combine all these published projects (SWF) into a single output.
    Do you have any other requirement as well?

  • Please help me - cannot publish my flash project

    Hi
    I'm new to flash mx 2004 and I'm having a problem publishing and playing my finished project. Every time I try to play or publish the project I get a 'The Flash program is out of memory. Please increase virtual memory on your PC' message. I was originally working on a 1 gig RAM PC and thought this was the problem. I've since borrowed a 2 GIG RAM PC which allowed me to do a little bit more work before I got the same problem. I then got a 4 GIG PC and was able to finish the project but if I try to play it or publish it the program crashes. Any Ideas. This is a college project which I need to publish as a windows exe file and I can't do it. I don't know what's wrong. The project is about 280 meg in size. I tried to 'save and compact' but it still crashes. I also tried to debug the flash project and it crashed again. I'm baffled as I think a 4 GIG PC should be ample and I no longer think that this is entirely a RAM problem anyway. Please any suggestions would be appreciated

    More goes into compilation than the RAM size, indeed.
    Is the file size you mention (280 MB) the size of the SWF or the size of the FLA?
    If it is the size of the SWF, then it is likely that your FLA is at least double that, and - while running in the OS, is likely taking upwards of 1GB of the available RAM.  The OS is using this RAM also, as well as any other processes that are running on the computer.
    I would say that your best choice, at this point, is to break the project into multiple smaller flash files, that will compile easier and run faster in the completed state.
