Flash SWF AFX    Play vs Static

I have a bunch of Flash files with varying lengths of timeline.
I export them as SWF files then import into AFX.
Usually they wont play the animation and just come in as a static images.
However sometimes they DO play.
Does anyone know how to make sure a SWF file will play its animation in entirety in AFX. I would like to be able to import them like quicktimes and then edit the footage but right now I can't usually get them to play.

I hsve the same exact problem...
did yo find the answer?

    When HTML is in webroot and calls flash from
    Flash_video/Homepage/Scroll/
    the flash will appear is if it was in the webroot directory.
    It will always seek files it loads from HTML location, not
    it's original
    location.
    You must be mindful of that while authoring your movies and
    the paths need
    to be adjusted accordingly.
    In your case whatever flash loads it can no longer refer to
    it by file name
    but Flash_video/Homepage/Scroll/filename.swf

  • Flash Video wont play in Dreamweaver/html

    so strange, i have spent hours on this.
    I can get a wmv file to play in dreamweaver (embed-plug in).
    But I cannot get a flash .swf to play.
    I have gone through quite a few tutorials, and still no luck.
    Ive done the import into flash, convert to swf, publish,
    and then insert Flash Movie in dreamweaver. I get the
    green/white scrollbar, but it wont play.
    Any ideas would be so helpful, this is my last thing to try
    and figure out on my wedding website.

  • Flash video wont play until fully buffered

    Some flash videos, like ones from blip.com wont play until fully buffered but Youtube and other flash based sites work just fine.  The ads will play, but when they are done it will just be a buffering wheel until it is 100%, then it works like normal.I have tried; reinstalling flash, different browsers (chrome, Firefox, IE), reinstalling browsers, disabling all extensions/plugin, disabling anti virus, but nothing seems to work.    When the same video is played in windows safe mode, they work just fine, so its something else running

  • SWF created in CS4 Flash does not play from web server

    I published a Flash movie in CS4, which includes the following ActionScript 3.0 code to allow people to click the movie to open a new web page; but it will not play from the web server...however, it plays just fine from my local hard drive in Firefox and IE 7.
    It  is an html file with an embedded .swf and I made sure to copy over the  swfObject.js, AC_ActvieX.js, AC_RunActiveContent.js, expressInstall.swf, and  swfobject_modified.js files to the correct directories.  The address is: http://www.giseldemarco.com/introduction.html and as you will see,  there are no errors...just a blank page.  I even tried changing the script  from:
    <script  type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    swfobject.registerObject("FlashID");
    //-->
    </script>
    to  this script:  <script type="text/javascript"  src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/swfobject/2.2/swfobject.js"></script>, but using this script generates a lot of CSS and other errors.
    Nothing  works.  The ActionScript code I used is:
    //Link to website
    Site_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,visitSite);
    function visitSite(e:MouseEvent):void{
        var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://giseldemarco.com/Home/Index.html");
        navigateToURL(req,"_parent");
    I am at a loss here...any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you.

    Nothing new... Flash developers fall for this all the time...

  • Playing Flash SWF in Director 11

    I created a simple navigation slide type show in Flash CS3
    and tried to use it in a portfolio that I'm creating in Director
    11. I imported the Flash SWF into Director and when I go to the
    file it plays automatically and keeps looping; my navigation
    buttons and actionscript 3.0 that I applied in Flash do not work
    (they do work in the SWF file played with Flash Player 9). I assume
    that I need a sprite script for my SWF cast member in Director, but
    I haven't got a clue as to what to script. I learned Director about
    12 yrs. ago, but haven't used it much since then . . . and I've
    just learned Flash CS3.
    PLEASE HELP . . .
    Thanks

    Thanks for the tip, Dan! Now, I've got to ask . . . how
    different is AS2 from AS3? I don't know AS3 good enough to convert
    it to AS2. Where might I find some help for my AS3 script?
    Thanks

  • Flash SWF file not playing as HTML snippet!?

    Any Flash gurus out there? I'm trying to get a SWF flash file to play as a HTML snippet but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm using Artotems Flash code within the snippet. The SWF file was encoded using Flash v9.0 and it plays on it's own when I open it the file directly from a web browser. However, when it's referenced from my website through iWeb nothing shows up!? Any ideas? Here's a screenshot of the code I'm using. Maybe you gurus can tell me if my syntax is incorrect?

    You're not using the full URL to the file.
    You have "/Media/knowledgereignssupreme.flv" in both instances where it should be...
    "http://www.websitename.com/Media/knowledgereignssupreme.flv"
    You can also open it with a simple iFrame code like at the bottom of this page......

  • My Flash SWF file inside of my Flash Catalyst SWF won't play when previewed in Dreamweaver?

    However, when I preview the flash catalyst swf file, the flash swf thats inside, plays just fine. any suggestions or solutions?

    Does the one swf load the other swf?  If so, is the one swf in the same folder as the html file that embeds it?

  • Flash player not playing .swfs - launching Flash Pro

    Hey folks.
    I'm running Windows 7. Previously, when double-clicked to open and view .swf files, they would open and play flawlessly. Now, It launches Flash Pro to play the .swf's - just like as if I were using a Mac.
    This has only been happening since I installed CS5. Any idea what to do? I tried doing a right-click - open with - to set a default program but I don't see Flash Player as it is installed on my computer. I don't have a .swf icon - its a white icon with the Flash mneumonic inside it.
    I have run updates and re-installed Flash Player - I don't know what else to try.

    Found it! Just had to do more digging...
    I've provided the path to the player.

I can add this code to the html file with no problem I only have a problem when the other code is added. I also have a problem sometimes using <noscript> </noscript>
    So in all this code I do not see where the flash swf file is being call twice. any Ideas.

  • How to display flash controlbar while playing videos on Oracle Apex 3.2.1?

    Hi,
    I´m developing an APEX application that displays Flash videos on a html page.
    I could display the video, but without the flash control bar (PLAY, STOP, PAUSE, SOUND VOLUM, etc).
    I´ve created an HTML region on a page with de following code:
    <body>
    <embed      src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#lixao.swf" width="440" height="280" controller="true" align="middle" quality="high" loop="false" name="player" hidden="false" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
    controller="true"
    pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/">
    </body>
    Could someone help me and explain what´s wrong with the code above?
    Best regards,
    Sergio Coutinho

    Couple things here..
    Please change forum name to something more friendly..
    Please when posting, include such information as database version, APEX version
    Also, I do NOT believe you need to include the <body> tag when building your region....
    Modify this with your required paths and file names:
    <object clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload. macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,16,0"

  • Stop Illustrator from being default player for Flash .swf files

    Please help. I am on Mac OS X. I have the Adobe CS suite. I
    have downloaded, uninstalled, and reinstalled the flash player.
    However, whenever I download a flash file to play, it automatically
    opens in Illustrator. But Illustrator doesn't recognize it as a
    file so it doesn't open. I went through preferences and I can't
    find anything that will get it to stop doing that. I don't know how
    to get to the preferences for the flash player to change that. And
    there isn't a way have it open up in flash player because the flash
    player is not an actual application that comes up in the
    applications list. There is a certain website that it is mainly
    .swf flash files that I have not been able to access because of
    this problem. What do I do?

    Have you received information on how to change this
    situation? My SWF files always open Illustrator, also.

  • Importing Flash (.swf) to Keynote

    Hi all,
    I am working in Keynote '08 (4.0.2) and have Quicktime 7.4.1 (14) installed. I need to import a Flash (.swf) file and play it in Keynote. Even though the online help says this: "You can also add video or Flash movies that play within a slide. For Flash to work with QuickTime 7.1.3 and later, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click QuickTime, click Advanced, and select Enable Flash." Keynote 4.0.2 does not accept .swf files (they are grayed out) and Quicktime 7.4.1 cannot play an .swf (This is not a movie file). Should I unistall QT 7.4.1 and install a previous QT version? Can Apple fix this problem? Any other suggestions? Thanks

    Thanks for your quick response. Perian helps with Flash video but as far as I can tell it does not help with swf format. I have an actionscript loaded flash file that cannot be converted to MPEG-4. If you are indeed correct and Apple no longer supports swf with QT then I want my money back for iWork. It clearly states in their manual/help that users can import swf files and play them in Keynote. What a rip-off.
    Is there a way to unistall QT 7.4.5?
    Thanks.

  • Button from External SWF to Play Movie in Main SWF

    Hi Guys,
    Ok I'm working in Flash 8, Action Script 2;
    I'm building a website, in which the 'Gallery Page' has a link to an external swf file, which is a scrolling clip of thumbnails.
    What I want to do, is create each thumbnail into a button, which will then play a Movie Clip from a frame located in the Main swf file.
    (So basically, each thumbnail button is a small photo, will play that photo in a large scale as a movie)
    eg.
    thumbnail1_btn  needs to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 1
    thumbnail2_btn nends to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 2
    I'm unsure of the code for this? Or if I've built this up wrong?
    If someone could help me out, that would be great!

    If you haven't set _lockroot on the loaded SWF, than a simple _root call from the loaded SWF will talk to the main SWF.
    IE:
    on(release){
    _root.gotoAndPlay(1);
    If you did set the lockroot, then call the level directly, via:
    on(release){
    _level0.gotoAndPlay(1);
    Once on the root level, you can access a movie clip as normal.
    So:
    on(release){
    _level0.movieClip1.gotoAndPlay(1);
    will call the movie clip "movieClip1" which resides on the timeline of _level0 (which is main.swf in your instance), and tell it to jump to the first frame and start playing.

  • Create a user profile Flash SWF with a database?

    I have a project to create a SWF game, that requires registered users pegged to a database (eg: student ID and class) to logon to the SWF and play the game, and then they can save their progress and continue it next time.
    Below is just a sample that I did of how it might look like:
    What's the best possible way to create a database that can be linked to a logon page like this, and how can i make sure the game progress is saved, so that the student can access it from any computer?
    I'm very new to this, as my Flash knowledge doesn't extend to ActionScript 3.0. Would welcome ideas and tips. Thank you!
    Soph

    OK, let's begin with your db first  -
    From your OP you are using UserID and Class as login credentials, so I've made these fields in the user table.
    The gstate table will eventually hold the users current game state.
    Copy & Paste the following to create a db with two tables into the SQL section of phpMyAdmin or similiar and press Go:
    create database if not exists `genogram`;
    USE `genogram`;
    /*Table structure for table `gstate` */
    DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `gstate`;
    CREATE TABLE `gstate` (
      `id` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
      `gID` varchar(100) NOT NULL,
      `gState` varchar(200) NOT NULL,
      PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
    ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;
    /*Table structure for table `gusers` */
    DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `gusers`;
    CREATE TABLE `gusers` (
      `id` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
      `uID` varchar(100) NOT NULL,
      `class` varchar(100) NOT NULL,
      PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
    ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;
    Once you have done this, you can enter userId and class details into the gusers table using phpMyAdmin.
    Let me know when you've got this far.
    Does your game have a fixed method of completion, or can the user complete it anyway they want?
    This will affect the way you store the users current game state.
