It can be done, since youtube does it. But that requires
heavy-duty programming and I suspect some
special server components (maybe Flash Server must be
installed too or something).
In any case that's not something you can do with Dreamweaver
or without a thorough knowledge of
server-side programming.
An alternative is to create a swf file in Flash that will
import linked media. You can link
quicktime videos dynamically and play them in the swf.
I'm not sure what other video formats are supported. You
might want to look into the Flash Media
Player component.

  • Flash Video in PHP page wont load/play.

I have a page that I have inserted a Flash Video into using
the INSERT > MEDIA > FLASH VIDEO tool. I have done this
before with success and no problem.
I have been reading other threads on this forum and have
noted other things to be careful of. In particular, I have already
turned off the option to "Prompt Users to Download. . . " and this
solved the first problem I had. I have also checked to make sure
that I have the Scripts folder in the proper directory. The odd
part is that it has always made that folder before, but it is not
making that folder for me. I copied one from another project I did
and put it in the directory, but it still does not work.
Does this have to do with the fact that it is on a PHP
include page in a CSS container? Any thoughts or suggestions would
    be appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Multiple Flash Videos on 1 Page

    Hi All
If i were to put 4 flash videos into a page, by using the
'import flash video' function in DW CS3 - will they all load at the
same time, or only load when the user clicks play?
    Many Thanks
    JP

Im not sure I understand, however I have a page up with 2
    flash movies, but
I timed them by extending the first frame on the one to not
    start any motion
until the first one is coming to an end.
So they both in essence start at once, but the one on top
    plays out, as it
is coming to an end, the one in the body begins to move...

  • Flash Video Player, PHP, and XML

I'm the visual designer for a web site "Global Oneness
    Project" (
    http://www.globalonenessproject.org/videos.php
) that's currently "streaming" progressive download quicktime
movies. The individual video pages (where you view a video) is
currently a php template that calls a MP4 from an XML file. Our
goal is to switch the embedded quicktime videos to embedded Flash
videos that play progressive download movies.
Ideally I would like to create a single Flash Video player
(SWF) thats embedded in a single php template (video.php), but will
play different videos depending on what state of the php is being
called. Basically, I want the site to work exactly like it does now
but with Flash instead of Quicktime.
I'm assuming that this will be created with some combination
of an external "AS" file, the XML data and the PHP logic but can't
even begin to get my mind around what needs to be done.
I found a few examples of how to play multiple videos in a
single player, but all of the examples use a playlist that's
embedded in the SWF. The video player will only be used for player
control and the user will choose the movie by selecting the correct
    PHP page within the HTML.
I'll be thankful for any direction you all can give or even a
Flash developer who would be able to take this project on.
    Thanks,
    Shawn

yes, it's possible.  and there are some similarities with an xml image gallery.  the main difference would be using something like an flvplayback component to display the videos as opposed to using a target movieclip to display the large image in an image gallery.

  • Flash video on web page takes long very time to load before it starts playback

I just created a basic flash file to play a video on my web page and it's taking several minutes to load before it starts playback.
I'm using progressive downlaod and the file is in *.mov format and is 84MB in size. At first that seemed large to me for web play back, but I thought it could handle it since I thought the way progressive download works is that it would start playing the first frame right away and progressively play other frames as they download. However, this seems to be downloading the whole file first (or a major part of it) before starting any playback at all.
Is there some kind of setting I'm missing or is my understanding of the download incorrect and the file size is too large?
    Some vitals:
    - I'm using Flash Pro CS5
    - To create my flash file, I used the standard import video wizard and selected the a file that is "on my computer" and "load external video with playback component" and then, I selected one of the standard skins.
    - To deploy the vidoe on my webiste I have three files:
    1) swf file containing the FLV component
    2) the swf file related to skin
    3) the actual video (84MB, mov file)
    - Web page includes/embeds reference to swf file

Thanks for your response again. Looks like things have changed a bit to complicate this a little more.
    adninjastrator wrote:
Are you saying that if I wait long enough it will start to play .... from the link you posted?
What you are implying here is correct. The file won't play no matter how long you wait.  Looks like it's because of the "source" file settings in the Import Wizard may now be incorrrect. This is why it's not playing in the new file.
When I created my original Flash Video using a MOV file, during the import wizard, when asked "Where is your video file?" I selected the option "Already deployed to a web server...". Here I entered the url to where the video file is located on my production server.
When I created the new Flash Video using F4V file, during the import wizard, when asked "Where is your video file?" I selected the option "On your computer". Here I selected the file from my local drive.
Sorry for not pointing out the inconsistency earlier - I didn't think it mattered and plus I couldn't get the F4V file to import from the web server.
Anyway, I've changed my object tag using the acutal published html that flash generates and have uploaded all source files to same location.
    http://www.upperhand.com/tv/video-intro.html
To sum up the problem(s) I need help with:
Issue #1 - When trying to import F4V file using import wizard, I cannot use "Already deployed to a web server..." as an option for the file location. I believe this is creating issue #2
Issue #2 - For some reason, the F4V file will not load into the SWF file when it's published to my production server.
It works when viewing locally through browser as c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mywebsite\video-intro.html
It doesn't work when viewing on development server through browser as http://localhost/mywebsite/video-intro.html
It doesn't work when viewing on production server through browser as http://www.mywebsite.com/video-intro.html
Issue #3 - When the above are resolved, I'm not certain if my orignal question/issue will be resolved...  browser tries to downlaod full file before any playback.

  • Flash Video in a page made from a template

And discards the change. I am trying to insert into the
editable region but it will not allow.
    Adobe Dreamweaver CS3
Making this change would require changing code that is locked
by a template or a translator. The change will be discarded.
    Any ideas,

This is incorrect. You have been told this before, you know?
    Please adjust
    your response! 8)
The problem is that when you insert the Flash video, if you
    don't pay
attention, you might leave the checkbox for "checking the
    version of the
Flash player" enabled. When you do that, DW wants to insert a
    call into the
body tag, onload. Of course, in a template, the body tag is
    locked, and
that's what causes the error message.
To get around it, uncheck that version checking checkbox.

  • CS6 - Trouble displaying Flash video in Web pages

    Hi,
Here's my problem: I embedded .flv videos in HTML pages the same way I've been doing it for years. It worked fine until I moved to CS6.
The last video clips were edited and encoded in Flash format (1024x576 for 1800 bps) in Premiere CSS6 then embedded in HTML pages in DW CS6 after creating the .swf files with Flash CS6. All CS6, no compatilbity problems then.
Once onlie, they fail to display properly, i.e. you have to click a couple of times on the Start/Pause button and occasionally refresh the page to be able to view the video. It's works fine once started but the trouble is getting it to start automatically.
There's over 300 videos ranging from a few seconds to about 15 min on this site, and this is the very first time I come across this kind of problem.
    Any suggestion?
Here's on of the old videos: http://www.aquiceara.com/UK/Video/Bresil_Maranhao_Survol_Lencois.html
And here's one of the CS6 "troublesome" videos: http://www.aquiceara.com/UK/Video/Chine_HK_Tai_Hang.html

The answer is to exactly copy the code from the CS5.5 and below versions of Dreamweaver.
Bu Nancy is correct. Everyone is moving to other standards for video on websites. Nancy generally recommends Pickle Player and I have been hand-coding using the HTML5 standards. I have generally found that all videos play in all browsers using the new standards, though you do have to support OGG and WEBM video files on your server.

  • Juggling Acrobat "slide time" that has Flash video on a page

I am trying to build a corporate slideshow from InDesign Mac over to Acrobat Pro 9.
Once I get inside Acrobat Pro 9 "fullscreen" mode, I want each slide to play 5 seconds. (So far no problem.)
But I have one page that has a properly placed Flash video in it -- a 30-second video.
How can I get Acrobat to hold on that page/slide until the Flash video completes.
So far, I can only get 5 seconds of the video, and then Acrobat rolls on to the next slide.
I have not been able to find any solution online. Anyone have an idea?

  • Adding Flash Video to web page

    Hi Everyone,
I have a web page that I have added a flash video to using
the insert flash video option in Dreamweaver. I uploaded all the
files including the additional files that are created when you use

P.S. If I preview it from my desktop before uploading to the

  • Flash problems on PHP pages - dreamweaver

    hi, i'm building a site that's basically a bunch of php-pages
(header, content, menu...) that are loaded into a index.php page
using "require" and javascript etc. anyways, many of the pages will
include flash files and this is causing some problem. have been
doing this kind of stuff before, but the flash code has changed
with the new version of dreamweaver. and i'm having trouble
figuring out what the problem is.
    the index page is at
    http://www.onion-berlin.com/test
the logo animation (flash) sits on a page called header.php
    and works like it should
but the mustavuori.php page in the content div isn't working.
the text is there, but the flash doesn't show.
the flash icon on the index.php page (in dw) looks broken,
    but on mustavuori.php not.
    what's wrong?
    i put the
    <script src="Scripts/swfobject_modified.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
in the head-section of the index page,
but where should this stuff go:
    <!--[if !IE]>-->
    </object>
    <!--<![endif]-->
    </object>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    swfobject.registerObject("FlashID");

and yeah, don't pay attetion to the news section. the links
& pages are not yet in place...

  • Flash Video in template child pages

I have created templates with editable regions for my
websites. When I try to insert a Flash video file (.flv) it wants
to put code in the header region and body region. I have tried
erasing the editable areas, making the entire header an editable
area, making the entire site an editable area. I've tried looking
on Google and the Dreamweaver Developers section (there is a link
to an answer but the link is broken). I unfortunately only have
Dreamweaver 8. If this problem is fixed in CS3 I'd be happy to go
to Kinkos and rent a machine. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Here's how you will have to manage this.
When you insert a Flash video on the page, several things
    happen -
    1. DW inserts a link to a javascript file in the head of the
    page.
    2. If you elect to check for Flash versions, DW inserts a
    call to that
javascript in the <body> tag of the page.
    3. DW then inserts a javascript call to the file (in #1) on
    the page at the
location where the Flash is to appear.
In a Template child page -
    1. The head region must have an editable region in it, so
    that the link can
    be inserted.
    2. The Flash check call will fail to be written to the body
    tag, since that
    is LOCKED by the template.
    3. The javascript will be written to the body of the page
    where you
    inserted the Flash.
Thus, 2 of the 3 elements should work fine.
My suggestion? Do it again, and do not select the check for
    Flash version -
    that should work for you.

  • Flash Video Play in a page like Youtube

    Hello,
I post a lot of videos on my blog and always have to have
people click on a link that opens a new window to play my flash
videos. i do this because if i were to place multiple flash videos
onto a page, they would all immediately start downloading. This web
site does what I am looking for, (
    http://blog.elysiumproductions.com/)
it has a jpeg as a placeholder on an html page, and then when you
click it, the flash video begins downloading. Do you know some
workflow to make this, or is there a service. The site i mentioned
says it uses click2start.net, but that site doesn't have anything
on it. This would be really helpful.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I did not use the streaming video before, but I guess there
must be an option Flash or in AS that start downloading when the
user click the playback button or some thing. Did you try to seach
    on google for answer?

of the results is clicked. So, on my details page, I want to insert
an FLV player using the Insert>Media>Flash Video function in
Dreamweaver. This brings up the window where you browse for your
FLV file and select a skin, etc. When I click on Browse, another
window pops up which allows you to navigate to the file, but also
gives you the option to Select file name from Data Sources. When I
choose data sources and select the appropriate field in my
recordset which contains the file to be played and click Choose,
and then then OK on the previous window, I get an error that my URL
    cannot contain any special characters.
I thought this could work the same way as an image place
    holder.
What am I doing wrong? Can I have an empty FLV player on a
page which gets the correct file to play from a MySQL databse with
    PHP?

this requires a .flv file, not .swf

This is a very unhelpful message unfortunately (o:

  • Error message when trying to imbed Flash video

Hello! I am trying to add Flash video to my page. When I try
to add the Flash file, I get a message that says "The URL cannot
contain spaces or special characters. Change the path or file name
and try again." I have tried moving the file to a different
directory and changing the file name but no luck. Any help would be
    appreciated.
