Flash8 or Flash CS3 determine what frames and objects use a given library object

I am doing cleanup on a FLA file(a large fla file). I am
looking for an easy way to determine where each library item
may be used in the given flash document and at what frame and
layer it may be used at.
Yes I have updated the use counts by selecting "update use
counts". Which is really nice. Becuase I can then
easily delete all the unneeded objects(note: I was also
guaranteed they(library items) were not called into the FLA file
dynamically by action script, Which was a relief).
So what I am looking for is a way to run a report for one
object or for the entire library to show me where
a given symbol, button,swf, flv or picture is being used in
the parent or it's chidren or in another library item.
Here is an example of the report I am looking for.
Library Item "logo.jpg":
ocurrence #1> _root;layer8,frame 25
ocurrence #2> _root;layer(showlogo),frame 25(imageframe)
ocurrence #3> _root;layer(showfinishpage),frame
125(exitpage)
occurence #4> LIBRARYITEM(logoTween),frame23,layer2
Does anyone know how this can be done...?

I don't know of any report, other than Generate size report
(found in publish settings under Flash), but you could probably
write a .jsfl script to do it for you I imagine.

copy your fla.
rename the copy to a dot rar file and use winrar to repair it. then unrar to see if you can get a uncorrupted copy.
otherwise, rename your fla to a zip, unzip it and recover whatever assets you can.
or if you have a good swf, try a decompiler (like sothink's) to see if you can recreate your fla.
and, in the future, save versions of your work so you never have to go through this learning experience with flash or any other document creation tool.

Quicktime movie export from Flash CS3 is skipping frame.

When I try to export Quicktime movie from Flash CS3, the
resulting mov file is skipping frames. i.e.: The movie is showing
frame number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12, 15
etc...
As you can see the frame number 7 is repeated 3 times and
frame 8 and 9 are nowhere to be found.
The last configuration I used is 960x540, Sorenson video 3
medium quality, 25 fps, keyframe every 25 frames. 6400 kbits/s.
I tried various configurations,with different codecs and even
with keyframe all frames and I always get simillar problems.
Anyone have an idea what is going on, and how to fix this?

The QT exporter in Flash is honestly my least favorite
feature - not the feature itself but how it
works (or how it doesn't work in some cases). For me it is
almost unusable unless you have a very
short timeline, small stage, lower frame rate - like AS
generated effects or something - otherwise,
for true frame accuracy to video output - it is not reliable
enough and not fast enough for any real
world production environment.
So typically for me - I love SWF2Video (www.flashants.com) as
it takes any SWF and makes it into an
AVI that is frame accurate no matter what the frame rate is -
quite incredible - enough so that I
always felt it should have been bundled with Flash (as well
as Wacom tablets).
Harmony is an incredible product - as is SOLO and TBS (Toon
Boom mStudio) - each of those programs
are dedicated animation programs designed for output to video
- Flash has a lot of hats to fill and
it was never really designed for animation to video even
though many of us have found it suitable
for all intents and purposes as an animation program for full
production.
But all in all - the quicktime exporter doesn't really
deliver how we would expect it too I am sorry
to say - I only hope it works as well as it does on the Mac
(Mac users could always choose to export
to Quicktime Video but not PC users).
For now if I am exporting to video I keep it all on the
timeline or nested in Graphic symbols or use
the SWF2Video tool.

Adobe Flash CS3 detected a problem and has to be closed.

Hello,
I'm using Flash CS3 for a month, but the problem is that
since a week ago, flash CS3 stops working after 5 minutes of use.
So today I've downloaded the test version (30 days) in
another PC, but even with this other computer the software doesn't
works and has to be closed.
So that's not because of my computer. It's a more general
problem.
Did it happened to one of you? DO you know if flash CS3
doesn't work for everyone right now?
Do you know how to repair this kind of problem? I'm very
desperate and I really need to use flash. I don't know what to do.

There could be any number of items causing this. First off is do you have an active internet connection? If so have you tried rebooting you computer?

Was using Flash 8 on a PC now using Flash CS3 on MAC X and having problems

Hello,
I'm currently creating a photo gallery displaying thumbnails
of the original main image.
I was using Flash 8 on a PC and now am using that same file
on a MAC OS X using Flash CS3. And now the thumbnails are not
visible. The main image appears but the thumbnails do not.
The SWF created with Flash 8 viewed properly but when I
opened the fla in Flash CS3 the thumbnails stopped appearing and
I'm not sure what to do?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

From the LabVIEW Help description:
Sound File Write Simple (Windows, Linux)
Writes data from an array of waveforms to a .wav file. This VI automatically opens, writes to, and closes the .wav file. Windows You must have DirectX 8.0 or later to use this VI. Linux You must have the Open Sound System (OSS) driver to use this VI.
So, the data input to Sound File Write Simple.vi is an array of waveforms. However, if you only have one waveform, you can build an array that contains only your single waveform using the Build Array VI. As described in the LabVIEW Help description:
Build Array
Concatenates multiple arrays or appends elements to an n-dimensional array. You also can use the Replace Array Subset function to modify an existing array.
So, for example, you could run your single waveform into the Build Array function and get an array of waveforms containing only your waveform. You could then wire this array of waveforms to the Sound File Write Simple.vi. This is shown in the image below.

Flash CS3 fl.* package cannot be used in Flex Builder 3

Hi,
I was very disappointed to find out that one cannot import
the fl.* package, which is available for flash CS3. I found a work
around by creating swc file and importing them, however it's
disappointing that flash CS3 would have such a major advantage over
Flex Builder 3 when building an Action Script 3.0 Application.

I've looked over that sample.
Part of the problem is that I don't have access to
mx.effects. I think this is because that example is a Flex 3
Project and has a MXML file attributed to it. I opened a Flex 3
project and was able to access mx.effects - but my project is
different in that it's an ActionScript project - meaning, I opened
an ActionScript project in Flex Builder 3. Apperantly the
ActionScript projects don't have access to mx.effects.Tween. And
niether do they have access to fl.transitions.Tween. It's strange -
and I'm trying to find a way to access them by connecting the build
path to the Tween classes somehow.
My project preferences already have the fl.* folders in the
build path. It just still doesn't seem to work.

How do I determine what applications are communicating using SMB?

Thanks Kurt. We are attempting to find the cause of the notorious two-minute spinning beachball delay. Not sure if you are aware of this problem, but it holds up Finder, Adobe InDeisgn, and other applications for two minutes while it is waiting for a response from a windows server. It shows in the log as:

How do I determine what Cert Template is used by a Cert?

The objective here is to understand what Certificate templates are used to issue certificates.
We have a 2003 Sub Issuing CA which issues Certs to servers. Im thinking the best way to see what template was used to issue this Cert is to go the Details tab of the Cert, look at the Certificate Template Information Field and view the Value
information, which says 'Template=1.3.6......'. I try to map this Value information back to the Source Cert Template in the Certificates Template MMC or the actual template by viewing the Certificates container on a DC using ADSIEDIT, however I
don't see the info contained in the Value field anywhere.
Any suggestions on a good way to understand what templates are used by issued Certificates?

What threw me for a loop is the particular Cert Im viewing in the GUI doesn't have a name of a template when I view the cert in the Cert Template Information field. What I see is the following:

1.3.6.1.4.1....8386
Major Version Number=100
Minor Version Number=3 So is it possible this Cert was issued without using a published template?

Creating a Simple Flash Movie With Poster Frame and Play/Pause Buttons

Hi, It's been over a year since I played with Flash last, and
I have completely forgotten everything I learned.
I have a .flv file which I want to play on my website. It
should display a poster frame when the page load, and not autoplay
the movie. It should have the play button I made in photoshop
sitting on top of the poster frame. When pressed, the movie should
start playing and the button should be shifted for the pause button
I made in PS (it should work just like the play/pause button in
iTunes). When the movie has finished playing, it should jump back
to the poster frame.
I have tried using the flvplayback component and also played
around with just embedding the flv directly and inserting a play
and pause button from the common library, but I can't seem to get
it to work. With the flvplayback component I have managed most of
it apart from using my own buttons and getting the poster frame to
work (which apparently has to be done with Action script).
Any help appreciated.

Which version of Flash/actionscript are you using? Since you
are just starting out, you should read one of Adobe's tutorials on
the matter. Either use Flash Help to find examples on how to use
Flash or go to their website. Here is a great tutorial for someone
just starting out. Make sure you read all three tutorials in "Using
Flash for the first time".

I'm not quite sure what you mean by vectors. Are vectors specific to VXWorks? Are you trying to figure out which instrument is causing an interrupt or asserting the trigger? Are you trying to determine which trigger line has been asserted? Please clarify your question and provide more details, I'll try to find an answer for you.

Any way to determine what process/program is using a lot of bandwith?

I have two Snow Leopard servers on Mac Pro hardware. They are running open directory (replication) over an OpenVPN site-to-site VPN.
The west coast server is the OD master. East coast is replicating it.
I have noticed that after the servers have been on for a while, the east coast server will send out a lot of traffic through the router and I am not exactly sure where it's going. It is maxing out my WAN upload speed and slowing down all remote connections. I reboot the server and the outbound traffic graphs on my router (pfSense) drops to almost nothing. It comes back up and the outbound traffic shoots back up again.
There are no connections to AFP shares, no clients on FTP, no clients connected to the VPN server on the Mac, no one connected to the SMB shares either.
Is there anything that will tell me what is using all the upload?

Not knowing the details about your environment plus not being their this could be a "What the . . . " moment or simply nothing at all? Furthermore I could also be completely wrong? Maybe what you're seeing is what you're supposed to see? Although Chapter 4, Page 60 of the Directory Services Admin Manual is pretty specific about the Replication Settings available in a Master/Replica relationship:

I don't have access to a 10.6 Master/Replica but a similar 10.5 environment where Master and Replica are local rather than across the Internet do have those settings present. Perhaps it's different in 10.6? Regardless, what was offered was a suggestion only and somewhere to look first. Have you explored the command line utilities yet?

Identifying Flash Player versions 10a, 10b and 10c using client side scripting

I need to write a client side script to identify users with 10a, 10b or 10c installed, but I only see version 10 (no letters.) Is there a translation between version keys major/minor/revision, and 10a/10b/10c? I want to use the (IsObject(CreateObject("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash"))) method in conjuction with the javascript.GetVariable("$version") method, and I need to know what values to check for.

On a DHCP server with BOOTP enabled. How can I determine what addresses were assigned using BOOTP

We are in the process of migrating our 2008 R2 DHCP servers to Server 2012. We're doing this in order to configure DHCP failover to a remote site. We can't do this if BOOTP is enabled on the scope. Before I start disabling BOOTP on all
of our scopes, I would like to find out what is using BOOTP. Is there a way to search all scopes in the DHCP database to find all addresses assigned using BOOTP. Powershell, netsh?

1. Open DHCP console, expand the DHCP server.
2. Right click IPv4, and select Properties.
3. Switch to General tab, select the checkbox Show the BOOTP tab folder.
