Flat Panel Causing Speaker Humming Help Needed!!!

Hey, I got a question. I got a mac book pro and I got the mbox pro 2. I also got a apple hd display 23 flat panel and Event ALP 5 speakers with a S100 Sub. When I first hooked everything up, I started getting a humming sound from the speakers. So I thought it was that I had bad wires connect to the speakers. But I found out that wasnt the problem. So by accident, I miss and unplug the cord hooking the 23" flat panel from the mbox pro. So when I did that, the huming from the speaker stoped. So can you help me, cuz i wanna be able to hook up my 23 flat panel to my mbox without the speaker huming.

Well, I'll at least give you points for neatness. However, that is about it.
I didn't really look through all of your logic but I would highly recommend that you check out the examples for implementing state machines. Your application suffers greatly in that once you start you basically jumped off the cliff. There is no way to alter your flow. Once in the sequence structure you MUST execute every frame. If you use a state machine architecture you can take advantage of shift registers and eliminate most of your local variables. You will also be able to stop execution if necessary such as a user abort or an error. Definitely look at using subVIs. Try to avoid implementing most of your program in formula nodes. You have basically written most of your processing there. While formula nodes are easier for very complex equations most of what you have can easily be done in native LabVIEW code. Also if you create subVIs you can iterate over the data sets. You don't need to duplicate the code for every data set.
I tell this to new folks all the time. Take some time to get comfortable with data flow programming. It is a different paradigm than sequential text based languages but once you learn it it is extremely powerful. All your data flow to control execution rather than relying on the sequence frame structure. A state machine will also help quite a bit.

  • Kernel panic on my iMac G4 flat panel OSX 10.3--help!

    Hello,
I have an iMac with OSX Panther 10.3. This afternoon I decided to update a lot of the software that was on the computer (used the Software Update on the computer preferences), and also downloaded a bunch of free software that looked useful. (I don't always do the updates because I have a slow dial-up connection at home, but this weekend I brought my home computer to a friend's office with a faster connection so I could do this.) Apparently that was a BIG mistake. I left for a while, came back and discovered that not all of the Mac OSX update had been installed, and when I clicked on something (could have just been any place--I don't know), I got what I now know is a KERNAL PANIC. I repeatedly got the black drop-down screen that has a multilingual message to restart the computer.
I read some responses to questions about this on a Mac forum and another one (www.mac-help, including the Dr. Smoke list of things to do, and tried to follow some of the suggestions. I tried to reboot the computer several times, using my OSX 10.3 Install Disk (didn't work) and then my original iMac OSX Install Disk. I could get the Disk Utility to open, eventually, and two hard disk icons appeared: 38.16 GB Maxtor and 743.29 MB HL- . (The name of my hard drive had been Scribe, so this is not the same hard drive name obviously.)
I chose the hard drive called 38.16 GB Maxtor, chose First Aid, and clicked on Verify. I got this list:
    Verifying disk "Macintosh HD"
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extentes Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Checking multi-linked files.
    Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    Checking volume bitmap.
[in red] Volume Bit Map needs minor repair
    Checking volume information.
[in red] Invalid volume free block count
(It should be 6432952 instead of 6432857)
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
    Verify completed.
I could not Verify the hard drive icon labelled 743.29 MB HL-
I tried to install OS X but got a message that I couldn't install older software on top of the newer software (presumably OS X 10.3 that I had on the computer already?). I saw a message on a forum saying to go to Partition on the Disk Utility and to choose the smallest partition. (This is really foreign territory to me--I'm not very computer-savvy although I use mine a lot.) There was no such information and the windows were sort of greyed-out.
I tried to use the OS X 10.3 Install Disk again, but got the Kernel Panic message (same one).
Now what? Have I lost all of what I had on my computer (which was a great deal, including some registered software (Sibelius 3))? Can I retrieve it? How can I get my computer to work again?
By the way, if I go to the Apple icon and drop the menu down, all of the items are greyed-out, and I can't even see "About This Mac."
Please help, and please don't assume that I know anything beyond basic usage.
    Thanks so much!
    yours in a panic,

Well, with a PPC Mac you can upgrade as far as Firefox 3.6.19 if you upgrade from Tiger OSX 10.3.9 to Leopard OSX 10.5, but Firefox doesn't support PPC architecture in the latest Firefox 4, 5, and 6.0 versions.
    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0 & 5.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

  • How can I erase all phantom iCal data from my iPhone/Flat Panel Mac?

Tried many ideas and Apple Genius could not even help me. Here is the scoop...
I created an iCloud account then synched my iPhone to my Flat Panel. Suddenly my iPhone showed up to six duplicates of iCal events (often a week or two later than the actual event). My Flat Panel iCal showed no such events. I erased all data and settings from the iPhone, restarted it from scratch (both from a back-up and as a new iPhone). As soon as I synch it to the Flat Panel the multiple events reappear on the iPhone but still not on the Flat Panel. I checked the "replace all calendar info" box in iTunes before synching. I deleted my iCloud account. I tried synching my old 1st gen iPod to teh Flat Panel, and the iCal info there is correct. I erased the iPhone and started over by starting it up/synching with my Macbook Air. The iCal info is now correct on my iPhone. How can I go back to synching on my Flat Panel? Where is the phantom info hiding on the Flat Panel?
Thanks for helping me with this strange problem!
    John

    Ohnj,
I presume that you are no longer trying to use iCloud for syncing with the "Flat Panel." It will not work since you are using OS X 10.5.8.
Quit iCal, go to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars folder and remove any/all files with "Cache" as a part of the file name. Then log out/in or restart and see what happens.

  • I need help with imac g4 flat panel download of leopard it tells me it cannot load on the system.

i bought a refurbished imac g4 flat panel. it is supposed to have an os but it only comes up with a question mark. I put leopard in and it tells me it cannot load on this compuert. system is 800mhz and 60g hd and 768ram.   i have tried to do a fix through the utility and it says it does not exit and kicks me out.  ANY HELP IS A PLUS.

Try holding down the option key then power on. This brings up the startup manager. Click on your hd. Click on right arrow key.
Sometimes if volumes don't appear in Startup Manager (what you get when you hold down the Option key at startup), you need to reset the Mac's PRAM, NVRAM, and Open Firmware. Shut down the Mac, then power it up, and before the screen lights up, quickly hold down the Command, Option, P, and R keys, until the Mac has chimed twice more after the powerup chime. Then, before the screen lights up, hold down Command-Option-O-F until the Open Firmware screen appears. Then enter these lines, pressing Return after each one:
    reset-nvram
    set-defaults
    reset-all
"The reset-all command should restart your Mac. If so, you have successfully reset the Open Firmware settings."

it is possible to enable and disable it as needed,

  • Please HELP, imac flat panel email sooo slow, locks up

Hi There, I have read soo many discussions but still can't real find the help i need. I have a flat panel 17 inch imac running 10.2.8. It has been fine for the last 4 years, but just in the past month or so it has been very annoying. It seems to be mostly when i am using mail or safari. the other apps don't seem that slow. I can have every app closed except mail and it will give me the beach ball and lock up.
I have gotten an external hd and put all my music on that. I have also tried to run disk utility and macjanitor, but it's still painful to try to be on mail/online.
Is there a way to run iphoto from the mac hd but have the library read from the external like in itunes?
Any other suggestions would be awesome!!
    Please.Thanks Bobby

    hi there,
Thanks for the help guys. I don't think space is an issue. I have Capacity: 74.52gb, Available: 52.55 and used: 21.97. I tried Onyx and that seemed to help a lot. I didn't know what I was doing, but I just hit delete and execute where i could! My mail still acts really weird. I can use it for a while sometimes and it's fine and sometimes you just delete a msg or go to a different msg and it says "writing changes to disk." It will get stuck like that for about 2-5minutes. If you just don't touch anything it will resolve, but it's really annoying.
I don't check a hotmail account, but I do have a pop account setup through my website domain. I try to keep my messages low on both computers. I've had it like that for a while and it's just starting to do the "writing changes to disk" problem.
Anyway, thanks for the help. I think Onyx will get me through!

  • HELP Please . IBM L170p ThinkVision 17-inch Flat Panel Monitor

    Hello
I was given a IBM L170p ThinkVision 17-inch Flat Panel Monitor (ibelieve that is what it is) and im having some trouble getting it to work. I think i may need the drivers for it but i can not locate them online. I did a search on the IBM site and this is where i found out the name for this monitor. I typed in the " Type# " from the side of the screen which is 6734-HBO s/n xxxxxxx .
I have it connected to my laptop as a second monitor but i can not get a picture on it. If i hold down one of the buttons to adjust the screen left or right ect, the picture will appear for about 2 seconds and then it goes back to a black screen. I was hoping that someone here could help me out and link me to the drivers for this monitor ?  OR do you think there is another problem with why i can not get the picture to display, and if so do you know of a way to fix this ?
Any help at all would be appreciated Thanks in advance
    -Curt
    UPDATE:
I found this listed as a driver on here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-50550
I downloaded and saved all  files to a folder and then followd the direction from an online manual for installing or updating the drivers for the monitor and this didn't help at all. It just told me there were no better updates then the ones that were already installd..
So it must be another problem. Does anyone have any guess or fixes for this ? Thanks again

primul - welcome to the forum!
before we assume this is a hardware problem, let's walk through some troubleshooting first.
1: did this monitor work on the previous system before it was given to you?
2: have you ever used an external monitor with your laptop?
3: have you set your laptop to either mirror or extend the desktop onto the external display?
4: have you tried uninstalling the current driver and then installing the one from IBM?
5: what do you see on the screen during those 2 seconds when you press one of the buttons?
    1. As far as they knew, the monitor worked the last time that used it, but they couldn't remember when.
2 & 3. I always use an external monitor on my laptop as an extended monitor so that i have one large surface for a screen when i do my work on photoshop.
    4. i havent tried this because i dont have the driver cd to reinstall the ones that are on my laptop now lol.
    5. i see my screen wallpaper when i get it to work for those seconds, or i see a window that may have opened up on that screen.
If it's going to be a pain to get this to work i'll just chuck it out or throw it on ebay for parts. Dell is selling new 20inch flat screens for 150$ so i was thinking of snaging one of those.

  • Need to force CD/DVD drawer open on G4 flat panel iMac

Anybody know how to "force-open" the CD drawer on a flat panel iMac (G4 hemispherical base)? This one has a quirk - the eject button won't open the CD drawer until the OS has completely loaded. I just used software upgrade to update some apps and on restart, all I get is the spinning gear. I need to startup from the system CD, but I can't get the drawer open to insert it. Any ideas?

    Hello and Welcome to Apple

You'll have to use the Open

    above.
The manual button to open the drive is
hidden on the iMac G4 and so not an option.

  • HP flat panel monitor - does it need a driver?

Can I just check if it is necessary to install a different driver for a HP flat panel monitor, as I tried to connect a HP 19 inch display and the display looked a little fuzzy, certainly not as clear as when it had been displaying from the old PC. Thanks in advance

No drivers should be necessary. Check the Display system preference and make sure the monitor is being driven at it's default (maximum) resolution. Some monitors don't auto-detect correctly, so your Mac may not have set (or even recognized) the correct resolution.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sleep causes vertical lines on G4 iMac (Flat Panel)

    Hi.
I've installed Leopard on my Flat Panel iMac and everything seems fine - except that I cannot use the sleep function.
As soon as I enter sleep mode (timed or manual), the screen is filled with vertical lines before sleeping.
When I wake it up, even more lines appear, filling the screen completely. Though, keyboard commands etc. still work fine. Only the screen output is affected. The only solution I found is a hard reset and disabling sleep mode...
Does anyone have the same problem - and even better - found a solution?
    Thanks,
    Phillip

I've had exactly the same issue with a 17" Flat Panel iMac, 800Mhz. I would be interested if anyone comes up with a solution.

  • IMac G4 flat panel with slow mouse and ever-whirring fan

    hi there -
my lovely iMac has treated me well for some time now, but gradually over the course of many months, it decided that it will not stop running it's fan, even when it seems cool it the touch and the room is cool. The noise is loud enough to drown out quiet music, and usually kicks in if the computer has been off overnight within about 15-20 minutes of startup, never to stop. i ave tried giving her space, moving the routers etc away, but alas...
also, my mac has become prone to freezing the mouse quite often, but unplugging the mouse and replugging it seems to always fix it for a bit, but only temporarily - like 3 minutes or so sometimes, sometimes it's fine for longer after unplugging but just slow to react. and while it never used to freeze up altogether, it now quite often does.
we have a good amount of programs and music, but i don't know enough about computers to know how much is too much. we always try to keep as little running as possible - i.e. just netscape, or netscape and itunes, or just itunes. here are my computer's stats:
iMac G4 flat panel, 700MHZ Power PC G4 768 MB SD RAM
i don't know if this is helpful, but:
capacity on hard drive:38.15 GB available: 2.87
any thoughts from you experts out there would be so very greatly appreciated. i love my little mac dearly, and don't want to see her bite the dust if all it would take is a little preemptive work! please help.
    iMac g4 flatscreen   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

My interpretation of the information you noted about the capacity of the
hard disk drive and the remaining free-space, is indicative of too-full a
hard disk drive so that could be the main problem. Instead of less than
10% capacity remaining unused, you need to have more like 20% free.
There also is a chance there could be bad sectors or some low-level
corruption on the hard disk drive, in part due to it being too full and
the drive is also using alot of space normally used as virtual memory
by the system, so these small remaining places not filled all the time
are being re-used and that could force the machine to cannabalize
other data stored on the hard disk drive while the OS is looking for
VM (virtual memory is automatically allotted and maintained by the
system, by using hard drive free space; all applications and utilities
on the computer use, need, and look for it.)
Other causes of kernel panics could be related to hardware or software.
Since the hard disk drive is extremely suspect, that is a place to start.
The use of an external FireWire hard disk drive to save some files to,
may be helpful; setting up a new external FW HDD may be hard since
your computer maybe too full to get and use a cloning utility (superdooper
or carbon copy cloner) but you may be able to save some items to CD
or DVD-R media; and then start moving the originals of your saved work
from the computer to the trash. A utility such as What Size can be handy
to see what files are huge, where they are (and note system files are not
the ones you need to toss; user generated ones are) and delete some.
If the hard drive has sufficient damage from over-writing data, it may
need to be replaced. If not, it may need to be totally erased and the
Disk Utility used to zero old data and reformat. This is where a working
copy (clone) on an external drive could be re-cloned back into a Mac
from an earlier capture of the healthy system, and save alot of time in
the restoration process; since a clone does not require all the installer
discs to get a full system back. It does require forethought and action
before a problem; and making backups of your system off the computer.
I make complete computer hard drive copies with a clone utility; but these
are not automatic. It is possible to set up a computer with an automatic
backup system to make ongoing clones of the complete internal drive.
The slowness of your system and peripherials is most likely the full
hard disk drive; and/or issues resulting from that. I suspect this area
is one requiring action and may be just a starting point to fix damages.

    11.09.12 22:16:06,148 ClamXavSentry[286]: I will quarantine infected files
This doesn't have anything to do with your problem, but it will likely cause other issues with your e-mail.
Here's my standard recommendation concerting the use of A-V software to deal with potentially infected messages:
Never use ClamXav (or any other A-V software) to move (quarantine) or delete e-mail. It will corrupt the mailbox index which could cause loss of other e-mail and other issues with functions such as searching. It may also leave the original e-mail on your ISP's e-mail server and will be re-downloaded to your hard drive the next time you check for new mail.
So, if you choose to "Scan e-mail content for malware and phishing" in the General Preferences, make sure you do not elect to either Quarantine or Delete infected files.
When possibly infected e-mail files are found:
Right-click/Control-click on either the infection or file name in the ClamXav window.
Select "Reveal In Finder" from the pop-up menu.
When the window opens, double-click on the file to open the message in your e-mail client application.
Read the message and if you agree that it is junk/spam/phishing then use the e-mail client's delete button to delete it (this is especially important when the word "Heuristics" appears in the infection name).
If you disagree and choose to retain the message, return to ClamXav and choose "Exclude From Future Scans" from the pop-up menu.
If this is a g-mail account and those messages continue to show up after you have deleted them in the above manner, you may need to log in to webmail using your browser, go to the "All Mail" folder, find the message(s) and use the delete button there to permanently delete them from the server.
To fix the corrupted mailbox index(es), highlight each one that was corrupted and choose Rebuild from the appropriate menu.

  • EDI IDOC generation for interface with Vendor software help needed.

    EDI IDOC help needed.
We are NOT an EDI shop, but have a project to output data to Sales Force.com
Sales Force requests IDOC output - eg. 810 Outbound Invoice.
We will need to do a historical load of Orders/Quotes/Invoices from the past 2 years.
Is there a function module or series of FM's that are used to generate the E2EDKxxxxx type segments?
I have been testing using the IDOC_OUTPUT_INVOIC and IDOC_OUTPUT_ORDRSP FM's, but they generate segments begining with E1EDKxxxxx.
Basicall we have a report program that the user enteres in the date range of Order/Quotes/Invoices they wish to extract, the the program needs to output a flat file (.txt) on the server which is then picked up by Sales Force.com.
Also, is there a way to have in the Partner Profile a generic Partner under the "Type KU" that can be used for all orders/invoices so I don't have to create a KU Partner Type for each and every Sold-To customer we have?
I am very new to EDI so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Scott.

    Hi Scott,
We will need to do a historical load of Orders/Quotes/Invoices from the past 2 years.
I know it's very tempting to use an interface for such loads if you anyhow have to create one. However, often the volume alone speaks against interface usage for such scenarios.
Well, the E2* segments basically reflect the external name of the IDoc segment, whereas the function modules you're referring to basically just create an internal version of the IDoc. Once the IDoc framework then passes the IDocs to the partner, the segment names usually (depends on how the IDocs are passed on) get converted to their external name. If there are multiple versions of a segment, then the version number will be appended to the segment name.
Note that IDoc segment definitions are only partially stored in the data dictionary. If you want to see all versions you should always use transaction WE31 to look at segments. There you can also see for example for E1EDK01 the several versions and when you then use in SE37 function module SEGMENT_EXTERNAL_NAME_GET you will see what SAP produces as the external name for segment E1EDK01. This function module is basically the one that handles the segment name translations.
Ignore the comments for subsystem, this is basically an option in SAP to possibly trigger further external tools (e.g. mapping etc.) for handling the outbound IDocs.
Again, the funny thing is that via the WE30 transaction, if i put in INVOIC02 as the Obj. name and see the segments, i can see that E2EDK01 there is a version 005, but if i go to SE11 and put in E2EDK01005 structure line and i get a "not found". We just have up to E2EDK01002.
In the old days SAP used to generate E1, E2 and E3* structures in the data dictionary (SE11). The E1* structure reflected the character type representation of an IDoc segment, whereas the other two (definition and documentation) contained actual references to data elements (e.g. if you used a quantity field). However, in newer releases those dictionary structures (E2* & E3*) are no longer generated, because they're superfluous (meta data defined via WE31 is sufficient).
