I'm in the same situation as you, qtp automation of a flex
product, and havent been able identify flex objects. I have been
able to identify activeX but qtp tags them with coordinates which
won't work for our automation.
I work with an ex - adobe tier 3 support guy so I can see why
no one can help here on the adobe forums...

please try launching with the "-clean" command line option? E.g.
from the command line:
eclipse -clean
or

this has happened, it appears that a DLL is missing. Almost all of
Flex Builder is written in Java, but there are a few bits of native
code. In your "plugins" directory (e.g. "C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\plugins", or ""C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3 Plug-in\eclipse\plugins", something like
that) should be either a file or a directory called
com.adobe.flexbuilder.utils.osnative_3.0.*.jar (where "*" is a
six-digit number). Inside that jar file, among other things, should
be a file called os/win32/x86/JNIToNativeBridge.dll. Please note,
there are two plugins with similar names:
com.adobe.flexbuilder.utils.osnative, and
com.adobe.flexbuilder.utils.osnative.win. The one I am referring to
here is the one that does *not* have "win" in the name.
Eclipse caches lots of stuff; one thing it does is, if it

Issue with child items of flex tree using QTP

Hi,
We are trying to automate Flex web application using QTP10.
We are facing below issue with Flex tree when we try to automate a scenario of selecting a child item displayed in flex tree.
Issue:
On recording the step of selecting an item from Flex tree using QTP, the script displayed is .Select Index1. But when we replay it back no action is being performed.
Also on object spy we are able to navigate only till flex tree and we are not able to spy child items of flex tree.On the web page the child items are displayed as radio buttons/checkboxes.
Please provide a solution for me to this problem.

You could perform a HTTP trace (using HTTP watch) and compare the OCI data in POST method for both users (the correct and incorrect ones).
Perhaps there is some additional/missing information being passed from catalog to SRM.

          I'm using QTP 9.2 and 10 version to automate the test secnaro's on flash.
          I have installed Flex 3.0 addin for QTP, able to identify the flex objects...but it is not identifying the flash.
          Pls, provide some guideness for the automation testing of Falsh movies..

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Troubleshooting

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Developing Flex outside of Eclipse plugin environment?

I'm curious to know how many of those doing actual Flex development are working with the SDK directly and not using the Flash Builder Eclipse platform?
While the design view aspect of the plugin is nice, I'm finding that I'm spending most of my time directly in the code and less in the design view. In fact, I'm getting somewhat frustrated by the design mode since there are feature that I would have expected that are simply not provided.

Flex Builder vs Eclipse Plugin

Hi All,
New to Flex and am currently working on PHP and java projects
using Eclipse. I would love to be able to utilize one IDE for all
my projects but don't want to sacrifice solid Flex support (mxml,
design view ect...).
How does the Eclipse plug-in compare with Flex Builder (what
do I loose if I use the Eclipse plug-in)?
Any comments much appreciated.

Flex bulder seems to be just an eclipse installation with the
plugin already there for you, so you shouldnt loose anything by
using just the plugin
However i did find when using using the flex plugin in
combination with all the other development plugins i had going it
made eclipse grind to a crashing halt every 20mins. Increasing the
eclipse jvm memory limits helped, but didnt fully solve my crashing
problem
If you want to incorporate all your development into one
eclipse then increase the eclipse jvm memory and give it a try, if
it is going too slow then use the stand alone builder

Flex Builder 2.01 Plugin Installation Fails

When I try to install the Flex Builder plugin, the install
fails. The .log file it creates says this, which appears to be
related to the fact that I already have several of the resources
that it tries to install in my Eclipse 3.2 installation. Can
someone help?

I had the same issue and ended up installing another eclipse
installation with no add-ons (unzipped the zip file in a different
location). I will then start adding the plug-ins that I am missing
now.
So basically I had to do a brand new install of Eclipse,
which almost defeats the purpose of the plug-in
Hopefully, the Adobe folks will fix this bug.
I had the CFEclipse, JSEclipse and MyEclipse Plug-ins on V3.2
installed.

Flex session replication among cluster Help needed!

I'am using Flex 3, LiceCycle Data Service 2.5.1, JBoss 4.2.1 in a web application. Our JBoss servers are in a cluster. We want to replicate Flex session among cluster, but it doesn't work. Did someone face issue with Flex session replication among application servers?

Gerard, You will need to cluster the LCDS 2.5.1 instances the same way you clustered JBoss. Flex Automation with QTP 10 (SDK 3.2 & 3.5) Error

I have been able to get very basic applications to work with the automation libraries and then with QTP.The issue I'm having is with the actual project I would like to automate. I have done all of the steps to install automation correctly and have also put the additional compiler arguments into flex. However when the application is initialzing I get the following errors:

The application that I'm working with uses the code-behind method of flex development. Has anyone had any issues working with QTP with a project using this method? Any information/ideas are appreciated.

Column flow plugin help

If someone has experience with Column Flow plugin for InDesign, please help me get started.
I have made 2 paragraph styles, with names starting with numbers 1 and 2 to indicate number of columns. Unfortunately, plugin just splits text into separate text frames but paragraphs with style named "2xxx" remain in just 1 column.

With the version available for download, you need to set the number
of columns in the object style.
Column Flow has been drastically improved ( i.e. there can be any
number of different column settings, the number does not need to be
set in the style name, you can use up to four different object styles,
etc.), but the new version is not yet available on the web site. (The
documentation needs to be updated, etc.)

Format Plugin Help Requested

I'm trying to get my feet wet by creating a REALLY simple file format plug-in but I just cannot get my image data into photoshop. I've modeled my simple plug-in after the TextFormat example code that came with the Advanced SDK. I found this one much easier to follow then the SimpleFormat example, though I've spent a lot of time studying that project too. I've also read through chapters 1, 2, 3, 9 and 11 of the documentation several times, but still cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. Pretty much all the relevant code is below in my ReadStart() function. It's long but relatively simple. It just sets relevant formatRecord components, allocates memory for the 256x256x8Bit RGB image and paints some data into the buffer. It then points formatRecord->data at the image data and calls formatRecord->advanceState(). My problem is that that function always returns formatBadParameters (-30500). I'm at a complete loss at what I could be doing wrong. Thank you for any help or suggestions you can provide. It doesn't appear in the about plugins list. In the system info list doesn't appear and it reports no errors loading plugins: "Plug-ins that failed to load: NONE".
The compilation and linking returns with no errors, and the same warnings that returns in win7. I'll try to compare the proyect options between that plugin and others that works with XP

Flex Student Information Management Portal help

I am building a student information management portal in flex /php (using AMFPHP), but being a Flex Newbie, I have been researching endless on the internet for help to kick start my project. My project will be interfacing with an oracle database system (which is not an issue, I have already built connection classes in php in my past projects). My problem is binding the data. It appears in my opinion that the data grid is the only way to output the data which will not work efficiently in my case. I need a fluid and flexible layout to present the data within the page. Can the query results be binded say in labels etc and if so, how can this be achieved. Any pointers to tutorial sites for beginners will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes, you can bind labels, but given that you are asking the question, you really have a way to go in knowing how to build a portal.

Plugin help for PS cc

I just installed PS CC, but have already had portraiture +, I now need to use portraiture + as my PS plugin, but I am not sure how to do that...can anyone help?

There are just so many options with Wacom kit nowadays, and along with the name changes, I for one, am having trouble keeping up. I had a go of a 13 in Companion, and the 1920x1080 was more than enough for a 13 and a bit inch screen. It was lovely to use, but from your point of view, they run Windows 8.1, and cost a fortune for their screen size. They do have the huge advantage of being a stand alone product, but can be used with a large monitor in dual screen mode, but as the Companion is providing all the driving power, I'd wonder if that was enough. I just looked and it is OK but not great.
The one I saw was owned by Oz Master Photographer Peter Eastway, and he used it for all his presentations as main speaker at the 2014 PSNZ National Convention. It was driving a pair of 1920 x 1200 projectors, but had to drop screen res to 1680 x 1050 to fit the 16.10 aspect ratio. I have to say it was entirely up to the job!
But too much money for the size IMO, but I might invest in a 13HD one day.

Flex Builder installed as Plugin strangeness

Re: Beta 3 of Flex Builder, i've got the standalone version
installed on my laptop and the plugin version on my desk machine.
All's fine with the standalone version. I'm working thru the
Lessons in the Getting Started Tutorials, and when i change the
Default Application from Lessons.mxml to Layout.mxml on my desk
machine with the plugin version and click the Run button, i still
see the Lessons.mxml in the Browser. I've tried rebuild the project
using Project > Clean... but with no success. I've also deleted
the Lessons file and tried rebuilding the project from scratch, but
when i click on the Run button, it still tries to open the Lessons
file.
Also, the way the interface is laid out is different between
the versions, and that makes me a little suspicious. I installed
both from the same installation file, FlexBuilder2_B3_05-08.exe,
and this is the first time i've installed FlexBuilder on either
machine.
Any advice?

I think Sho meant to choose the "Run As" submenu, then choose
"Flex
Application" from there. Once you've done that once, the Run
button

Good point--we probably wrote the tutorials based on the
standalone
version. I'll let the docs team know about this issue.
