Flex application works locally, fails when online (connecting to PHP script to insert row into DB)

Hi everyone,
I've got a Flex application that works wonderfully when I test it on my machine locally. It uploads files and send variables to a PHP script (that inserts them into a DB) with no errors when I run it locally. As soon as I put it online, the upload continues to work but something between my Flex application and the PHP script fails because no data is committed to the DB. I know the PHP script works fine - not only does it work when I run the Flex application locally but when I go directly to the PHP file online, a new empty line is added to the DB.
I initially thought that this was a cross domain issue so I added the following to the root of my hosted account:
<cross-domain-policy>
<site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="all"/>
<allow-access-from domain="*.MYURL"/>
<allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*.MYURL" headers="*" secure="false"/>
</cross-domain-policy>
I based this off of what I found online which seems to have done nothing for me. I'd also be happy to provide an error message but I don't get one when I debug.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Use a network monitor to see if the Flex app is truly requesting the right URL.

    When you add a WiFi you can't get into any websites??? But if you turn WiFi off you can access websites?
    You can access websites without WiFi? Do you have a 3G/4G iPad?

  • Shared Object working locally but not online

    My game records your high score using the sharedobject and while testing it locally it works fine, but when the swf is published and played online, it is not recording the hi score. Is there some sort of new security issue with saving shared objects on people's hard drives now?

    In Frame 1 I have this code. The first is for game progress, the second is for the high score which is then passed to the text object
    var Progress:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("progress", "/");
    var OwlHiScore:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("owlhiscore", "/");
    hisc.mainScore.text = (OwlHiScore.data.HiScore).toString();
    Then on the last frame where the game is over I have this code:
    if (score > OwlHiScore.data.HiScore) {
              hiScoreWon = true;
      OwlHiScore.data.HiScore = score;
      OwlHiScore.flush();
              hiScoreHolder.hiScoreEffect.mainScore.text = (OwlHiScore.data.HiScore).toString();
    } else {
              hiScoreWon = false;

  • Spry Horizontal menu works locally but not online.

    Hi people I built a site in Dreamwever CS5.5 and used a spry widget menu. It works great in firefox when I run it locally, but when I try to access a page from the online server it's rubbish. I've uploaded all of the JS files a couple of times and even copied some to multiple locations but still no joy. Any advice would be appreciated, the website is to promote a very noble cause. website is www.stopthetoad.com.au

    Hi Gramps,
    Thanks for your help, from the look of the previous posts on this forum
    you may need to change your name to Altruistic Guru.
    This is actually a site that my 14 years old daughter (Jessica) has put
    together and I'm very proud of her for the effort that she is giving in
    her own time without possibility of reward (other than having our native
    species survive another generation).
    Any further advice you can offer will go a long way towards getting
    those feral toads out of our country.
    We've upload all files via cuteftp, Dreamweaver and even manually 1 file
    at a time!
    But it still wont work. When we try to load a page we get a series of
    messages such as
        SpryMenu.js requires SpryWidget.js
        SpryMenuBarKeyNavigationPlugin.js requires SpryMenu.js!
    All of the files that the messages refer to have been uploaded several
    times but we still get the messages.
    The spry Ui-1.7 folder with all relevanr folders/files is in my
    public_html folder on the server. Should I move all of the Spry folders
    contents into the public_html folder or somewhere else?
    I expected Dreamweaver to do all of this for her perfectly, we must have
    gone wrong somewhere.
    This is a screenshot of the cuteftp screen showing all of the files in
    the public_html folder. You'll notice that I've copied some spry files
    into this folder also (will this cause problems)
    Kind regards,

  • Flash site works locally but not online (uploaded to server)

    We have bought a flash portfolio template and have customized it with our pictures, video, etc.
    When we test it locally on our computer (using different web browsers) it all works perfectly well. We have uploaded the finished website to our server and when you go to the address online, it doesn't work (a loader progress shows but it is stopped and nothing happens).
    We have however uploaded the original template we bought and it works perfectly online.
    The template consists of and index.html, various .swf, and various .xml that we have modified according to the template instructions (it also contains a java script folder we haven't touched).
    What is it wrong with our modified template - it works locally without problem…!
    Thanks for your help

    When a Flash file works locally but not on-line, it's almost always a pathing issue (provided you did upload ALL files and do not have something missing... as suggested by Ned).
    A "pathing issue" results when the main .swf cannot find one or more of the associated Flash files...like an xml file or images.
    It can be something as simple as using switching file names to all lower case. Local machine is not case sensative... most servers are. So "My Photo.JPG" is not the same as "my_photo.jpg". When naming files, best to use all lower case, no spaces in any file or folder names... use_underscore_instead.
    But the most common cause is that those associated files (xml, images, etc.) are not pathed relative to the Web page where the main .swf is embedded. Pathing to the .xml and image files should be as though the .swf was located in the same folder as the Web page... NOT the actual location of the .swf file.
    And that includes paths to the xml file and paths to image files coded into those xml files. Everything need to be coded relative to the Web page.

    I am trying to update a 4s. The update did not work for some reason. Now I need to restore the iPhone. When I connect the usb to the computer and phone it says I need to restore. So, I click to restore. It starts extracting the software. But I am continually getting the same error message that it cannot complete for unknown error. I have been working on this for 5 and a half hours. I'm tired, mu husband needs his phone and apple support is a joke and of course I can't find any answers anywhere. Please help!

    Hi MB2751,
    As an iPhone user myself, I know it must be very much a problem to have the phone out of service because of an error such as you are seeing. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
    I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
    If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    This might be one of the more confusing and less than clear questions I have come across here.  I don't use gnome or really any of this software that you use.  But from what I can decipher above, you seem to have two problems.
    First, it is not connecting consistently.  In order to fix this, you reinstall the software?  Am I reading that right?
    Second, once you do get a connection, you experience a kernel panic?  This is where the kernel has an oops and cannot recover, so it dumps its contents/errors to the screen.  Is this what is happening?
    Basically, you need to be more clear about what you are experiencing.  It would seem that English is not your first language, but that should not stop you from at least phrasing your question in a way that says more than "I click this" and "I click that".  Have you checked your logs at all to see if there is anything revealing there?

  • Recently bought airport Extreme and have connected the device to the modem. WIFI works. However when I connect the LAN port to a switch I do not see the LAN printer and my NAS. Which setting do I miss?

    I have installed my Airport Extreme and have conencted it directly to a modem. WIFI works fine. However I do not see my LAN network (printer. NAS,..).
    Analysis:
    Scen#1: When I connect the LAN port of the Airport Extreme to a switch (as input) and connect the other LAN devices also to the switch, those LAN devices do not have access to the internet. Also connecting the iPAD with WIFI to the Airport Extreme I cannot find my LAN printer and other devices.
    Scen#2: When I connect the LAN port of the Airport Extreme to a router X (as input) and connect the router X to the same switch, and the LAN devices to the switch, those LAN devices do have access to the internet. Also connecting the iPAD with WIFI to the router X I can find my LAN printer and other devices in the LAN network.
    Question what has impacted the behaviour of the Airport Extreme, not to detect the devices in the LAN network. Why is the use of a switch directly behind the Airport Extreme not working (no internet access for the other devices and Airport Extreme is not the basis station for the LAN network)?

    Your scenario #1 is a correct configuration and should work. It seems as though your Extreme is not acting as a router as I believe you intend.
    Most likely, you need to reset your modem. Power it down and let it rest for a few moments. Some need longer than others. Then, I recommend you "hard reset" your Extreme (see below) and configure it again, after the modem has been reset. From then on do not change what is connected to your modem without powering it down first.
    Once configured, confirm your Extreme's wireless network works as expected and that your iPad and every other wireless device can load web pages. Then, connect the printer directly to one of the Extreme's LAN ports and confirm that it works as well. After that it should work equally well with a switch between it and the Extreme, as should every other wired device connected to the switch. This assumes your switch is an unmanaged device requiring no specific configuration.
    Scenario #2: Having a router connected downstream of another is not a normal configuration, so don't pursue that as a solution. It will only distract you from determining the problem. If you want to repurpose Router X as another device do so only after everything else is working to your satisfaction.
    To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then press and hold its tiny reset button and keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.

  • Flash works locally, but not online!...

    I put a .SWF on a blank web page. It launches and plays fine
    locally if I launch the page from my hard drive, but online I just
    get a blank white page. Here's the link:
    http://al-i.anixter.com/TEMP/flashTemplate/index.html
    Any ideas?! Thanks!...

    Just realized if you right-click on the page and click
    "forward", it advances and works. I'd think it was something in the
    preloader code, but maybe not, because if the preloader was messed
    up, then I'd think it wouldn't work locally either, right?...
    UPDATED:
    Nevermind - figured it out! Stupid coding error in the
    preloader!!!

  • War file created in Eclipse works, but fails when created by Ant

    Hi,
    I am having trouble getting my flex war file to work when I create it using Ant, even though the same war works fine when I create it from my Eclipse Export War function. This is a critical problem and any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    I have a working installation of LCDS running under JBoss 4.0.5 (in a CENTOS (Red Hat) environment). I have implemented a datatier in Java to interact with my PostgreSQL 8.x database. The Java code, plus the necessary flex jars and xml files and some mxml test programs, are all in an Eclipse J2EE project that I created from the flex samples.war file. It all works fine when I use Eclipse to create a WAR from the project and deploy it in JBoss. My problem is this: When I create a WAR piece by piece using Ant, then deploy it to JBoss, that WAR does not work. The error I get is this:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: Invalid Configuration: see previous failures. flex.webtier.util.ServiceUtil.setupFlexService(ServiceUtil.java:55) flex.webtier.server.j2ee.MxmlServlet.init(MxmlServlet.java:57), etc.
    When I look at the log I see this problem:
    "You have more than one version of 'org.apache.commons.logging.Log' visible, which is not allowed.",
    but that error is in the server log even when I use the good WAR file.
    I have compared the two wars but cannot find any substantial difference between them.
    Thanks in advance!

    Have you tried enabling debug level logging and removing the category filters in services-config.xml? It should show all the destinations being created, and if any are failing. To get the maximum level of log detail, something like this should work:
    ><logging>
    >
    > <target class="flex.messaging.log.ConsoleTarget" level="Debug">
    >
    > <properties>
    >
    > <prefix>[Flex] </prefix>
    >
    > <includeDate>false</includeDate>
    >
    > <includeTime>false</includeTime>
    >
    > <includeLevel>false</includeLevel>
    >
    > <includeCategory>false</includeCategory>
    >
    > </properties>
    >
    > </target>
    >
    > </logging>
    Have a check that your remoting destinations are shown starting correctly for both WAR files, and see if there are any messages in the log that might be relevant.

    207: con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://SERVER-NAME/SERVLET-NAME?noAccessToProcedureBodies=true", USERNAME, PASS);I set noAccessToProcedureBodies=true because we are on shared hosting with a Virtual JVM and I don't have rights to grant permissions.
    I thought that I may have been able to execute the procedure as localhost, but when I ran "SHOW PROCESSLIST" from the local version of my servlet it displayed that I'm connecting via my ISP's IP address. When I did the same for the Remote version it displayed that it was using the IP address of my hosting company.
    So, when my local version of the servlet (http://127.0.0.1:8084/Servlet-war/Servlet)runs, it returns "8" which is correct, but upload all the files to the remote server (http://myserver.com/Servlet-war/Servlet) and I get that error when trying to run from the url.
    Any clues, thanks.

    Seems likely that there is a bug in the driver.
    Probably a rather exotic one since it seems likely that others have been able to use procs with MySQL.
    Some debugging notes
    1. Are you sure that the driver version on your local box is the same as that of the server? There is a meta data method(s) to determine that.
    2. Have you verified the code that you are looking at is the same as what is running?
    3. Try making an explicit statement (get rid of the '?') to see if it works.
    4. Are you using the latest released driver version?

  • Logon fail when creating Connection in Crystal Reports SP3

    Greetings,
    I am working on an issue where we have installed the SAP GUI 7.10, Crystal reports 2008 SP3, and SAP IK FP 3.1.
    We are testing the access to ECC.  We have setup the server in the GUI and can successfully logon to the server in the GUI.  We open Crystal Reports, select File -> New -> Standard Report, scroll down to SAP Table, Cluster, or Function, and the SAP System Logon window pops up.
    Select the ECC system, click Next, and input the logon info for the system.  Click Next and do not check the box for generating a RFC trace file, then click finish.
    This results in a new window popping up.  The title is Crystal Reports, and the contents of the window are as follows...
    Logon failed.
    Details: <bunch of Chinese characters>.<more Chinese characters>
    We are using the language setting of EN on the SAP server, and in the GUI configuration.  Not sure why we are getting Chinese (we have verified it as Chinese with a person here who can read some Chinese.  he says that the first part is "something about server not valid")
    We asked a user who does have a working install using CR 2K8 SP2 and SAP IK SP2 to try the login and he had the same results on this system.
    We can use the same SAP account to login to InfoView without an issue.
    Any suggestions?

    i had the same problem.
    it has something to do with the sap gui logon settings.
    1. go to your SAP logon ECC-properties (start sap-logon; right-click on your ecc connection)
    2. go to the Codepage-Tab
    3. set Language to default (standard)
    then it should work.

  • Firewire drives work individually; fail when daisy chained

    I have 3 FW400 drives daisy-chained. All was fine until a couple of weeks ago when I started having problems with drives randomly freezing up or unmounting, especially when writing large amounts of data (e.g., during a backup.)
    Despite multiple repairs with Disk Utility, running Disk Warrior & reformatting one of the drives, the problem continues.
    But--each drive works fine when connected directly to the Mac.
    -Does this indicate a problem with the chipset in one of the drives? (I already ran Hardware Test on my G5.)
    -Would a Firewire hub solve this problem?

    I have seen this problem before. It could be a chipset failure but it may be that each of the chipsets has the same ID. This causes problems with connecting them all at once. It seems to me that recent changes in Mac OS X can cause FW enclosures with the same ID to have problems connecting at the same time.
    One way you can verify this is if the enclosures also have USB 2.0 connections you will find they work with one on FireWire and the other two on USB.
    If an ID problem is your situation, even a hub will not help. If you have a friend with a hub or you have a WiebeTech Maxelerate you can use its hub to verify if a hub will work or not.
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/wiebetech/max/
    You might want to contact the FW enclosure manufacturer and see what they believe the issue is. Quite frankly, if you need to use more than a single enclosure or hard drive at a time I would consider external SATA. It is a lot more reliable for me.
    Have fun,
    Michael

  • Why do application updates continually fail when using AAM

    For more than a week I have tried to use AAM to update 17 applications in need of bug fixes. Of those 17 I have had success with only one application, Acrobat XI Pro. I have attempted with about half a dozen others and they all fail about midway through the download process.
    I am ending my 1 year subscription period and I am seriously considering not renewing my subscription. Getting help is very difficult indeed.

    UrSphere are you receiving any specific error messages when attempting to install the updates?  If it is U44M1P7 then this simply means the update has failed.  To locate the root cause of the failure you will want to review the installation logs for the update.  This will allow you to locate the specific error which is preventing the updates from being applied successfully.
    Please see Installation failed. Error U44M1P7 | Updates - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-u44m1p7-installing-updates-ccm.html for information on how to resolve the U44M1P7 error.  The document also references how to locate and interpret the installation log files.  Please feel free to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.
