Flex Builder is not building my Project

Hi all, I m very new to this Flex. I applied "clean" to my
project, from that I am not able to bulid any of my projects. It
deleted .html and other related files. when I tried running this
project, gives me error ",,.html file is not found".
Can any one of you help me in this issue.
thank you.

Hey
in FlexBuilder in the menu Project you can clean your
projects and be sure that the checkbox "start a build immediately
is checked.
Another reason of your problem can be the browser-caching
too, check this out too.
Cheers

  • Flex builder 3 - clean build

I am having problems with Flex builder 3 not building
    correctly.
It does incremental builds - to reduce compilation time on
individual changes I assume - but quite often gets it wrong and
produces a whole stack of invalid errors.
I've tried the build clean function but that doesn't seem to
actually perform a full build clean. It only resolves these issues
some of the time. I can mess around with the code - deleting and
then un-deleting lines that are throwing up errors, or sometimes
renaming the main style sheet - which usually fixes it. But this is
a constant drain on my productivity and sometimes no amount of
messing around will help. In those cases only exporting the entire
code base and creating a new project resolves the issue. (I would
guess because this forces a completely clean build)
Does anyone know of a way to either eliminate this problem
alltogether or failing that perform a full clean build through the
    builder.
I'm guessing a customised any build script may be the
solution, but I've never created one of these.

jfb, I tried all that but to no avail.
Devtron, am not using SVN ! I'm using the Flex Builder standalone version.
Thanks guys for your replies. I just ran out of patience and just started working with FB4 and all is going great !
    Thanks again

  • The selected Flex SDK does not support building mobile projects

I am unable to create a new Actionscript Mobile project.  The new project dialogue gives the error: "The selected Flex SDK does not support building mobile projects."  I tried seting the default Flec SDK both to the SDK included with Flash Builder 4.7, and also to a version of the 4.6.0 SDK (build 23201) with AIR 3.3 SDK overlayed on it, which already existed on my computer.  Both resulted in the same error.  Any ideas?

    Hi ,
Actionscript Mobile projects use AIR SDK by default in Flash Builder 4.7 . Flex SDK won't be used for Actionscript projects.
Could you please try creating an Actionscript project in fresh workspace and let me know if the issue still exists.
Also attach screenshot and error log if any.
    Thanks,
    Sanjay

  • Flex mobile 4.6 app works inside flash builder but not in android emulator

Originally posted on stackoverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8663892/flex-mobile-4-6-app-works-inside-flash-builder- but-not-in-android-emulator
I have a basic flex mobile 4.6 app and it works fully fine in the flash builder built-in emulator using an android device profile like aria...
It also launches fine in the android emulator but one particular view shows blank (and this view works fine in flash builder).
Before I get in to many details of the view are there any categorical gotchas that can be causing this?
I can't seem to get the trace statements from the app to show in 'adb logcat'. It seems I need to compile a debug version of the apk but I don't know how to do this. I use the 'Export Release Build' from the Project menu in flash builder and it doesn't seem to have an option for debug=true.
The problematic/blank view basically uses the stagewebview and iotashan's oauth library to call linkedin rest apis... A different (and working) view can make restful web service calls in the emulator fine, so it doesn't seem to be an internet permission.
The source code contained in the problematic/blank view is almost identical to the tutorial found at:http://www.riagora.com/2011/01/air-and-linkedin/
The differences are: a) The root tag is a View b) I use StageWebView instead of HtmlContainer c) I use my own linkedin key and tokens.
I would appreciate it if someone can provide me with some pointers on how to troubleshoot this situation. Perhaps someone can tell me how to debug the app while running in the emulator (I think I need the correct adt command arguments for this which matches the 'Export Release Build' menu but adds the debug param?)
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Comment Added:
I suspect that this has to do with connections to https:// api.linkedin.com and https:// www.linkedin.com. The only reason I can think of that the same code is not having issues inside of Flex Builder but indeed having issues in the Android emulator is something to do with certificates. Any ideas?

    Thanks er453r,
I have created a project that clearly reproduces the bug.  Here are the steps:
    1) Create a UrlLoader and point it to https://www.google.com (HTTPS is important because http works but HTTPS does not)
    2) Load it
    3) Run in Flash Builder 4.6/Air 3.1 and then run in Android emulator.  The former works with an http status 200.  The latter gives you an ioerror 2032.  I am assuming what works in Flash Builder is supposed to work in the Android Emulator and what what works in the emulator is supposed to work in a physical device (plus or minus boundary conditions).
I see a certificate exception in adb logcat but not sure if it's related...
Here is the self contained View code which works with a TabbedViewNavigatorApplication:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:View xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

Adding a Flex Builder Flash-Integration and Utilities project to make these files easier for people to work on. Flash-Integration is really an intermediate swc that Utilities uses. I've also modified the existing Flex Builder project for flex4tests to build against this new utilities project directly.
Also change the way FlashIntegration is built--we no longer have a manifest file and just include-classes FlashIntegrationClasses.as.

  • Default Target Main Build does not exist in this project

I am learning ant with eclipse and wanted to use ant build.xml to compile and run my class. I was getting the following error when i just tried to use ant.

You gave a default target in the build.xml, and then didn't define the target.
This is an Ant question. You're better off asking Ant questions on an Ant forum.

  • Flex Builder will not start

I really need some help on this. Flex builder will not start.
When I try to run it, I get the error: An error has occured. See
the log file: <has a location to file>.
When I open the file, I get an error log. I will post it to
    the end of this message.
So far, I have unisntalled/reinstalled Flex several times. I
have uninstalled Java, and reinstalled Java. I have uninstalled
Flex, removed ALL directories I could find (under /program files/
as well as /documents), run cclean to clear out registry entries,
as well as going through the entries one at a time. I then
rebooted, and reinstalled. I have also downloaded the original
    install file 3 times now.
One oddity of my install, is that I am running on a
re-directed desktop, so my /documents/flex builder 3/ directory is
out on the network, but acts like it is locally mapped. I HAVE
logged on my system's local account, which doesn't have a
redirected desktop. This error occurs on both accounts.
I am the administrator of this box, and all permissinos are
run as an administrator. I am running Vista Business, and have run
this both with user access control on and off. I have also tried
running it in compatibility mode for Win XP SP2. While installing
it seems to fail on the Cold Fusion plugin, but it continues to
install, and tells me it installed fine. I am honestly at my wit's
    end on this one.

Ok, this has FINALLY been fixed. There seems to be an issue
with having your documents stored remotely. My documents folder,
instead of being on my C: drive, has been redirected to the server,
    so the location is: \\server\share\username\documents\etc
To fix this, I uninstalled Flex Builder 3, then deleted that
directory i makes under documents. I then logged off my account,
and logged on as the local administrator. I installed as the local
administrator which does not have a redirected desktop nor
redirected documents folder. It installed fine. I logged off the
local admin account, and logged in as my account, and was able to
fire up Flex Builder 3. Though, it STILL created it's own "copy" of
Documents on the network drive. So, the directory structure is
\\server\share\userID\Documents, the problem, is that there are TWO
"Documents" directories there. If you go to properties, windows
still recognized the old one, as "My Documents" even though it is
redirected as the file, Documents. The new folder, is also called
    Documents.
Odd behavior. Just hope this helps someone else, in the
    future.

  • Installing Flex SDK into Flash Builder 4.7 problems

    Hi,
Im completely new to Flash Builder, today I have installed Flash Builder 4.7 & Flash CS6 from Creative Cloud for my son to start to learn game programming (with my help), I have used simple coding in web design however this terminology is new to me.
I bought my son the latest 'Foundation Game Design with ActionScript 3.0' book on recommendation but it was written when FB was version 4.5 so im guessing this might be the problem.
The book is very easy to follow but have hit problems at the beginning of the tutorials, the book talks about Flex SDK but it seems that FB 4.7 uses AIR SDK ?
So the first project called HelloWorld, we got up to:
Got an exclamation mark which said
'The import flash.display.Sprite is not used
    locally'
Continuing with the rest of the project the exclamation mark disappeared:
However on selecting run- Debug we got a blank Flash Player window  ('generate HTML wrapper file' was deselected)
So either we've done something wrong, or the book and FB version are not compatible?
    Any advice would be great!
    Thank you
    Latest ...
I thought that installing Flex SDK may solve the problem but after following instructions I have the error message, see image below. Really stumped now!

Sorry, if I went a little overboard. After re-reading your post, perhaps I should back up a little.
First, there are little things that Flash Builder (FB) will complain about. Having extra import statements in your code doesn't hurt anything. If I'm trying different solutions and then commenting out the code, the import statements will hang around, FB will complain, but just ignore it. If you see a little icon on the left edge of your code editor and its a red circle with an X in it, then that is something that will have to be fixed.
When you create an app in FB or Flash you can choose to create a web app which means it will run in a browser window. The project can optionally create an HTML wrapper, or web page that will load your app. In Flash Pro you can choose File->Publish Settings and there will be a checkbox on the left to publish a HTML wrapper. In FB, you can right click your project in the Package Explorer, select Properties at the bottom, select the ActionScript Compiler, and down at the bottom there will be a checkbox to create a HTML wrapper.
If you're just learning Flash Builder, then the FlexSDK 4.6 and the AIR SDK 3.1 that comes with it should be fine. You mentioned Apache SDK and I'd recently been working with that so I ended up getting side-tracked.
Getting an AIRSDK to work with when build ActionScript projects is easy. Just go to the adobe site, type AIR SDK in the search box, and you should find a page that will let you downloaded the latest version. There's also a page to let you download the latest AIR runtime, and if you were just going to run AIR apps and not build them, then that's all you would need. As a developer you'll want to install the runtime from the downloaded .exe file. With the SDK, after downloading it, installing it is easy. Just create a new folder an unzip the SDK into it, then place it somewhere easy to find. I put all my SDK's in their own directory right off the c: drive. So I have c:\AIRSDK_3.5.0.880 and c:\AIRSDK_3.7.0.1530. I use very descriptive folder names so I always know which SDK's I have to work from.
To use the SDK in Flash Pro select Help -> Manage AIR SDK, hit the plus button and add the folder you created. Now when you've opened a Flash project, you go to File->Publish Settings and select the combo box at the top, you'll see options like 'AIR 3.7.0.1530 for Android' in the list that reflect the SDK's you've added.
Generally with FB you'll be using a FlexSDK, or perhaps a FlexSDK overlaid with a newer version of AIRSDK. Overlaid basically means you copied the contents of the AIR SDK into the Flex Folder. The article I mentioned above will give you all the details on creating those. For instance, I downloaded the Apache Flex installer, installed it, then created an empty folder called c:\ApacheFlexSDK_4.9.1, launched the Apache installer, gave it the new empty folder I'd created, selected all the download options, and let it all download. If it launches a popup box or a security warning, you can allow it, and it will continue. Once you have the SDK and you want to use it with a project in FB, just right click the project, select Properties, selected that Compiler tab again, and up in the right corner you'll see 'Manage SDK's...'. Hit that link, add your new SDK to the list and give it a descriptive name, then selected the checkbox beside it to set it up as your default. If you do this, then all your projects set to use the default will automatically switch to it and rebuild. So if you want a project to stay with a specific SDK then select that option in your Compiler tab, and then you could use the combo box to select your new added SDK.
When I started with FB I think I spent the first 2 days going round and round with project settings and options until I got them all figured out.
When I develop, I usually have my browser open and I have bookmarks and favorites to let me quickly get to all the pages I use most often. Here are a few of them:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/index.html  <---- The API reference. In the packages window check out 'Top Level' at the top and Language Elements near the bottom. I think I have this page open in one or more tabs almost every day.

Ok, I think I went a little overboard again.

build.version, build.number & build.sdk are properties that are not being set.  I would assume that they should be set internally somehow.  However, if I manually set them via -D switches (with arbitrary values) I get the following:
    >ant -v clean package -Dbuild.version=1.2.3.4 -Dbuild.number=666 -Dbuild.sdk=4.1

I can see where the previous 3 properties are being used in the swc output file name, but now there is a build.report property that is not being set.  How do I know which properties need to be set, and what to set them to?

I was using the 4.5.1 flex SDK but there seemed to be other issues so I just used the link directly from the Ant Task Setup page (instead of using the newest SDK).  Upon following your instructions to ant build from the root directory, everything seemed to work correctly with a few exceptions.  Below is the last part of the output from the build.

So everything seems to be building correctly now, but not executing correctly.  Also, there are still a number of properties that are not being set:
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    report:
Skipped because property 'build.report' not set.
    instrument-compile:
Skipped because property 'build.instrument' not set.
    package-instrument:
Skipped because property 'build.instrument' not set.
    pmdReport:
Skipped because property 'build.pmd' not set.
Where should these values be set and what are appropriate values?  What could be causing the socket timeout and what exactly is it waiting for or attempting to accomplish with the sockets?
The end goal is to be able to use the flex SDK, flexunit and ANT on a linux server to automate my build/test process.  I am currently just trying to get ANT to work with the flex SDK and flexunit on a windows XP box so I can see what the output should be and how the whole system works before trying to inject it into my CI system.

  • Steps to make FLEX SDK 3.0 build working for Linux

    Take Windows Flex 3.0 SDK
Copy to Linux system, go to folder Flex 3.0_SDK/b
Look for file compc & mxmlc
Change Dos to Unix files using command      dos2unix
    dos2unix  compc
    dos2unix  mxmlc
    For compc : line - 47
    java $VMARGS -jar "$FLEX_HOME/lib/compc.jar" +flexlib="$FLEX_HOME/frameworks" "$@"
    change it to >> "$@" > $@
    java $VMARGS -jar "$FLEX_HOME/lib/compc.jar" +flexlib="$FLEX_HOME/frameworks" $@
    For mxmlc : line - 47
    java $VMARGS -jar "$FLEX_HOME/lib/mxmlc.jar" +flexlib="$FLEX_HOME/frameworks" "$@"
    change it to >> "$@" > $@
    java $VMARGS -jar "$FLEX_HOME/lib/mxmlc.jar" +flexlib="$FLEX_HOME/frameworks" $@
    5. Make sure before firing the build that the SDK home is given correctly in build.properties file.
In case of any issues , please feel free to mail me your queries.
Incase of any issues in reading the article, please see the attachment which contains a document explaing it.
    As well as build.properties & Build.xml files.

You can do two things. First, the SDK 3.2 code should work fine for your application. It doesn't contain SDK 3.2, it is just linked against it but there shouldn't be any API changes that would cause you grief.
    http://flexunit.digitalprimates.net:8080/view/Flex%203.2/
However, if you do want to build it yourself (and you only need the SDK) the easiest way is actually to build it with FlexBuilder. Basically, inside of your Flex Builder just import a General Project (not the flex specific import menu) and choose the directory where the FlexUnit4 library was downloaded. Flex Builder should build that library fine and produce a swc which you can then use.
Last thing, if you need to stick with SDK 3.0 then no worries. However, if there is any way you can upgrade to a newer SDK I would recommend it. There have been some seriously hideous bugs fixed since then.

  • Flash Builder doesn't rebuild the project everytime I modify the code

    Hi,
Flash Builder doesn't rebuild the project everytime I modify the code.
I find myself chasing ghosts when trying to debug my project. Flash Builder 4.0 doesn't rebuild my project after every change I make.
The "Project - Build Automatically" is of course selected. To make sure the problem is real I ran "Project - Build All" several times. Nothing helped.
For example, I am using a boolean constant to select different code in an if block. Even if I change the value of the boolean, When I debug the code, I see that the constant's value doesn't change. Only If I log out login again, FB will rebuild my code.
This happens too many times and it is very confusing to debug, when you don't know if the result now is with or without your changes.
    It also affects the following:
    - breakpoints that are set or disabled are not taken into account and the debugger will skip them even if they are set or stop on them if they are disabled.
    - the debugger stops the debug on empty lines, if those lines previously contained code.
    - When I comment out the declaration of variables. Eclipse doesn't recognize them and doesn't show any hint on them when you hold the CTRL key and hover over, but while in debug mode, when you hover over the variable instance, its shows a value for it.
    Thanks for your help.
    Bye,
    RaamEE-IL

The problem is with the SDK settings selected for the Compiler.
Try going to 'Project' > 'Properties' > 'ActionScript Compiler'.
Now, in the 'Flex SDK section', try changing the SDK. Click on 'Apply'.
This will force FB to rebuild all settings for the project.
You can try again. FB should now have started compiling with latest code changes again.
Please Note: This is not a permanent fix though!
In case the problem re-occurs, you'll need to again perform the steps mentioned above to get FB back on track.

  • Change Build Output Filename for SSIS Project

I have a Visual Studio 2010 solution (TxMExtractLoad) with two SSIS projects: TxMExtractLoad.Discovery and TxMExtractLoad.Contract1.  The project name (in project properties) is set to the proper two-part name in each project.  However, when I
do a "Build", the generated .ispac file loses the second part of the project name: both projects build to "TxMExtractLoad.ispac" (in different directories, fortunately).
I can see where I can change the output *path* for the build, but not the output *filename*.
    Any help, anyone?
    Thanks in advance...

Came across this post whilst encountering the same issue and thought i would post the solution i discovered
The ispac will get its name from the Name defined in the project properties minus whatever is following the final name part
Therefore, your SSIS package of TxMExtractLoad.Discovery will become TxMExtractLoad.ispac
If you change the name in project properties to something like TxMExtractLoad.Discovery.myProject
or TxMExtractLoad.Discovery..ispac then when you build it it will build as TxMExtractLoad.Discovery.ispac
    Hope this helps
