Flex builder 3 - clean build

I am having problems with Flex builder 3 not building
correctly.
It does incremental builds - to reduce compilation time on
individual changes I assume - but quite often gets it wrong and
produces a whole stack of invalid errors.
I've tried the build clean function but that doesn't seem to
actually perform a full build clean. It only resolves these issues
some of the time. I can mess around with the code - deleting and
then un-deleting lines that are throwing up errors, or sometimes
renaming the main style sheet - which usually fixes it. But this is
a constant drain on my productivity and sometimes no amount of
messing around will help. In those cases only exporting the entire
code base and creating a new project resolves the issue. (I would
guess because this forces a completely clean build)
Does anyone know of a way to either eliminate this problem
alltogether or failing that perform a full clean build through the
builder.
I'm guessing a customised any build script may be the
solution, but I've never created one of these.

jfb, I tried all that but to no avail.
Devtron, am not using SVN ! I'm using the Flex Builder standalone version.
Thanks guys for your replies. I just ran out of patience and just started working with FB4 and all is going great !
Thanks again

  • Database driver worked before a "clean" build

    Before I accidentally did a clean build on my project, everything was working fine. My application uses a MySQL database driver to connect to my server. I accidentally did a clean build and it wiped out the added JAR file for the database driver. I went in an re-added the driver and now when it goes to connect to my database, I get:

    That's the problem though. The JAR file is in my
    class path. I followed the exact same proceedure as
    when I first set it up, but now it isn't working.The most likely reason is that you think it is in your class path when it actually isn't.
    You can print the System properties to determine what class path the java app is using. I am not sure that completely eliminates possibilities however as the Sun VM, at least in the past, would stop looking on the class path if any problems were encountered (like a missing directory in the middle.)

    Hi Mitul,
    Thanks for your reply.
    It’s strange, if your old build definitions can work using the same TFS Build Server, that indicate your TFS Server configuration is correct and can works. But only new build definition with default TfvcTemplate.12.xaml template cannot build successful.
    Please share your TFS Server detailed environment information here. And share your
    Build Service Properties dialog screenshot here.
    Try to clean the Cache for TFS 2013 manually(delete the content of the folder only, not the cache folder itself):
    Clean the Cache folder on Server machine. The folder path is:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Team Foundation Server 12.0\Application Tier\Web Services\_tfs_data.
    After cleaned, on Server machine, click Start and select
    Run… to open the dialog box, then input iisreset.exe and click OK, wait it run completely.
    Additionally, you can run the TFS 2013 Power Tools BPA to scan the installation of your TFS Server.

  • 1310 Bridge-Building to Building advice.

    I am looking at implementing building to building wireless using Cisco 1310 bridges. This would be a backup link between the 2 buildings. The primary link is 3 T-1's. There are about 250 users connecting back here for application and internet. I am assuming that since the speed over the wireless is more than the existing T-1's that there shouldn't be a problem with latency. Am I missing anything with my thinking?
    Thanks

    Hey there,
    If you use a BR1310 to cover 3 T1s you should be fine.
    The BR1310 can get up to 54mbs (28mbs in reality due the the nature of half duplex devices such as these bridges).So even with less than ideal signal quality and strength you should have no problem getting that kind of throughput.Ideal links get in the low to mid 20s.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Aaron

    OFDM is a physical layer encoding technology for transmitting signals through the RF. This method breaks one high-speed data carrier into several lower-speed carriers that transmit in parallel across the particular RF spectrum. OFDM, when used with various modulation types such as 802.11g and 802.11a, is capable of supporting data rates as high as 54 Mbps.

    I am definitely not doing something right.

  • Connecting Smart Builds as build in/build out partners

    I asked this question earlier in the thread, but felt I should simplify it: In Keynote 5 (iWork 09), I'm unable to connect two smart builds with a build in/build out as I could in Keynote 4 (iWork 08). By connect, I'm referring to this:
    In Keynote 08, this worked perfectly, because I would simply highlight the "build in" of the second Smart Build in the Build Order drawer, and below "Start Build" I would select "Automatically with Build 3" from the pull-down menu. This would, in Keynote 08, put a small line going down and to the right, showing its association with the previous step. And the flipped item exiting the screen on the right would be in obvious motion with the as-yet-unflipped item just entering the screen from the left--though they didn't get near each other.
    When I attempt to select "Automatically with Build 3" in Keynote 09, it momentarily allows me to select that phrase when I pull the menu down, but it instantly reverts to "Automatically after Build 3" when I let go, as if to say "You can't do that, son!" It stubbornly refuses to group its action (move in) with the previous step (previous item's move out), even though in Keynote 08 it worked perfectly. In fact, I took the original file to a machine on my network that has Keynote 08, and it still works perfectly.
    See my earlier post here for additional info: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2793648&tstart=0

    Thank you Mark.  I had my build in marker after and my build out marker before the animation.
    I did manage to fix to the problem, or perhaps it is more accurately described as a workaround since I really don't understand why my original approach did not work.  The way I got it to work was to create a clone of the effect source and apply the behaviours to the clone.  Now the animations work as they should.
    Thank you for taking the time to provide assistance.  It is appreciated.

  • BlazeDS locking $ProjectName-debug folder and not allowing flex builder to build project

    Hi all,
    Im new to Flex. I'm trying to setup my development environment. What I've noticed is that when blazeds is started and I run a flex project, it creates a folder in the blazeds root folder named $ProjectName-debug (replace $ProjectName with the actual project name). Once this folder is created, and the flash page is accessed, it cannot be deleted until blazeds is actually stopped. The files on that folder seem to be locked. While this folder is locked, eclipse cannot seem to re-build the project (specifically clean). Thus every small change I make to the project, I'm currently having to stop blazeds, clean the flex project, start blazeds, run the flex project.What makes things worse is that I have to start our application along with blazeds so it can retrieve the data from the app (which takes a few minutes).
    I'm wondering if other people are having to go through this pain or if they've figured out a way to get around this. I would ideally like to have a way where I'm able to rebuild the project and hit f5 and reload the page and see the changes. I understand this is not possible with debug.
    If anyone has figured out a way to incorporate blazeds to their development environment in a more practical way, please let me know. We just switched from tapestry/gwt to flex. We used to be able to update on the go thus development was much simpler.
    Regards,
    Udam

    if you see a red error in your "problems" tab inside
    flexbuilder, your project most likely will not be built fully, or
    correctly, in that case running that project does not makes sense
    at all, you need to make sure "problems" tab is clear of errors
    (you might see warnings, but they are not very harmful) .if ther is
    no errors, hitting ctrl+B builds the project and choosing Project
    --> Clean ... clears output folder and rebuilds the project P.S
    Unless you uncheck checkbox that says "automatically build project
    after clean".
    IMHO, turn off Auto Build and manualy build the project that
    will take care of most issues, plus use (project --> clean) when
    you need to make sure you have latest build .
    Kind Regards
    Levan.

    Somewhere in your pom.xml where you are configuring your build dependancies there will be a line <scope>caching</scope> this line is configuring the build to use a flex runtime shared library. This line is generating the error because caching is not a valid dependancy scope in maven 3 however mojos uses it anyway. There was a defect opened against flexmojos; I've linked it below. Froeder's response to the issue was that it was not fixable, that the warning is expected and that we'll have to live with it for now.

  • Is Adobe Flex suitable to build a Multimedia Presentation?

    I am looking for some advice on the suitability of using
    Adobe Flex for building a Multimedia presentation system. I have
    watched numerous videos about Flex and even tried some tutorials
    but before I make a decision on Technologies for a project I am
    working on, I wanted to consult the Flex community for some advice.
    I have to take Multimedia Presentation made using PowerPoint
    and build it into a custom made Multimedia Presentation that has
    similar functionality. Would Adobe Flex would be a suitable tool?
    The Presentation must be viewable on the Internet and be deployed
    to the Desktop so combining Flex with Adobe AIR would be needed to
    meet this requirement.
    I guess the general requirements are as follows:-
    The user must be able to navigate forward and backward
    through pages of the presentation.
    The Presentation must be able to display Flash video's. When
    video is played, the video must open in a new window infront of the
    main application. Images and animated GIF'S must have the same
    functionality.
    Based on these requirements, would Flex be suitable?
    Thanks in advance for you help and advice.

    I think Flex would be very suitable for building a multimedia
    presentation system. Once you create your Flex app and generate the
    SWF file, you can post it on the web, or view it on the desltop,
    even without AIR. You could use view states to transition between
    pages, though you would have other options as well. You could
    display Flash videos easily, and I believe you could have the video
    open in a new top window. Same with images and gifs. Flex would be
    a very good choice I believe.

  • Flex 4 Release Build breaks text editor

    I was working on an editor using FB4 beta 2. Fonts were loaded at runtime ... CFF is being used.
    In Flex 4 SDK that comes with FB4 beta 2, my spark rich text field sitting in a group in my application looks fine - proper font families applied and renders correctly. My font + style drop down lists are all fine as well.
    As soon as I switch to the release SDK, or any SDK later than FB4 beta 2 (well, major releases) the font styles are not longer properly applied to the field. Changes to the family no longer apply to the rich text field.
    The rich editable text that I'm using is basically as follows:
                    <s:RichEditableText id="editor" fontLookup="embeddedCFF" renderingMode="cff"
                                        focusEnabled="false" x="100" y="50" focusIn="focusInEditor(event)" focusOut="focusOutEditor(event)"
                                        width="300" height="200">
                        <s:textFlow>
                            <s:TextFlow fontFamily="HelveticaNeueLTStd-MdCn">
                                <s:p fontFamily="HelveticaNeueLTStd-MdCn" fontSize="14" color="0x999999">Test first line of text</s:p>
                                <s:p fontFamily="HelveticaNeueLTStd-Blk" fontSize="18" color="0xFFFFFF">Test second line of text</s:p>
                            </s:TextFlow>
                        </s:textFlow>
                    </s:RichEditableText>
    That probably isn't too important but I figured I would paste it anyway. I'm using setFormatOfRange primarily and this block of textFlow was only to get some initial content into the text area.
    There is a ton of other related code for editing, selection, etc. It seems any font family related change does not get applied.
    I know there have been a ton of changes and this may be difficult to pin down. However, this is pretty awkward. The application I was building loaded up fine, fonts loaded up all fine and all editing worked perfectly until going to release SDK.
    Is there any change that would cause this to happen?

    Ok, so I finally got it working but this is not ideal at all. Adobe really needs to give us some direction on how to properly deal with font embedding and TLF now that the release build breaks all functionality with loading runtime fonts and TLF.
    Problem:
    I am embedding collections of fonts (faces) into single family classes. Each individual face is registered with Font.registerFont(). I need to do this because I have to have mixed fonts within text flows - at least according to Alex H's recent blog post.
    Fonts do not display in TLF without doing the following:
    1. GlobalSettings.resolveFontLookupFunction = null;
    2. editor.textFlow.flowComposer.swfContext = ISWFContext(this.getFontContext("AnyFamilyNameFromAnyFontEmbedded", false, false, FontLookup.EMBEDDED_CFF));
    3. Instead of #2, use editor.textFlow.invalidateAllFormats();
    Either #2 or #3 need to be performed. If I have a spark richEditableText control in MXML with defined familes from the loaded fonts. I even tried placing the control into a separate state so it wasn't created until after the fonts were loaded... I still needed to invalidate the formats or set the context.
    The "AnyFamilyNameFromAnyFontEmbedded" does not need to be all of the embedded family names. It only needs to be one of them. Once one is used, all embedded fonts work. Also, I have to use the internal namespace to even get access to getFontContext, another oddity that, in my humble opinion, should never be necessary to create mixed style TLF content.
    My questions are then:
    1. Why am I required to use ISWFContext if I am using Font.registerFont()?
    2. Why is GlobalSettings.resolveFontLookupFunction = null; also required for this to work?
    3. What is the recommended workflow to embed fonts from multiple SWF files into the release build and have it work without having to jump through all these hoops?

  • Flex builder 3 build release version error

    Hi am a developer in flex for not too long. I am in a project that we use Flex 3 as our development tool in which we use external Actionscript classes and flash CS5 components (.swc) as well. Just recently the graphic team upgraded from CS5.0 to CS 5.5 and for some reason after they export the swc file from the flash source, I was not able to compile the flex project anymore throwing this error:
    "  Encountered errors or warnings while building project gTechLearning.as.
        gTechLearning.as: unable to load SWC C:\Documents and Settings\rhampton\My Documents\Flex Builder 3\learning\libs\_assets.swc ".
    So my question is simple, can anyone help me understand what is the cause of this error? Does it have anything to do with the version upgrade of the Adobe Creative Suite?
    Thanks,
    Ray H

    Ok, solved the problem. Found answer from here:
    http://forum.fluorinefx.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3
    I installed LCDS Express and then added fds.swc to my project
    from LCDS-folder.
