Flex charting components

Hello,
Is there any free flex charting plugins similar to the paid charting component iLog Elixir?
regards
kk

Thanks very much for your reply, unfortunately I could not find a chart which fits my requirement.
Pl. find attached a screenshot which i generated using Advanced data grid control. It takes lot of time and effort to work with data grids and they are not that flexible. So can you suggest any charting component which satisfy my requirement?
Pl. find attached the screenshot.
1) I require horizontal and vertical scrolling
2) rowspan and colspan features
3) Colour the cells to represent an object
4) Ability to drag a coloured portion from one place to another with in the chart.
etc...

  • I have FB 3 Pro. Yet I'm still seeing the watermarks in my Flex chart components

    Hey guys,
I've been having this issue with the watermark on charts for a while. I recently found a page that suggests statically setting your license key by adding it to the 'license.properties' file. I did this. Yet, I'm still seeing watermarks in my compiled SWFs.
Is there anything I can do to resolve this? It's driving me crazy!

    Hi,
What does "still won't work" mean?  Flash Player 10.3.183.90 is very old.  You might find that many sites require a newer version of Flash Player to view content, perhaps this is what you mean by "still won't work".   Depending on your system, you may be able to upgrade to OS X 10.6 which will enable you to install the newest version of Flash Player.  There's lots of information on this on the internet.  Just search for "upgrade OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6" or similar.

  • Using flex 2.0 charting components with flex 3

I purchased and installed a flex 2 charting components
library so i could use it in my AIR application development. It
installed alongside the 3.0 beta visualization components so that I
now have two copies of each component in my charts folder. I can't
see how to ensure that the right library is used so that the charts
actually appear when i run my app. I'd hate to think i just threw
away $300 so any help would be greatly appreciated - .

Are you using Flex Builder 3? Flex 3.0 beta Data
visualization components are available as part of FB 3 only. You
can select either 2.0.1 hotfix 3 charts (consists of only
charts.swc) or 3.0.0 data visualization (consists of
datavisualization.swc). through multiple sdks feature of FB3. For
flex 3 beta, flex 2 charting key will work. so if you want to try
out new features in charts and new components like Advanced data
grid you can switch to 3.0.0 sdk and use same flex 2 charting key
    to remove watermark from charts.

  • No Flex Charts with SDK 3.5

Hi guys.  I am experiencing a problem with not being able to use Flex's chart components with sdk 3.5
    I have Flex Builder Professional.
Charts work with the 3.0 and 3.2 SDK but not 3.5
    Am I missing something?

I found out that the library is not bundled with the SDK itself and has to be downloaded separate.  I downloaded the library here http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flex/sdk/datavisualization_sdk3.5.zip

  • Burrito mobile project charting components

I have a problem when trying to use the charting components in a Flex Hero mobile project with Flash Builder Burrito.
The release notes(http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Flex_SDK_Hero) of Flex Hero state that the charting components aren't included in a mobile project by default, but that you can add the swc's manually.
So I created a new "Flex Mobile Project" in Burrito and added the charting swc's (datavisualization.swc and mx.swc) to the project. But when I try to use the Barchart component or any other chart component I get errors in my Flex application because it cannot resolve the component.
I have a feeling this problem has something to do with the com.adobe.flexide.project.multiplatform.multiplatformnature used in the .project file in a mobile project, but I'm not 100% sure.
Anyone else having this problem and is there any way to resolve this problem?

ok, so here's another problem with charting in a mobile project... if I'm not mistaken there's a problem with the mobile skin.
Although this renders (if you have the datavisualisation.swc and mx.swc and sparkskins.swc in your libs folder) you will not see any text on the axis or in the tooltips.   Does anybody have an explanation and solution?  I'm not understand how the skinning is put together in spark :

  • Charting components for actionscript project

    hi -
I have an actionscript project going (ie, not flex) and I want to use some kind of charting components
I'm complining as desktop appilication, ie, I am running on the AIR platform
because it's an actionscript-only project I dont think I can use any of the mx.* classes -- is this true? would be good to confirm that
given that, I think my only option is to find a third-part charting package that's AS3-only
    any suggestions?
    thanks

Tried compiling it using the FlexBuilder IDE? There's nothing
wrong with your code, so it sounds like your compiler doesn't know
where to find the libraries, or is looking in the wrong place. Are
you giving an explicit library-path argument?

  • Flex Charts: Will they improve?

    Hello!
I'm trying to make some minimalistic charts for some ultimate PDF business plans and annual reports. I did them in Illustrator first, but Illustrator's graph tool hasn't been developed on since 1996, and it was a real pain to update my charts as the numbers changed. With Flex though, I can just generate charts based on XML that I output from my business models in OpenOffice. Plus they look real good and are interactive.
It seems though, that everyone I talk to say that Flex Charts suck. That they were made by people who didn't follow standards. Personally I love Flex Charts, although I'm not a big fan of having a lot of "Wait for improved CSS support", "Should be CSS" etc. comments in my code:
    https://gist.github.com/1623621
    https://gist.github.com/1623625
    https://gist.github.com/1623628
Does anybody know if this is about to change? Are there any new Flex charting libraries in the making?
    --Dwayne
P.S. If you can, please forward this post to as many Flex developers as you can.

Flex is now an Apache project (http://incubator.apache.org/flex/) and the future of the charting components will be determined by the open-source community there. However, I think Adobe may contribute some unreleased work that it has done towards a Spark version of the charting components.

  • Flex Chart -- Why is it so buggy and not getting fixed

    Hi
We are trying to replace our realtime dashborad with flex
3.x charts. We're getting hit with numereous memory issues such as
    http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FLEXDMV-1686
    http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-15710
Bugs have been filed since April and no updates from Adobe at
    all.
At the current state Flex chart is only good for displaying
    static data that doesn't change.
Why is this not in flex's high priority list given the fact
that one of the major allure of flex (besides multi-media of
course) right now is charting on the client to off load server
    load?
Why is the flex charting group so unresponsive to bugs filed
given the fact that people are shedding quite a bit of mulla to get
    this functionality??

I'm attaching here the section from sdk-15710 (flex jira)
where numerous people have been asking for the availability of this
bug fix which have gone unanswered.
Hoping someone from adobe will have some answers.

We're in need of this fix as well. Can you give some
indication as to when it might be ready for consumption, or if it
already is how we might be able to get it? (Also any comment on
FLEXDMV-1882 would be appreciated as well). Thanks.

On the Adobe site, there are two bugs that seem to be the
cause of the memory leak we are seeing when using the Flex Charting
package with 3.0 Flex, running on Windows XP Pro SP2. Both are
recorded as Fixed, and one is also noted as Closed. Still we are
seeing what looks like one or both of these bugs.
Adobe Flex community: How do we verify for certain that we
are running versions of Flex containing these fixes? What version
has fixes for both cases? How do we make sure?
Please provide more information in the JIRA issues for both
bugs. Obviously these are of interest to the developer community,
given the follow-up posts and the number of Voters and Watchers.

  • Save flex chart to server

    Hello All
I am in need of your help in saving a flex chart on to the server. Basically I want to export the chart to excel, as I dont find any resource for Flash builder 4, SDK 3.5, I opted the option of 1. saving chart as image to server and 2. accessing that image file in my excel
Any sample codes should be very helpful, as this is quite urgent. Thanks!

The problem was, that it is not possible to see the pdf directly from transaction AL11.
I used the transaction CG3Y to move the file from the server to my desktop, and there I can see the pdf file.
    Solved
    Thanks for the input.

  • Flex chart x-axis data spacing

    hello

if a mouse if placed over it, not just the X & Y data points.
    thank you for any assistance.

you mentioned about using min/max values on the x-axis. That
is a good solution except i would then need to add buttons to say
    ,show the next 30 days.
I really want to to show 90days of data data, with say 30

I don't know what you mean then.
If you set the min and max to be a certain number of days
apart then you know the dates within those days will be displayed.
That combined with the width of the chart will define how much
space there is between x-axis points.

  • Chart Components : Option to select a item for drill down by Label name

    Hi
Currently for all Chart components in Xcelsius in Drill down mode we do not have the option to insert the X Axis Label values by selecting the Label on the X- Axis. It is made mandatory that we should click on any of the Series and that too we get only Position or Value but not Label.
Why should some one necessarily click on a particular series to drill down. Why cant he drill down by just clicking on x axis label. This seems to be a general requirement but I did not find this option. Am I missing something?
I want to check whether if we will do have the option to select the label name by just clicking on the X-axis labels.
Please note: I know the other alternatives of getting the label by enabling a series and inserting the position and using some label based menu to derive the Label.

    hi
    then do like this
dont use drill down option for that.
take push buttons and one combo box.
place those pushbuttons into X-Axis Labels and transparent them.
combobox is used for dynamic Data Retrival.
in ComboBox Component behavior properties you have option Selected Item(Type and Item) in that item should be map to Pushbutton Destination cell.
you will get data as per your Requirement(Like you can drill down from X-axis Labels).

  • Flex mxml components should be private by default

Flex mxml components should be private by default. Does adobe
plan to fix this in future versions?

Just noticed this and I think he may have a valid point here.
But as well as reducing coupling the term I'd use to make this
    argument is
    encapsulation.
There's no way AFAIK to make MXML sub components invisible to
higher level components. This can sometimes reveal things
internally that you don't want messed with, within a custom
component. If you have a custom component that only requires
one property be set to configure it properly, you don't want
to be revealing all these extra sub-components just because they
had to have ids assigned to them inside the custom component.
This may be a headache for backwards compatibility, for
anyone who has assumed these components would be public by default,
but a simple "scope='public'" attribute should fix that. But even
having them public by default, and allowing us to set their scope
to private would be helpful at times.
