Flex Project Inside Flex Project???

Im working on a Air project but i cant seem to get a componet working within that project. I can how ever get it working as a standalone project. What im wondering now is what are my options for embeding this flex project with my main project??

You can compile it into a swf from the standalone project and then load it into your Flex project using SWFLoader. Does that work for you?

Is there a way to "nest" one project inside another?
I dont know how to do it in FCPX.

Select the contents and press Option-G. You'll then get a dialog asking you where to save the compound clip. You can then place that compound clip inside any other project. To edit inside the compound you double clip it to open it. This is pretty much the way it was in legacy FCP. The nested compound however is not fully recursive. It does not ripple the length of the project it's netsed in.

BlazeDS locking $ProjectName-debug folder and not allowing flex builder to build project

Hi all,
Im new to Flex. I'm trying to setup my development environment. What I've noticed is that when blazeds is started and I run a flex project, it creates a folder in the blazeds root folder named $ProjectName-debug (replace $ProjectName with the actual project name). Once this folder is created, and the flash page is accessed, it cannot be deleted until blazeds is actually stopped. The files on that folder seem to be locked. While this folder is locked, eclipse cannot seem to re-build the project (specifically clean). Thus every small change I make to the project, I'm currently having to stop blazeds, clean the flex project, start blazeds, run the flex project.What makes things worse is that I have to start our application along with blazeds so it can retrieve the data from the app (which takes a few minutes).
I'm wondering if other people are having to go through this pain or if they've figured out a way to get around this. I would ideally like to have a way where I'm able to rebuild the project and hit f5 and reload the page and see the changes. I understand this is not possible with debug.
If anyone has figured out a way to incorporate blazeds to their development environment in a more practical way, please let me know. We just switched from tapestry/gwt to flex. We used to be able to update on the go thus development was much simpler.

if you see a red error in your "problems" tab inside
flexbuilder, your project most likely will not be built fully, or
correctly, in that case running that project does not makes sense
at all, you need to make sure "problems" tab is clear of errors
(you might see warnings, but they are not very harmful) .if ther is
no errors, hitting ctrl+B builds the project and choosing Project
--> Clean ... clears output folder and rebuilds the project P.S
Unless you uncheck checkbox that says "automatically build project
after clean".
IMHO, turn off Auto Build and manualy build the project that
will take care of most issues, plus use (project --> clean) when
you need to make sure you have latest build .

Creating a project in Flex Builder for the Hybrid Store sample Application

Hi all,
How to create a project in Flexbuilder for the hybrid store
sample application.
I downloaded the source code of hybridstore application,
Now i have to create a project for it to run that application
in my system,
will you please tell me how to create a project for this
sample.
I have also read the readme.html file. but i could not follow
exactly what they are saying.
what i did is, I unzipped the source code into a folder
hybridstore.
I opened the flexbuilder : File -- new -- flexproject ( i
have selected) then i have given name to my file (hybridstore) ,
and set the path to the hybridstore folder where the source code
exists.
but it as created hybridstore.mxml file also.
it is not working.
will you please till me how to create project for this
application.
I have created project for other samples like restaurent
finder, dashboard. they are working fine.
I got problem with this sample only.

Flex Builder 3 New Project

I am trying to get Flex Builder 3 setup but having some
problems configuring it to communicate with the app server. I had
this working once but cannot get it back. Flex builder is installed
on my XP machine and CF is installed on my Redhat 5 box with
Apache.
Here are my steps:
1. Create new flex project
2. Project Name: myfirstflex.
3. Project location: N:\myfirstflex (mapped to samba share)
This is actually /var/www/html/myfirstflex on the RH box.
4. Application Type: Web Application(runs in Flash Player)
5. Server Technology: Coldfusion. Use remote access service
is checked. LCDS is selected at the moment but does not seem to
matter which one is selected.
6. Server Location: Standalone
7. Coldfusion Root Folder: O:\WEB-INF\flex (samba share on RH
box) This is actually /opt/coldfusion8/wwwroot/WEB-INF/flex.
8. WebRoot: N:\myfirstflex (same as step 3)
9. Root URL:
http://myserver/myfirstflex
Upon on validation I get " Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex
folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml."
Like I said I had this working once but cannot get it back. Does
anyone see something I am overlooking?

This is the error because the runtime does not find any way to call Java script that usally is called through External interface. So my guess is you are using a AIR project. U just need to download the latest swc http://code.google.com/p/facebook-actionscript-api/downloads/list for destop in your case and don't forget to but FBJSBridge.js to put in your source that will b used to help AS call Facebook API from AIR runtime

My only way to continue is to start a new mobile project, import the files and continue. This is not an acceptable way to design any mobile project!! HELP!!

Design view not working after importing project from Flex Builder

After importing a project from Flex Builder to Flash Builder I am no longer able to see anything in the design view. I am using the flex 4.5 sdk.
Any idea how I can get this design view working? I heard it could have something to do with the metadata directory but am slightly lost here?...

Could you please provide more information as to what exactly are you importing. Also does Design View not lauch at all or does it give errors. Would it be possible for you to share the logs.
Meanwhile you can try cleaning the workspace and importing again to see if that solves the issue.

Tutorial for creating a J2EE project with "Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 " ?

I'm trying to set up a Flex environment with:
Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 stand alone
WTP (from eclipse update manager)
LCDS 2.5 (with JRun)
JBoss 4.2.2GA
At this moment I successful installed everything (but not set up). I added WTP at Flex Builder3 (with the eclipse update manager). I copied the two flex-tomcat files in jboss.
Then in Flex Builder 3 I created a new Flex Project. In the wizard first window, I selected J2EE, Livecycle and WTP. Then in the next window I need to configurate the J2EE server.
I couldn't find any information/tutorial for this window? Is there a tutorial for this?
This window ask me:
Target Runtime: I created a new one for JBoss 4.2.2 (during this process flex builder asked me to add a project but actually I'm creating this project so I hadn't any project to add (??)).
ContextRoot: name of the project I'm creating (default). Is it good?
Content Folder: the default is "WebContent". Is it good?
Flex War File: What is that? Where do I find it?

The settings you mention all sound fine, but the I believe the Flex War file may be what you referred to as the flex-tomcat files (specifically the one should be called flex.war from the install folder).
You don't need to deploy the flex.war file to JBoss manually, when you create a project, you just select the file in the wizard and it is extracted and used as a template for the new project. In fact, it may cause a port conflict with your project if you do deploy manually it (unless you tweak some of the config files), so it's probably worth removing it from the deploy folder if you did put it there. The other file, flex-admin.war, can stay without causing issue.
The closest to a tutorial that I am aware of is if you search "New Flex Project" in the help system, it talks about what each of the options should be when creating LCDS projects.

How to compile flex builder project from flex sdk?

I built one flex project in flex builder, and need to change and maintain in an flex SDK environment.
I am wondering whether there is any tools in flex sdk to do so.

Flex mobile and PHP project

Hi! Recently I've downloaded the Flash Builder for PHP to work with my Zend Server remotely located in OpenShift online. I did not download and install the Zend Server physically on my computer. Hence, when creating the Flex mobile and PHP project, I couldn't find my web root address. Now I have an error connecting to the MySQl database in the server from the Flash Builder. Can someone help me with this? I'm new to using these programs.

PHP is server side.
If you want to have a app to function offline you would probably need sqlite and then code actionscript to synch data when the device regains it's connectivity.

Flex 4.5:Convert mxml project into IOS project for ipad and iphone

Hi All,
I created a mxml project and now i want to convert the same project in Flex builder 4.5 IOS project for iphone and ipad but its seems the mobile project doesnot support mxml.
I am using module and moduleloader and in Flex 4.5, they said the use of this is discourage. I didi not get any alternative of them.
Please help me to convert this application in IOS.

Shifting Flex project from Flex SDK 3.5 to Flex SDK 4.0

Hi,
I am currently working on a Flex project using Flex 3.5 SDK. I want to shift my project to Flex 4.0 SDK.
When I changed the project settings to use SDK 4.0, I got lot of unknown location errors.
1) 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: ImportExportConfiguration
2) 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method setSelection through a reference with static type mx.core.ITextInput
While the same code of flex was working satisfactorily in Flex SDK 3.5.
Please tell, how can I get rid of these error and successfully shift my project to Flex SDK 4.0.

While I am migrating my project from flex 3.5 to Flex 4, I have to keep the Flex 3 compatibility mode off and theme as Flex 4 default theme that is Spark.
Then while i compile I get foloowing errors:

What is the resolution for these, as for most of the controls there is no substitute to these properties. If I do not want ot change my <mx:> controls to <s:>controls because it will hamper my UI look and field, which I cannot afford to do.

Blank webpage when run project form Flex Development

When I Run my project in Flex Development to see how my changes look, I get a BLANK webpage.
I have dumped the browser's cache and deleted the SWF in the bin_debug folder.
Still get a blank page. Only way to see changes is to compile.
What gives?

I used to do
1. Ctrl + Shft + delete in Mozilla
2. Close project --> Clean project.
3. Ensure there are no more errors in project.
