FLV encoding

I want to have video on my website by allowing the users to
upload their own videos to the site. Right now we are allowing
upload of .avi and .mpeg files using the embed tag. The problem
with this method is that it is incompatible with most browsers
namely mozilla. It seems to work ok with IE but not any others. My
question is this, can FMS encode different video file formats like
.avi, .mpeg, .mov etc into .flv on the fly during upload or do I
have to encode them myself and then re upload them to the
server?

FMS cannot transcode video.
If you want to automate the conversion process, look into on2
flix engine or FFMPEG.

  • Flv encoding software in flex and AIR

    Hi,
I want to create an FLV encoding software which takes various
video files and encode them into flv format. Is there any
actionscript library or flv sdk for this? I saw the flash media
server but it is for online apps. I want to create an AIR app which
uses the local storage of the user.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

The best bet you have is porting the ffmpeg library to actionscript via Alchemy.  Otherwise, there is no library availble for client side video conversion.... that I know of...

  • A suitable FLV encoding equivelant for FCP

My web designer wishes to post undownloadable video streams on a website, he asked for FLV files similar to Youtube, he also said he can create a round shaped screen to house these streams.
I think FLV encoding is available on Adobe Premiere, can anyone suggest an equivelant on FCP?

Flash is Adobe's product, not Apple's.
So there isn't an equivalent on FCP.
However, there are several Mac flash encoders available on the internet
Just do a search and you'll find a bunch

  • FLV encoder crashes on all .WMV files

When trying to view the settings or start que on any .wmv (windows Media Video) file I drag into the flash video encoder, the program immediately crashes.  I've tried many different WMV files from different sources, all the same outcome.
Is this a known issue with FLV encoder or something wrong on my end?  Hopefully I dont need to buy a 3rd party converter.
    Thanks for any insight!

Did you try file - import - import video?  That's what I just did with this wmv  http://www.charliegooddog.org/pinky/petOfWeek.html it worked for me that's with cs3.

  • Why is the flv encoder so slow?

I have a quad core q9450 that runs everything quite nicely and I can encode divX quite fast, but processing a .flv file even at fairly low rates (i.e. 320x240) is very slow. Is there a patch or something that is coming out that will allow it to utilize all processors and encode faster?

Is it slow compared to other devices.. ??
Give numbers.. cannot operate from general comments.
Is this 2.4ghz.. are you splitting the load over 2.4ghz and 5ghz??
Have you tried using SMB names.. short no spaces pure alphanumeric, with different name for 5ghz.
Lock the wireless channel for 2.4ghz and test 1, 6, 11 in turn.
Using WPA2 personal security only.. with 8-12 character passkey.. pure alphanumeric of course.

  • FLV encoding from FCP?

Any tips for software (not too expensive) for encoding FLV direct from FCP or Quicktime?

Nah - but with QuickTime Reference it is almost the same thing... Any reason why you are trying to stay in FCP? I encode all day and usually try and get out of FCP for encoding via QuickTime reference... Not only does it bypass tying up FCP (in version 6 or below) but I have less issues with the encodes.
I had another thought - Make something like this: H.264 Main Profile, 5 Mbps max., 1280×720 max., 30 fps max. Audio: AAC-LC, stereo, 128 Kbps, 48 kHz. Then change its file extension to FLV.
    See what happens.

  • CS3 FLV Encode - Metadata "undefined"

    Hey all -
I've recently picked up flash again after a few years, and
I'm trying to work with FLVs. I've been using the "import video"
command in CS3 to encode the FLV files; it's been working great up
until now when my video payer swfs have been hard-wired. However,
now I would like to get into the nitty gritty and create a more
    dynamic player.
My problem seems to be that CS3 is not encoding metadata into
the files. I started trying to get videoheight/videowidth, but when
i trace the whole metadata it's undefined, undefined, undefined et
al. I've seen tools on the internet to view/insert metadata, but
they're all PC programs and I'm stuck on a mac here.
Is this something about the new flv implementation? Has
    anyone else had this problem?
    Thanks so much!

How are you loading the xml file?

  • FLV encoding headaches continue

Let me start by saying I'm so tired of dealing with the hit
or miss, black magic nature of encoding to FLV that I'm considering
redoing a video heavy website in a non-Flash format. Why is it so
ridiculously easy to encode a Quicktime to any one of a dozen
settings, while FLV's remain a mystery to even the most experienced
    web and video people?
Here's my problem, I'm encoding an uncompressed Quicktime to
FLV for a website. These are showreel pieces so they have to be top
quality. This is my 8th time out doing this, I long ago gave up
trying to do the encoding myself and have had numerous very
qualified people give it a go with only mediocre results. I finally
found someone who deals with web video encoding for a living and he
gave it a shot and got satisfactory results (no where near as nice
looking as even a compressed Quicktime, but good enough.)
I'm trying to add another video to the site and this time we
can't get it to even an acceptable level. The source was an
uncompressed QT out of FCP, roughly 3BG's that looked perfect. The
video has a lot of handheld camera work and now the FLV has a ton
of striation every time the camera moves, i.e. it looks like the
video fields are out of alignment.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this? I'd be curious to hear
what FME settings people have had good results with, and/or if
there are certain Quicktime settings that cause a problem when
encoding. It seems like everyone I've met who deals with FME
regards it as temperamental and not the best quality, but the only
choice out there. What do you guys think?
    Thanks

  • FLV encoding software....

Hi all - just wondering if Flash Video 8 Encoder is available
as a stand-alone piece of software? We use the full studio
internally, but want to offer our clients the ability to encode
their own videos for use within a tailor-made CMS we'd build for
them. I've done a search around the net and the Adobe site, but it
would appear the only way of doing it would be to obtain a full
version of Flash 8 for them - surely there's another way?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Adam

Sorenson Squeeze Pro is one standalone piece of sofware that
    I use.

It isn't much cheaper then just buying Flash 8 Pro but it
does do what you want and more.

  • Audio plays too fast in Flash 8 FLV encoded from Quicktime MOV

I'm rendering out from VT4 (Newtek Video Toaster) to a
Quicktime MOV file that is re-encoded in the Flash 8 media encoder.
In the past I've used the 32 bit floating point audio format coming
out of VT4, which worked when playing just a MOV file. But now,
when re-encoding the MOV file in Flash 8, the audio runs fast, or
is maybe truncated somehow so it sounds that way.
I have several choices for a MOV audio format, is there one
that Flash 8 media encoder is 'wanting' to see?
    Thanks,

  • Hardware to speed up flv encoding?

    Hello,
Has anyone had any experience with a card that will speed up
the conversion from DVD (.VOB) to .FLV? I have to convert hundreds
of hours of video, and am looking for a non-software way of
speeding this up. I am using a Windows-based PC, btw.
    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Do a search on this forum and the web in general. This has been discussed to death just like when to use MP rendering or not. We had 2 similar threads just last week. AE is still a CPU centric app and for "regular rendering" all the fancy GPU stuff doesn't matter one way or the other, especially with legacy CoDecs liek QT Animation or whatever...

  • Configure Live streaming  FLV Encodering -- Adobe -- End user

    Hello,
WHile looking on the web, there are no clear cut instructions on how to configure adobe media server fro live streaming.
What I would like to do is take a streaming coming from alive  flv streaming source. Have adobe media server configured to allow users to connect to the media manager and watch the live stream.
Could someone provide directions on this?
    Thank you,

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 converted FLV files have sound but no picture

    Hi,
It would be great if anyone can help - I am using the latest trial version of Flash CS4. I have used the Media Encoder to convert mpg4 files to FLV however the resultant files play with sound but no picture - just a black screen. Is there a solution to this issue?

mostly this problem is caused by lacking of
some nessery codec. Which means when reencoding your video to flv, it can not generate the video.
Does Riva FLV encoder needs any extra codec? I am using Moyea Flash Video MX 6. It do not need any extra code. It needs in the former versions but in version 6 it can convert nearly any video format now.

  • FLV Export from Media Encoder

Hi, When I export an FLV from ME, the clip does not play or starts and then stops on Vital Streams servers. I can take the same clip, export a movie as AVI, then bring it into ON2's Flix Pro (using the same codec as ME FLV export is based on) and generate a perfect FLV with the same settings. Has anyone tried to export an FLV and then upload to a streaming server? I use this for clients to review their projects if they are long distance. Thanks for any direction.

Higher the bitrate the better the quality and file size. So the way I've been trying to work it out is literally, how large can a video be per minute and then depending on how long the video is I try and get it down to a certain video bitrate.
For me audio is important as well and so I'm essentially setting the audio bitrate to 128k.
Yes, your video does not play for me either. Is this video encoded using PPro CS3?
Essentially, the FLV files are intended to be played back using the Flash/Flex video player, and they do. I'm new to the whole "Flash" world as such (I'm Primarily a software programmer and not a designer) and so I don't know much about third party player/tools like Flix Pro.
What I can offer to do for you is make you a host like the one I'm made that you can use within your own website. If you'd give me the deminsions of the videos you produce (for online viewing) I can make you a player (no cost). It'll be my way of paying back this forum. If you send me an flv encoded using PPro CS3 that'll be even better :)
If you're a grpahics person, you could also send me png images of buttons and the like and I'll incorporate them into the flv player.

  • AVI - FLV with Flash Video Encoder

    Heya,
Whenever i try to encode Blizzards gameplay trailer of
Starcraft 2 to FLV, the program tells me that the movies doesnt
have a readable video track which seems to be a bit weird as it
plays fine in winamp/vlc player. To be honest the SC2 movie isnt
really the problem but it is just a general problem i encounter
with alot of AVI's outthere, would there be anyone around who
actually knows something about this problem? Is it a codec problem?
how do i fix it? or can i perhaps do something else?
    Thanks for your time!

you will need to re encode original video. Avi have many
different types of compression. your flv encoder probably does not
recognize it. Try re rendering it to avi with no compression for
settings. Then render to flv. Or you could try updating you version
of quicktime since flash encoder uses the same codecs as flv
    encoder.
