FLV problems

Hello, I've got some strange problems with flash 8 and
importing video files. The problems started yesterday with me
creating a streaming flv using the flv playback wizard, the file
worked for me locally and online but was not viewable to anyone
else, I got a version working for everyone but now I can't import
any videos to convert and get an error message when ever I try. In
terms of how we're set up i'm working locally in that all the files
are on our development server and then uploaded via ftp to the host
server, i'm thinking it could be something to do with the local
files being on our development server rather than my pc but i'm not
sure, has anyone else had similar problems? We tried uninstalling
flash 8 yesterday and putting it back on, afterwards it kept trying
to run the contribute installer when ever I right clicked on .avi
files. We then let it run the contribute installer and it gave an
error message halfway through about some file in flash. Any ideas
would be appreciated.

Oh boy. With Adobe Captivate at least, when you do an
uninstall and reinstall there are key folders that do not get
recreated and you manually have to move folders from the disk to
your HD. Hopefully this doesn't happen with Flash, but that may
take some investigating.
Some of the Adobe experts here have stated that going across
a server is a bad idea. Before you do any encoding move the file to
your local HD.
Lastly, post the exact error messages.

  • Loading FLV problem (NetStream)

    Hi all,
    I'm having some problems loading a FLV and I've been searching on google for 2 days now and I can't seem to find a anwser for my problem, maybe one of you guys can help me out here.
    here is the scenari I have a SWF that loads a FLV
    code:
    var videoConnection:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    videoConnection.connect(null);
    var videoStream:NetStream = new NetStream(videoConnection);
    var video:Video = new Video();
    videoStream.play("myVideo.flv");
    video.attachNetStream(videoStream);
    video.width = 720;
    video.height = 480;
    video.x = 0;
    video.y = 0;
    loaderVid_mc.x = 152;
    loaderVid_mc.y = 144;
    The problem is everytime I try to load the video I get the following error message:
    Error #2044: Unhandled AsyncErrorEvent:. text=Error #2095: flash.net.NetStream was unable to invoke callback onXMPData. error=ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property onXMPData not found on flash.net.NetStream and there is no default value.

    Anyone? Any ideas?

    Thanks very much for your HELP....I was looking at the help.adobe website you sent me and found a anwser for my problem.
    In case anyone comes to the same problem here is what I did for solving it.
    I just added the following lines to my code:
    original
    var videoConnection:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    videoConnection.connect(null);
    var videoStream:NetStream = new NetStream(videoConnection);
    var video:Video = new Video();
    videoStream.play("myVideo.flv");
    video.attachNetStream(videoStream);
    new lines:
    var customClient:Object = new Object();
    videoStream.client = customClient;

  • CS4 Encode to FLV Problem

    When I export a timeline to flv, at the identical location in the timeline it encodes it with a flaw.  It encodes the clip then in the midle of it, it seems drop a few frames and then continues flawlessly.   Instead of dropped frames it may be that it backs up  a few frames and then encodes from there.   I have corrected the problem by replacing the clip with another clip, but after a few exports, the problem reappears.
    Here's what I believe i'm seeing  at 3;40;00 it either drops 3;40;01 - 3;40;08  or it backs up to 3;39;00 and then continues encoding from there.  The visual effect is that it appears to skip frames or rewind some and continue from there.  Again, if I replace the clip at that location, it encodes fine for a few times, then it happens again.  To correct I have to replace it with a new clip, export, and then replace the clip with the original.
    Has anyone experienced this?   Any cleaner simpler ways for me to correct the problem?

    Properties of the clip in the timeline...
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 1.1 GB
    Image Size: 1440 x 1080
    Pixel Depth: 32
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
    Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00;21;14;08
    Average Data Rate: 873 KB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.3333
    I can point you to the output file on the internet if you think that would help in understanding the problem, but the description accurately describes the problem.

  • Streaming .flv problem

    When i stream .flv i have no image, only white background but
    when i try in progressive work without problem!!
    Anyone have a idea?
    thx

    I think you need to create a Video object, drag it to the
    stage, set its dimensions, give it a name (try "theVideo") and then
    in actionscript, prior to _ns.play(), run this:
    theVideo.attachVideo(_ns);
    Then call _ns.play(). See if that helps!

  • Flash flv problem

    We have a site with approx 350 megs of video that play
    sequentially through the flv component, and load dynamically . We
    seem to be having an extremely random problem where audio will stop
    playiing for no reason. Could this be some sort of memory problem?
    Perhaps a memory leak? Or something where the flv compenent can
    only handle so many videos.

    I'd also recommend using SWFObject (see
    http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject)
    for detecting the Flash Player, instead of Adobe's detection
    script. SWFObject is much more search-engine friendly for your
    content. :)

  • Full screen / .flv problem

    hi all
    I'm placing a "green-screened" .flv over the top of some other animation (the background has been eliminated w/ color key removal in premiere).  It seems to work fine until I enter full screen mode-- at which time the keyed out background comes in as black, not transparent, and covers up everything behind it.
    any ideas?
    thanks much!

    answering my own question, after seeing someone else answer their own question--
    you gotta set the parameter to false for:

    such as   "myVideo.fullScreenTakeOver=false;"

    hi there,
    might be a problem with the website and their support for Flash Lite which is included in the firmware for Nokia devices. As development for Flash Player for mobiles has ended on all platforms, there will be no more updates as such anywhere, and you will need to contact the website directly for compatibility information for your N8 device.

  • FLV problems during fastfwd

    Hi
    I work for a small multimedia company, and we're currently
    working on a project that is very 'video-heavy'. I'm converting my
    videos into FLV to be played back in our own custom made video
    player. I encode the AVI's in Premiere Pro CS3 using the Adobe
    Media Encoder using 25fps/On2VP6 and set the 'Keyframe distance
    (frames)' to 25.
    Basically most of the time the videos playback fine and we
    can scrub through the video forward and backward....however,
    sometimes when we scrub fast forward the video will pause on a
    frame and you have to hit play then fast forward again. THe only
    thing I have found using process of elimination, is that if I
    change the length of the workspace area of the AVI in Premiere Pro
    CS3 and re-export FLV; the pause happens in different places when
    we fast forward the video.
    I have a feeling it has something to do with the keyframes,
    as the video player we have custom made works on keyframes every
    second.
    Hope anyone can help

    you can use the standard NW2004s installation CDs to do an ABAP-only copy (under "additional lifecycle").

  • Dreamweaver CS4  flv problem / white box

    Hello-
    I have a very simple HTML page. I have a very small flv file:
    271kb. Following the instructions I embed the .flv file:
    INSERT>MEDIA>FLV
    and the following code is generated by Dreamweaver CS4:

    The flv will NOT play in either browser. White Box Syndrome.
    So I go to

  • .mov to FLV problems

    Hello, let me preface by saying I have very little experience
    with video. I have a .mov video I want to use in a kiosk
    application and when I make it into an FLV the quality is really
    poor. The .mov on it's own looks great, but something with the
    conversion is compressing it and affecting the quality. I checked
    the settings and even preferences and I am not seeing anything that
    will help the video look any better. Any advice would be most
    appreciated. One note, the final file size isn't as important as
    for the web since this will be on a kiosk. Thanks again.

    AbeLincoln75 wrote:
    yeah there are options to tweak these parameters but unfortunately i know nothing of video and don;t know what would be proper to manually adjust. ..
    google for 'bitrate calculators', some are 'online apps', no download, nor purchase..
    they can give you a hint, if 100kBit/sec or 6.5Mbit/sec is your dimensions..
    bitrate bascily calculates codec, res, framerate, 'speed' of content
    example: a fullTV res video (NTSC/PAL), encoded in h264 (which is allowed within a flv) has an excellent quality with a bitrate of ~800-1000kBit/sec ..
    compression is not only techniqué, but more an art ..
    e.g. a talking-head needs less bitrate than a 'skater movie' ...-
    use 30sec of your project, create 5 diff versions with diff bitrates ...
    it's only you who can decide: good AND small enough..

  • Embedded FLV problem

    Hello,
    If you play an flv with NetStream you can set the smoothing
    property so once its scaled it looks nice. If I embed a flv on the
    timeline of a swf, how can I smooth this? Smoothing seams only be
    available to bitmaps in AS3.
    Thanks
    Neil

    The answer is to exactly copy the code from the CS5.5 and below versions of Dreamweaver.
    Bu Nancy is correct. Everyone is moving to other standards for video on websites. Nancy generally recommends Pickle Player and I have been hand-coding using the HTML5 standards. I have generally found that all videos play in all browsers using the new standards, though you do have to support OGG and WEBM video files on your server.

  • Flv odd behavior in swf on web but not authoring

    Hi All,
    I've been building a movie that includes linked flvs animations that were created in After Effects. (I need to export as flv because I need that alpha channel so you can 'see thru' the movies to the content below). These linked flvs are located within child movie clips. I fade those movie clips up and down with alpha tweens and then remove them (using removeChild) after they fade down for optimization purposes.
    While building this project, I tested it often in authoring mode and everything always works fine: All flvs are open and play as they should. When I remove a child movie clip and then add it back (using the addChildAt) it appears on the correct layer in the composition.
    I also posted the movie, in earlier stages, to test it on the web and it worked fine. Now, however, after I added only four more flvs (in movie clips ...using the same method), I see several problems that I never see when I test in authoring mode: On the web, some of those flvs load late. One flv ('wheelchair man') appears in front of another flv that it should be behind. At one point the largest flv animation just vanishes. Here is the movie:
    http://home.comcast.net/~samiri/director/mortals/froggy/froggyPortrait.swf
    -You might have to reload the movie to see the intermittent problems.
    Again, these problems never show when I'm testing in authoring. (For example, that 'wheelchair man' is on the correct layer: He's behind the wall instead of in front of it.) Also: The late-appearing flv problem happens intermittently on the web.
    I am ready to tear the whole thing apart and rebuild it piece by piece, testing each on the web, but I'm hoping someone has an idea what the problem might be before I begin that long process.
    Thanks very much.
    Message was edited by: paul_james123

    Both. The z order is wrong...and the flvs don't load on time. (They eventually do load but after a lag that results in a gap in what is supposed to be a smooth dissolving of one MC into another (I tween down one MC at the same time I tween up of the next one). Again, neither of these problems show when I test in authoring mode, only when viewed in a browser.
    Thanks for sticking with me, Rob. Since this seems like a thorny optimization problem, I'm isolating to test: Let’s only look at the "MCs don't load on time" issue. (forget the ‘z order’ problem for now):
    Here’s my stripped down movie:
    http://home.comcast.net/~samiri/director/mortals/froggy/
    I only put 2 cue points in soundtrack now:
    1st.) at 3500 milliseconds, tween out the 'poster frame' (of face1 + room background)
    -This 'poster frame' is the placeholder image of face1 + bkgrn, put on the stage to hide the fact that the flv (with animating version of same content) loads more slowly than the bitmaps on the stage. I dissolve that poster frame down with the first cue point in the soundtrack (supposedly after the first MC has already loaded).
    2nd.) at 9500 milliseconds , alpha tween face 1 down and face 2 up.
    -Both tweens are supposed to happen at same time.
    I’ve tested on 3 computers (vista, Win 8, Win8.1 pro) with 3 cpu/RAM/ghz configs (Celeron/2gb/1.66ghz, corei3/4gb/2.20ghz, corei7/16gb/2.4ghz) and in 3 versions of IE, one ver of Chrome and 2 versions of Firefox:
    All show a gap in the ‘alpha tween up/down’ sequence (face1 tweens down and then you see the stage for 1-4 secs, then face2 tweens up). Most also show a sec of missing background (The animating room MC doesn’t tween up as the poster frame is tweened down so you see the white of the stage for 1-3 secs).
    I’ve tested by viewing in a browser on my desktop as well as in a browser on the web. Both show the gap between the fade down of face1 and the fade up of face2. Firefox on the desktop seems to do the best (the room background MC doesn’t go missing very often, except the first time the browser accesses the .swf. (However, even Firefox, browsing locally, on my fastest computer shows the face-dissolve gap.)
    So, as indicated, I think this is a problem where the movie clips that contain the flvs don’t tween up fast enough and play the flvs. What do you think?
    Is there any way to optimize this method so it doesn’t fall apart when viewed through a browser?
    Thanks much

  • CPU hog, faults, and memory problems in safari - solutions? or opera?

    since recently (a week or two ago i think?) safari is showing the following behaviour:
    i start the computer. start safari. reopen all windows from last session. use it normally for a while (activity monitor shows safari using 2 to 5% cpu with spikes to 15 or 20%). after some time (an hour, several hours, a day) the computer gets hot: activity monitor shows safari using between 40 and 115% cpu, never less. inspecting the process reveals that safari is producing massive amounts of faults (as of now 32 million and rising at over 10'000 per second. it also shows the shared memory size or the virtual private memory (one of the two, it varies) peaking at 16 TB (yes, Terabytes; 16.777 to be more precise) for a second (the time between two refreshes of the inspector window). this last behaviour is intermittent but happens during this sort of event.
    if i quit and restart safari the problem immediately recurs, in contrast if i restart the computer i can use safari normally for a few hours before it recurs.
    i have seen posts here blaming this sort of behaviour on flash, but this doesn't seem to be an adequate explanation to me as i'm able to use safari for some time before the issue occurs, and definitely visit pages with flash during that time.
    another post recommended to empty cache, which didn't solve the issue.
    is there a solution for this? if there's no solution i'd be willing to switch browser, but safari is very much the one i prefer. i'd even go as far as to re-install my whole system if necessary, but would prefer a less radical solution which allows me to continue using safari.
    Message was edited by: dissociated

    Hey, man, it's not just you, and it's not just your version. I have a similar configuration (albeit 2 GB RAM) and I have upgraded to the latest version of Safari.
    By doing a little troubleshooting I've determined that Flash actually is the problem. It seems to get the most CPU when watching FLV videos, such as those on youtube. My theory is that the algorithm that runs the decoding on the videos is very, very complex, as it allows high-quality video over a standard broadband (ours is 3 Gbps) connection.
    As such, this has the implication of being processor intensive as well as HDD intensive caching. My MBP reached 80 Celsius at one point, forcing me to quit most programs. After quitting my MBP cooled down to its usual 55 Celsius (still a bit warm I know, but it probably has more to do with the fact that it's on my lap now).
    I do not believe that Safari is at fault, nor do I believe that your Mac is at fault. Mine does not get hot even during extensive Photoshoping or Dreamweaving or even XCoding but YouTubing gets it very hot. Thus, if you've anyone to blame it's Adobe. (sorta... just for Flash)
    In terms of solutions however I am afraid I must leave you somewhat in the dark unless you want to quit watching Flash vid's. If you should write to anyone, write to Adobe because chances are good that some other users may be experiencing the same problems.
    Hope that this was helpful.
    P.S. Sucpicious confirmed. Firefox watching Flash vids also causes a lot of CPU percentage to be used and the cpu temperature to raise a good number of degrees. So... you're pretty much out of luck no matter what browser you use until Adobe fixes FLV problems. Sorry
