FLVplayback skin works in HTML locally, but not on a server.

I am developing a Flash based website that plays a video file using the FLVplayback component. Everything works fine locally, the paths are all relative and everything (index.html, the SWF with the FLVplayback and the skin SWF) is all in the same place. I have checked my paths and am certain they are correct.
once I upload everything to a server, my skin goes missing. Even though the video plays.
unusual? yes.
frusterating? yes.
solution? none in sight.
(sigh) I hope someone can help me here.

Hi Linda,
As a suggestion, I would try to delete the deployed version and instead of deploying ther RDL file, i would try to upload the file and test it.
If the issue exisit, then I would download the exisiting version from the reportserver and compare the xml versions of the two reports and check if the propoerty is getting over written while deploying.

  • [Captivate 8] HTML5 Publishing - First Slide shows locally but not on test server

    Hi all,
    The Question
    Has anyone run into this issue of the first slide not showing on HTML5 (and/or SWF) until you open up the TOC and select the recalcitrant slide and then it shows (and operates) just fine? Not on project load, just when it is selected.
    The Description
    I've only been using Captivate 8 for a short period of time, and I've run face first into a little bit of a bigger hurdle than I expected. At present, I have a simple, linear Captivate project that in essence replicates a Powerpoint (client specified). Everything was working just fine until I tried a HTML 5 Preview from Captivate 8 and first slide did not show. After some research my solutions to the problems I encountered was to:
    Local preview occasionally causes a glitch. Solution: Publish locally and (pre)view the result. This didn't work.
    Group all objects on the first slide and then attach the action Show to that group. This fixed the problem.
    Following that I published it to a host server (test server at the moment, but ultimately it will the live dev server). I encountered the same problem, so:
    Tried the group trick, above. No joy.
    Opened up the TOC and navigated to the other slides. None of the buttons (previous slide, next slide) worked.
    Renamed the "Mouse.mp3" to remove that annoying click. Result: All project buttons worked, but the first slide was not showing (grouped or otherwise).
    Removed all master slide objects from the slide. No joy.
    Removed the button (action: Next Slide) and reduced the play time of the slide to 5 seconds so that the slide would play upon loading, then just move to the next slide. No joy.
    Tried all of the above with SWF and HTML 5 publication.
    Tried all of the above with SWF only.
    Once again, when I open up the TOC and navigate to the first slide ("Title Page") the blank slide that is populated only by the lonesome borders becomes the Title slide, as it should. Also, local preview from the file (\project\index.htm) works just fine.
    Obviously I'm missing something. It's probably something incredibly obvious, so I thank you for your patience.
    The Technical
    Captivate 8.0.0.145
    OS: Maverick OSX and Windows XP Pro SP1
    Other: Adobe CS (up-to-date install)

    First, apologies--I didn't see the "Getting Started" sub-community so if this thread can be moved there then thank you. Second, I missed some important details.
    Project Details
    Captivate 8, blank project*. Content at the moment is only text captions, media resources (pictures, two web objects [to Vimeo]), and transparent buttons. The project is stripped of the play bar as it is a self-paced lesson/module.
    * I don't have the lead time to make this a responsive design, though that is the ultimate goal once the one-size-fits-all version (1024x627) has been released.
    Testing Hardware Details
    The following are the machines and browsers I've tested the HTML5 output on.
    Mac (10.9.4) -- Chrome 36.0.1985.125 (hangs; need to open the TOC and click on "Title Page"), Firefox 30 (works fine), Safari 7.0.5 (9537.77.4) (works fine)
    Windows 7 Pro SP1 -- IE 11 (works straight away! *shock*), Chrome 35.0.1916.153 m (hung, but on refresh worked fine), Firefox 31.0 (throws out unsupported error [known feature] but then loads up just fine).
    Chromebook -- Chrome OS 35.0.1916.155 (worked straight off).
    Smartphones -- Not supported, but iPhone 4S (iOS 7.1.2) (works fine, but not designed); Galaxy S5 Chrome (broken).
    Tablets -- iPad2 (iOS 7.1.2) (play button loads partial content, on refresh works fine); Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Chrome (broken), Android Browser (works fine).
    I'm more than willing to share a link to the project and the Captivate 8 file, but just thought that I would see if this gets any traction/recognition before going deeper.

  • Upload files from my app works fine in JDev but NOT on app server???

    i guys,
    I'm using jdeve 10.1.2. and adf bc's. So here's my problem:
    In my application i need to allow for the upload of files from user's computers. This works perfectly fine from jdeveloper but when i deploy my application on the application server i get the following error:
    JBO-26041: Failed to post data to database during "Insert": SQL Statement "D:\TrademarkTestData\TrademarkunitTestData.xls (The system cannot find the path specified)".
    D:\TrademarkTestData\TrademarkunitTestData.xls (The system cannot find the path specified)
    For some reason the system cannot find the path. This is most frustrating as it works perfectly fine when run from jdeveloper.
    Any ideas would be most welcome.
    Thanks in advance,
    Newbe

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for the response. I've consulted with our server guy and he says that there are no read/write privileges. Jdev is not on the server.
    I'm really stumped by this so if you have any ideas, I'd really appreciate it.
    Happr New Year to you,
    Newbe.

  • C# Script to copy an Excel File working locally but not on the server when I schedule a job

    So I have these couple C# commands to copy an Excel File which works fine and dandy on my local client when I test and run this SSIS Package but when I tried scheduling the job on the server, it failed.
    These are the couple C# commands...
    // This Opens the Source .xlsx File from Emdeon ePaySmart
    Workbook workbook = excelApplication.Workbooks.Open(StringSourceFile, XlUpdateLinks.xlUpdateLinksNever, true, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing);
    // This will Save the Source .xlsx Emdeon ePaySmart File as a .xls File...note xlFileFormat.xlExcel5
    workbook.SaveAs(StringDestinationFile, XlFileFormat.xlExcel8, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, XlSaveAsAccessMode.xlExclusive, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing);
    Is this because I'm using xlFileFormat.xlExcel8 and locally it is running fine but when I schedule via SQL Server Management Studio as a SQL Server Agent Job it seems to be failing??
    I sure hope I don't have to change this so it will run as a SQL Server Agent Job and/or run this locally every blessed week.
    Can someone clear this up for me and provide a potential solution?
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

    That is Excel automation, which requires Excel to be installed on the computer where the code runs, and is not supported on a server without an interactive user logged in.

  • Flash Remoting Works Locally But Not On The Server

    Hello,
    I have a flash file that connects to an asp.net page. The
    aspx page queries a databse and returns a set of records to flash.
    Flash reads in those records and processes those records. Locally,
    this works fine. However, on the server, nothing happends. I spoke
    with tech support at hosting company and they tell me everything is
    installed for Flash Remoting.
    Here is the code thats on the server:
    import mx.remoting.NetServices;
    import mx.remoting.NetDebug;
    mx.remoting.debug.NetDebug.initialize();
    //CONSTRUCTOR
    var inited:Boolean = false;
    if(!inited){
    inited = true;
    NetServices.setDefaultGatewayUrl("
    http://63.134.251.243/gateway.aspx");
    var gatewayConn
    bject = NetServices.createGatewayConnection();
    gatewayConn.setDebugID( "Gateway Connection" );
    var SQLQueryToolService
    bject = gatewayConn.getService("matthewlemke", this
    function SQLQueryToolAction(){
    SQLQueryToolService.test("SELECT * FROM flashImages");
    function test_Result(result){
    trace(result);
    _root.abc.text = result.toString();
    SQLQueryToolAction();
    Here is the code locally:
    import mx.remoting.NetServices;

    //CONSTRUCTOR
    var inited:Boolean = false;

    SQLQueryToolService.test("SELECT * FROM flashImages");
    function test_Result(result){
    trace(result);
    _root.abc.text = result.toString();
    SQLQueryToolAction();
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vic

    I am having the exact same problem. My remoting application
    works fine on my laptop as long
    as the url for the gateway reads
    http://localhost/remotingData/gateway.aspx,
    but if I change
    it to the name of my machine and attempt to run the swf I
    keep getting a NetConnection.call.badversion error in the
    netconnection debugger. If I attempt to connect through IE it just
    sits with no reply.
    Is there some kind of permission thing going on here?

  • JSR portlet works via WSRP locally but not remotely

    Dear gurus,
    I have Webcenter with WebLogic Server Version 10.3.4.0 and I'm trying to deploy a portlet so it can be consumed from another Webcenter instance remotely.
    I have deployed a JSR 268 portlet from a WAR file using JDeveloper and the following steps:
    1. Import portlet from WAR file
    2. Follow http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/webcenter.1111/e10273/portlets.htm#BEIDHGGE to deploy the portlet as a WSRP producer. Obtain WSDL.
    3. In the administration page for a portal, register the WSRP producer using the supplied WSDL.
    4. Add the portlet to a page on the portal. This works if the portal page is on the same Webcenter instance as the producer.
    However, if I try to consume this portlet from a remote Webcenter instance and follow step 3, "Test Connection" reports success, but the portlet does not appear in the list of available portlets in Step 4.
    Could you please advise what I have missed?
    Thanks in advance,
    Linda Postniece

    cross check again,
    it shouldn't happen in your case.
    earlier i have consumed remote portlets via wsrp and it was working fine for me.
    No,in your case I think you should register the portlet producer in the remote domain's em-> in service cofiguration page ->portlet producer->
    and check it out.

    I have tried everything imaginable and I can't make this slideshow work from the remote server.  I get the massages:

    SpryImageSlideShow.js requires SpryWidget.js!

  • Processbuilder works from command line but not on deployment server

    I need to deploy my code on a 10g oc4j Oracle server. When I ssh into the server and run the following code, it works:
    import java.util.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Launcher {
    public static void main(String args[]) throws IOException {
    String url = "http://www.ebay.com";
    String[] commands = {"/bin/sh", "-c", "/opt/sfw/bin/firefox ", url, "-width", "1600", "-height", "1200", ":5"};
    ProcessBuilder pb = new ProcessBuilder(commands);
    env.put( "DISPLAY", ":5" );
    Process process = pb.start();
    It launches firefox and I can see the process running when I use "ps -ef | grep firefox". Firefox runs in a virtual frame buffer since this is a headless server. Originally I had problems just getting this code working by itself, but now it works fine.
    However when I deploy the exact same code via Oracle application server, it doesn't do anything. Not only do no processes show up but I have added different output statements into this code and have verified that firefox never launches. However no error is ever thrown either, even when I just test for generic Exceptions. So any ideas on what I can do to get this running?

    If he were to call [ProcessBuilder.redirectErrorStream(true)|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/ProcessBuilder.html#redirectErrorStream(boolean)] then all he has to handle is stdout.
    True, then that would be just one more important thing that the OP failed to post in his "*exact* same code" .

    Hi all
    i am creating an application using Jdeveloper 9051+adf+uix.

    But after deploying this application on Oracle Application Server 10g , create and delete buttons are working (means data in form is getting submitted) but commit button is not working (commit button is enabled but data is not getting commited in the table.) after pressing the commit button the form is coming back to its previous position and the commit button is yet enabled. if i presses it second time then button goes disabled but data is not commited at all.

    I then instantiate a class to go and retrieve some XML,
    register an eventListener to wait for the XML to be loaded and once
    the event has fired, load the FLV file (just hard coded at the
    moment) into the FLVPlayback object.
    This works when testing in the Flash IDE but not when I
    publish the movie to my webserver. I have tried commenting out the
    player.load() and just adding a textfield and again this works
    locally but not when I publish to the webserver. I have included
    some code snippets below.
    Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong?
    Any pointers much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Martin

    Hi,
    I found the problem if anyone has the same issue. I was
    passing some FlashVars in incorrectly using the
    AC_RunActiveContent.js that comes with Flash. I have switched to
    swfobject and all is well.
    thanks

  • Flash site works locally but not online (uploaded to server)

    We have bought a flash portfolio template and have customized it with our pictures, video, etc.
    When we test it locally on our computer (using different web browsers) it all works perfectly well. We have uploaded the finished website to our server and when you go to the address online, it doesn't work (a loader progress shows but it is stopped and nothing happens).
    We have however uploaded the original template we bought and it works perfectly online.
    The template consists of and index.html, various .swf, and various .xml that we have modified according to the template instructions (it also contains a java script folder we haven't touched).
    What is it wrong with our modified template - it works locally without problem…!
    Thanks for your help

    When a Flash file works locally but not on-line, it's almost always a pathing issue (provided you did upload ALL files and do not have something missing... as suggested by Ned).
    A "pathing issue" results when the main .swf cannot find one or more of the associated Flash files...like an xml file or images.
    It can be something as simple as using switching file names to all lower case. Local machine is not case sensative... most servers are. So "My Photo.JPG" is not the same as "my_photo.jpg". When naming files, best to use all lower case, no spaces in any file or folder names... use_underscore_instead.
    But the most common cause is that those associated files (xml, images, etc.) are not pathed relative to the Web page where the main .swf is embedded. Pathing to the .xml and image files should be as though the .swf was located in the same folder as the Web page... NOT the actual location of the .swf file.
    And that includes paths to the xml file and paths to image files coded into those xml files. Everything need to be coded relative to the Web page.

  • cffeed caching works locally but not on server

    So I got my new Hostek account set up (woohoo!) and I've started uploading some basic files so I can do thinks like validate my code and make sure everything's working.  One thing that does not work (but does locally) is my news feed caching.
    Pulling in two RSS feeds was seriously slowing down my index page loading, so I stole a trick from Ray Camden on caching the feeds.  It works perfectly on my dev machine at home, but doesn't work on my hosted account.
    Here's the exact code being used:
    <cfset feedurl = "http://velonews.competitor.com/feed">
    <cfset cacheTime = #createtimespan(1,0,0,0)#>
    <cfif not structKeyExists(application,"rsscache") or dateDiff("n", application.rsscache.created, now()) gt cacheTime>
        <cffeed source="#feedurl#" query="entries">
        <cfset application.rsscache = structNew()>
        <cfset application.rsscache.data = entries>
        <cfset application.rsscache.created = now()>
    </cfif>
    <ul>
    <cfloop query="#application.rsscache.data#" startrow="1" endrow="6">
    <cfoutput><li><a href="#rsslink#">#title#</a></li></cfoutput>
    </cfloop>
    </ul>
    I tried wrapping a try/catch around the top section (above the <ul>) and still got nothing for an error message.  The page just stops being rendered at that first <ul>.
    I'm not sure why it works locally but not on the web server.  Any ideas?

    Miraculously, I got it working.
    I changed this:
    <cfloop query="#application.rsscache.data#" startrow="1" endrow="6">
    <cfoutput><li><a href="#rsslink#">#title#</a></li></cfoutput>
    </cfloop>
    To this:
    <cfoutput maxrows="6" query="application.rsscache.data">
    <li><a href="#rsslink#">#title#</a></li>
    </cfoutput>
    And bingo!  It worked. Perhaps it's an idiosyncrasy between CF9 and CF10.
