FMCG in SAP B1

Hi All,
Is it possible to use SAP B1 in the fast moving consumer good industry ? what is its limitation and what is its benefit ? I mean what modules are usually able to be applied in such industry ? Pls give advice. Thanks
Rgd
Rajh

Hi Raj,
B1 I beleive as such can be used for any industry be it FMCG or any other Industry.....though in some cases some amount of customization would be needed.
It suits more so for an FMCG industry b'cos the basic industry in the FMCG would be trading (manufacturing too in some cases)....and B1 fits pretty well for trading. Also B1 covers all the basic Modules required in an FMCG industry which would be Purchasing, sales, Inventory which form the back bone along with others.
Hope I have cleared your doubt.

  • Credit Note in SAP Business One

    Hi All,
We want to reimburse some of the customer promotional expenditure ( e.g. trade scheme operated in the market, distribution expenditure undertaken, display given etc ) in form of credit or we want make credit entry for the same reason to the customer  which should be adjusted with subsequent sales in future.
But we could not find above facility in SAP Business One.
You are aware that the credit note issuing is a regular process adopted by all companies and is quite common in FMCG business. We want that each and every single credit note has to be documented in the system and reconciled against each party's claims .
Please help us with a proper solution  for the  process of system generated Credit Note as that will help us a lot.
    Regards
    Arindam

    Hi Arindam,
To access the credit note module window from the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose Sales u2013 A/R  A/R Credit Memo. Also make sure that you have the credit note option selected in the main menu form settings. Also please check that you have the right permissions and license assigned to the user performing this function.
For legal reasons, you cannot change or delete a delivery or invoice that you enter in SAP Business One. However, the customer might send the goods back for various reasons, or you may have made a mistake when you entered the documents.
If a sales transaction for which you record an accounting and an inventory posting has been completely or partially reversed, you must enter a corresponding sales document to clear it. This document reverses the changes in terms of stock quantities and monetary values.
The credit memo is the clearing document for the invoice and for the returns. If the goods were delivered to the customer and an invoice has already been created, you can partially or completely reverse the transaction by creating a credit memo. With the credit memo y
ou correct both the quantities and the monetary values. The system increases the stock of the credited items by the amount specified in the credit memo. The credit memo credits the value in the customer account in the Accounting system and amends the revenue account by the same amount. The system corrects the tax amounts automatically.
SAP Business One enables you to create an A/R credit memo with a zero amount. You can do this when you clear A/R invoices for items delivered without a charge, for example, for items that are part of a promotion or covered by a service contract.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards,
    Matt

  • Prepack vs Display in SAP retail

    Hi guys,
I am still struggling to understand the difference between prepack and Display in SAP retail.
Anyone has a good understanding of that?
    Cheers
    Julien

    Hi
    Prepack:
Variant from different generic articles belongs to same merchandise category grouped together as component and created with article category 11.
Prepacks are used in Fashion retail where merchant wants to order specific variants (color and size) rather than ordering all the variants from generic articles.
Vendor ship prepack articles and received in DC as prepack articles whereas it will be sold at component level in Store.
    Display
Variant from different generic articles belongs to different merchandise category grouped together as component and created with article category 12.
Vendor ship as display articles, stocks are maintained at DC as display articles but sold in store at component level.
Display articles are used in FMCG sectors mostly and to some extend it is used in Fashion as well. These articles generally kept at billing counters and customer will pick the components as they like it.

  • Need suggestion on SAP module

    Hi All,
I need a suggestion from all you guys.
After doing MBA in Marketing & finance, have been working as Research analyst in FMCG & retail industry for almost 3 year. Thought of learning some SAP functional knowledge by myself. Before starting thought of consulting you people
which module would be benificial for me ..as per my work background as Research Analyst.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Ritu

    Hello Ritu,
I would recommend you pick up FI/CO (Finance & Controlling) modules instead of learning an industry vertical since you will have a very specialized knowledge of the vertical and nothing beyond that. If you learn FI/CO module, you can apply it in any industry vertical. I mentioned FI/CO since I see you have done some Finance education. Alternatively, you could pick up other moodules like SD (Sales & Distribution), MM (Materials Management) etc.
    Good luck,

    Excise duty- 4%

    Amount- 934.20
Do the back calculation for this you will get the basic rate.
    Regards
    Sandip

    Hi,
In Standard SAP B1 you can do the reverse calculation.
Create the corresponding tax code for the same.
Open the sales Document , in matrix just select the item, put qty, next to that select the tax code in appropriate field and put discount percent, now put the MRP price in total column and press tab. Now check in Unit price column, as per your requirement SAP will do the calculation. Also add that document and check in journal entry, you will get exact picture which you given in your thread.

  • SAP- SD Consultant Job Opportunities

    Dear Experts,
Myself Daniel. I have done BE (e & c) and also MBA ( marketing & systems). Currently, I am  having 2 years experience in Sales Industry ( FMCG ). Thats one of the best FMCG Companies in the World. Now 2 years of Domain experience is not much i know, but, i believe i have have acquired a thorough knowledge in Sales. Now, i want to move on to SAP. My seniors are telling me to go for SD Module. I am thinking of admission in an authorized SAP training institute. People at the institute said that SD Module suits me best, but i want to know from you experts. Please guide me. They( the institute people) say that SD Module is the most demanding in terms of job opportunities. But having gone through different threads here its contradicting. The authorized SAP training institute guys are saying that they will also ASSIST me in getting a job but they cant GUARANTEE it. fare enough. But i want to know about the current job opportunities as a Certified SAP SD Consultant in todays market from experts.
Please help me in this, i would be grateful.
    Thanks,
    Dany

    Hi Daniel,
All your points are valid, but unfortunately that's the state of affairs as of now. Getting an SAP Certification is equivalent to "I have learnt this SAP course from this Authorized Training Center". And that's the end of it.
Not many companies will hire you just because you have an SAP Certification. Coupled with the fact that getting an SAP Certification is quite an expensive affair (at least in India - I don't know where you are from...) the entire idea is a joke IMO.
And from the looks of it, it doesn't look like SAP is going to change this trend any time soon. Before jumping into the Certification bandwagon, do read some of the agonizing tales of freshers like you, who have done Certification and still looking for a job.
Im not trying to discourage you, but you should know the facts before making a huge investment in terms of time and money so that you can make an informed decision.
    Good Luck!

  • SAP career with BPO experience

    HI All,
I have worked for BPO organization(Banking- residential Mortgage)for 8 years and overall I have 12 years of experience.
Now I am planning of taking up career in SAP. Can you please guide me.
    Abt my self :
Commerce graduate, started my  career in Sales FMCG products. Last worked for BPO organization wherein supporting the Leading North Americans banks Mortgage domain.
If I take up SAP FI/CO, will that help me in career ? Is SAP certification is necessary to get the job?
    Awaiting reply
    Please advise,

    Sunshine
Having domain experience in manufacturing/ supply chain is useful, and in my mind, a necessary pre-requisite for being a good SAP SCM functional consultant. However, the reality is that the industry does not value domain experience as much as they should, especially most offshoring companies in India.
Certification/ Training are somewhat useful, but they don't gaurentee anything, least of all getting a job. My advice is always first be sure if you want to switch career tracks from domain to consulting. Remember that the grass is greener.....Talk to people already in the area about travel requirements, working hours, etc.
But if you are certain, the best way is to probably to join an SAP implementation partner. Talk to them about your interest in SAP SCM and domain background. Be prepared to start from the first rung of a very tall ladder. Try to get on an SCM project even if its a support role. Get involved in internal activities such as proposal development, pre-configured solutions. See if they will sponsor certification/ training.
Opportunities in SAP SCM are a mixed bag. Projects are smaller compared to ERP implementations, so number of resources required are fewer. On the other hand number of available skilled resources is also smaller. Supply Chain Planning is a high priority for clients, but many of them don't have the maturity level required to implement advanced planning systems or are unwilling to commit to the effort/ expense.
Best of luck and keep the sun shining high !

  • SAP AFS and SAP ECC

    Hi,
As I understand AFS offers additional functionalities required for Apparel industry but does it take away or restricts standard ECC functionalities.
What If an organization is into 2 businesses i.e. Garments and FMCG, can they still go ahead and use SAP AFS for both businesses? Is there an impact on Master data, logistics related processes, Financial reporting etc?
Business processes and dynamics in terms of planning, transactions and reporting are quite different for Apparel and FMCG businesses. I am new to AFS and would request experts to guide me on such a solution proposal.
    Please share your views.
    Thank You
    Manish

    Hello Vishal,
    Thanks for the information.
What about version management of ECC and AFS? I mean with release on a new enhancement pack of ECC, certain new business functionalities are offered...but with AFS being active, will it not mean that the customer has to wait till the add-on of AFS is also made compatible?
Just the way you mentioned about PP-PI issue... are there any other business functionalities that get impacted? I did come across a message posted where it is stated that free goods functionality is not available with AFS being activated.
Is there any official document from SAP on how AFS activation restricts ECC functionalities...like the one of PP-PI you mentioned?
    Thanks

  • Is APICS useful? What are my exit options after SAP ?

    Hi,
I have completed my MBA and will be joining SAP as business process consultant in supply chain. As I will be doing SAP certifications in the company, I was thinking of doing APICS certifications (CPIM/CSCP), first I wanted to understand whether it would be a good idea to do the APICS certification i.e. would it actually have any value addition, second which one should I consider (CPIM or CSCP)  and would be more helpful for me.
Also, is it that after joining SAP, I will be restricted to SAP related jobs, (i.e. ERP roles) or will I be able to switch to supply chain roles in Retail/FMCG sector and eventually move to strategy roles (management consulting). Though I know I would be learning implementation of SAP in multiple sector, I actually wanted to know my exit options.
I would be really glad if someone would help me better understand.
    Thanks
    Rohit

Not sure why you posted this in the iPhone forum but sorry you're having such a difficult time. With that being said, unfortunately, VZW isn't obligated to assist you in difficult financial times although it would be great if they did. As far as you wanting to get into a non-smart phone to lessen your bill...you will have to look into alternative ways to obtain one if you want to avoid paying full retail. Do you have any friends with Verizon? Check and see if any of them have an old phone that they don't use. Lower your plan to less minutes and actively monitor your usage. Save non-essential personal calls until after 9:00 pm on weekdays if you're calling non-verizon customers. Even without a house phone it is not difficult to get by on a 450 min plan without going over your minutes. My mother did it for 5 years and never once went over her minutes nor did she have a landline phone to use. Text when possible to avoid using minutes. If you stay with the Droid then try to find texting apps or widgets that can help eliminate the need for a text plan. You can also check into services like Skype that can allow you to make free calls to other users...some of your friends may gladly subscribe to those services so that you can communicate and use less plan minutes. You should also talk to VZW to see what lower plan options you have.

  • Big Hello to All SAP Lovers

    Hello SAP Lovers!
I have over 10 years of experience in varied industry including manufacturing, FMCG, aviation, service. I have worked on SAP system predominantly on FI/CO, PS, SD, PP, Security modules.  I have a strong background in Accounting and acted as Business Analysts or System Analyst in my previous roles; predominantly the role responsibility includes system enhancements for business and playing an important role in the process of BPR or SAP customisation as per business requirement.
My role requires a good blend of SAP functional side and business financial procedures and principles. In percentage wise my role probably covers 70% SAP functional and 30% of Business processes.
At this stage of my professional carrier, I have learned that my interest and strong point is more inclined towards SAP functional side and which is why I want to start my carrier as SAP consultant in FI/CO.
Could anyone please suggest any training options as I am bit confused as to which training I should attend to kick start my carrier as SAP consultant. I would like to learn about implementation and customisation for FICO, currently I can see the below options but I wasnu2019t quite sure which best suits my skill sets
