FN Key working in reverse - G5070 Series

Hi, I purchase G5070 series laptop but FN key working in revese for example for renaming file I need to press FN+F2 button. How to correct this issue? Thanks in advance. Regards, Chandrashekar B

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
You will need to boot into BIOS first.
Turn OFF the computer and press the OKR Button, You will be provided with a menu which you will need to choose Set up utility or Enter Set up
Now Navigate to the Configuration TAB and toggle the Hotkey option.
Enable if Disabled or Disable when Enabled.
Now Press F10 to Save and Exit and confirm it.
This should switch the Option again in launching the Hotkey.

The function keys on my keyboards are working in the opposite manner. Whenever I press any of the keys from F1 to F12 they perform the multimedia actions or their enhanced action. For example, if I press the F2 key the brightness of my laptop screen would lower. It should not work like this. I should be pressing Fn+F2 for the brightness of my screen to lower. The problem here is that I can't use Alt+F4 to close windows because its reversed, I instead have to press Alf+Fn+F4. I have already search for an answer online and I can only find that NumLock is supposed to be locked. But, it's a laptop - I have no such key. Looking for alternatives if anyone has found a solution. Thank you in advance.

The BIOS solution did work on my new HP Pavilion 17-inch laptop. Thank you for that. I see that HP uniquely considers the Function keys (F1-F12) to be "ACTION KEYS." This deviates from the industry standards. They are Function keys to the rest of the PC world. The graphics on the keys should have the F1 through F12 in large type, rather than tiny type. It's not good that HP has chosen its own path for how keyboards work. People who use Windows on a variety of computers rely on the keyboards to all work in similar ways. If HP wanted to build this feature in, it should 1) be well-documented and 2) be an option, not the default setting.

You can press press F7 (on Mac: fn + F7) to toggle caret browsing on/off.

Unable to use the keyboard in XP keys work OK when boot into dos

Unable to use the keyboard in XP. It was working for over a year OK with XP running
keys work OK when I install win98 or use a dos boot disk.
If I try to reinstall XP I can not use any of keys to input anything.

I think you forgot to mention which ThinkPad you have. It would be even better if you could post the Type and Model Number as this will help members to hopefully help you. If it ends in CTO please provide some details about the ThinkPad. Please do NOT post your s/n.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

My laptop keyboard is having problems. I took it if to change my bottom case it worked fine prior and then after just the power key worked. I cleaned everything nothing is bent in the cable. now my power key is not working

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Serial numbers for older versions do not work across platforms.
At one time, when the product was current, you could get Adobe to switch you to the other platform, but I don't know whether Adobe will do that for old versions. I do know it's not going to work if you try to use your Windows license for a Mac installation.

Substitution now working for reversal documents

Hi,
I understand that substitution does not work for reversal documents; all attributes in the reversal document are picked up from the original document.
However is there any way to change this? I want the reversal document to pick up something else. Please note that the attributes fields are all Z fields.

DVI Splitter working in reverse?

This is sort of a general question.... But I was wondering if a DVI splitter will work in reverse. Basically what I want to do is use my monitor for my Macbook Pro, and for my PS3, but I want to optimize the picture on both. The best way I can think of doing this (without having to unplug whichever one I am not using at the time) is to plug a DVI splitter into my monitor (coming out of the monitor) and than plugging my Mac into one side, and my PS3 (via HDMI-DVI adapter) into the other side. If I do this, will my monitor recognize whichever one is powered on? Or will I just confuse the crap out of the monitor?

I don't think what you propose will work. This is what KVM switches are made for.

But if you want to save what a KVM switch would cost, the free, simple, no-sweat solution is just to plug the monitor into one computer at a time.

hi. first off, don't try anything about closing apps and all that, unless you make sure you've turned off quick nav to type. for some strange reason, in iOS 8, you can't type text into a edit field, if you don't turn that off. that's by pressing the left and right arrows together. if this isn't the problem, then i'd try toggling off the keyboard, then toggle off bluetooth on your device, then back on, and finally turn the keyboard back on.

Media Keys working/Volume keys broken

I used to use MultiPlugin by localhost to make the media keys on my keyboard work when iTunes was minimized. This worked great. When I updated iTunes to 7.1, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the media keys worked fully without any plugins. However, after using my computer for a few hours I found that the volume keys performed a "double press" when I was only pressing the buttons once. What happens is that when I try to mute/unmute the system the volume will be muted and immediately unmuted or vice versa. I have narrowed this problem down to iTunes, seeing as when I stop running iTunes, the keys work fine. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

No keys working on 2011 MacBook Pro Keyboard

No keys work. Completely defective
Haven't SPILLED anything on the keyboard, but I did windex to clean and wipe the screen and decided to do the same on the keyboard to clean it. Didn't think this would cause any damage but could this be the reason? That's the only thing I can think of that could've caused the keyboard to be defective.
None of the keys are sticky though, and when you press them, all the keys feel as they would when the keyboard was functioning normally.
Looked up solutions, and in system preferances, under accesibility, mouse keys, slow keys, and my shortcuts(speak selected text when the key is pressed) in dictation & speech is all disabled.
I've been using an on-screen keyboard so typing is significantly slower (using a different computer now)
Seeing if anyone has any last-ditch solutions that I could try before taking it to the apple store/getting a keyboard replacement.

Only F keys work in Numbers and Pages after iWorks Update 6

Within Numbers and Pages only the F keys work. Is anyone else having this problem since installing iWorks update 6? What can be done to regain use of the keyboard?

Update - I am using Better Touch Tool (BTT) which provides additional gestures for my Magic Mouse. Disabling BTT for Numbers and Pages restored the keyboard functionality. If you experience similar problems, open BTT and add Numbers and Pages to the program list and select the option to disable BTT completely for these two programs.

Only certain keys work on Apple Bluetooth keyboard

Discarted my Apple Wireless keyboard that came with my imac because only certain keys worked (4 or 5 keys). Finally bout another Apple Wireless keyboard, and have the same problem. All the settings are correct. any advice?

Sometimes this is caused by accidently setting "mouse keys" on by hitting the Option key 5 times.
Look in System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > Turn Mouse Keys off.
