Fonts folder pre

I have upgraded from PrE9 to PrE11. There is a particular font in 9 (Chaparral Pro) which I use quite a bit. It is in PrE11 but appears differently (without a shadow). Can anyone tell me why that is, or perhaps just tell me where the fonts folders are located so I can move the font I like over? Thank you.

  • How can i replace user fonts folder with back-up?

I want to replace my user>library>fonts folder (which has somehow become corrupted and is incomplete) with a sound copy from a backup disk. When I try to do this, a dialogue box tells me that the "Fonts can't be modified or deleted because it is required by Mac OSX".
How can I put the backup fonts folder in position?

The OS is not 'complaining' about required fonts, nor am I trying to delete any fonts from my User folder.
I added about 6 fonts yesterday, validating each one before install > User folder. All were approved and worked fine. When I checked later in the day, I discovered increasing numbers of duplicates being reported in Font Book. I resolved the duplicates.
But the existing User fonts folder looks very different now to the original (as it exists on the backup) - that big difference is MB is puzzling, given a similar number of fonts.
My intention had been to copy the back up folder across so as to revert to the pre-extra fonts installed state. Anyone able to advise on how I can be sure that all is still OK?

  • OK to delete fonts the pre-installed fonts?

I've recently got myself a new 24" iMac. I use it for graphic design.
One thing I'm not sure about is which fonts are ok to delete. I seem to have hundreds of fonts that were pre-installed which I will never ever use.
Is it ok to delete any of these fonts or does the Mac need them for running certain applications?
I just ideally would like to have only the fonts I have purchased to show up in my font menu in InDesign and Illustrator. Having hundreds of useless fonts is a tad annoying
Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.

OS X does not install hundreds of fonts. The fonts located in the /System/Library/Fonts/ folder should be untouched. Fonts you have installed should be located in the /Home/Library/Fonts/ folder, and any of them can be deleted. Some applications may install fonts in the /Library/Fonts/ folder. These should be left alone unless you know they are not required by any of your installed applications.
Note that managing fonts is exactly what Font Book is intended for. You might consider learning how to use it. Open the application and select Font Book Help from the Help menu to obtain information on its usage.

  • Fonts in Font Folder not available in Photoshop cs5

Using windows 7 OS. from start> open control panel>fonts.  For example: "AdobeFanHeitiStd-Bold.otf" is in fonts folder, but does not show up in photoshop list of fonts in "character" panel.  what can i do to show all fonts in the charater panel list?

These are Unicode substitution fonts for Asian languages and all that. They'll only show up with options set accordingly in the Text palettes.

  • Need help setting up a shared /Library/Fonts folder for font sharing

    Hi,
I have a problem setting up a shared /Library/Fonts folder on my OSX 10.5.5 server that gets automounted on the OSX 10.5.x clients.
While I managed to get the folder to show up automatically under /Network/Library/Fonts on the clients, the fonts in these folders do not show up in Font Book on the client systems. Plus, it seems like there is some sort of language mismatch, since I am using a German OSX installation. While the shared /Library/Fonts folder does show up under the "Network" area (where the servers are listed), it does not connect correctly on the "/Netzwerk" folder that OS X creates automatically. In fact there are 2 folders named "/Netzwerk" on my startup drive root directory, one that reads "/Network" when looking at it in the terminal, and one named "/Netzwerk". The /Network one does have a working link to the /Library folder, and the /Netzwerk one does only contain something looking like an alias of /Library, but it does not allow any access to this alias.
If anybody did manage to get this Netowrk "/Library/Fonts" to work I would be happy for some feedback. I am simply not sure if this is related to a localization bug, or if I am doing something wrong here. The fact that the folder and the fonts does show up correctly under the network portion of the sidebar seems to indicate that my setup is correct, but still the fonts do not work.
Any ideas, or maybe a step-by-step description on how to set this up would be great.
    Thanks a lot,
    Floh

Hi, Sorry I don't have an answer for you. But how did you get to share /Library/Fonts? I was trying to do the same thing by using "File Sharing" in Server administrator. But under volumes, I don't see my root directory "/". So there is no way that I can share any of my folders under "/".
    Thanks.

  • Can't install fonts in user/library/fonts folder

I have a problem which has a number of different symptoms (I presume they are related as they all started at the same time):
I can't install any fonts into my user/library/fonts folder. Or, rather, I can install them but they vanish about five seconds later
I have three files on my desktop. Every 60 seconds (precisely) they vanish for about a second and then reappear
Seemingly randomly, but always when I empty the trash, I get a message saying "The last time you opened Finder, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?"
The error message I get in (3) above always disappears when the desktop files blink as in (2) above.
These problems only started in the last 24 hours. Yesterday I installed an update which took me to Mail 6.6. I also installed a Microsoft update to Word. I also installed an update for TechTool Pro taking me from v6 to v7.
    Solutions I have tried:
I have checked SMART status (no problems)
I have verified volume structures (no problems)
I have reset boot and kernel caches
    I have deleted font caches
I have reset home directory permissions and ACLs
I'm running a MacBookPro with Mountain Lion 10.8.5
I am stuck, puzzled, frustrated but hopeful that someone in this community can help me out.
If you can, I would be so very very grateful.

Also when I called Wacom support they actually had me create a new user account to install the software. It's odd that I can install the fonts in the applications folder in one user account but they do not show up in the administrator account.
As I stated, if that new account was an admin one, the fonts should be available to all users. Alternatively, they might be user specific, but you'll have to ask Wacom about that.

  • How to find font in Indesign, which is in Windows Font Folder?

    Hi
I need to use Monotype Sorts font.
This font was not in the Indesign list of fonts.
I bought the font and downloaded it to a file on my hard drive.
    It is called Monotype_sorts.ttf
I then went to Windows Font Folder in Cpanel and installed it.
I then followed advice I found on the web and copied the font to the Adobe/Indesign CS5/ Fonts folder.
However I still can't see the font within Indesign in order to use it.
Any help would be very much appreciated as I need to try and work this out very quickly.
    I'm on Windows Vista.
    Many thanks liz

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
... I then went to Windows Font Folder in Cpanel and installed it.
I then followed advice I found on the web and copied the font to the Adobe/Indesign CS5/ Fonts folder.
That was some bad advice you got there. Indesign is fully able to use all of your installed fonts -- the ones in Windows. Only a very few specialized types of fonts that cannot be installed in Windows need to go into ID's "private" Fonts folder. (And another reason would be you want to keep your Windows system 'clean'.)
The problem may very well be that InDesign now sees two versions of the same font, and refuses to let you select either, just to make things not too complicated. So delete the font in one of your locations.
If that doesn't work either, read this thread on how to reset InDesign's internal font database:

  • How to map the font folder with particular instance?

    Hello All,
I need a quick clarification on one of the requirement in InDesign Server that whether we can map the fonts folder for particular instance say if there are 5 multiple instances, can we map these 5 instances into 5 different font folders? Please advise.
    Thanks,

  • Why do my TrueType fonts (from CS5 Contents/Goodies/Fonts folder) look awful?

I recently installed the fonts that ship with CS5 Web Premium. These are located in Content dvd in the Goodies>Fonts folder. the Open Type fonts look fine but all True Type fonts are pixelated...like the font isn't really there?  Can anyone advise?

Actually those fonts do ship with some versions of the Creative Suite. They are absolutely not for any print-oriented production. And yes, they look like that.
Actually, Adobe has produced a number of TrueType fonts. There are a series of "web pro" TrueType fonts produced over the years and still available. See http://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/store/html/index.cfm?store=OLS-US&event=displayFontPackage &code=1507.

  • Question about font folder (user library)

I know there are system fonts you are not supposed to delete so that your computer operates. But is it okay to trash my font folder (in the user library) and bring over fonts off my external that I will use? I just want to make sure I am not deleting any vital fonts! Aren't those under the HD's font folder anyway? I am trying to trim down the number of fonts I have! Thanks.

  • FontAwesome appears as question marks in FrameMaker 12. I installed the font in the Windows/Fonts folder. Do I need to do something else to get it to work in FM?

I need to update our fonts/templates to Font Awesome. I downloaded and installed the font in the Windows/Fonts folder.
The font appears as question marks (????) in place of the text in FrameMaker 12.
The font appears correctly in other applications, such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.
I tried this with both FontAwesome.otf and fontawesome-webfont.ttf.
Do I need to do something else to get this font to work in FM?
    Thanks-
    Stephanie

Well, if it's any consolation, it does the ????? thing (complete with bad font metrics for the question marks) in FM9, too.
I'm tempted to blame the font, but it could also be that FM is confused by things that shouldn't be where they are. You'll notice that some of the glyphs aren't given descriptive names in Character Palette.
For example, code points U+0000 through U+001F. Those are supposed to be the C0 Controls in Unicode, and not displayable glyphs.
    http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0000.pdf
Ditto for U+0080 through U+009F, which are the C1 Controls:
    http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0080.pdf
The glyphs at these code points should either be in standard Unicode positions (where the glyph is covered by Unicode, such as that left pointing triangle at U+0011, which might have been the same thing as defined by Unicode at U+25C0 or 23F4) or in some Private Use area.
Ask for your money back .

  • What font folder does iWeb draw from?

I've created a site and uploaded it to .mac and I've copied the "domain.sites" to another laptop for further editing. The site opens up just fine but a screen pops up saying that the font "Broadview" is missing. It instructs me to add it to the fonts folder but I tried doing a search for "Broadview" on my original computer and only come up with "broadview.ps." I copied that file into all the font folders I could locate on my computer I'm trying to edit with and it still says it's missing. First, am I copying the right file and second, which folder it the iWeb application drawing the font from?
you can respond here or to [email protected] if you can help me.
    Thanks

    Raz
    Hi Raz
Basically Broadview.ps needs to installed on the second Mac which you have also copied the 'Domain' to. Go to Font Book (in Applications) and add (+)Broadview to the list. It's best keep a copy of Broadview.ps (ps stands for postscript) or its folder on the desktop for easy find when clicking +
Let me know how this works. You can email me directly : [email protected]
I am out on a shoot and checking the email is easier than opening up the forum

  • "fonts" folder

"fonts" folder on 2nd disk of cs6 prod prem what do i need to do with it? no install option

They are just the additional fonts that you get with CS6, so, if you need them, you might copy them to the Fonts folder depending on your Operating System.
    MAC :
    /Users/[user name]/Library/Fonts
    /Library/Fonts
    Win :
    C:\Windows\Fonts
