I just got a new iMac (desktop) and need to transfer all existing fonts from a G5. Fonts work fine on the G5 but when I try to install them on the iMac all I see is a blackened icon that won't open for installation. Any suggestions as to what I can do be able to install? Thx, AT

Microsoft Excel will not start up on my new IMac

I recently (July 2013) bought the new IMac and installed Microsoft (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook). All applications have been operating fine (the 5 days I have had the computer) until this evening. Excel is giving me an error: Microsoft Excel encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. It continues to ask me to send an error report. I have restarted my computer however that did not solve anything...
All other applications (Word, Powerpoint and Outlook) open properly.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

First I would delete the Excel preference file ... First, exit Excel. Then, in your user/library/preferences find com.microsoft.excel.plist and rename it to something like com.microsoft.excel.plist.save. Restart Excel, if all is OK, delete the excel.plist.save file as a new one was created when it was loaded.
If that doesn't do it, reinstall Excel ... you may want to uninstall it then reinstall if a straight reinstall doesn't work.

SKYPE and Headset not being recognized on my new iMAC.

I used SKYPE on Windows and now have a new iMAC. I have downloaded the software successfully, however, when I plug in my Logitech headset with mic the Mac doesn't recognize it. My only choice seems to be the built-in mic and speakers. My headset is Mac compatible. Am I doing something wrong?

It seems that the Logitech Headset needed to be placed in the USB port prior to signing into SKYPE. I changed to another USB port (maybe that was truly the problem) and I turned on SKYPE after. Mostly likely MAC wants everything connected before signing in. ON PC I didn't have to do that. It doesn't matter, as long as it works.

Connect the iPod to a charging source overnight and then try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IPhone 4 will not be recognized

I want to sync my new iPhone 4 for the second time but windows will not recognize it. I plug in my phone to the computer (via USB) and it will charge but it will not be recognized by the computer therefore it won't be recognized by iTunes either. Help?!?!?! Y

To update iTunes and sync an iPhone you need to be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on an Intel Mac.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

Somehow my itunes started a new library and I lost my old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music to my ipod without deleting stored music from ipod. How can I start using this new library and sync the new music without losing existing music.

Somehow my Itunes started a new music library and I lost the old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music from my computer to my Ipod because it is now in a different library. Itunes wants to delete all my Ipod music before sync any new music. How do I work around this. I think this happened during Itunes Upates.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Sounds like you may have a harddrive issue. You are probably going to need to get that changed out and then install the OS X again to get it going.

Now I cannot sign in to iCloud because it will not let me enter the new Apple ID. I read the 10/30/13 randers4 post to just change your Apple ID back then sign in and change it to the new email address again and then you can sign in, but I cannot change back to the prior email address Apple ID because that is no longer an active email account (or at least not mine). Any thoughts on how to get signed into iCloud when it does not allow me to type in the new Apple ID and the old Apple ID no longer exists.
I see that many people have asked, but no one has come up with a solution that I found.

This did not work for me. My old email account for iCloud still pops up on my screen every time I open my macbook. I've deleted it, reset it, every thing I can think of and it still shows up. I think six months of this is more than enough time to wait.

You need to keep the keys pressed for several seconds. Close down Elements. Hold down the CtrlShiftAlt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst clicking on the desktop icon for the Editor or PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Programs folder. Keep holding down all three keys until you get the settings option. You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?Click on YesThen wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences. Just installed the latest Canon printer software update (V 3.2) from the App store. Canon Pixma MX850 will not print. Dialog says job stopped at the server - no pages found. Utilities, print test page works. Printing via Airport.

Just installed the latest Canon printer software update (V 3.2) suggested by the App store in effort to get printer working after OS update. Canon Pixma MX850 will not print. Dialog says job stopped at the server - no pages found. Utilities, print test page works. Attempting to print via Airport from a MacBook Pro. Also from a Mac Pro via ethernet. Both worked before updating to Yosemite. Canon Pro 9000 Mk 2 works via USB. Tried installing driver 10.84 from OS 10.9 as suggested by PAHU; no luck.

The "stopped at server - no pages found" message would suggest an image with the print file that is created by the printer driver on the MacBook Pro. But if the Mac Pro is getting the same message then that is unusual.
To rule out a couple of causes I would try connecting the MacBook Pro directly to the MX850 by USB cable. This action should result in a new printer for the USB connection being created automatically. If not then you may need to manually create it as you won't be able to use the existing printer that exists for the network connection. With the new printer created see if this will let you print without error.
If this USB connected printer also fails with the same message then try a reset of the printing system. Note that this action will also remove the Pro 9000 from Printers & Scanners so you will have to add it and the MX850 again.

Yes - email & text work fine but when I use something like Google Images or search a blog with imbedded photos I get the empty white boxes with question marks. If I click the question mark it opens the photo but I can't possibly do that for EVERY image on EVERY page I search!?!?! I've rebooted the iPad & my wireless card several times but neither action helped. Have any clue what I should do now?
