Forced Navigation for Quiz Slide

Hi
I am working already developed course which is having few quiz slide (multiple choice and matching lines). The course was developed with standerd captivate output with default Player bar. Now client wants to add forced navigation to these quiz slide.
My question is; can we handel visibility of default 'Play bar' according to the requiremnt of slide? if not, than please suggets  the way to implemet the forced navigation for quiz screen.
Thanks
Pankaj Srivastava

Keep the default player bar hidden in the quiz as mentioned in my earlier post. Don't bother about enabling that after every right answer.
In the Edit > Preferences > Quiz > Settings, select Answer All - The user must answer every question to continue from the Required drop down list. Once the user answers a question right, he can click anywhere on the screen to continue (as mentioned by the default feedback).
When the user returns to the quiz, he can click the Next button to go through the quiz.

  • How do you set a quiz so that it does not prematurely submit after navigating back through slides?

I have Adobe 5.5 and was wondering if there was a setting for quizes that enables a person to navigate back and forth through the slides without prematurely submitting their results.
    Thank you

Not in Cp 5.5.  In Captivate 6x versions there is a new feature called Submit All that allows you to do what you want.  I suggest you think about upgrading to the Subscription Edition.

  • The answers questions not selectable in quiz slide for some users

We have a SCORM Captivate training content published on our LMS (SAP Learning Solutions). Some users can't respond to any questions in the content. For these users, the answers are locked and are not selectable. Also, the Validate and Erase buttons didn't appear.
The problem concerns about 10% of our users.
This training contains both content slides and quiz slides.
The content is published in SCORM 1.2 (SWF + HTML) with Adobe Captivate 5.5. We had the same problem for some users with the previous version of this training content published with Captivate 4.
All users have the same settings:
    Flash Player 10.3.183.11
    Internet Explorer 6
    Microsoft Windows XP

The most likely reason for this behaviour is that your 10% of users have entered the quiz and then thought they might jump back to the information slides to check the answer.  On doing so they have exited the quiz scope which immediately locks the quiz.
Have you actually watched these problem users complete the quiz?  If you are able to do so, make sure that once they start the first question, they answer all quiz questions in turn without jumping to any other slides or leaving the quiz.  If my hunch is right, the person will be able to successfully complete the quiz.
If the desire is to allow users to jump back to the content section to check information, place a scored button on the first or second slide of your project.  This extends the quiz scope and will mean that the user is still within the "quiz" no matter what slide they want to look at.

  • Is it OK to duplicate quiz slides for the sake of allowing multiple attempts to answer the question?

I am using Captivate 4 and have several quiz slides interpersed throughout my project. The user MUST get the answer correct so I am allowing them mulitple attempts to answer the question. The problem I run into is that when the question is answered incorrectly, the user is automatically brought to the next slide and is not able to re-answer the question. How can the user re-answer the question before moving on with the content? Is it OK to duplicate the question slide?
    Example:
Memorial day always falls on a:
    A) Monday
    B)Sunday
    C)Friday
    D)Saturday
If the user selects either B, C, D I want them to see feedback that says they are incorrect and to please select a different answer. Of course, if the user selects A, the correct answer, the captivate just moves on.
(NOTE: I have already added advanced actions to the multiple choice questions showing customized feedback for the incorrect answer...I just need to let the user try the question again!)
It seems like I will get into some complex branching by duplicating the slide for incorrect response...I just need to know if this is OK to do and will it work?
OR - is there a better solution
    Please help. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Sorry, but apparently we do live in different time zones, morning over here, have to teach in a few minutes.
Will try to answer this afternoon. To give differentiated feedback, depending on answers, you'll need to construct your question slides instead of using the default Question slides. That means: using Text captions, interactive objects, user variables and advanced actions.

  • Clickboxes on quiz slides

I really need to add some click boxes to quiz slides for some added navigation. Is there any type of workaround to do that since that option is grayed out?
    Thanks!
    - Kristen

    Kristen,
Could you tell which version you are using? If you are using CP5.5 or earlier, as Rod points out the static button widget could help you, because it has navigation functionalities, but you have to be careful not to leave the quiz scope. On CP6 this will be easier because quiz scope is dynamic.

  • SCORM 1.2 and Saba - Reporting a 0 Score for Track Slide views

    Good morning,
We have just transitioned over to our new LMS, Saba.  To say the transition has been rocky would be an understatement.   So, here is what I am dealing with:
I have a very basic reader course where I want to grant someone credit once they have viewed all slides.  I am using SCORM 1.2 and setting either "User Access Only" or "Slide Views Only."  If I use slide views, I set it to 1, it sends a 0 score to the LMS, even if the user views all slides.  I have been able to create a fix by assigning a point value to a click box or button at the screen where I want the user to get credit.  However, this does not seem to be what was intended.
Below are screen shots of my publishing commands, Saba screens, and communication report between Saba and CP.

I would suggest you try using Percent instead of Score, and set the Slide View completion percentage to 100 instead of 1.
Change Reporting Level to Score instead of Interactions and Score.
You haven't shown the screen for Quiz > Pass or Fail settings, but you need to set the passing percentage there to 100% as well if you intend that the learner must view every single slide.
Bear in mind that when using slide views, if you have any navigation buttons on the slides that are set to jump to the next slide when clicked, then the learner does not get a completion mark for those slides.  In Captivate you have to watch a slide all the way to the last frame in order to get it marked as completed.  If for some reason you need to get slides marked as completed despite not being viewed (e.g. when using branching) then you can use our TickTOC widget to gain credit for those slides that are missed or not watched to the end.
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/ticktoc
If you suspect that not all slides will be viewed, you can adjust the Pass/Fail percentage to something less than 100% to allow for the missed ones.
Try these changes and see if it works.
Once you DO find the settings that allow Captivate to work with SABA I would be very interested to know what they were.  I've got a page on my website where I want to show the Captivate config settings for SABA: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/lms_guide/saba  I don't have access to this LMS myself, but perhaps you or other SABA users on this forum can contribute information to make it easier for others to work with it.

  • Localization of Quiz Slide Content

I have developed a set of eLearning Modules that have already been deployed in english, and now need to be translated into 10+ languages for international use.
This process has been made faster and easier using File > Export > Project Captions and Closed Captions...
However, I've noticed that on the Quiz Slides: instructions, titles and navigation buttons are not included in the exported in the captions.doc and therefore are not automatically translated (because of the lack of inclusion) when I import the Updated Text Caption Data.
Are there any time-saving options besides just translating those Quiz Slide objects manually within captivate?
    Thanks!

    Hi MB_Design,
Thank you for contacting Adobe Support.
We would like to tell you that the standard objects or the navigation button text and the instructions have to be changed manually through Captivate.
Since the project is created in English language there is not any feature that can convert standard object ot text according to the launguage you choose.
    Thanks

  • Skip audio on quiz slide

    Hello Captivate Community,
I'm a long time lurker / dabbler finally putting Captivate  to use in some "real" projects.
I'm working with a quiz slide and I'm wondering if there is any way to control audio. I'd like the learner to be able to skip audio so I figured I could add a button to hide the audio object but I see that there is no way to add a button to a quiz slide.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Rick

    Hello Lilybiri,
Thanks for your response. I'm against using the mute button as this is a global setting and would force the learner to unmute for other slides. And I don't think your other suggestion will work for my course flow. My scenario will work like this: Learner arrives at quiz slide and audio plays narrating question and answers. If the learner answers incorrectly they are forwarded to a video remediation. After remediation the learner is returned to the quiz slide to try again. At this point audio plays again and I would like to give the learner an option to skip audio, but I see I am probably out of luck.

  • How to add click box/button to QUIZ slides??

We have a basic quiz for our online course. At the top of the
quiz we have a navigation bar with next, back, main menu, help, etc
which we use a click box to make link.
However, when we're on a quiz slide the click box and button
option are grayed out. You can't access them at all. How can we fix
this?? We HAVE to have the top navigation be functional as it is
for the rest of the slides. Help!

I'm having the same general problem you are.
I got this response a few days ago:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=464&threadid=1374767
Its a little different question but I think the answer can be
applied to both: Its not in the program to allow users to fully
customize question slides. Unfortunate, but a reality I guess.

  • Quiz Slide Pausing Issue

I'll do my best to explain my situation. I just got Captivate 8, and am just getting comfortable with the environment. But for the life of me, I can't figure out why my quiz slides are pausing at the end and not continuing to the next slide. I am using master slides, and custom navigation buttons. My intention is to not include the built in playback controls, as I wanted to have my navigation stylized and placed a bit differently. I do have Playback controls enabled currently, to help me troubleshoot the issue. My Back and Refresh buttons work fine, but whenever I click the Next button (set to the Continue Action), it will complete the current slide, but pause somewhere in the transition. The only way to continue at this point is to press Play in the Playback controls. I've tried making this button a master slide button (by using a smart shape, and selecting Use As Button) and I've tried putting the button on each individual slide, but the problem seems to be the same (or similar) no matter what.
Thanks in advance, and feel free to nag me for more details.

Well, this is what I get for being an idiot. You made me realize that there was something silly I was overlooking. I had a button in the Master Slide that was set for the Exit action. I guess that action automatically has a pause at the end of it in the timeframe, so it adds an extra, unwanted pause if included on the Master. I removed it and placed it on each individual slide, and it's working fine now. But for the record, In Captivate 7 I was just using a blank master, and (stupidly) copying every element that should have been templatized onto each slide... I'm not the greatest self-learner.
Thanks a million for pointing me in the right direction.

  • Quiz Slides not appearing second time through

    Good afternoon,
In my current project, I have used self-built quizzing slides using clickboxes (thank you lilybari!) and used some quiz slides.   In this part, I am not reporting the data as this is only the teaching section.  For SCORM purposes, I am only recording slide views.  I have also created my own navigation buttons for forward and back.
When I view the section the first time through, I see the quiz and other slides properly. For some reason however, if they use the back button to see the section again, the quiz slides either appear again and get stuck or do not appear at all.  I would like for them to see all slides again if they go back as that is the whole purpose of the back button feature.
I have attached a portion of my project where this is occuring.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Eric
PS Thanks Captivatr for your help earlier!

    Hello Eric,
Will try to have a look at your project later on today (exams for the moment). Cannot open your file, no CP here.

  • How do you limit TOC navigation for multiple users on one computer?

If you have 5 Adobe Captivate 5.5. Projects linked together to play consecutively how can you set up a TOC so that each new user starts from the beginning  and can only go back to slides that the new user has viewed?  We have  the TOC set to Enable Navigation, Navigate Visited Slides Only, and View Status Flag. This is a required training video that will be taken by many users.  We need them to be able to go back to the sections that they already viewed but not be able to see the sections that others have already watched.  In other words, we don't want them to be able to advance ahead to the sections that the previous test takers have viewed.
    Message was edited by: DOLOnlineTrainers
    Problems:
    •     Remove the TOC and they have no navigation abilities to see something they may have missed
    •     Keep it in and the viewer can advance to parts they have not viewed as the previous user set the ability
    •     Put a back button in and they can only go back one at a time and have no ability to get back to where they were if they keep hitting back other than watch over
    •     Tried the clear button in TOC under status flag which clears the status flags yet it only works on one section at a time and does not clear all linked projects
    •     Is there something we are missing? Tried reading blogs and really can’t pinpoint problem

To get each user to have a different experience when viewing the content, you need to have some way for each user to be uniquely identified, otherwise the browser has no way of knowing that THIS is not the same person that was looking at the content an hour ago.  The way this is normally achieved is by getting users to log in as a different profile.
There's no EASY way I can think of to achieve what you want WITHOUT users having different profiles.  You would need to get some custom HTML programming done by someone that basically mimicked separate browser sessions under the same login.  It's theoretically possible, but I've never been required to do anything like this.

  • How do I add interactive objects to a quiz slide?

Hello, I'm having a Captivate 5 problem and can't seem to find an answer on the web or in the forums.  I'm creating a quiz in which I'd like to ask multiple choice questions.  For each answer option I'd like the user to be able to click on something - the answer text, an additional image, something - that would open a web page in a separate browser tab or window.  That new window would contain information related to the linked answer option.  This way the users can assess the relevance of each option in relation to the question.
I've tried using the "Advanced Answer Option" option but that only opens a window when the answer is submitted.  Before I sat down to do this I was thinking I'd just add image buttons on the page, but it turns out that I can't add buttons, text inputs and several other options in a quiz slide.
If anyone has any ideas on how to work around this I'd really appreciate hearing them.  Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hi Steve, thanks so much for the quick reply!
The Button Widget does the job admirably, I can add it in and even make it invisible with the alpha setting so it appears that an image is the actual link.  Totally lets me do what I wished!
    Thanks again!

  • Cp8: Advanced interactions - Can't get 'Forced Navigation' through buttons to work

I am going a little crazy because I am tring to do something fairly simple, and I've done it before. I've reached a point of despair.
I'm just trying to do a 'forced navigation' thing where the user has to all of the buttons on a timeline before they:
    1. Play audio file from the library
    2. Show continue button (which is hidden in the properties panel)
My (failing) method so far is to do this:
    1. Create a variable for each button that is equal to 0.
    2. Create a Standard Actions that assigns a value of 1 to the variable (on success)
    3. Attach the Standard Actions to each button.
    4. Create a conditional action that says if the value of all the variables are equal to one, then the continue button will be shown, and the audio will play.
Seems logical to me, and other sources online seem to suggest that this is correct, but it doesn't work.
Can anyone help me out? I am desperate and in a hurry.

You need a conditional action with two decisions for each button. If you are on CP8, would recommend a shared action personally, and put it in a file that you can always reuse as external Library. For one button action will look like this:
There are multiple threads showing this same solution. And on my blog there are several use cases as well.

  • User cannot Click Anywhere to Continue on some quiz slides

In Captivate 4, on some quiz slides, after the correct answer has been submitted, the user must click on the "click anywhere to continue" box in order to move ahead. This happens only on some quiz slides. Others, the user really can click anywhere. And, this doesn't happen all the time on every computer. It usually happens on the same slides but not always. It happens in Explorer and Firefox and occasionally Chrome, but not as often. Haven't encountered the problem using Safari, yet, but have tested it.
I reported it through the report bug link in case it is a bug. All of the slides have the same setting, so I don't know why it's happening on some slides and not others.

    Hi there
Thanks for reporting as a bug. I might suggest that as a work around, you change the captions to read "Click here to continue". At least it would guide the user to the right and expected outcome.
    Cheers... Rick
