Forecast MRP query

Hello,
We are implementing forecast based MRP and I found all the planned order are based on consumption/forecast values. but if an extra sales order in created(special order), system does not create special 'requirement/planned order' to fulfill the same.
But just make an entry in MD05, after MRP run...
Is this because of 'forecast based planning'?
And system in informing the MRP controller to make decision and create the Purchase requisition/order manually !!!
Please suggest.
Regards,
JPS

Hi,
In case of forecast based planning system plans based on forecat values. but now if you enter sales order now, system checks the avaliable stock in plant, if stock is avaliable system will not create any plan for this sales order
if stock does not avaliable than it will look for planned independent requirement in back period if gets it will consume that PIR.
if PIR not avaliable in back dates than it will look for PIR in future period but within defined lead time ( based on delivery dates)
and consume that PIR.
if nothing avaliable than system will plan for those sales order and this is based on stretegy group you assigned in Material master.

• Production List and Sales Order list on the basis of Sales Forecast - MRP

Hi all,
One of our user wants to use MRP. what he wants is that he puts sales forecast in the system and in the basis of that sales forecast, 2 reports should be generated from system , one will tell that when production should be started to meet sales forecast for every finished good and 2nd report will tell that when sales orders should be created for raw materials to achieve sales forecast for every finished good.
Is that possible?? Please tell me in steps that how I should I proceed? what changes should be done in SPRO and in master data?
Please respond.
Best Regards,
AI.

Hi AL,
As such, this is a basic functioanlity of MRP.
Once you enter a forecast & take a MRP run system proposes, when to start the production based on the production leadtime & purc.reqns for the raw materials based on the procurement lead time.
And the same can be viewed from various reports..FOr example MD04.
For this to work the MRP configurations should be valid.
Could you please confine your question to a specific query..?
Thanks & regards

• Automate Forecasting MRP Process

Hi Guys,
we are using Consumption based planning , i am using MRP Type PD .
Consumption data will be loaded in the forecasting view of Material Master.
I will be executing the forecast using MP38 and Using MD61 (I copy the forecast requirements as PIR's)
and then Later Run MD01 for the MRP run.
Is there anyway I can Automate the Steps involving different transaction codes as a batch job so that when we schedule the MRP Batch Job during Night.
so that Buyers can see PR's and then later convert into PO's
Thanks
Sweth

Hi,
yes, you can do that...create variants for programs of MP38, MD61 and MD01...and schedule the jobs independently...with the some time gap based on your data..
Schedule the jobs in SM36 and released.
Hope it helps you.

• MM-MRP query

Dear All,
1) If we keep Collective requirements only (2) rather than Blank or 1 in MRp4 then what will be the impact on Purchase & MRP Run
2) What are the configurations needed at SPRO level for automatic generation of PR during MRP run?
Regards,
Indranil

Hi Indranil,
1) Please read F1 help for field MARC-SBDKZ:
Dependent requirements ind. for individual and coll. reqmts
Indicator determining whether the following requirements are allowed for the dependent requirements of the material:
Individual requirements
Requirement quantities of the dependent material are stated individually.
Collective requirements
Requirement quantities of the dependent material are grouped together.
Use
You can maintain this indicator in the following places:
In the material master record
For the explosion type of the BOM item (in Customizing for Basic Data in Define Explosion Types)
The setting for the explosion type overrides that in the material master record.
Dependencies
If the material is assigned to a material type that does not allow quantity-based inventory management in this plant, you can set the indicator to individual requirements only.
If the stock is to be managed in sales order stock or project stock, the indicator must be set to one of the following options:
Individual and collective requirements
Individual requirements only
If a material managed in project stock is to be procured from another plant using a cross-company-code stock transport order, the indicator must be set to 2 (collective requirements) in the issuing plant because, in this specific context, individual project stock management is not possible in both plants.
E.g. if you are in MTO environment and you use 1 in this field (of the component) then the dependent requirements (of the component) are generated in special stock segment of MRP. In case of value "2" dependent requirements will be generated in the "main" (e.g. plant) segment of MRP.
2)
- You have to maintain the proper procurement type in MARC-BESKZ ("F") /or if you use quota arrangment, then in MEQ1)
- You have to run MRP with proper selection paramters (e.g. 1-3-1-3) in MD01 / MD02 / MD03 - Please check creation indicator, F1 help:
Creation Indicator for Purchase Requisitions
For materials procured externally, this indicator controls whether the system:
creates purchase requisitions for the total planning horizon,
creates planned orders for the total planning horizon which are manually converted into purchase requisitions at a later date,
creates purchase requisitions within the opening period and planned orders outside the opening period.
Dependencies
In the single-item planning run, the system always uses the creation indicator specified in the initial screen of the planning run. The creation indicator maintained in the MRP group is not taken into account.

• MRP query related to MTO and MTS

Dear Gurus,
I have got 2 Plants.......Plant A(Manufacturing Plant) and Plant B (Selling Plant)
My scenario is Make to Order, where the sales order is getting created in Plant B(selling Plant) for Export Material
1)when I run the MRP for Export material by MD50 ......Planned order should be created in Plant A and it should show in MD04 screen then only I can convert that planned order into production order.
2) After confirmation of that order and after GR.....stock should go to Plant B so that SD person will deliver that stock to the respected customer.
3)when I run the MRP by MD50, in the material BOM.....if any shortage of RAW MATERIAL OR PACKING MATERIAL then collective PR should be created in Plant B(selling plant).
what setting we should maintain in Meterial master related to PP for all raw/packing/semifinish/finish materials in both the plants related to MTS and MTO?
Could you provide me solution for the above queries.
Max

Dear
This can be achieved by using special procurement type (80 production in another plant) in all production master data (material master for inhouse production, BOM, Routing and production version) will be made in plant B and in plant A same material will have material master for MRP i.e. MRP group, MRP type MRP controller Procurement type special procurement (80) in MRP2 production storage location, planning strategy etc.
you can see in MD04 for plant B delivery plant will be A. and in MD04 for plant A planning plant B.
production order will be confirmed in plant A and GR will be done in Plant B.
and purchase requisitions for component will be raised from plant A. if all components are required to be procured in plant B, all component will have also special procurement either 40 Stock transfer (proc.from alter.plant)
or 70 Withdrawal from alternative plant.
I hope this will solve your issue. Kindly let me know if your issue will solved or not.

• BI Query- Conditions

I have a question regarding a Forecast/Sales query that I created. Let me set the scenario for you:
I have 3 key figures: Forecast Qty, Sales Qty, and Sls/Fcst
In my rows I have:
Material Group, Material, and Fiscal Year/Period
I have a Condition which is Active that only pulls Material that we Forecast. So that Forecast division is set to:
Forecast Qty Greater Than 0
Characteristic Assignment is set to Material
I have 2 more non active Conditions: One for Sls/fcst Less or equal to 69 (basically less than or equal to 69 %)
Another for: Sls/fcst Greater than or equal to 70 (basically 70% or more).
When I run my query obviously my Forecast Condition is the only one Active. However, when the users toggle on the 70% or more condition they want to see the Materials in Descending Order
When they click on 69 % or less, they want to see the Materials in Ascending Order.
Any idea on how I would accomplish this. Sorry if I am unclear on any of this.
Thanks,
Gerard (using Maximina's profile)

Sorry...I should have made that a bit clearer!
I have already got a condition based on my Order Value key figure for where Order Value < 50, but no matter what settings I choose it doesn't return what I know to be correct.
If I set it to Characteristic Assignment - All Characteristics, it doesn't return account number 100000 (The one where I know 7 out of 11 orders were below £50)
If I set it to Most Detailed Rows - It shows the same as the above
If I set it to Most Detailed Column - it returns account number 100000 but shows all 11 orders
If I set it to Individual Characs & Select 0Sold_To - it returns the same as the 1st 2 settings.

• Help required for improving performance of the Query

Hello SAP Techies,
I have MRP Query which shows Inventory projection by Calendar Year/Month wise.
There are 2 variables Plant and Material in free charateristics where it has been restricted by replacement of Query result .
Another query is Control M Query which is based on multiprovider. Multiprovider is created on 5 cubes.
The Query is taking 20 -15 Mins to get the result.
Due to replacement path by query result for the 2 variables first the control M Query is excuted. Business wanted to see all those materials in MRP query which are allocated to base plant hence they designed the query to use replacement Path by Query result. So it will get all the materials and plants from the control M query and will find the Invetory projection for the same selection in MRP query.
Is there any way I can improve the performance of the Query.
Query performance has been discussed innumerable times in the forums and there is a lot of information on the blogs and the WIKI - please search the forums before posting and if the existing posts do no answer your question satisfactorily then please raise a new post - else almost all the answers you get will be rehashed versions of previous posts ( and in most cases without attribution to the original author )

Hi ,
Please see if you can make these changes currently to the report . It will help in improving the performance of the query
1. Select the right read mode.
Reading data during navigation minimizes the impact on
the application server resources because only data that
the user requires will be retrieved.
2. Leverage filters as much as possible. Using filters contributes to
reducing the number of database reads and the size of the result set,
hereby significantly improving query runtimes.
Filters are especially valuable when associated with u201Cbig
dimensionsu201D where there is a large number of characteristics such as
customers and document numbers.
3. Reduce RKFs in the query to as few as possible. Also, define
calculated & RKFs on the Infoprovider level instead of locally within the query.

• How to handle same material number but different condition?

In our industry(aerospace aftermarket), we can have inventory for one material in different conditions, e.g new, overhauled, scrap, etc. We use batch management and store the condition at the batch level. This probably was not the best way to handle this and now we're wondering how we can run MRP for a specific material, but only for certain conditions.
From what I understand MRP only occurs at the material level, not the material-condition level. Is my assumption correct? Obviously, we would not want to include scrap inventory in any MRP or forecasting calculations. So if we had 10 for material 1234 in inventory, we'd want to exclude the amount that's scrap or any other condition we don't want to include in a forecast/MRP.
Is there a best practice that someone can share to handle this type of inventory management issue? Thanks!

• View's in the Material Master

Hello,
With regards to the material master data:
(a) are there more views to a material that are dependent on the plant except for: 'costing', 'Forecasting', 'MRP', 'Production Resources/Tools', 'Purchasing',' Quality Management' and 'Sales'?
(b) why are they dependent at the plant?
(c) why does the basic data depends on the plant?

Hi Shadmi!
Here is d answers,
a) are there more views to a material that are dependent on the plant except for: 'costing', 'Forecasting', 'MRP', 'Production Resources/Tools', 'Purchasing',' Quality Management' and 'Sales'?
--- Except Basic Data1 and Basic Data2 all other views are plant dependent.
(b) why are they dependent at the plant?
--- Because these datas may vary plant by plant. For example cost of material may change from plant to plant since it depends upon in which price the vendor is supplying to you.
(c) Why does the basic data depends on the plant?
--- Not at all. Basic data view is specific to company code level.
Cheers,
Yuvi.

• Disable scrollbars for some columns in matrix

Hi,
I created a form which includes a matrix. This matrix contains a lot of columns. Because of the amount, the matrix automatically creates a scrollbar at the bottom.
I don't want the matrix to have a scrollbar on the first and second columns. Is there a possibility to set a column of which the scrollbar starts.
The form in which the user can enter a forecast (MRP > Forecasts) contains this feature. When specifying a date range in this form, the first two columns are not included in the scrollbar at the bottom of the matrix.
Can anyone tell me how this is done?
Thanks in advance!
Jerrel

Hi Jerrel,
I don't think this is possible, but to double-check, please export the MRP>Forecasts form to XML - and check what might be special, but I suppose you won't find anything...
Other than that you could just define 2 Matrixes and have them just side-by-side - but of course this would get tricky when it comes to vertical scrolling etc.
...but maybe someone else has a better idea?

• MD04 for PR

When my user goes to MD04 for material A, they see a list with DepReq, POitem, PurRqs
The DepReq is auto generated from our forecast / mrp upload.
So when Planner has convert a planned order to firm planned order, user will need to check whether there is any shortage of Raw material. But based on their current view, they cannot different whether which DepReq is from which Firm Planned Order
Any solutions?

Hi Shantha,
From the "Element Details", we are able to see the "Planned Order" number. But it didnt indicate that whether it is a firm or not firm Planned Order.
Even if Planner were to inform them the firmed Planned Order number, Purchaser will have to check line by line to see which DepReq correspondence with the Firmed Planned Order.

• DP forecast release on MRP area

Hi Experts,
We are having multiple MRP areas within a distribution center. The sales history is available in R3 with the associated sloc as the delivering sloc.
Can i get this history in DP , do a forecast & release it on MRP areas in APO? What are the precautions to take care in this cycle.
Regards,
Vinay

Hi Vinay,
If you want to do forecast in MRP area level in DP, than follow the below steps:
1. CIF MRP area to APO using integration model.( MRP area will be appeared in APO as Location)
2. Create a characteristic with MRP Area.
3. Do forecasting at MRP area level or dis-aggregate to MRP area level.
4. Release the forecast to ECC.
Hope this answer your query.
Thanks

• Input query with dynamic actual & forecast values by month per year

Hello,
I am working on a Input ready query for a forecasting application which shows both actuals and forecast numbers and the user will revise the forecast numbers by month
Requirement: I want to build a Input query for monthly forecasting for the current year. It will be dynamic rolling of months with actuals & forecast data.
E.g. My report has 12 months for the current year
and if run the report in May, the months before May has to show the actuals and the months after May has to show the old forecast data so that the user will revise the numbers again in each month and save the data to the real time cube.
Jan.Feb.Mar.Apr.May.Jun.Jul.Aug.Sept.Nov.Dec
Act Act Act Act Act Old frcst for the remaining months
user will revise forecast for these months
So, i am able to create Input query with all restricted key figures( plan kf has change mode set to change, actual kf are not set change) and calculate key figures and all the logic is done on dynamically moving/rolling the data based on the input month of the year.
But the problem is that i am using cal kf to dynamically roll months, i was not able to set the change option for the cal kf.
So, how can i make sure that the dynamically changed plan months will open for entering forecast and the actuals months not to change?
Do you guys have any better solutions in implementing it?
I really appreciate it your input....:)
Thanks,
Srini

Hi,
Please look at the following DOC which may be useful to you and if so please grant me point.
Regards,
SUbha'
Input-Ready Query
Use
You use input-ready queries to create applications for manual planning. These can range from simple data entry scenarios to complex planning applications.
Integration
You define a query that you want to use for manual planning in the BEx Query Designer (see Defining New Queries).
In the Web Application Designer or the BEx Analyzer, you can combine the input-ready queries with other queries and planning functions to create complex planning applications.
Prerequisites
You can define an input-ready query on any of the following InfoProviders:
● Aggregation levels (see Aggregation Levels)
● MultiProviders that include at least one simple aggregation level
The aggregation levels are created in the planning modeler; MultiProviders are defined in the modeling functional area of the Data Warehousing Workbench.
Features
Definition of an Input-Ready Query
Once you have defined a query on an InfoProvider, you see the Planning tab page under the Properties of structural components (for example, in key figures or restricted key figures). The options provided there allow you to determine which structural components of an input-ready query are to be input ready at runtime and which are not. With structural components that are not input ready, you can also determine whether these components are viewed as reference data or are just protected against manual entry.
For the structural components, you also have the following options:
Input readiness of structural components of a query
Option
Description
Not input ready (reference data)
If they are being used as reference data, the structural components are not protected by data locks to ensure exclusive access for one user because this data serves as a reference for many users.
This is the default setting.
Not input ready (no reference data)
If you want to protect structural components against manual entries but allow changes by planning functions, you can use locks to protect this data for one particular user. In this way you can ensure that the planning function works with the displayed data only and not with data that has been changed by other users.
Input ready
You can also determine whether an input ready query is to be started in change mode or in display mode. You find this property in the Query Properties on the Planning tab page. If there is at least one input-ready query component, the query (as long as it has not been determined otherwise) is started in display mode.
In BI applications that use input ready queries as data providers, you can enter data manually at runtime. For more information, see Performing Manual Planning and Creation of Planning Applications.
Example
You want to create an input-ready query for manual planning for a plan-actual comparison of revenues for a set of products. You want the plan data in a real-time-enabled InfoCube and the actual data in a standard InfoCube.
1. Create a MultiProvider that includes the InfoCubes for the plan and actual data.
2. Define an aggregation level on the MultiProvider which contains the characteristic Product and the key figure Revenue.
3. On the aggregation level, create two restricted key figures Plan Revenue and Actual Revenue. For restriction, choose the characteristic 0INFOPROV and restrict it to the plan or actual InfoCube.
4. Add the restricted key figures to the key figure structure. Insert Product into the rows. For Plan Revenue, choose Input Ready for the input-readiness option. For Actual Revenue, choose the option Not Input Ready (Reference Data).
5. In the query properties, set the indicator that determines whether the queries are started in display or change mode as required.
Example of an input-ready query
Product
Plan Revenue
Actual Revenue
P01
20
P02
30
If you want to keep actual and plan data in a real-time enabled InfoCube, you do not require a MultiProvider for the task described above. Create an aggregation level on the InfoCube and define the input-ready query for the aggregation level. In the example above, a version characteristic acts as the InfoProvider. Create restricted key figures with the plan or actual version and proceed as in the previous example.
