Hello everyone . Grandmother here and horse and buggy is my speed on these computers.
I have set up a password on my computer and cannot remember what it is.
I want to update all of my software but it will not allow it.
Anyone know how to help me?

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

My guess is that you previously synced the iPhone with a different computer in the past. You will probably want to set up Home Sharing.

Itunes will have me erase my phone before I can sync it. How do I keep from losing all of my content (apps, app configs, settings, accounts, notes, voice memos, pictures, songs etc.) Do I need to use iCloud to back it up? If so, I'd rather not spend money on more iCloud space.

How can I recover my master password, set up by mistake, without losing all my existing login / password data?

When touring the latest version of Firefox I created a master password and unfortunately never wrote it down. Now I must get my Church's taxes and W-2's done and I'm unable to login to my state and IRS/SSA accounts as I don't have my latest logins and passwords because they were all stored in my older version of Firefox. Both of the links you posted clearly state that resetting or removing my master password will result in the loss of all my existing login and password data. I wouldn't have a problem with that if I could save or print out my current, but hidden by the password manager until I enter my master password, login and password data which I could eventually reproduce within password manager. Unfortunately this is the only place where I have all that data recorded and we are talking about many many lines of login data!

You can't. Your only option is to restore the device to factory settings in iTunes.

Those terminal commands will wipe out all of the databases, not just the Wiki.

If you haven't backed up your iPad or if you have never synced with iTunes, there is no workaround. The only way to unlock it is to restore it and that means that everything will be erased from the iPad.
You can download most of your paid content again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought it with originally.

Your iTunes purchases are associated with your iTunes account not with the device (kind of but not really). So that's why you're able to have your apps and other purchases on more than one device at a time (max of 5 computers and not sure if there is limit for devices - anyone know if there is?). So when you deregister a device, it only affects that device, not your purchase history. So if you get another iPad, you can easily configure it with all your purchased apps and media and everything. You should make sure you have everything backed up in case there is any content that you created on the iPad (like documents or spreadsheets or ...) so that you can restore them to the new iPad.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If she creates her own iTunes account she can't use any protected content purchased under another account. She can play unprotected content synced from an iTunes library on a computer, but she can only download content from the cloud that is purchased under her account.
It's a pain I know, but the longer you put off the move, the worse the situation will become.
