Form Automanaged/Modes, how do they work?

Hi,
i have to manage a form which table stands on a different DB than SAPB1 DB.
I set Automanaged to false, but when i press find button on the toolbar the form mode switches to fm_FIND_MODE.
All fields become yellow (some fields becomes yellow only when they get focus...!) and when i return from my search form i set values to fields but they don't display value even if i manually set form mode to fm_UPDATE_MODE.
Comboboxes strangely display correct value.
Can someone help me please?!?
Thanks
Paolo

Hi,
Do you want to use the toolbar buttons for Find etc - or not?
To disable the buttons set SupportedModes to 0.
To avoid that the OK button switches to "Update" when you change e.g. an input field or select another value in a ComboBox - set AffectsFormMode for these items to False - or have the OK button have a different UID!
Regards,
Frank

  • DBAdapters and polling - Exactly how do they work?

Can someone help me clarify a point please on how a DB Adapter polls for changes on a Database please?
I'm looking at this as a starting point for an ESB process so I would be grateful for any other relevant information you could provide.
    1) Is this just based on the last time the row was updated?
    2) Is this going to mean a big table scan for large tables, unless you create a new index to ensure this is more efficient?
    3) What happens if the Db that the adapter is looking at is down? Will entries be lost, or will they be picked up with the last updated time?
    4) Do the db adapters work differently for Oracle Transparent Gateways than that when using a Generic Gateway such as MySQL?
    Many thanks
    Chris
    (updated)

answering as best I can [ don't work for oracle ]
    1) Is this just based on the last time the row was updated? - well the best is to clear the row [ ie delete it when you're done reading ] because otherwise you need a logical deletion strategy based on a sequence key -see the Database Adapter Manual for more.
    2) Is this going to mean a big table scan for large tables, unless you create a new index to ensure this is more efficient? - No. Again, see the Db Adapter manual.
    3) What happens if the Db that the adapter is looking at is down? Will entries be lost, or will they be picked up with the last updated time? Since [ IMHO ] the sequence key or whatever will be in the same DB as the source then it will be transactional and picked up then as well.
    4) Do the db adapters work differently for Oracle Transparent Gateways than that when using a Generic Gateway such as MySQL? .... My understanding was it was all JDBC and kind of generic ....
But I agree this very important part is very badly documented indeed.
My own bugbear is the lack of accurate documentation around once-and-once only guaranteed delivery [ addressed to some extent in the current 10.1.3 SOA Best practices - but you have to hunt really hard to find it ]
The same goes for ordered message delivery.
Out of the box ESB should provide once-and-once only in-order message delivery; the documentation never tells you whether it does or not [ i.e. if a message is in the Hospital all the other messages should stop behind it ] ... do they or not ? what is the absolute conditions for this ? where is the advanced JMS/Queues discussions around this ?
Putting little Synch/Asynch diagrams doesn't really help at this kind of detail level.

  • File permissions: how do they work?

    Hi everybody,
I've noticed a few posts on the forum here about file permissions, and it's made me quite curious. I'd really like to know how that works, and I have a few questions I hope somebody can answer.
    1. When you set a file's permission, say, canRead() is false, does that mean a human can't read it, the system can't read it, the JVM can't read it, or some combination of those options?
    2. Is it possible to set canRead() to false for a file contained in a jar so only the JVM can read it? (I guess that's kind of an offshoot of the first question)
    3. Are the canRead() and canWrite() functions some kind of lock on the file, like a password, and can they be overridden by a user?
I think that's everything. If I think of anything else I'll probably post it, but for now if anyone can answer these 3 questions (or even one of them), I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

Read the descriptions for canRead() and canWrite() for yourself. If I tell you you'll know what I said if you read it for yourself you'll know.

  • Bookmarks / Folders: How Do They Work

I have made folders for my bookmarks, and I thought I'd be able to see them in my bookmakrs menu, similar to how the bookmarks bar menu works by expanding... is that possible?

If I drag the folders onto the Bookmarks Bar they then go into the Bookmarks Bar menu and then I can see them that way
Sorry Tom. I misunderstood your original post. Thought the folders were already on the Bookmark Bar.
"Yes" to your question. You'll see the folders on the Bookmarks Bar and in the Bookmarks Menu. If you click the book icon on the left of the bar, you'll also see them in your Bookmark Manager Window.
If you don't want the folders on the Bookmarks bar, rather just in the Bookmarks Menu, click on the bookmark icon to the left of the Bar. Then drag any folders showing under Bookmark Bar to the Bookmark Menu on the left side of the window under "Collections".
Otherwise, just leave the folders on the Bar and they'll show up in both locations.
You can move the bookmark folders around on the bar or in the bookmark manager window. You can also drop RSS feeds (must be activated in Preferences) into folders and place them on the bar. The folder will show a number count indicating updates to the Feeds (number count of new items does not show up in the Bookmark Menu).

  • MetaData Keywords, - How do they work? How can I get them to sync so that my colleague can see them!

    Hello,
I work with a couple of other people who use Adobe Bridge (CS2) on Windows XP computers. We have a extensive amount of photographs that we are trying to organise. To do this we want to add some kind of tag like say, 'People, grass....etc' so that they are searchable by this info as well as there file name. I've played with adding to the Description on the Metadata window and then applying it as well as adding keywords. Although the keywords work for me (i.e. are searchable-come up on my results), my colleague on her computer gets nothing up on the search, - we've tried all the search options, keywords, all metadata....etc. Vice-versa, she's added loads of keywords to photo's but when I search them by these keywords - I get absolutely nothing
We are both accessing the same photo's folder on the same server. Can anyone help? It's driving us mad. We really need to get this kind of thing working! Any suggestions????? Is there some kind of syncing setup we need to do??? We don't have a manual as thats with IT. If anyone can help, or even offer links on tutorials, we would be extremely grateful
    Any assistance, greatly appreciative.

I remember something similar months ago and did a quick search. Hope this link describes your problem, as it does offer a solution.

  • Snapshots... How do they work precisely?

In RawShooter we have this one-click snapshot feature. We can make several of these on the fly, delete them, select between them in lightning speed, but lightning speed and easy interface does not surprise, its RawShooter after all, the best of the best of the best ever written.
Now in RawShooter we have in "D" module this "Snapshot" function, which allows to make named snapshots of the image. However, I still failed to discover how in blazes does it work? I made some edits, made a snapshot, made another and in the 2nd snapshot I clicked on "reset" to have now one edited and one unedited version of the image. My impression is, that "reset" resets all snapshots to unedited version.
    Do I do something wrong?

Oh my god! It is getting more and more complex by the minute!
Thanks for all the hints, seriously, I will look at the virtual copies and of course, and the using history is indeed a possibility, however very convoluted and error prone because similar entries might belong to edits on different snapshots.
If the RESET button is so destructive, I would like to remove it from my GUI.
Lack of (say) crop memory in RSP snapshots is a valid point, but it does not change anything on the fact that RSP provided us with excellent way of making them and selecting them. A RawShooter v1.1 might have had a separate crop added to each snapshot, there.
I also observe that the raw conversion on RSP provides more detail than the Lightroom. Amazing, this is the essential part isn't it?
Well deserved sarcasm on Adobe on:
I will now go make that 2nd PhD, it will maybe help me to grasp the arcane complexity and convoluted maze of options in this baroque GUI... And I wanted make.... photography, you know, see the light, point at your subject, press the button, enjoy the result, or be horrified by it. Currently I am just lightrooming, cameras be damned.

  • Back-ups on Time Machine - How Do They Work?

Time Machine backs up every hour, then at the end of the day it exchanges the hourly backups for a daily backup. That works fine.
BUT, according to the directions, at the end of the week, it is supposed to replace the daily stashes with one weekly stash, and eventually, the weekly stashes with one monthly stash. The daily works; the others do not.
Am I misunderstanding the process here and it really doesn't do all these exchanges of smaller backups for a larger one, or is something wrong that I need to fix?
Thanks....TM is new to me and I'm not quite able to figure it out.

Can you explain your observations that lead you to believe the weeklies do not work? Monthly? I don't think there is a monthly "stash." It's hourly for 24 hours, daily for one month, and weekly until disk is full.
I'm looking back at my archive and it seems to have logical date-time stamped folders. The weeklies do not continuously adjust day-by-day based on the end date of the one-month daily backups. If the oldest weekly backup is 1 March, the next oldest is 8 March, and then 15 March. Those dates will not change.
I don't know technically how Time Machine merges the backups.

  • External hard drives - How do they work?

Sounds like an idiotic question I know, but I recently invested in a 4TB LaCie external hard dive, so that I could finally get to grips with Time Machine and have plenty of space for my photographic images.I have only used an external drive before before to store or transfer files, but I don't "get" how it works.
    Two questions puzzle me mostly:
    - do I have to leave the LaCie switched on the whole time f?
    - likewise, while that the incremental Time Machine backups are going on, do I need to worry about how the La Cie will process photo files at the same time, or do I switch Time Machine off instead (in which case, what is the point of it)?

    1. You need to have it on when you’re using it. If it’s off when Time Machine creates a backup, a local snapshot will be created.
    2. You shouldn’t use it for both Time Machine and storing the photos; it’ll eventually fail. You’re better off using a different external drive for regular file storage and setting Time Machine to back it up as well.

  • How do they work?

I'm thinking about getting a headset for my original iPhone. I like to keep the iPhone in my pocket in a case. I want a headset so I can answer the phone without fishing it out of my pocket. Do most or all headsets allow this? Is there a button on the headset you push to answer a call?
I work in a somewhat noisy environment. I'm thinking about a Jawbone, for the noise canceling. I've seen some negative things on this board, mostly about the new jawbone and the new G3 iPhone not working together reliably.
Can anyone reccomend the Jawbone for use with my original iPhone? Any better options?

Do most or all headsets allow this?
    Yes
Is there a button on the headset you push to answer a call?
    Yes

  • Illustrator CS3/Photoshop CS3 - how do they work with MS XP64 and MS Vista64?

I am building a new computer and am trying to decide whether to use XP 64 bit or Vista 64 bit.
I currently have Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop CS3....but will surely upgrade to CS4 at some point.
What is your recommendation for OS choices I've noted? Any horrible experiences with either?
    Thanks.

CS3 and CS4 run without problems on my 2 year old XP64 machine at work (Dual Xeon, 8GB RAM) and should work even better on Vista 64. Apparently, if you want to use the 64bit version of Photoshop CS4 with working OpenGL, you have no choice in the matter and must use Vista64bit. For the "normal" 32bit version this limitation does not apply and it runs nicely with hardware acceleration on my end (Quadro 5500, needs the "Allow old GPUs" registry hack). Illustrator in that regard should be even less critical, as it does not use any hardware acceleration at this point except for drawing the interface....

  • Smart objects in 10 - how do they work ?

    Hi,
I am just curious...are smart objects editable non-destructively?
    Thanks for your help.
    Best,
    Angus

For the most part smart objects in photoshop elements are limited to transform operations.
Of course you can get more out of smart objects with actions or scripts in photoshop elements.
If you want to see the full functionality of smart objects, i suggest you download the trial of photoshop cs6
to fully grasp the concept of smart objects.
