Form Fields are Inaccessible

I am trying to make a form ADA accessible. The form was created in Word. I set up the preferences in Word to ensure that it was tagged properly. Once in Acrobat X, I used the Forms Wizard to make the form fields interactive. I modified the form fields as needed, corrected the tabbing order and ran the Full Check Accessibility rpt. The rpt tells me that the form fields are inaccessible & need to be tagged. I have tried to tag them using the Reading Order Touch Up tool, but have had spurious results. When I select the field, it appears as if it is creating a tag, but only one has taken and has been numbered. The base doc is one large table and contains up to 9 form fields in one cell. From an accessibility standpoint it appears that Acrobat does not like form fields inside table cells. Am I correct?

I have occasionally encountered a form field that refused to be tagged. The only recourse I have found is to delete the form field and recreate it. In my experience the replacement field could always be tagged. This would be a lot of work though if you are talking about many form fields. If you find an easier way please post it here.

How to find which form fields are duplicated

OK I've been making several forms in PDF to merge together at a later date. Now I merged them but its telling me I have multiple form text fields that are named the same. How can I find out all of which form text fields are named the same so I can change them. Is there a search function to do that or not?

Thank you for your response and if i wanted to remove the form fields then this would defiantly help me. I am actually trying to put a few different PDFs together to make one big PDF and I have form fields that are named the same, per the message I get when merging 2 PDF docs. Because there is so many form fields to go through I was wanting to know if there was a quick way to see all the form fields that are named the same so I can go change the name of them. I want to keep all the form fields just cant have any of them named the same. thanks

HELP!!! Wierd CF 9.02 issue when "to many" form fields are posted in "post" method

So we just installed cf9.02 64 bit on all brand new windows server 2003 machines and migrated all code over and we have run into the wierdest (and very dead on the water) issue, any form posting to a cf templae with a "large" amount of fields using method = "post" barfs, works fine with method = "get" or with a smaller amount of fields. Here are some "basic" examples I pulled out of our app:

...there is nothing in any of the CF logs indicating any kind of errors, it just flat barfs on forms with post method and a large amount of fields, clearly a MAJOR issue as our app has lots ot screens with lots of fields!!

You might investigate the postParametersLimit and postSizeLimit values in your server's neo-runtime.xml file. I suspect you'll need to increase the values for those two settings. Remember to back up this file before making any changes. You will need to restart the CF server to apply any changes made to the settings in this file.

Why are my duplicated form fields rotated 90 degrees?

I'm duplicating form fields from a portrait document (Doc 1) to a portrait document (Doc 2) that was originally landscape.
Step 1: I rotated the landscaped document (Doc 2) using the right toolbar under pages and saved the document.
Step 2: I inserted the portrait document (Doc 1).
Step 3: I duplicated the form fields from the Doc 1 to Doc 2 but the duplicated form fields are at 90 degrees.
How do I correct this?

Delete all form fields in one go

I am using Acrobat X Pro.
While running the accessibility check on my PDF, I got an error that there are many form fields that are not tagged to the structure. When I highlighted the fields, I noticed that all these form fields are redundant and can be safely removed. Is there a way I can remove them in one go for the entire PDF document? I saw that there is page-level deletion option where I need to do a Select All and Delete. But how about entire document level?
Few of my colleagues have Acrobat XI Pro. If this is not possible in X Pro, please let me know we can do it in XI Pro. I can check that out as well.

Go to Form Edit mode, enter the Fields list, press Ctrl+A, then Delete.

Link/RE-link to word docs with form fields?

Trying something new, and when I took the InDesign 2 day class the instructor was not very familiar with linking to word docs, she just never used the feature.
So, I have multiple contributors who will onlly work in word. I am trying to set up a template/form for them to fill in that I can link to my .indt.
I have the styles set up and matching, and I'm looking for a way that I can lock everything but the areas where they need to fill in information. My plan is to do this by making a form in Word with text fields. Will this transfer over to the InDesign file when I relink? If not what is an alternative solution using Word with out having to copy and past all the time ?

OK Yes this is possible.
I do mean for it to link, the content is dynamic I need the technical people to be able to edit content before I get it. The point is to have multiple contributors working in word (absolutely must be word), creating new content that can be fed into indesign relatively automatically while preserving the InDesigns styles applied to certain text frames.
It does need to link back to get content updates so I have this option turned on in the general preferences to allow this.
The word documet is set up, as follows:
Form fields are created, along with their respective titles or headings. A style/structure element is applied. The style doesn't have to match what is in indesign but it is helpful.
Click the text box and got to "Place"
Select the document and select the "Show Import Options"
Under import options select "Preserve Styles and formatting..." Then Select the "Customize Style Import" radial and click style mapping. I tried doesn't this with the Automatic Import and it didn't work properly, custom mapping will identify the right information to style while overiding the actual style information from Word and instead uses the InDesign Style.
So... not necessarily a job for InCopy, though I realize that would be better, working in for a Microsoft Partner Network Gold Certified Partner, it would be impossible to get everyone to switch over to InCopy.

No editable form fields in ABAP Web Dynpro

Hi,
I created a form with layout type ZCI. The interface type is "ABAP Dictionary-Based Interface".
This form I embedded in a abap web dynpro component.
In the ABAP WD interactive form element I marked the enabled property.
Unfortunately the displayed form fields are not editable.
When I use a interface of type "XML-Schema-Based Interface" the fields are editable.
Is this a bug or is something missing?
I am using Live Cycle Designer 8.1 and SAP_BASIS 7.0, EHP 2, SP07

Hi Eddy,
In your Interface, you probably have to pass the "Fillable" flag in your importing /1BCDWB/DOCPARAMS structure.
I've developed many forms over the past few years and have learned that when using web dynpro, it's almsot exclusiely easier to use the XML-based schema than DDIC.
The only time I'm using DDIC instead of XML when in WDA, is because I'm having to pass in rich text formatted objects through a Text Node.

Reader-enabled form from Acrobat is retaining interactive form fields when user saves the form

This is an issue that has only recently come up. In the past it was not a problem to take a pdf, add interactive form fields to it in LiveCycle, then open the form in Acrobat and enable usage rights for Reader users.
This allowed Reader users to fill out the form and save the results. With the most recent versions of Acrobat and Reader the user saves the form and the data AND the interactive form fields are saved in the resulting file - meaning that the data is still there to be changed. Clearly not what we want and not what Acrobat and Reader were doing previously.
The form does properly display "You can save data typed in this form" when opened in Reader.
I have got no response to this issue in the LiveCycle forum, and nothing shows up in a search. I would very much like to fix this, as it is affecting our entire library of pdf forms.

In most instances the form is linked on the website, so the original form will cannot be overwritten.
In some cases we have to supply an interactive pdf for a department that they will then distribute by email to various groups who are expected to fill the form out on submit on an ongoing basis. That is what I was meaning by the user filling out the form, printing it, and then being prompted to save changes.
The bigger issue is that most of our users expect to take a form hosted on the website, fill it out, and then save a pdf copy of their responses for reference. The reference copy is retaining the interactive fields rather than printing as a static pdf.
If I could force the action of printing as a pdf (rather than saving as a pdf) on submission I think that would solve the issue. The script for most of the forms in the library is xfa.host.print(1, "0", (xfa.host.numPages -1).toString(), 0, 0, 0, 0, 0); and I am not aware of a way to force the print to only be to the pdf print driver.

Need Help with Custom Form Field Backgrounds

I'm tryng to add a custom background image to a file upload
field in a form and it is not displaying correctly in Firefox. Is
there a way to do this? The background shows up fine in other
fields just not in the field that I apply ( type="file" ) to.

Using an ArrayCollection of a Class in form fields

So I've seen loads of examples of this with datagrids, But I'm looking for somoe advice to following a proper path to perform the following. Any advice would be great to help me minimize my experienting to get this right.
I have a simple Class I made with 10 or so different properties......
I have an arraycollection of data of the type of the class created above. ITs populated with data from an httpservice onload.
In FLEX, I have a form which allows the user to see and edit via textboxes each of the 10 or so properties per instance of the class, and a 'forward' and 'back', button that advances one record in the array collection (or back).
What i want is a way to directly BIND the textbox of each property in the form to the property name, and be able to index forward and back. If the user changes the data in a text box when a particular instance is up, the binding should update the correct arraycollection/property instance.
What is the best way to go about this index type binding in a form. I know this has got to be easy, as the datagrid does this? Just I want to do it to a different displayer (form fields)....

I have a main application and a custom component that extends form.
The main application holds the arraycollection, and the form fields are in the compoent. (Excerts below). The problem I'm having is that it seems bindings don't reference back to the main application. I've seen other complaints about this online as well. Is there a way around this? Seems like a crippling drawback. how can I bind or pass in to a component an arraycollection from the main applciaiton.
When I run below I get nothing brought into the form... Get through Debug, the arraycollection is populated in the main app.... Help?

I cannot place an electronic signature in a document with form fields?!

I have Acrobat Pro installed on a windows 7 and windows 8.1 machine. On both I have lost the ability to place an electronic signature (Draw my signature) and only have the option for a digital signature. The problem is remedied if I print to pdf but then I lose the form fields.
I'm an idiot and so are the people that I need to send this to. I just want to easily fill the necessary fields out, draw my signature and forward it to the next guy to do the same so that it can be printed and turned in. Digital signatures are severe overkill for this (and i'm not going to be able to teach everyone how to create one) and I need to know how to re-enable the ability to electronically sign and keep the form fields.

Yep, I discovered that as well.
I rolled my own "signature" for a client...I just added a 3 character "initials" field and a "Certify" button.
The initials act as the signature and once they hit the certify button, all form fields are set to read-only....via custom javascript.
The only problem is that I am unable to SAVE the document via javascript because of Acrobat trusted functions....
which I don't have.
So I just prompt the user to Save the document at that time.
It's a little ugly, but it works..

CS3/Designer ES - PDF Form Fields

Hello,
I currently create my flyers through AI and convert to pdf for electronic distribution. I am hoping to have end user inputted information through form fields in my pdfs. Is there a way to create form fields in AI that will be exported as such when being converted into a pdf?
Can I go from AI -> Designer ES -> pdf?
Or is the process AI -> PDF -> Designer ES -> PDF?

No. But you can use Acrobat's Replace Pages command. Change the form in Illustrator and save (no need to make a PDF). Open the old form and go to Document > Replace pages. Replace the page in the current form with the new Illustrator file. The form looks like the Illustrator file but form fields are retained in their old position. If the changes require moving form fields then you still have to do that.

Adobe X Pro Form Fields

In Acrobat 8, I was able to justify a form field to left, center, or right and also vertically justify the field box to either top, center, or bottom. Right now, all my form fields are vertically centered. I want teh form field when filled to be bottom aligned to it prints on the lines of my form.
I can't figure out the new Adobe X...the old way was much easier. Any help?

Text fields created in LiveCycle Designer allow that. Text fields created in Acrobat can be vertically centered or bottom aligned, but only if it's set up for rich text formatting and the user selects it. The point is you as the form creator cannot set the vertical justification for a field created in Acrobat.

Form Field Border

I have a black page with a form on it. My form fields are
dark gray (set in CSS).
When I view the page the form fields have a white border
round them.
How do I change the border from white to black or gray so it
cant be seen?
NB On other sites with a white background the forms have a
gray background, but I cant find where this is set either.
Any help much appreciated!

Microsoft Word Form Fields and Adobe Acrobat X

Using a Microsoft Word document where form fields are protected - if you save in Adobe Acrobat X - - you only see your changes - all the old data is lost.
Acrobat does not seem to have a solution.

You have the option to print the Word form and data to a PDF.
You have the option to use OOO.org, that export to PDF forms.
If you are talking about updating the content of the form and not the fields, create a new PDF under a different name and then replace the PDF page in the PDF.
