Form mis-behaving

Sorry to keep bothering you.
I believe that, if I can get my form up and running, I will
be ok and won't
have to keep asking for your help.
The ID of my form is 'Problem_Report'.
Problem:
The script NEVER does the focus¹ on the
name¹ field thing when I leave the
name field blank. It DOES, however, always send the email and
the thank you
page per the formmail script (renamed: report_it.php).)
1. either it always returns true¹ (It DOES always

2. or it¹s not making the test

I know that no one responded to my question - but I figured
out the
answer(s):
1. Braces {...} must be balanced.
2. a function defined in the <HEAD>, when called from a
'Submit'-form
button, thinks that that form is its whole universe. No need
to specify it
in the validation code.
3. the Function definition needs an ...(arbitrary_variable)
to hold
whatever returns from the validation code.
Well, that is it as far as I can tell.
Just thought I would try to close this out in case someone
stumbles across
this 'thread' on a search or something.

Smart Objects mis-behaving in Photoshop 5.1?

I'm using Pshop 5.1 on Win 7 64bit
Cince Adobe introduced Smart Objects in CS2 (I think it was CS2 - I jumped from 7) they've becom I standard part of my workflow that I use all the time
However, having upgraded from CS4 to the latest, smart objects don't seem to be working correctly - the problem is when saving them in order to return to my original image (with the smart objects contenst updated) I am asked to 'save as' - and the Temp folder is displayed - in other words, Photoshop is forcing me to save my smart object as a separate file which I'd then have to re-import into my original image, which would completely defeat the poin of using them in the first place
It doesn't always do this..
But I don't think it ever did it in CS4...
Is there a Photoshop expert out there who can tell me why this is hapenning?

A functionality change?
Can it be fixed? It is a royal pain. For example in my current image, I drag and drop an image in from a WIndows Explorer window, and Photoshop makes it a smart object - I click OK. I then open the smart object, use the Quick Selection tool to remove white edges that I don't want, double clcik the layer to turn it from 'Background' to 'Layer 0', and apply a layer mask to remove the white background I've selected. I then save, and instead I'ma sked to Save As, as I've described

Is the original a jpeg? In that case transparency or layers are not supported, which is why you get Save As.
If you flatten it, it should behave normally. Or better, save the original to a different format first.

How to identify mis-behaving startup app?

I've probably changed something but for the life of me don't know what. When booting up my Bold 9780 I get an error message informing me that an app "!" is terminating because it has been denied email permissions. The only problem is that I don't know which app is doing this. Is ther any way to catch this? And, shouldn't RIM insist on certain standards when accepting an app for the app store - like it identifying itself in error messages?
Any bright ideas would be appreciated.

It is not easy to guess which application is causing this error , But you can do that , On your Homescreen Go to Options > Device > Application Management > On that screen highlight an application > Press the menu key then Edit Permission > Beside User Data = make sure it is set to Allow , or press the menu key > Expand > then scroll down to Email and check if it is set to Allow ,
In this way you may have to check each application that you have on your device to know which application is causing this error during startup.
Click " Like " if you want to Thank someone.
If Problem Resolves mark the post(s) as " Solution ", so that other can make use of it.

Swap Image behaviour mis-behaving

Hi All
Not sure whats happening here, returned to FW CS5 after a few months of doing other things and I cant seem to get the swap image behaviour to function...
Well thats not quite right, it does but the wrong way round...
If I have state one green square and state two red square and I place a slice over green square on state one and add the swap image behaviour and select the corresponding slice area in state two, when I press F12 you'd expect to see the green square which would turn rd on mouse over - wrong, I get the red square and if I mouse over if flickers green.
FW is showing me whats on state two...

Genius - never thought to check animated gif export bit and never realised you could have all the swap images on one state!
I guess because there are less states the page will load quicker?

j'espère que certains parlent français et pourront me venir en aide...
Afin d'automatiser les mises à jour des produits sur mon catalogue, j'ai lié mon Indesign à un fichier Excel. Les modifications fonctionnent très bien (prix, référence...), c'est vraiment pratique !
Voici mon problème
Pour rendre le catalogue plus sympa, j'ai appliqué des styles sur mes textes "liés" (style de paragraphe et de caractère). Lorsque que je ré-édite mon lien Excel, c'est la catastrophe : toute la mise en forme saute ! J'ai essayé plusieurs paramètres d'importation (texte tabulé non mis en forme, mis en forme une seule fois), mais cela ne fonctionne toujours pas.
J'ai vu qu'il existe Easycatalog mais je n'ai pas de budget pour l'achat d'un plugin ou d'un nouveau logiciel. Avez-vous des solutions pour que mon catalogue garde sa mise en forme ?

Ce qui se passe est le comportement normal d'inDesign : puisqu'il y a un lien avec le fichier Excel et que celui-ci a des attributs typographiques différents, le fait de mettre à jour le tableau rappelle les attibuts typo du fichier source.
La solution consiste à créer des styles de cellules et ou de tableau, ainsi que des styles de paragraphe (et de caractère).

RE: prob with line item text in PO print form

Problem with SAPscript
I have A problem with PO pronting form. In the PO craetion(me23n), IF we mention certain text in last line item the PO printing form is behaving uncertanly.
If the text limit to a particular line is mentioned , then PO printing in only first Page and otherpage is not printing where further data is supposed to print.
If we exceed the limt , its again printing correctly in 2 pages with all the data. If we decrese the limit aslo printing fine.
My problem is , I could not understand exactly where the problem is coming. while debugging Befor the text apperas in form I have an inlcue like this form.
INCLUDE &T166P-TXNAM& OBJECT &T166P-TDOBJECT& ID &T166P-TDID& LANGUAGE &EKKO-SPRAS& PARAGRAPH IX.
IS the prob exist here?

Hi,
Header Long texts will be different from Line items long text, i think you are passing the long text for line items, so check how the long text is coming in debugger of the sapscript for each line item.
Look at the Text Element ITEM_TEXT in the Main window of the sapscript. It has the INCLUDE which holds the text you are talking.

Making a form portlet reusable by allowing a parameter to be passed to it

I have a form that allows maintenance on records. I need to filter the records that a user can maintain, (and insert) based on a column value. I can accomplish this by setting the default value for the (hidden) column. When I query and maintain the records in the form it behaves correctly by only affecting the records for the default value. Now I want to place the form into multiple pages as a portlet.
The goal is to be able to change the default value for the portlet (reuse). I've seen many postings on how to pass things to and from forms, but nothing seems to address allowing a user to easily customize the portlet.
Any bright people out there have a creative solution to this?

I discovered the way to do this is by making the form based on a procedure and creating link to the form. When a form is based on a table or view, the link will pass field information and return records, when a form is based on a procedure there are no records to retrieve so it sets values passed as default.

Form doesn't update fields in Adobe Reader XI

I created a form in Acrobat X Pro, it has a bunch of radio buttons the user must select. The last page is the results page, which has JS code that is executed when entering the page. If I test the form in Acrobat X, the results page properly updates the results fields as soon as you enter the page.
But if I open the page in Adobe Reader XI, the fields in the result page will not update until I save the page. This didn't happened before, forms always behaved the same in Acrobat and Reader. I also tested forms I created months ago, and had the same result.
Does anybody know what's going on here? Thank you.

After doing more testing, the Page Open event works in Reader but is very slow updating the result page that has the code and uses the Page Open event.
In Acrobat happens instantly, but in Reader takes a loooong time, sometimes seems that doesn't even update, as it takes forever. Wonder if my Reader's settings are screwed up?
Basically you have two pages, page one with a 4-choice radio button and, page two with a text field to report the value of the selected button choice.
Page two has the following code as Page Opens:

Converting PDF Forms to Word and Then Back to PDF with Forms In Tact

Hello,
We are currently having a heck of a time replacing some keywords in a collection of about a thousand PDF forms. These forms were created in Word without any interactive functionality and then converted to PDF. The simple form interactions were then added using Acrobat.
We figured out a way to replace all of the keywords by converting the PDF to Word, and then running a Visual Basic macro that does a Find and Replace on all of the documents at once. Our problem is that we lose the functionality of the forms when we convert them to Word. The docs have to be converted back to PDFs, and putting in all of the form interactivity in each file would take far longer than we have.
Is there a better way to go about this than we're attempting?
Is there a way to do these conversions and keep the interactive forms?
We essentially want the forms to behave exactly as they did, just with a few keywords changed.

XML Schema binding - dynamic form

I am new to Designer and XML. I have been given a basic interactive form and have persevered for a couple of (often frustrating) weeks to extend its functionality to link to an xml schema and provide for dynamic record creation. Unfortunately I am still having problems when adding new instances of subforms.<br /><br />I have a main form for reporting issues. Underneath it there are major components on a subform (can be multiple major components for each issue) and under major components are sub-components (can be multiple sub-components for each major component) on a child subform of major. I can add and delete instances of the subforms for both levels of records.<br /><br />I have created an xml schema based on the form since it already existed, and so the form fields have not inherited properties from the schema. However, I have bound the fields in the form to the xml fields through a data connection. The schema basically looks as follows (bot not literally the same as you will see from the tags):<br /><br /><element complextype issue><br /> <element issueId string/><br /> ...<br /> ...<br /> <element complextype majorcomponent unbounded><br /> <element majcomponentname string/><br /> ...<br /> <element complextype subcomponent unbounded><br /> <element subcomponent string/><br /> <element quantity string/><br /> ...<br /> ...<br /> </element><br /> </element><br /></element><br /><br />My problem is as follows: <br /><br />When I add an instance of a sub-component or major component subform, the first new instance appears to work correctly. However, every subsequent one inherits the values of the previous record and when it is changed, it changes the values of existing fields of the same name but of a different node. When I change each element in the xml schema to "unbounded", the forms appear to work properly but the values are then not nested correctly in the outputted xml data file (many records will appear under one sub-component, for example, when a new sub-component should be added for each).<br /><br />I suspected my problem might be that the "unbounded" property in the schema of the major component and sub-component elements are not linked to the Designer form because the major component and sub-component subforms are not bound to the xml schema. The reason they are not bound is because if I bind the subform, the first element, major/sub component name as applicable, loses its binding.<br /><br />I am sorry if this doesn't make any sense but I am hoping that someone might recognise the problem I am talking about as it is really creating much bother.<br /><br />Thanks.

Thanks Justin for the reply. Unfortunately I can't explain exactly what was happening because I didn't keep sufficient notes and now the form is behaving differently. You are right in that when I bind the subform to the xml schema element, child fields do change their bindings from a full to a relative path. I had seen this before on all except the first field on a subform, which had losts any binding reference at all.
I finally gave up on the schema and bound the forms to sample xml data. This fixed my problem. Now (several days later), I have revisited the problem and deleted my data connection to the xml file to connect to the schema once again. I am quite sure I have not changed the schema at all, nor the form, but for some reason it now appears to work correctly.
I will continue to work with it, once again but thanks very much for your interest.

Bulk form creation, merge, and retrieve form data

I am new to acrobat, and can't even find a place to start for what I want to accomplish. I have a directory with 1000 single page pdfs (filenames are data_0001.pdf, data_0002.pdf, etc.).
For every single page pdf, I want to embed a form with a radio button list containing several options and a comment text box.
Every page needs a unique form ID that can be related to the original single page pdf filename.
I want to merge all the single page pdf files with the embedded form into a single multi-page pdf.
A user looks through the multi-page pdf and selects from the radio button and adds comments on every page, and saves the pdf.
I then want to export from the saved pdf a three column spreadsheet or csv file with columns
"original pdf filename" "result of radio button list" "comment text box"
I need to do this at least 100 times, so each stage needs to be scripted.
Can anyone point to a link for anything remotely close to the work flow steps needed to accomplish this with acrobat.

You can use a batch process to add the form fields to each PDF. You should make the field names for each page unique, so that when you combine the individual pages into a single PDF, the form will behave properly. You can base the field names in each PDF on the original file name to achieve this. To add field with a script in a batch sequence, use the doc.addField JavaScript method: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.435.html
You can then combine the single page PDFs with form fields into a single PDF, either using an external script (e.g., VBScript) or a script in Acrobat, but you'd need the list of files to combine, especially if you care about the order of pages. Acrobat also has the "Files > Combine > Merge Files into Single PDF" feature, but I can't say it will work to combine that many forms at once, so you'll just have to see.
As for exporting data, This too can be scripted. I'd suggest that the script can create the data file that gets added to the document as a file attachment (data object), which can then be extracted. Creating a tab separated text file is simpler than ensuring a properly constructed CSV, so that's what I'd be inclined to do. A user is not able to enter a tab character into a form field, so you shouldn't have a problem with this. Skip logic in Acrobat X forms

Can I use skip logic in Acrobat X forms, or do I need to go to Forms Central?

It's possible since you can control fields with JavaScript, but depending on exactly how you want the form to behave, it could be simple or rather complex. You have more options if it doesn't need to work with Reader, and you may want to look into creating the form in LiveCycle Designer as it allows you to create more dynamic forms.

LOV & Query in Forms 10g not working

Hi All,
I have a strange problem with custom forms that i am developing using Dev Suite 10g (10.1.2) for Oracle AS 10g (10.1.2.0.2).
When i test the form in DevSuite the LOVs in the form are working properly, but after i deploy the form on the server and use the default config the LOVs stop showing up.
The same happens with Execute Query. There is no error message displayed either.
Since the jiniitator was downloaded from the same server, so that cannot be the problem.
The version of java used is also the same, 1.4.2.
I have no idea why the forms are behaving like this on the server. Any help would be great.

Changing the default setting for forms in Acrobat 9

When I go into forms in Acrobat 9 and use a Word doc to convert to a form the default boxes created initially are text. IS there a way to change the default so the initial boxes created by the program are checkboxes?

No, you have no direct control over how the Form Wizard behaves. There are things you can do with the design of the source document that can influence how automatic field recognition works. For example:
