Form Settings/Change of descriptions

Hi,
I've amended the field descriptors on a number of BP screens to make input for users easier i.e. changed Street, Building, etc to Address1, Address2 etc. using the user [manager].
I then copied the form settings from manager to all other users. Several users but not all have informed me that they cannot see the revised field names i.e. they continue to see the default name for that field. I then logged into 3 separate PCs, using manager and the same company. On PC1 & PC2, the new field names are visible, but on PC3 they are not. This was done post copying the form settings.
Has anyone come across this problem and if so, what was the solution?

Table Format order and visibility in Form Settings keeps changing

Dear Experts,
We are facing a concurrent problem where there is constant change in the table format of the form settings in marketing documents.
The columns order keeps changing and also the visibility box which will be ticked, becomes again unticked the next day for particular columns which are used.
Event though it is set one time in manager login and locked the doc settings for other end users. The format keeps changing.
It has to be set dially manually. Is there a permanent solution for it .
Please let me know . Please find the attached pic for it.Its SAP B1 8.82 PL6

Changing Form Settings during Form Load

Hi,
I am populating a grid from external database using stored procedure and enabled Form settings for that user defined form and while loading the grid, I have made some fields visible false.
After loading the form, when I open the form settings, their visible property is set to true and when I change the Visible or Active in Form settings, it is not reflected in Grid. Please help me on this regard.

I tried the same logic before posting the query here. But still it is not working.And while loading the form, I am hiding it and populating a stored procedure and binding a datatable to grid and making the form visible. Also I tried hiding the columns after making the form visible.
And when I open form settings , by default the visible column is checked for all columns (including hidden columns) and whatever changes we make in form settings, it is not reflected in grid.

Form Settings getting cleared for system form

Hi All,
I have added the code for setting editable=false for the following items in Updatemode and Ok mode.Then in add mode,i made the columns to editable = true .First time it is working fine.
the next time, I got the error message as "item is not a user defined item" on ItemCodeCol.editable = true.Then i check the form settings, the Active field for the itemcode cleared.When i set to Active as checked and run my code,it is working fine.How to solve the issue and how to avoid the setting of the fields.

Hi,
This is not UDF in system form.That is , the itemcode,itemname,qty,warehouse field in the content tab of the sales quotation form.when i change the field to editable and noneditable,
1)it is allowing to set the editable property to false and true for the first time.
2) After adding the record,i navigate the record to check ,at that time,as per my code,in update mode,it is not allowing to edit.
3)When i click add menu,and i chose customer, at that time it is not allowing to add a itemcode,becoz the itemcode field is disabled.
4)when i check in form settings, in Table format, Active gets unchecked for the above fields.
5)I want to avoid this changing of active in form settings.How to to this...

Security settings change when rendered from third party Windows 2008 R2 server

We created a fillable PDF form in Adobe Acrobat and made it Reader extended. Opening the form on a local hard drive the security settings show that Signing: is Allowed. We can sign documents in the form with a signature pad.
After we upload it to a third party Windows server 2008 R2, and we later go to access the form, the server renders it back to us in Adobe Reader. We are unable to digitally sign documents in the form with a Topaz signature pad. We notice that although the form was originally created with the form being Reader extended the security settings change to Signing: Not Allowed.
How can we get the server to render the document back to us where we can digitally sign documents in the form?

The second file still shows the extended rights header is present (it's warning you about restrictions at the top of the dialog while also reporting the method is "no security") but the digital signature which grants those extended rights will be invalidated if *anything* in the file structure is changed. I suspect in this case that the server software is doing something to your file; it may be trivial such as adding an XMP tag, but it's enough to break the hash check.

Form settings problem

Hi Experts
I have a user defined form with 4 folders inside each folder there is a matrix(total 4 matrix). But my problem is that when i select form settings every time first matrix form settings will be displayed. I have to access the form settings of other three matrix also. Any ideas on how I can do this..please help me

Hi,
You can display settings for other matrixes. You need to change Form.Settings. Just assign matrix unique id which You want to display in Form settings to form's propoerty MatrixUID.
You wrote that You have 4 folders with 1 matrix in each folder.
Folder1 - Matrix1 (UID = M1)
F2 - Matrix2 (UID = M2)
F3 - Matrix3 (UID = M3)
F4 - Matrix4 (UID = M4)
If You click on any folder You change Form PaneLevel to display relevant matrix. At the same moment change Form.Settings.

Form.PaneLevel = 1
Form.Settings = M1
F2
Form.PaneLevel = 2
Form.Settings = M2
F3
Form.PaneLevel = 3
Form.Settings = M3
F4
Form.PaneLevel = 4

Form Settings Authorizations and Add-on Administration

Hello Experts,
1. please help me that how could I un-authorize any user to change the "form settings".
2. with one user when I try to access Add-on Administaration option it says "You are not permitted to perform this action", whereas this user has got the full authorizations.

I have checked the user preferences for Add-on Fixed Asset. I have checked it, in user preferences. It is set to Manual. But error is still same, when I click the option : Add-ons >> Add-on Administration >> it says "You are not permitted to perform this action."

Changing the description field in AP Invoice

Hi is it possible to change the description field in an 'open' posted AP or AR invoice? I assume you have to credit note the invoice and re enter it with the new line item description which seems a long way around when only the text is being changed and not the coding or amounts.

All marketing documents, whether closed/open, do allow the user to change the remarks/narrantion. This field is located in the Footer Fields - left corner of the form.

Change Item Description in Purchase Requisition

Hi,
Purchase requisition is created automatically from the maintenance order in IW31.
Here the requirement is to change the item description (Short Text) in the purchase requisition.
In ME52N when I tried to manually change, the item text is greyed out.If at all we have to change the item description what is the procedure.

You cant change this Text in ME52N, for this you need to change the description of operation in IW32. PR take default text form IW32 component tab page so you can change this text same will reflected to you PR.

Deleting Column using Form Settings issue

I have a problem deleting a column from the Sale Order Enty screen. I added the Bar Code column to the Sales Order Entry grid to 5 users using Forms Settings. I decided to delete it from all 5 users, so I went back to Forms Settings and deleted the column. Actually, I checked the Visable check box to have the Br Code column displayed and then I unchecked the Visable check box on the Form Settings form.
The problem I am experiencing is that one of the 5 users, I delete the column, and when the user logs back into the system again, the column is back, and I have to delete it again. This happens each time the user logs out and then back in. Has anyone else experienced this problem? And if so, how did you resolve it?

This user's profile must have some problems. One way to check is log this user in another workstation to see. Make sure only one session for this user whenever you change and save form settings for the user.

I was trying to paste the thread.however couldn;t do it for some reason .
let me paste the contents for you .To get to original thread--search in forum for Form setting --within year .
In summary, Once you fixed what you want ,then you have to create addtional authorisation with Form id and restrict user to solve your problem .
You will need to create additional authorization and in the Form ID enter 63771
and now from the Authorizations window expand User authorizations and highlight and user and make sure that the Form ID Authorization you add has No Authorization
Open Admin > System Init > Authorization > Additional Authorization Creator
In this window ..click on Add Same level
In the Authorization Details Area enter an Authorization ID (any id) and name
On the Options Select Full/None
Click Edit button and in the Form ID column enter 63771 and Click Update and Update again on the main window.
Now you can Open Admin > System Init > Authorization > General Authorization and on the right hand window you can see at the bottom User Authorization if you expand it you will see the name of the Additional Authorization you just created.
Now highlight the user and select the Authorization

We have several users in our company and each time we make a change to our form setting we need to change all the other users manually as we want everyone's screen to look the same.
How can we just change one users form settings (i.e., information shown on the columns headers when we do a find or info displayed on the S/O columns, etc.) and have it apply to every user in our company?

Java doesn't pick up system's DNS settings change until restarted

Hello,
I have a service running on a few Linux computers. Those computers have a NIC, which is configured with a fixed IP address. So /etc/resolv.conf contains the IP address of the LAN's DNS server. But most of the time, the computers are not plugged into the LAN at all. Instead, they connect themselves periodically to the Internet by establishing a ppp connection. When it happens, the ISP's DHCP server assign them new IP parameters, including their DNS server's IP address. And /etc/resolv.conf gets updated with this address.
But it seems that java doesn't take care of DNS change taking place during a run. Which means that my program (started at boot with no connectivity at all) tries to connect to some host, and obviously trigger an "UnknownHostException" (at that point it does try to contact the LAN's DNS server). Quite logical. Later, the ppp link become active. But my program still try to contact the LAN's DNS server, despite the new configuration in /etc/resolv.conf. As such, it will forever trigger UnknowHostExceptions, until it gets restarted (it will then pick up the new settings) or it is plugged back into the LAN (it will finally reach the LAN's DNS server).
This is quite a problem as during one single execution, the machine may encounter several DNS configuration changes, and this problem basically means that it will be impossible for my application to resolve any name at all.
So is there a way to tell Java to re-read the system wide DNS configuration? Or is there some option to prevent Java to "cache" the DNS server to use?
To demonstrate my problem, I've written a simple test case, see below.
To get the problem:
1) Put a bogus DNS server into your /etc/resolv.conf
2) Start the test program. Wait for some time: it will trigger UnknownHostExceptions.
3) Fix the entry in /etc/resolv.conf, and check it actually works (eg ping www.google.be)
4) Test program will continue to trigger UnknownHostExceptions forever.
One interesting fact is that someone tried this test on Windows, and didn't suffer from this behaviour, eg the application reacts to DNS system settings changes dynamically. So it looks like a Linux-only problem.

Well, the nameservice property allowing to specify my DNS server of choice is interesting (I didn't know about those), but not very usable, as the DNS server to use is not known in advance (it may be whatever the ISP tells me to use at the time where the ppp link gets established). So no real solution there.
The fact that it caches /etc/resolv.conf content for 300s is very interesting, but having no possibility to impact on this duration really is a pity. There should be some kind of property to fix this behaviour. So as you say, a custom provider may be the only solution.
So far, the hack I use to get this working is based on code similar to this one (it is presented here in a similar form than my test case above). Obviously, reading the /etc/resolv.conf for each dns resolution is not an option in a real environment, but you get the idea.
