Formatting of error/success messages on reports

Hi all!
How can I change the formatting of the error/success messages in the page.
How can I change the background colour of the box displayed? Is this done within the theme section?

Hi Lena,
You need to modify the page template I think. On the page with the list of templates, choose to show "Page" templates, and as an extra filter, choose to view only "Templates Referenced". You should be left with a small number of templates. Choose the one and look for the #NOTIFICATION_MESSAGE# and #SUCCESS_MESSAGE# and put your styling around those. I think that'll do it.

Dynamic formatting of Process Success Message

I have read through some of the threads that have already been raised re dynamic formatting of the process message and haven't seen how/if I can do what I would like.
I have a form with multiple process buttons which call a package and return an error code and message.
I then wrote a function to take the error code and message and a couple of other fields to format an appropriate response.
The process may return successfully but still have the error codes set (or may be null). I did note that could raise_application_error but would still have to go through some process to format the response.
But when I use the function as the response message it is just treated as a text string.
So for example I get
Action Processed.nva_batch_validate.format_response( 'VALIDATE', VALID, , );
rather than
Action Processed - Validation Successful
or
Action Processed.nva_batch_validate.format_response( 'SUBMIT', 'APPROVED','-20004' , ' Some error with submission' );
rather than
Action Processed - Submit failed Some error with submission
How can I get the Process Success Message to recognize that this is a function not text?
Or can I have another process which just uses my format_response that would put message into the Action Processed.
I don't want to have to go done the raise_application_error as I'd have to format the response within each procedure that is called and who knows what other issues this would raise.

Then put &P1_MSG. in the process success message field.

BDC - error/success messages

Hi All,
I'm running a BDC program for PA61 but I'm getting wrong return message codes coming back after the upload. For example, if an unassigned personnel number is used a 'success' message code is sent back to my program and not an 'error' message code, as expected. Is there any way in BDC to specify a way around this issue. Thanks.

In general, you have to do some controls in SAP for upload data if it is possible. Let me give you an example for example we are getting a material number from file and we will use in our BDC program. So before using the material number in BDC program, we have to look at MARA (Material Master Data) table to decide it really exits in the system or not.

the srw.message builtin was ment for debugging purposes and not
so mauch for end-user interaction.
if you want more functionality you might want to create this in
oracle forms and call oracle reports from there.

Error / sucess message in processes

got kind of a 'stupid' question:
I updated a page (which contains a list) and set error/sucess messages for an insert/delete process (after submit) which is called everytime the user enters data in the list or deletes a record from the list.
But the error/success message isn't shown on the page - what went wrong? Did I forget a setting etc? The process itself is working properly, new data is saved in th db or marked as deleted, according to the user action.

This thread seems to be about checking the "include process success message" in the Action section of a Branch. I had the problem described and because of the hints here clicked that box in an unconditional branch and then was able to see in the #SUCCESS_MESSAGE# region the value assigned to apex_application.g_print_success_message once the branch took effect.

How to clear Success Messages on Tabular Form

In my tabular form I created a manual process for Update/Insert I have disabled the standard APPLYMRU process in order to use mine instead. I've done this so that I can set some column values that I don't want the user to enter. This is a Tabular Form type process with Execution Scope set for Created and Modified Rows. The process works fine.
I created 2 hidden page items P20_UPDATE_COUNT and P20_INSERT_COUNT. I use these as counters in the sql to count number of rows updated and inserted. I then use these as substitution variables in the success message. I set the values for P20_UPDATE_COUNT and P20_INSERT_COUNT to zero in the computations: Before Regions and also After Submit computations ( I realize may not need to reset in both). After submit the branch is to the same paqe.
The problem I am having is that the success messages do not get cleared out. If I update one row then click the Submit button row is updated and success message appears 1 row updated, 0 rows inserted - Fine. I then update 2 rows and insert one row and the message appears as: 1 row updated, 0 rows inserted. 2 rows updated 1 row inserted. It seems the messages keep getting appended to the previous message if they are different. This does not occur if I use the standard APPLYMRU process. Is there a way to clear the prior messages? Note; this is happening in my application on the Oracle Apex site so the version is current version.

Not sure what is going wrong, but I remember I at one point had to make custom success messages. There is a function that lets you print the message yourself:
apex_application.g_print_success_message
I don't think there is any oracle documentation on it, but here's an old blog post that explains how you can use it:

You can use it to overwrite/bypass the standard success messages.

It means your file is too large to fit on a single layer disk.
Recompress to keep the overall size (audio,video and menus) below 4.5GB

Cause:
According to the detailed error message, it indicates that “The report server has encountered a configuration error. Logon failed for the unattended execution account.”
and “The user name or password is incorrect”, so this issue would be caused by the mismatched credential stored in report server.
Solution:
To solve this issue, you can follow the steps below:
1.
Access Report Manager URL on your reporting server.
From figure 2, you can see that the URL for Report Manager is
http://SCCM:80/Reports
in our lab environment. You can check your Report Manager URL in Reporting Services Configuration Manager.

Find out the date source {5C6358F2-4BB6-4a1b-A16E-8D96795D8602} and access it.

You can have a test connection to check whether the credentials stored in the report server are correct or not.

Modify the password or choose another authentication method
If you want to change the password, please make sure that password is the same as the one that you have set for that user account in the domain.
5. Confirm connection
After you change the password, you can test connection again. From figure 5, we can see that connection created successfully.

ok . the user name is sccm.admin this user have the assignment to run as a services, he is a domain admin, on the sql server this user have the sysadmin, i create the reporting with the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, and on the Database i use
the sccm.admin to create the new database, on the Service Account i use sccm.admin user, also this user have local administrator on the SCCM server, + i give him the dbreader on All the database on the SCCM server witch it also the SQL server, i add the sccm.admin
on the reporting web the system role and check the all settings give him full permissions

Rolando - We don't need all that information about the data model and such. Can you describe what the application does on the page that gives the error? I mean, you submit the page, it performs some after-submit processes (what do they do and how many processes are there?) and then it has some kind of branch to the same page or another page. Describe the processes, show us the success message for each process, exactly as they are formatted in the process definition page, and describe the branches (to the same page, another page, do they use URL redirects? And also please post the entire URL that you see when the error page is displayed.
Finally, please provide all the output from the About HTML DB page: Workspace Home -> Click the About HTML DB link under Workspace Administration on the far right side of the page. Then copy all the output and show it here.

IDOC: Status (Error/Success/information)report to Sender system

How would one send a message(error/success/information) to the sending(external) system to inform them of the statuses of the messages they've sent to our SAP system?

you have an option called Audit reporting in which you can have the status of idoc at sender side.read the following.
Setting Up Audit Reporting
In the default behavior, after an IDoc is dispatched to a destination system, the sender does not know the state of the process on the destination system. You can configure the system, however, for cross-system reporting. You must model the ALEAUD message between the systems.
Two programs enable cross-system reporting.
1)RBDSTATE. This program is scheduled to run periodically on the destination system. It reports the status of incoming IDocs to the sending system, using the ALEAUD message and ALEAUD01 IDoc. This status information is recorded separately from IDoc status information in the audit logs.
2)RBDAUD01. This program is executed on the sending system. It analyzes the audit log and displays the output as a report.
The RBDSTATE program returns the following statuses, from the receiving to the sending system.
RBDSTATE Is Run on the Receiving System
Status of IDoc in receiving system     Status reported to sending system via ALEAUD
53 (Application document posted.)     41 (Application document created in receiving system.)
51 (Error: Application document not posted.)     Status 39 (IDoc is in the receiving system.) This status is repeated each time RBDSTATE is run, as long as the IDoc remains in status 51.
68 (Error: No further processing.)     40 (Application document not created in receiving system.)

PI PIcks and Arcives the file successfully but i cant find any error or success message in channel monitiring , Moni or Message Monitoring since i am aware that i am passing XML file and doing FCC in sender channel.
Pls Explain me why PI Picked up and Archived the file since file format was wrong and It doesnt show any error in channel monitoring or Moni or Message Monitoring
and also pls explain me as i understand PI picks the file and Archive it then PI process the file from archive :pls correct me if am wrong

I believe you are converting flat format file to XML using FCC. Dont understand passing xml file and doing fcc in sender channel?
Check the following..
1) See the file you place in the sender side has file permission to execute
2) Are you referencing the right file in the file sender communication channel?
3) Make sure that your fcc sender file throws error by simulating simple error such as giving field names invalid in the fcc. Then we can figure it out whether fcc referencing the appropriate file or some other file.
Hope this helps. I would like to get elaborate explanation about your problem.

On Demand process you can use HTP.P to output success message after you code.
Create also exception handler that output error using same HTP.P.
When you call Ajax in JavaScript
var ajaxResult=ajaxRequest.get();
Result you output are in variable ajaxResult.
You can use e.g. alert
alert(ajaxResult);
Refresh report depend lot of what report you have.
There is lot of posts relating interactive report and classic in this forum.
It might be good to create sample what you already have done to apex.oracle.com.
Also creating new post might be good idea as this is answered.

we had a similar requirement, where we have an external name that has project number values. We used row wise initialization to capture all the projects that a user belongs to. Then, we applied the filters at the RPD level, instead of doing it at the report level. From you requirement I see that you are trying to filter the groups based on user login. When a user logs in, he will see the information about the groups that he only belongs to. Correct me if I am wrong here.
Assuming I am right about your requirement, providing the filter that you need apply in RPD.
On all the fact tables are joined to the Package Virtual Group dimension, apply the below filter.
case when 1=1 then (Dim)"."Package Virtual Group" END = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."GROUP");
The reason for use of case statement here is, it converts the logical sql to IN Clause, helping us acheive the exact query that we would want.

Firefox crashes when I open it but there is no error message or report

Upgraded to latest version and worked fine. Today, as soon as I open Firefox it starts to load the homepages and then crashes without any error message or report. Tried to restart PC but problem remains unchanged. Thanks for your help.

Report with BDC not displaying success message when run in Background

I am running a BDC report in Background mode.The below statement is not capturing the Success message when a document is posted.But when I am running the same in ForeGround mode it is capturing and is displayed in the output.Can anyone please help me in understanding why this is happening and how can I resolve this.

I think your BDC didnt generated any document when you run it in 'N' screen mode.
Debug your program when you run it in background
Goto Tcode :SM37
Select the job ( march checkbox )
==> in command prompt enter 'JDBG'
==> Then you can start reexecting the job .
You can check the sucess messages accordingly in debug mode
Also add a read statement on messtab for msgtype = 'S'.

Error when generating the report (see long text), Message no. AQ_AD_HOC221

Hi All,
I am facing a peculiar problem while executing an infoset query.I have created 2 customized fields Compa-ratio and PIR in infotype 0008 in an infoset.I have coded in these additional fields.
When I execute a query using 1 of these customized fields the report is generated correctly.But when I put both the fields in the output the report shows an error "Error when generating the report (see long text)". The message# associated with this errAQ_AD_HOC221.
I have also checked the data types and the references. Nothing seems to be wrong here.
Does anybody has any clue about this ?

Hi Bernd,
I had a look at those notes. But the information provided did'nt prove to be helpful. I found out the problem. I was using the same local variable for both the fields in their code. This generated the error. This error is a very generic one and does'nt help in finding out what exactly is the problem.
I changed the other local variable and it started working. When I was using the same variable that time I did'nt forget to clear the values but the query still generated the error.
