FORMCALC (or JS) Default date today with user override questions

I have a date field where if null, I want today to be inserted. If the user overrides the today date and saves the form, I want the user entered date to stay.
What I have in FORMCALC is:
if ($.isNull)
then
$.rawValue = num2date(date(), DateFmt(2))
endif
The first part works, it populates with today, and I can overrided the date. When I save and then reopen the form, the date is "0".
Any ideas here?

I'm having the same problem as described above but I am using JavaScript to reflect the current date:
var msNow = (new Date()).getTime();
var d1 = new Date(msNow);
this.rawValue = util.printd("mm/dd/yyyy", d1);
The user can override the current date and save the form, BUT when the form is reopened it will run again and insert the current date over the user entered date.
(I've tried several variations of "if (this.isNull)" to the above code which results in "01/00/0000" when opening the saved form --so it still doesn't retain the date entered by the user.)
Does anyone know what code I need to add to to keep the user entered date that was saved with the form? Or if there is a better way to make the date calendar default to today, allow user override and save that user entered date on the form?

I need to format a date I receive via JS in YYYYMMDD format according with user defaults <b>without</b> server side action (I know, this is not a good issue, but they want it).
My solution is to write a JS function (there are a lot of it on WWW) which accepts two strings and formats the first according to the second, something like:
userFormattedDate = formatDate('20060613','DD.MM.YYYY');
paying attention to generate 'DD.MM.YYYY' string on server side, according to user settings.
But if this isn't a weblog, where is the question? :-D
The question is: is there a JS function (in DatePicker or dateNavigator BSP) provided by standard libraries which serves similar functionality?
Does exist a JS public standard library?

Unable to Access Data Form with Users Provisioned as 'Planner'

Hello,
I am currently experiencing an issue that I can't seem to resolve. I was hoping someone else might have some insight and/or have come across this issue.
I created two data forms. Users have been assigned permissions to the dimensions included in the data form. I have also assigned users access to the data form. The model is a single currency model.
Upon logging into the application, the user is unable to open the data form unless he/she is provisioned as an 'Administrator'. Provisioning the user as a 'Planner' or 'Interactive User' does not allow the user to open the data form. The following message appears:
*"Security and/or filtering has resulted in a required dimension not being represented on this data form."*
My data form uses the following dimensions:
POV: ELEMENT
PAGE: SCENARIO, YEAR, VERSION, ENTITY
ROWS: ACCOUNT
COLUMNS: PERIOD
We are currently implementing Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.0. The operating system is Windows Server 2008 64-bit R2.
Any advice/suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I went ahead a created a data form that just used level 0 members and confirmed that the user had access to the members defined in the form. Still no luck.
I also checked to make sure the filters existed in Essbase. Here is what I found in Essbase:
Access: None
Member Specification: @IDES("Account"),@IDES("Scenario"),@IDES("Version"),@IDES("Entity"),@IDES("NTTA_ELEMENT")
I have no issues accessing the data through the Essbase Add-in.
I did notice some additional items in my Planning setup:
1. Task>Manage Process - Sub-Status states 'Failed' when I attempt to validate
2. Task>Manage Process - Status changes from 'Not Started' to 'Under Review' when I start the cycle.
3. Dimension Security - Users are attached to a group that has write access at the Descendent(Inclusive) level.
4. In the Account, Department, Scenario and Version dimensions I also setup the user to have write access at the member level.
As for my earlier post with the data forms, that was just my way of showing the dimensions used. I do have two data forms, 1) with top level and descendants/children and 2) with level 0 members only.
I checked the logs and there isn't really much info there. I have a case open with Oracle and a webex scheduled for tomorrow.

Default date parameters with timestamps

Hi everyone!
I have an user request that I thought should be fairly simple, but I cannot quite get it working.
We have a concurrent request with beginning and ending date parameters. The users have requested that these dates default to the beginning/end of the current day.
For example:
20-MAR-2009 00:00:00
20-MAR-2009 23:59:59
I thought this would be a simple sql statement, but Apps does not seem to agree.
The parameters are of type FND_STANDARD_DATE.
What we have tried:
select to_char(sysdate, 'DD-MON-YYYY') || ' 00:00:01' p_beg_date
, to_char(sysdate, 'DD-MON-YYYY') || ' 23:59:59' p_end_date
from dual
-- did not work, said looking for DATE format --
select to_date(to_char(sysdate, 'DD-MON-YYYY') || ' 00:00:01', 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') P_BEG_DATE

How to suppres Forms Default Locking message with user freindly message?

Hi,
In general if the record being edited by current user is locked by another user working on the application, forms would give the dialog box 'Could not reserve record(2 tries). Keep trying?' Is there any way by which i can suppress this message and give user friendly message by capturing it in any trigger.

You should be able to modify the message to whatever you like by using an ON-MESSAGE or an ON_ERROR trigger. Then when/if the error happens, the default Oracle error message will be replaced by your message. An example is included.

Default Date as Today

Hi,
I have date as a Variable selection in the query.
The date field shud accept values taht are Greater than equal to todays Date (Default) only.By default it shud be todays date
or the user can choose either a future date ,however he shud not be able to see the report for previous date.
Kindly let me know as to how to proceed ??

Hello,
You can use a variable with processing type user exit. In the user exit at [I_STEP = 1|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1d/ca10d858c2e949ba4a152c44f8128a/frameset.htm] assign the system date (SY-DATUM), so when the user execute the report it will display the current system date. If the user choose some other date and execute, then in the [I_STEP = 2|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1d/ca10d858c2e949ba4a152c44f8128a/frameset.htm] check the date whether it is less than the current date , if so given an message, else proceed with user selected values.

The following values are valid for I_STEP:
I_STEP = 1
Call takes place directly before variable entry
I_STEP = 2

In this call, you can check the values of the variables. Triggering an exception (RAISE) causes the variable screen to appear once more. Afterwards, I_STEP=2 is also called again.
I_STEP = 0
The enhancement is not called from the variable screen. The call can come from the authorization check or from the Monitor.

Default Date for the Date Prompt can be Static but not dynamic in WEBI.
Because we can't specify any object/calculation as default value for the prompt.
I think it's not possible in WEBI.

If you are using a datatemplate , you can have a beforereport trigger that will have a package call.
In the package spec, define a date variable and also define the function beforereporttrigger that retruns boolean.
In the body, define the beforereporttrigger function with
begin
select sysdate into specvariable from dual
return(true);
end;
You can then use the variable in the datatemplate as :variable.

I want to show the default date as 3 weeks from today's date during page load.
For example ,i have given as adf.CurrentDate + 21 in EO for the attribute 'DueDate'. when you set the value on the entity level then you don't want to show it during page load but when the field is empty ? Correct? if so then the use case is a different one. The easiest way to implement this would be to create a Rowimpl class (Java option) and then in the get method of the entity attribute check if the value is null and if it is, set it to the current date + 21 days. This way all rows will be set with the 3 weeks due date but fields are not overridden each time the row is queried

How to give specific default date with expression in SSRS

I have to pass some specific kind of dates in "Default Values" section of parameter.
1st is whenever SSRS report run for any year in default date I want to pass value 1/1/(Current Year), for this I tried many way like , = "1/1/" + DatePart("Y",Now()) also = "1/1/" + Year(Now()) but it
is giving me error. When I tried both part individually "1/1/" and DatePart("Y",Now()) , it is working but when I join them with + sign it is giving me error that "input string is not in correct format"
2nd I want to set up like when package run in month of April, it takes default date as "(Previous Month, which is May)/1/(current Year)" so if I am running report on 4/5/2013 then it in default date it should take 3/1/2013.
Please help me with the expression. Thanks in advance.

In End date I want to put previous month's last date. For example, if active batch is running package on

For 1/16/2014 then for End Date parameter it should value "12/31/2013"
For 3/16/2013 then for End Date parameter it should value "2/28/2013"

Returning a PDF customized with user data

Can someone point me to information about taking data captured via a web page (or a hosted PDF) that returns a different PDF containing the submitted data?
I am looking for a way to collect data from a user online then automatically return a customized PDF back to the user after that data is submitted.

You can connect the form to the DB using anODBC connection. This functionality comes as part of Acrobat but the form must be Reader Extended by the full LiveCycle Server version of Reader Extension to allow this in Reader. In your case, if your system is the only on ethat will interact with the DB then this might be a viable solution (but you woudl have to use Acrobat). This solution woudl involve create an ODBC connection in your system then configuring the form to make use of that connection.
Does that make sense?
