Formula for scanning image from book to have at 1200 pixel width

I have to scan some images from a book for a website. The images in the book are various sizes ie 4" x 6". I need to have the final images, for the website, at 1200 pixels wide, 72 dpi. Is there a formula to use when scanning so that the scanned images will be 1200 dpi in width or very close to that.

Measure with width of the photo to be scanned and use the following formula:
Scanning dpi= 1200 divided by the width of the photo in inches
Scanning a 4x6 photo you would scan at 200 dpi. Because 200 dpi x 6 inches = 1200 pixels.

How do you SAVE a scanned image from my printer?

I have an HP Deskjet 3510 Printer. How do I save a scanned image from my printer to a folder? This is my first MAC.

It's automatically saved, if you use the Image Capture application already pre-loaded on your computer you specify the folder, file name, and type of file (jpg, pdf, etc...) right there. You didn't say what scanning app you use but I'm sure it is very similar.
BTW because this is your first Mac I'd suggest book marking and using the Intel-based iMac Support link.

Script for replacing Image from a frame into InDesign document file

I am having an indesign document (indd) file with images and texts. I am using InDesign Server CS4 to run the scripts via SOAP.
My requirement is to replace any of the images from the required frame/s of indesign document through scripting (I already have frame id of which image needs to be replaced). I have written written java-script file (as given below): but when I execute this java-script on InDesign Server via SOAP, I get follwoing error into InDesign Server:

I'm in the process of preparing an inDesign file for a school project -- I've already had a few harrowing experiences sending large files to the printer that are too large to process (and a very grumpy computer, etc). The end result will be a poster around 36 inches by 4 or 5 feet.
I'm wondering if there are any best practices for making sure that the files imported into InDesign are a manageable size to begin with. Should I, for instance, be saving each file as a jpeg before placing in Indesign?

No, you should not save every file as JPG before placing it in INDesign. JPG is only usefull for raster images (like photos) without any transparency in high quality.
When you place images use:
For raster images from Photoshop psd (rgb with color profile)
For raster images from Photoshop with form layers, texts or any vector element use PDF (or PDP) with layers.
For vector graphics from Illustrator use AI files or PDF.
For layouts from other InDesign projects use either the INDD itsself or export a PDF/X4.
But to the printer deliver a PDF according to their standards. E.g. when they need CMYK files export as PDF/X1a with the required output color space and the resolution they want. Produce the pdf via Export (Print).
Don't deliver open INDD. File size should for printing projects not be an issue.

Can't save or send a scanned image from mac using OS X 10.9.4 image is completely black

I've recently updated my MacBook pro to OS X 10.9.4 and I can no longer scan and save images from my HP printer I have HP photosmate premium C310. When scanning the image will appear on the screen but once saved or emailed it is just black. Any ideas as to why? All the current updates have been made to my limited technical knowledge, but I did just run a check and it seems updated.

Formula for displaying images

Tried the documentation found at crystal reports support site with no luck, hopefully these forums can help.
I have been searching for a way to use a conditional formula, or some preinstalled function to:
1. display an image based on whether there is a table entry ( which is the filename)
2. if nothing exists in the table entry, display an image from a fall back web URL.
here is the snippet I am starting out with -

the CRXI object model is kind of new to me so im fairly sure this is simple, but looking for a kick in the pants into the right direction, or some testable/trusted solution.

What you can try is:
1. Insert default .jpg picture into your report
2. Right-click the image and select Format Graphic> select Pictures tab> Graphic Location formula
3. Insert your formula, but make sure that result of your formula is a string - full pass to .jpg file
I have tested it right now and it works for my CRXIr2.

Removing Stacked Images from Book Browser

How do you remove (delete) stacked images for the browser when you are making a book? With a single image I can just select the image and hit delete, but when I select an image that is in a stack it won't allow me to delete it from the browser.
Just to be clear, I'm not trying to delete the images from my library, I'm just trying to remove them from the browser of a book project.

I did it by extracting from the stack, the image I wanted in the book. Then I could delete the remaining images in the stack.

Moving scanned images from documents.........

i scanned approx 50 images from my canon pixma mg5420. they are now located in both documents and 'my image garden' (canon software). is it possible to transfer the images from my documents to iPhoto, and, if it is possible, do you have to do one at a time or can i move the whole group all at once? all this from a mac newbie.

You can select them all and drag them into iPhoto. I can't remember if it makes an event automatically.

HT4101 I discovered a fatal flaw in the iPad procedure for downloading images from camera to iPad: after selecting the images to be downloaded, an accidental touch of the "delete" button, wipes all selected images from the camera, with no warning?

After downloading some 60 images from camera to iPad, I was "scrolling" down to select the last images, and inadvertently touched the "Delete" button that appears at the top right of the screen, when the "Select" option is chosen. I did not notice the warning "Delete 60 Images?", and continued scrolling down, when my finger touched the warning message. All my precious images were instantly deleted from the camera The sensitive touch screen feature makes this a real problem. Apple should "fix" this unacceptable feature, surely! I suggest that the images on the camera memory card should not be able to be deleted from the iPad, and this shpuld require to be done using the camera controls only. Similarly, the "Delete" or "Keep" options that appear after importing a selection from the camera, should NOT allow the images on rthe camera to be deleted, but only the imported (downloaded) images on the iPad. This unnecessary option could easily delete precious images from the camera!
Apple should remove the option to delete images from the camera, and the iPad touch screen commands should olny delete images on the iPad. (Alternatively, the "delete option should be on a separatly accessed "page".)

No, I don't agree. Whenever you connect a camera to a computer you are given the opportunity to delete the photos on the camera after downloading in precisely the same way the iPad does this. The fact that you touched Delete and then ignored the Warning doesn't change anything.
I've loaded thousands of photos on my IPad and never have had that problem.
Don't blame a moment of carelessness on your device.

First let me say, that I am technically challenged. I have a Canon MP560 printer. When I scan a photo, it goes to my PC in MP Navigator. The only way I can get it to iPhoto, is to drag it to documents, then drag it to iPhoto. There must be an easier way. Also, is there a way to scan & import multiple photos at once? I'm sure there are easy answers/solutions to my problem, but like I said, I'm not very tech savvy. I'd appreciated any suggestions. Thanks.

unfortunately these are totally a function of your scanner and the software you are using to scan - your best bet is the scanner manual.
Since you are scanning to a PC it is unlikely that any here in a Mac forum will have much information
Is your scanner a network scanner or is it just directly connected to your PC?
Can you connect it to your Mac? If so see if you can use the scan function in Preview to san
As to multiple photos - not easily - you can scan multiple photos as an image and then once that image is in iPhoto duplicate it once for each photo in it and crop out all but one photo in each copy so you end up with the photos individually in iPhoto
