Formula to trim off data from another cell after

Wonder if anyone can help. Ive got some address columns im editing in Numbers. Unfortunately,( common problem I know!), not all the date in the cells are uniform. For example: E2 may have '123 Alphabet Street', whereas E3 might have '123 Alphabet Street, London'. Im trying to write a quick formula where I can trim off any data after the ',' into another column called Town.
Im going to continue to scroll through this forum to see if this has been dealt with before, and look on Iwork Help. But in the meantime.. if anyone could give me a pointer that would be ace.

You'll need two columns, one for each part of the split.
Original data in column B, Street address in column C, City in column D
C: =IFERROR(LEFT(B,FIND(", ",B)-1),B)
D: =IFERROR(RIGHT(B,LEN(B)-FIND(", ",B)-1),"")

to subtract one cell from another you enter a formula in a cell by:
1) click the cell where you want the result to be
2) click the cell that contains on of the operands
3) type the minus sign ("-")
4) click the other cell with the other operand
e.g. if cell A1 contains 5, cell B1, contains 2 and you want the difference of those two cells to be in cell C1....
you would click cell C1 and then type: "=A1-B1" then type the enter key OR
click cell C1 and then type "=", then click cell A1, then type "-", then click cell B1, then type the "enter" key

How can I create a diagram where equal data from different cells will be added to one sector?

I'm a new Mac user, so I have a lot of problems and questions every day. Moving to Mac from PC is not an easy thing)
Here is my problem:
I need to create a few diagrams for my science work, but can't correct one mistake. Every time one data from one cell from the table takes its own place in the diagram. But I need to ceparate equal data to show it is one section.
An example:
Sex
Age
Female
18
Female
18
Female
18
Female
25
Female
30
We need to create a diagram to show that we have
60% - 18 years
20% - 25 years
20% - 30 years
But Numbers doesn't show it that way. Here how it does:
So please help me. How can I do that?

Some example data of people and their age:
The COUNTIF function will give the number of people of each age.
In another table, B2 contains this formula (and Fill Down to the bottom of B)
=COUNTIF(Table 1::B,"="&A2)
In this example, 3 people are 18 years old, 0 people are 19 years old, and so on. Use this table to calculate each age as the % of the total, then use that as the data for your diagram (graph, chart).

If Number = than then display text from another cell

I'd appreciate it if anyone can help me with this please.
I am putting together a gradebook type spreadsheet. I would like to display the text from another cell if the number entered in another cell is greater than or less than a certain number.
So - if the number in cell A is equal to or greater than 70 then the text displayed in cell B equals the text contained in cell C

The Numbers User Guide PDF available from the Numbers Help menu as a download is good reading for beginners. As a reference document, the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide is also valuable.
The function you need is called "IF", and the syntax is: IF "logic-expression" is true, then do this, else do this. As a calculation in a cell, that would have the form: =IF("Cell A" is equal to or greater than 70, then display the content of cell C, else display "something else") You need to provide the "something else", which can be a null string, "", if you wish.
As you will find when you read the guide, the cells all have row and column address components where the column is identified by a letter of the alphabet and the row by a number. So If your data is in A1, your text string in B1 and your expression is in C1, you would write in C1:
=IF(A1>=70, B1, "")

Deleting data from multiple cells

I am new to Numbers. I have managed to complete our club accounts for 2009. Then I have saved them As and renamed the project for 2010.
How do I delete all data from the cells, leaving all the formulas in place, so that I can enter new data for 2010.

Select the cells with data, press delete.
Select a group of cells in a contiguous block by clicking in the top left cell of the block, then dragging down and right to select the rest of the cells in that block.
Select non-contiguous cells by clicking in the first cell then holding the command key and clicking other cells to ad them to the selection.
Take care that you do not add cells containing formulas to the selection as you cannot lock individual cells to prevent content deletion.
Once you have stripped the old data from the document, I would suggest saving it as a Template. Then you will be able to simply open the template each year and start adding that year's data.

Selecting data from a cell in a table

I want to be able select data from a cell in a table by looking up a specified header row and header column. For example, if my table has column headings of "Micro", "Emerging", and "Large" and my rows are labeled "Silver", "Gold", and "Platinum", how do I find the data in the table that is associated with column "emerging" and row "Platinum"?

I thought that pointing to the User Guide was clear enough but it seems that it wasn't.
Assuming that you have a spreadsheet with two sheets.
The first one is named "jardin"
it contains a table named "potager"
a column header of this table is "carotte"
a row header of this table is "longue"
The cell of row "longue" of column "carotte" contains "cuite"
The other sheet is named "garden"
it contains a table named "potager"
the column header of column 3 of this table is "carotte"
the row header of row 5 of this table is "longue"
In cell E10 of this table insert the formula :
=INDIRECT("jardin"&" :: "&"potager"&" :: "&"carotte"&" "&"lapin")
It will grab the value of row "lapin" of column "carotte" of table "potager" of sheet "jardin"
This result is "cuite"

What I would like to do is as follows:
I have a fantasy hockey league website. For each team I have
a team page (clubhouse) which is generated using PHP/MySQL. The one
area I would like to clean up is the displaying of the divisional
standings on the right side. As of right now, I use a URL variable
(division = id2) to grab the needed data, which works ok. What I
want to do is clean up the url abit.
So far the url is
clubhouse.php?team=Wings&id=DET&id2=Pacific, in the end all
I want is clubhouse.php?team=Wings.
I have a separate table, that has the teams entire
information (full team name, short team, abbreviation, conference,
division, etc. so I was thinking if I could somehow do this:
Recordset Team Info is filtered using URL variable team
(short team). Based on what team equals, it would then insert this
variable into the Divisional Standings recordset.
So example: If I type in clubhouse.php?team=Wings, the Team
Info recordset would bring up the Pacific division. Then 'Pacific'
would be inserted into the Divisional Standings recordset to
display the Pacific Division Standings.
Basically I want this
SELECT *
FROM standings
WHERE division = <teaminfo.division>
ORDER BY pts DESC

Assuming two tables- teamtable and standings:
teamtable - which has entire info about the team and has a
field called
"div" which has the division name say "pacific" and you want
to use this
name to get corresponding details from the other table.
standings - which has a field called "division" which you
want to use to
give the standings
SELECT * FROM standings AS st, teamtable AS t
WHERE st.division = t.div
ORDER BY pts DESC
Instead of * you could be specific on what fields you want to
select ..
something like
SELECT st.id AS id, st.position AS position, st.teamname AS
team

Best way To get data from another application using NDDE lbrary

My vb.net application gets data from another application using NDDE Library. I got stocks prices (open,high,low,close,volume,change......(about 15 records for each stock)) (about 200 stocks) . I don't know if there is a problem in my code.

and then I get the data from Client_advise sub (called each time a value changed )and fill the list. What I know is that client advise gets only one record for single stock each time is called..

According to your description, you'd like to get data from another app using NDDE library.
When using the NDDE library, the CPU usage is high. As the NDDE library is third-party library, it is not supported here. I suggest you checking if the problem is caused by the NDDE library.
If you'd like to get data from another app. I suggest you could save the data in the dataBase, and then read it in another application if necessary.

Reading data from another database

Hi Folks!
I need to read some data from another non-sap system database to validate something in R/3. Does this is possible. If it is possible how could this be achieved?

There are a couple of ways to do this. One, you can create an executable on the other non-sap system that you can call from SAP as a system command. So let us say you write a unix script that takes a value as input and returns a flag as output. Within the script you will check that value against this non-sap database. In SAP, you will create a system command in SM69 and then execute it in your program via function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE.
Alternatively, you can use the RFC route but you need to setup RFC connection between the two systems.
You can also bring this validation table into SAP as a one time or periodically updated table and then do the validations within SAP.

TableView cellfactory set style based on content from another cell

I'm trying to figure out how to set the color of the current cell based on the content from another cell or property in the class that contains the row content. I looked at the following thinking I can use this but the table position method is not longer there.

t.getTableView().getItems().get(getIndex())give you access to the object represented in the current row? The getIndex() method is a TableCell method (inherited from IndexedCell).

To get data from another user?

I am in "scott" user. I need to use the data from another user for example user "sys". i know the database name(i.e.user@database), but i dont know the password of that user.
I think by using dblink it is possible. If it is correct then Is there any other way for this? If dblink is not correct way then please reply the correct way.

You only need to use a database link if the data is in another database instances.
If you want to query data in another users schema on the same database you just need to have rights to do so. You either need to have
select any table system privilage granted to the user (not recommended for security reasons)
be granted select privalage on the object from the user
be granted a role that has select privelges on the object you want to query.
If you log in as system to the database you can grant select on the object to scott
sql> grant select on <schema>.<table> to scott;
now logged in as scott you can select from the table
sql> select * from <schema>.<table>
where <schema> is the other user and <table> is the name of the table that you want to select from.
