Forte C++ compiler for compiling Pro C

Hi,
Can Forte C++ compiler be used for Pro*C compilation on Solaris 10. If yes, what would be the steps for compiling the same. I am not looking for the detailed process. Just an overview would suffice.

Error during distribution for compiled code generation-Reply

Hi,
Looking at your error messages, it looks as though your build is failing during the code generation phase of an autocompilation. To determine why the code generator crashed, either look in the $FORTE_ROOT/log/forte_ex*.log files or don't use autocompilation and use fcompile.
There are many reasons why the code generator could crash. Some of the things I've come across are running out of memory and trying to find invalid classes.
If its the invalid class problem you'll find a message like:

Integrate the changes to the workspace, start the build again and this should have cured the problem.
However, its hard to know what the cause of your problem is without seeing the output in the log files.

This I have been doing from quite sometime successfully. Recently I
developed a new service and plugged it into my application for
deployment.

two because of which I'm unable to go ahead with installaion. I would

I was able to resolve this. The error seems to be very misleading.
Actual problem was with the configuration of Accounting Codes and Valuation areas. The currency of the company code was wrongly mentioned for the US GAAP valuation area. Instead of putting in the company code currency which is AUD for us they put in the Group currency which is USD.

Oracle SQL Developer Release 1.5.5 "compile for debug"

Using Oracle SQL Developer Release 1.5.5 on Windows XP pro machine connecting to 9.2.0.4 database on AIX machine.
Trying to debug a procedure, in the navigator window, I rt-clk the procedure and select "Compile for Debug", then nothing happens. This happens for every procedure I've tried. I've been granted both DEBUG ANY PROCEDURE and DEBUG CONNECT SESSION. Any ideas?

This is the first I've used SQL Developer, so I'll take the blame. I had not noticed that the Messages Log does in fact tell me that the proc compiled. However, the debug icon (little red bug) was nowhere to be found.
I see now that I need to Edit, not Open, the proc in order to debug. If I had read the Help screens a little more closely, I would have seen that I needed to be in Edit mode. My bad. Thanx to all for your responses.

Is it possible to use CC 5.7 to compile for Solaris 6/7 platforms?

we are currently upgrading to the new CC 5.7 from CC5.2 (Forte Update 1). One advantage we notice is the new, simplified licensing scheme, and hence the possibility to get rid of the license server installations. However, we still have to support our product on Solaris 7 (and possibly, though unlikely, Solaris 6).
Because CC 5.7 only installs on Solaris 8, the question is whether it would be possible to cross-compile for those older platforms (e.g. via -xarch). (And use our Solaris 7 installations only for testing, not compile-purposes anymore.)

Programs built on Solaris 8 usually will not run on Solaris 2.6 or 7, no matter what compiler you use. Sun Studio 9 (C++ 5.7) supports only Solaris 8, 9, and 10.
You need to build your applications on the lowest version of Solaris that they are intended to be run on. Maybe you could build on Solaris 7 using FD6u1, and again on Solaris 8 using Studio 10 for customers using Solaris 8 and later.

Suggestions for compiling libraries on Leopard

I'm finding it a real difficulty to get a couple of things I use for development up and running, and either my Google skills are failing me or people aren't asking this question:
What is the best set of command line options to enter to allow for compilation as an x86_64 binary? I have a mac pro, but by default everything I've built so far compiles as an i386 file and won't run.
I've tried the following line leading up to a configure shell command (very common in open source projects) with mixed results:
CFLAGS='-arch x86_64 -DCPU=\"x86_64\" -Wc,-m64' LDFLAGS='-arch x86_64' ./configure
Does anyone have any other ideas or better yet, something that works 100% of the time.

Not all open-source projects are as well "configure"-ed as others. I haven't yet done anything with x86_64, but I have had good success with the following aliases:

Some caveats. These aliases are probably overkill and are doing the same thing redundantly over, and over again. But some of the projects I have had to compile just weren't done correctly and I really had to work on them to get UB versions. Also, I have done very little with Leopard and nothing with x86_64. Finally, the uconfigurelib alias is so I can install libraries in a non-standard location, out of the path, and test including dynamic libraries inside an application bundle.
None of these aliases will work for every project. In some cases, they could screw something up badly. In particular, if an application/library uses #defines to do byte-swapping, or even does any byte swapping, you'll have additional work to do. Also, if the software wants to access installed data in the "--prefix" path, then uconfigurelib will not work properly.
So no, these are not 100% guaranteed, but they are a good start and have worked fine on several projects.

(1) How to compile the Pro*c program U got to have a makefile to compile a Pro*c program. It helps u in compiling and creating an excutable. Once U have created a makefile , just call "make" and it will do the compilation and create the executable as well.

This was changed from an error to a warning about anacronism in the Forte Developer 7 C++ compiler. The warning can then be suppressed in a variety of ways including :
CC -erroff=%all
Since this structure is treated as an error in the Workshop 6 update 2 compiler, there's no way (of which I am aware) to get the compiler to compile files with the empty enum contained.

Error in executing a process for compilation for jsp

We have an iView which has jsp pages in it. We deployed the par & try toaccess the iview & we get an exception. The issue is that the iview has a jsp page. At the run time, this jsp is converted into a .java file
without problem. But EP engine is having issues compiling this java fileinto .class file.
On the other hand this same iview works just fine on our windows installation. Only Solaris EP install is having problems. The version onwindows as well as on Solaris is EP6 SP9.

I am having the same issue with another iview which has jsp page in it.
The web dynpro iview works fine.

Hi, seems like there's some typo in your jsp. Check the .java file listed with a java editor (like eclipse or devstudio.). Maybe you'll find the typo this way faster.
Most often, a multiline page import hampers jsp compilation,
e.g.
<%@page import="java.util.List,
java.util.Map"%>
needs to be
<%@page import="java.util.List,java.util.Map"%>

Error in executing a process for compilation

Our portal version is 6.0.2.28.0 (SAPJ2EE PL29)
we have the following problem:
1.- the developer upload a component in portal, but when he tries to run it, the following error appears:

2.- If I stop/start SAPJ2EE the component, which was uploaded before,can be run without problem, but if you upload it again,when you try to run it again, the compilation error appears

Hi:
the problem was not resolved deleting/uploading the components, the problem was resolved increasing the memory in the host and tuning the JVM memory parameters.
In our host the memory was reduced and this was the origin of the problem

Music app shows unknown artist for compilation albums

I just submitted a bug report to Apple, though I can't believe I am the only person with this issue.
Since iOS7 (I am currently on iOS7.0.4) I have noticed that the music app (along with many many other issues) will no longer display the artist for compilation albums that I have. In iTunes the artist on the compilation is clearly defined but in iOS7 the Music app simply states "unknown artist".
Surely I am not the only one with this issue?

I am very annoyed by this bug too, I have a lot of compilation albums and soundtracks with lots of differents artists, and my library is super organized in iTunes, with the “Album artist” field empty and the “Part of a compilation” checkbox enabled, and it shows the compilations as a “Various Artists” album.
But when I tried to download through iTunes Match in my iPhone 5C some few songs from those albums today, I found out that the music app has this bug that makes almost all of the compilation albums appear within this “UNKNOWN ARTIST” category under the artists tab.
It is very annoying and I hope Apple fixes this, cuz it is driving me crazy.

How do u get the Ipod touch to group compilations for browsing ?
With Itunes 9 like earlier versions u have the option to group compilations for browsing, having the effect of not putting a huge list of artists in your view by artist list because they played one song on a compilation you have got. With my old Ipod classic this option was also available through the setting menu. Meaning my ipod exactly mirrored my itunes lists.
I have recently purchased a ipod touch 32 and can find no settings that allow me to do the same. My artist list has risen from 200 to 400 because of this and makes finding albums by artists very annoying.
I have looked on the itunes software and can find no mention of syncing this ability to the ipod either.

Yes i do this to group compilations in itunes.
But when i then sync to the ipod touch the albums come up under compilations as desired but the artists also appear in the artist list which is not.
On my old ipod classic it had a setting to group compilations the same as in itunes which would then remove these odd artists from the artist list.
I can find no equivalent setting on the ipod touch
